    Chef's smoking onsite.

I was told by a few locals to try the baby back ribs. I ordered a 1/2 slab of baby back ribs, and a corn on the cob. My total was around $16. There was a line but it moved very quickly. You can smelll the smokers half a block away. The restaurant is just a counter and does not have seating. The prices are great! The corn of the cob was only $2! There are lots of desserts available as well. The ribs have a great smoky flavor and pull off the bone fairly easily. . If you like sauce, you will need to purchase it on the side. I got a large portion of sauce for $3. I will definitely be back here. The smoked ribs are only available on Saturdays.

This local market is so "handy" in every sense of the word! It may be small but every aisle is packed with popular brands & items. I stopped by a few days before Thanksgiving to buy meat for my Assyrian Stew and found the line in the back. I was surprised at how quickly it moved. The meat department in the back has the best cuts of beef, pork, chicken and more. They also have salads, sandwiches and hot food to go. They have a freezer aisle with Jeni's ice cream! Yum! I noticed baked goods by local bakers and a section with a nice variety of seasoning. *The staff here are very friendly and helpful *Parking Lot

If you smell it, you know you are close. Ive been seeing or shall I say smelling this place the last four years while in Burbank. This last drive by, I decided to stop. It is kind of strange. It is a local market but they sell BBQ and all the fixings. There are two lines that take up certain aisles. One line leads to the deli. The other line leads to the registers. Both lines were long. Th deli line offers what every deli has. Sandwich meats, cheeses, salads. It also offers sandwiches, bbq chicken, tritip, etc. I also saw people ordering breakfast burritos at around $8.50. I picked up side dishes. Potato salad at about $4.00 a pound. Mac n cheese at 6.00 a tub and baked beans at $6.00. Everything was great. What was'nt great was the parking. It was a little tight. There is a lot to park in. However it was tight I am a fan and will return.

I came here just for the sandwiches and it was so worth it. An 8in sub for max $12 is decently priced these days. The roast beef was seasoned well and soft. Bread hollowed partly to balance it properly. The sandwich was stacked with ingredients. One of my subs I saved for later and it tasted even better reheated I'll be coming back when I'm in the area

The soups at Handy's is hit or miss. Pass on the albondigas soup and go for the chicken and rice. The tri tip sandwich is ok. It's better by the pound. I didn't car for the ribs. It's a little dry. Definitely get the chips and salsa. I haven't had any of the dinners but I would definitely try the garlic chicken next time. Everything is pretty inexpensive. Sandwiches are massive and inexpensive. Everyone that works there are so nice and accommodating. The market is small but there's a lot of stuff. Plenty of parking in the back.

One of my favorite places to come and get some sandwiches on the way out for the day. They have a nice variety of sandwiches to choose from, on the weekend they're outside with some big barbecues grilling. Which fills the air with the delicious aroma. If I go during the week I like to get a bologna sandwich or a mortadella and if I go on the weekend I get the tri tip sandwich. The tri tip sandwich is a bit juicy so if you're gunna eat it make sure you have some napkins. $13.99 for the sandwich or a pound of meat. These sandwiches are a nice size. Which I really enjoy because it's a good price as well. We like to stop here if we're going to the park or a trip to the mountains. I can eat and I usually get two servings from it. The location is a little small so you might feel like you're always in someone's way. Everyone is nice tho so it makes navigating through the store a bit easier. They also have a pretty good selection of beers to choose from as well as a variety of different items throughout the sore. I also forgot to mention they have a lot of different meats you can pick up and grill yourself. I've been here more than a handful of times and never had any issues.

I've been meaning to visit this place for quite awhile (in my earlier days when I used to work around the area over 10+ years ago) and one Saturday morning took me here. The weekend bbq is the best time to visit! You can easily find the whole city here (or maybe at Portos, haha). It is a local favorite. The hype is real. The market also a decent selection of alcohol and coffee along with produce. Despite it looking like a convenient store (like a 7-11), it offers a lot more for its size. Service is friendly and there's plenty of workers (except for the deli area). Their tri-tip sandwich was delicious and easily satisfied 2 adults. Pricing is very reasonable and reminds me of the bbq you get in SD or Central California. We also purchased potato salad and corn bread as well, and definitely couldn't get to the corn bread. Price / portion- Affordable Wide selection for a small store Tips- -Parking available on the side streets -There is an outdoor section to easily get the tri-tip sandwich. You can order potato salad / Mac salad in the market or get it already weighed out in the refrigerated coolers. -the store has cold drinks as well (-): no dine-in available from what I saw; we ended up eating at the park / library parking lot nearby. This is an obvious - "can't wait to come back!" Spot.

