I was looking for a small family butcher, a place that really is part of the community, with lots of fresh meat options. You know the type: tons of fresh sausages, chickens, all kinds of pork and beef cuts and roasts. A place where you can order your turducken for Thanksgiving, or grab that last minute beef brisket or rack of ribs for that Super Bowl barbecue. But unless you're interested in lamb roast or $200 wagyu steaks, you're not going to find any of that here. Nice enough guy running the place, but not what I'd expect from a local butcher. read more

Jo is truly one of the kindest human beings I've ever met in my life and he is so genuine everything he says is honest and kind. It also smells amazing in here! Now the meat... Wow! It's the most high quality and best priced meats of any place you could ever go to. A5 Japanese Wagyu is only just one of the many high quality items they have here. This is the best meat market that I have ever been to. They have high-end Wagyu and other organic grass fed choices of beef. I usually go with the chicken kebab meat and the Mongolian beef and Korean beef. I sear them on the grill at high heat very quickly and it melts in your mouth It is trimmed perfectly there is no waste. I believe it is a family run business. The men that I usually deal with on the weekends when I go are very friendly. It's over an hour and 15 minute drive for me and it's worth it. read more

Came here to get some Wagyu Rib Eyes with my brother and mom. They had a good selection of meat and offered a selection of grocery items too, but we were just here for the meat. We were in and out of there in about 10 minutes and my brother was excited to get these meats grilled.The meat was pretty good and my brother and I thoroughly enjoyed eating the meat. The specialty meats are good. I just didn't appreciate being sold old lule kabob. I got different meats, they were all great. But the lule he didn't have it on display but got it from the back and i didn't check until i got home. The Joe brothers were very welcoming the moment I walked in the door. I knew I wanted a USDA Prime grade ribeye. They cut exactly what I needed. I didn't know what to get for my kid, so they made a recommendation. When I cooked the steaks, the result was better than anything I've ever had at a steakhouse. For a birthday, we were looking for a whole beef tenderloin. Called around without much luck. I came across this place and the man was extremely friendly and kind. We drove over quickly and checked out the place. They have a bunch of meats and seafood. The tenderloin was the most red and bright meat I have ever seen! The butcher came up and asked us which part of it we wanted and how much. It was super quick, super friendly, super good quality. They have some high cut meats too, such as Japanese wagyu. It was definitely out of our budget, but our beef tenderloin was perfectly and not expensive at all!! The prefers meat for our beef wellingtons tomorrow night! Fantastic! read more

They might be expensive but the quality of the meats are very good. They got all types of meat chicken, lamp, liver, beef, chicken wings marinated spicy, Korean bbq meat. The owners are always there 2 brothers and the old man is there pops. I'd recommend to atleast try it once and for sure you will go back to buy more meat and try other types. read more

Family owned butcher and deli with warm, friendly service and sensational meat and side dishes. The Korean bbq, filet shish kabob, spicy chicken thigh, chicken breast salad and eggplant ikra dip is all supremely delicious. I drive 25 mins each way to shop here when we are hosting special bbq's for friends that matter. For those reviewers complaining about cost - LOL. Good meat and preparation isn't cheap. Great local butchery on the east side of the valley! I've come here several times when I want to get something special. I thought I had written a review for this spot, but I guess I was low key trying to keep all the goodness to myself! This is a family owned shop. I like that. The butchers here are really nice and take their time. A HUGE plus for me with this butchery is that it doesn't smell like meat. That means it's clean clean clean! My dad was a butcher and we would go to all types of suppliers when I was a kid, so believe me when I tell you that this butchery is the cleanest you'll find ANYWHERE. Everything they have is fresh, and well trimmed. They also have a nice selection of organic meats and some flash frozen items to choose from if you prefer that. I came to get my boyfriend a specialty steak for his birthday. They had just gotten in some AA5 Grass Fed Organic Australian Wagu ribeye! What a beautifully marbled cut of steak! It is usually a VERY expensive cut, and its very high quality for those of you who don't know meats. There is only 1 meat with a higher quality rank, and that's the Japanese equivalent which most American shops don't sell... (its EXTREMELY expensive at $100/lb to start). Alameda market had the Australian cut for $35/lb! It's really unheard of! I also picked up some French cut lamb chops, and spicy jumbo shrimp (they pre seasoned and de veined them to perfection) yay! My boyfriend said it was honestly the best steak he's EVER had.. WOOP WOOP! Of course it helps that I'm an iron chef (raises nose in the air) but we've eaten at Ruth's Chris, Mastros, Morton's, Houston's and other fine dining resturants offering top quality meats, and this steak from a little local shop pulls ALL their underwear over their heads and stuffs them in their meat lockers. read more

I was looking for another source for my Christmas waygu roast, as my normal butcher had moved to pre-cut steaks, sold two to a package. As I intended to smoke at 225 degrees on a BigGreenEgg, and needed 4 or 5 bones, Alameda Market said they had just just what I was looking for. I walk in the store, went to the meat counter and immediatelyygu recognized that I was in ribeye heaven, looking at Japanese, Australian,and American Waygu. Plus USDA prime boneless rib roast. They don't cut the carcass themselves. They get primals. And not all primals. If I can't find the cut I'm looking for in a BUTCHER, what's the point of this store? When I asked why they don't get the cut I was asking about, he said "because it's not tasty". A butcher said this about navel plate. :) If you're reading this, do yourself a favor and google it, and youtube it. It's by the THE most delicious part of the beef. Once you make meatballs, or patties with it, there's no going back. What an unfortunate experience. I have been coming here for a couple years now and am disappointed to say it's not as it's been before. I purchased a Prime Rib Eye and an Australian"Wagyu" Rib Eye yesterday. The Australian Ribeye Was not anywhere near the quality as is should be. It had minimal marbling and was less tender in quality than the Prime. It's really too bad because I have been a long time customer and feel ripped off. I have attached a photo of both pieces I received. I called them to see if it may have been a mix up but was told that I shouldnt expect a lot of marbeling for the wagyu, ummmmm that's exactly what's expected. Melt in your mouth prime meat. Imagine a pat of butter in beef kebab form and you get the idea. Nothing like it. No knife needed. Coming most recently from a small town in the Midwest but also being kind of food snobs having lived and traveled all over the world we were so excited to discover this gem within walking distance of our place. Mom and Pop vibe with melt in your mouth prime beef. Pre-seasoned kebabs are a weekly go to at our place, as well as the Korean beef. In our Midwestern home town the local gourmet butcher only had prime beef available maybe 1-4 times per year, so finding Alameda Market as our local butcher feels like complete foodie heaven. We feel so spoiled when we get meat from Alameda, we have to control ourselves to 1 or 2 visits per week. Once you go prime you never go back. Love this place! read more

This is one of the best and most consistent fresh meat markets in town. Their cuts are the perfect size, quality, and the marinates are done just right. Something new that I just discovered there was the Korean BBQ beef. I skewered the bite sized pieces and cooked it over a medium fire for about 5-7min each side. It was spectacular! My new favorite! It was buttery and tangy with a nice kick and smelled delicious. With the New Zealand lamb chops I sprinkled a little rosemary on top of the existing seasoning just because I like the flavor better that way but the quality was excellent. The service here is also great. The butcher/owner will give you the run down and help you pick out the best cuts. The store is always clean and does not smell like your typical meat market.
