    The A5 Cheesesteak!
    Food D.

Yup, another 5 star! You know if it's a butchers, the meat is going to be good... but these people know meat! Quality is king and they wear the crown. First, it's not in the menu yet, but the A5 CHEESESTEAK is FIRE... go now and get it! You'll see in the picture, it's the real deal. Like a bomb of nest and cheese exploded in your mouth as the meat melts faster than the cheese! Then, the pastrami was better than most LA delis (no lie). Perfectly dressed with all the right fixens. You've read enough, go see for yourself why they have a fan base. I'll drive across the city for this!

The meats here are stellar, and the sandwiches are delicious and constructed with flair and a twist. The star of the sandwich menu is their Pastrami. Between a ciabatta loaf, it is different and non-traditional. It tastes fatty and hearty as Pastrami should be. It is evenly seasoned and paired with a modern twist; they call their pepper relish. Portioned as a single serving, it is not your deli-sized sandwich like it should be. Other sandwiches and savory items are equally creative and of good quality. There is no doubt that there is great-tasting food here, and you can notice the attention to detail. Unfortunately, you will spend a premium here. Feeling the pinch is as lacking as the need for a nice, fluffy Rye with a crispy crust.

Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made it out. Went with the Luka pastrami sandwich and honestly? It just didn't do it for me. The pastrami itself is fine; it tastes like pastrami, but that's kind of the problem. There's nothing about it that makes you me go "wow" It's just... meat on bread. Nothing that separates it from what you'd get at any random deli. The cherry pepper relish was a letdown too. I was expecting something with a little sweetness and tang to it, like an actual relish. What I got was basically just jalapeño peppers. That's it. Not what I was picturing at all. The coleslaw? Couldn't taste it. Like at all. I knew it was supposed to be in there but it made zero impact. And the cheese was the same story if it was actually on there, it wasn't doing anything for the sandwich. Oh and the size of this thing for the price? A little disappointing. You're not walking away feeling like you got your money's worth. To be fair, I think I ordered the wrong thing. Looking back I probably should've just gone with the classic pastrami instead of the specialty version; that one's on me. But I would rather go to Brent's or similar for a pastrami sandwich. So I'll be back to give it a proper second chance. But this visit? Wasn't it. Hopefully next time tells a different story.

Lots of buzz about the sandwiches at Papa's, so I went in to check it out. They started out as a butcher shop (they still are), but it's the sandwiches which put them on the map. The menu is written on butcher paper, and seems to change, based on availability. This place is tiny, but they have room to grow. Not long ago, this location was a leather shop, but now it belongs to Papa. There's no in-door seating (too small) but they do have a few outdoor tables. I will definitely be back for the deli counter (they carry choice prime, wagyu beef, Pork seafood, etc), but on this particular visit, I came for the sandwiches. I ordered the Big Papa Pastrami Sandwich, served on toasted ciabatta bread. 14 hour smoked pastrami, vinaigrette slaw, Swiss cheese, lettuce and Aioli. The Milano Sandwich is their version of an Italian cold cut sandwich. Also served on ciabatta bread, it comes with paper-thin salami, arugula slaw, cheese, and roasted peppers. These two sandwiches are the first offerings from Papa. Since then, they have added more to the list. The Luka is another version of a pastrami sandwich, served on sourdough, with pickled Jalapeño . The Big Papa Burger, is served on a potato bun, with dry-aged beef, Cheddar, Caramelized Onions, and Pastrami. Everything is delicious. To say that these sandwiches are excellent, would be an understatement. The quality of the meats and ingredients are on another level. While I can eat the Pastrami and the Milano all day everyday, I am glad that they have added more sandwiches to the list. There is a 4% discount if you pay with cash. Also, get some pickles (not served with the sandwiches). They are spicy and zesty, and you will not be able to eat just one. Papa's is a must for Sandwich Connoisseurs, and foodies alike. 'Four Thumbs Up' for Papa's!