dry old turkey that homemade bbq sauce cannot save

Handy Market has been around longer than I've been alive. It was founded in 1970 and upon entering, it certainly feels dated but there's something to be said about all the colorful and varied produce that's neatly displayed down its narrow aisles, almost like a Wes Anderson film. Imagine rows of radicchio, rainbow chard, exquisite endive, squash blossoms, sunchokes and artichokes, fennel with their fronds tangled in long red chilies surrounded by pungent herbs like perilla, lovage, tarragon. An extra star just for that. But... My only gripe is their weekly Saturday BBQ. Through the years I have enjoyed both kinds of ribs, the brisket, sausages, turkey and chicken that they cook and smoke right outside in the parking lot. Even if you don't see it, you'll smell it within a couple blocks. I can't think of a better way to promote a bbq business and Handy Market knows it. They're counting on all the new customers who get lured in by the intoxicating scent of grilled meats on live fire to try this sad, sorry excuse that they call BBQ. All the meats are dry, tasteless and overcooked. They do not season any of the meat, not even a lick of salt. They want you to buy their sugary bbq sauce and baste them on the grill. Meaning you still have to finish cooking it at home but it was tasty enough and the price was low so it was worth doing for many years. Lately though, it's been expensive and inedible. The quality of all the meat has become sus and I was sold the driest beef ribs with texture like leather, that they probably dug up from the back of a freezer and a smelly turkey leg that's left over from like, Thanksgiving. My homemade bbq sauce could not save either meat and suffice to say I will never order barbecue from here again. What's happened to you, Handy Mart? I just can't believe you've slipped so far. This is the worst bbq in all of LA and I cannot recommend anyone eating here. Those brave souls who do not heed this cautionary tale cannot say you haven't been warned. Good luck.

I finally made it to Handy Market in Burbank after an errand. Husband has heard people rave about it, and let me just say -- the sandwiches? Worth the buzz. I got the Italian sandwich (no pickles or condiments, just red wine vinegar) and Steven had the pastrami, which came stacked with other cold cuts. Both were so good. Like, sit-in-your-car-and-savor-it level good. Five stars, no question. Yes, the sandwich counter is a little slow, but honestly? I didn't mind at all. It gave me time to explore the market, which is full of fun local, organic, and specialty finds. It feels like a cozy little grocery store with personality. I've also heard legendary things about their Saturday BBQ (apparently the tri-tip is the main event) so now that I've had the sandwiches, that's next on my list. I'm already plotting my return. Bottom line: Handy Market delivers. Come for the sandwich, stay for the vibes, and maybe show up hungry on a Saturday to see what the BBQ hype is all about.

Easy parking in the morning. I just came for specialty coffee and they do have a wide selection considering the size of the store. Service was friendly.

I come here for the sandwiches. I love how they are stuffed and very filling. I also love getting their produce here and fresh meats. It is quality. They have parking available overall a good store to go to when you need to pick up something.

Small quaint family owned grocery store that never disappoints- known for their amazing meats and sandwiches and has lots of local food as well. Today I got their famous bbq tri tip sandwich. I ordered ahead of time , you can order in person but always a line (because it's that good!!) this is only available on saturdays and they cook it up all day outside the market. Love how handy market also helps and supports other local businesses, the new magnolia corner gets all their meats and more from there. Love also heading to their deli and getting a sandwich made, you can't go wrong with that!

The lasagna is delicious, and the noodles melt in your mouth. I like it because it's not overly heavy like some other lasagnas. It comes with two piecea of garlic bread. During my last visit, one was a bit burnt on the edges. The pastrami sandwich is really tasty, and the bread is soft but still has a nice chew. It usually comes with marinated diced tomatoes, but I always ask for them on the side. If you dine in, the sandwich comes with two deli sides. On my last visit, I got the potato salad and marinated artichokes and both were great. The potato salad was creamy, and the artichokes were super flavorful. For dessert, I tried the tiramisu, and it was a bit underwhelming. It had a slightly gritty texture. Since it's imported from Italy, I had high expectations, but I'm guessing it's shipped frozen, which might be why it didn't taste fresh. I wouldn't order it again. They also sell Italian cookies and gelato. The cookies are good, especially the raspberry ones. The gelato is really refreshing. I recommend mixing mango and raspberry if you like something tart, or trying the tiramisu flavor if you want something sweeter. It's a cafeteria-style deli, so you order at the counter, pay, and then find a table. They also have outdoor seating.

While we were waiting, my mom suddenly became very hungry. Both she and I tend to get low blood sugar, so when hunger hits, we usually need to eat something right away. Since the car was being washed, we looked around for a place within walking distance and happened to discover this small Italian deli nearby. They offered sandwiches and pasta dishes. Since both my mom and I love pasta, we decided to have lunch here. We ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce (no meat). When ordering, we were asked whether we wanted penne or spaghetti, and we chose spaghetti. My brother ordered the Eggplant Lasagna. Both dishes came with garlic bread, and the garlic bread was absolutely delicious. The spaghetti was so good, and the Eggplant Lasagna was equally tasty. The restaurant itself was very small, but it felt like discovering a hidden gem. I noticed photos of Hollywood stars displayed on the walls and wondered if they were pictures of celebrities who had visited the restaurant over the years. According to the information displayed inside, the restaurant has been operating since 1971, which explains why it feels like such a long-standing neighborhood favorite. The staff members were all very friendly, and I left an additional cash tip. My mom kindly treated us to lunch today using her credit card, and I am very grateful. There were, however, two downsides to our visit. First, I used the restroom and noticed that it had a bad smell there. Second, after checking in on Yelp, I noticed that the restaurant's posted closing time was 3:00 PM. We arrived around 2:30 PM for a late lunch. My brother was delayed because he had to pick up the car from the car wash and didn't arrive until around 2:45 PM. While we were still eating, one of the staff began putting chairs up and cleaning the dining room. By 3:00 PM, it felt as though they were waiting for customers to leave. The front door was left open, and the atmosphere made us feel somewhat rushed. I asked one of the staff members what time they closed, and he confirmed that they closed at 3:00 PM. We quickly packed up our remaining garlic bread to go and left shortly afterward. On a positive note, when I asked for a to-go box, they were very friendly and carefully packed everything for us. Overall, the food was delicious, and the staff was kind. However, I didn't particularly enjoy having the chairs put away and the dining room cleaned while customers were still eating. It would have been nicer if someone had simply let us know that the restaurant closed at 3:00 PM. We would have gladly finished up and left on our own. Despite that issue, I still enjoyed the food very much and was happy to discover this hidden neighborhood gem. I love Italian food, and I've dined at many upscale Italian restaurants with elegant atmospheres over the years. While this place is small and simple, the food was truly excellent and full of flavor.

Their vast variety of dishes from hot cases to cold cases to deli, dessert, bread, beverages is just impeccable. Food is SO delicious that you can't get enough. I bought cabbage rolls, dolma, beet salad from their cold cases, and from their hot cases, got soup-chicken meatball, mushroom, and spicy beef rice. It could have been good to feed an army. Received a very nice welcome from their employees and everyone wanted to help me at the same time. They also have fresh coffee, tea, can food, and so many other variety of authentic food. Prices vary. Depending on what you get. Pretty affordable. Place is very clean, chill, friendly ambiance and all I can say is that this Russian, Ukranian store can offer a lot more than probably our local supermarkets can! Go get your favorite stuff..DELICIOUS & FRESH!! I have been here few years ago and completely forgot about this quaint, lovely hidden gem. Will definitely return again!:-) Indoor seating, parking shared with few other businesses.

We grabbed two breakfast sandwiches, one with bacon and one without, and both were standout in their own way. The first thing you notice? These sandwiches come out piping hot, wrapped tight and ready to go. Crack them open and you're hit with perfectly cooked eggs and an almost ridiculous amount of gooey, melted cheese. Not skimpy, not balanced, loaded in the best possible way. The Kaiser roll deserves its own shoutout: lightly toasted with just enough crunch on the outside while staying soft and pillowy inside. It holds everything together without getting soggy, even with all that cheese. * The meat version had crispy, flavorful bacon layered just right, salty, smoky, and not overdone. * The meatless one didn't feel like a compromise at all, still rich, filling, and honestly just as indulgent thanks to the cheese and eggs. No frills, no gimmicks, just classic deli breakfast sandwiches executed really well. Bottom line: If you want a hot, cheesy, perfectly toasted breakfast sandwich that actually hits the spot, Paulie's is a win. I can't wait to go back for lunch!

The Downtown Turkey (my choice) is pretty basic (which was fine by me) but it was very dry and I only had half, leaving with a stomachache for the rest of the afternoon. My dining companion had the Penne Alla Vodka which she really liked. I didn't get to try any, but if a pasta dish is the winner from a deli, well, enough said. A while back, Yelp listed this as a business to try. I'd saved this for the next time I was in Studio City. My entire feeling while heading home was "I drove all the way over here for this?!"