Been here a few times and always got great service, today I was fortunate enough to meet Jack. We had a meaningful conversation about stuff and he's a really wholesome guy. Good vibes all around, Also check out their social media! Usually I get the Korean bowl and a torta but today I got the Milano and pastrami as well as Korean bowl and it was delicious, it's REAL FOOD and is worth it especially when a lot of place's don't even have real food like this. I'd give more stars if I could and truly wishing the best for Jack and Papa's meat and seafood company! Definitely come here for any butcher needs or some real food!

If you're looking for a dank sandwich, look no further. The meat here is impeccable. You gotta just get papa's pastrami sandwich, the crispy ciabatta is the cherry on top. Perfect for sitting outside for lunch on a nice day!

Spicy chicken and pastrami plus 2 Italian sodas ($49). Waited almost 30min (lunch rush). Everything was fresh. Staff were great. Have bought fresh meat from them before but firat time trying their lunch items. The spicy chicken was a mild spice so it was perfect. Everything was balanced well with seasoning and spread and portions. The pastrami was also amazing but I wish there was something acidic added in (pickle, mustard, or sourkraut, etc) to balance the meat flavors better. Will be back to try their bowls.

It's one of those neighborhood meat and sandwiches etc store that the person behind the counter named Jack will make you feel that you have been their customer for a long time eventhough it was my first time there! The Surf and Turf I got is so tasty that I will definitely come back for but will also try all their menu items one by one. Try it guys, highly recommended, 5 stars!

Absolutely outstanding beef torta. The beef was perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with deep, savory flavor, clearly made from high-quality cuts you'd expect from a great butcher shop. Every bite was juicy without being greasy, and the meat was grilled just right to bring out its natural richness. The bread was fresh and sturdy, toasted to perfection so it held everything together while still staying soft inside. The balance of toppings complemented the beef instead of overpowering it simple, thoughtful, and done with care. You can really tell this shop takes pride in their craft, not just in their meats but in how they prepare their food. This wasn't just a good torta, it was the kind that makes you want to come back and order it again immediately. A must-try for anyone who appreciates quality beef and authentic, well-executed flavors.

I just had the best chicken pesto sandwich of my life. 11/10 strongly suggest trying this, if you eat chicken and like pesto you're going to be blown away.

First time here and definitely not the last! I ordered the pastrami and my boyfriend had the prime beef torta -- both were absolutely amazing. The pastrami was melt-in-your-mouth juicy and tender, easily one of the best I've ever had. It had that perfect balance of smoky, salty, and savory without being too heavy. The prime beef torta? Also a knockout. Loaded with flavor, super satisfying, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. You can tell they put real care into everything they serve here. Service was friendly and fast, and the vibe is super laid-back -- the kind of place you want to come back to and bring your friends. Highly recommend for anyone who loves legit meat and seafood done right. Don't sleep on this spot!

While waiting, I could see through the transparent glass window as generous portions of high quality meat were being grilled over Royal Oak charcoal. The aroma alone was irresistible and I ended up ordering beef lule and marinated ribeye as well. My family and I were blown away by the flavor and quality of both. The portions are generous, and the flavors from the marinades and spices are rich and completely satisfying. The kabobs are juicy and can be served on rice or in wraps. Personally, I appreciated the option to purchase just the skewers to take home, since we prefer enjoying them hot over fresh rice with melted butter. The menu offers a wide variety of kabobs, including chicken, beef, pork, quail, and cornish hen. The market and restaurant are exceptionally clean; very impressive!! That said, I would recommend ordring to go, as seating is limited and the atmosphere is minimal. While waiting, I noticed many customers doing the same and also purchasing meats to take home and grill on their own. Theres also a small market section offering drinks, breads, homemade Armenian specialties, and condiments. Parking is convenent, and the location is on the corner of Western and Glenoaks (easy to access from both streets). Bravo to the owners for creating such a high quality restaurant and market. I hope it continues to maintain this standard! We are a fan and I can't imagine getting my kabobs anywhere else in LA.

However, I am compelled to rate this establishment one star due to a particularly unpleasant experience with a female deli employee whose first name begins with the letter "J." Despite my frequent visits, the overall customer service in the deli and meats department has declined. The season butchers have been replaced with individuals lacking the necessary experience and customer courtesy that were previously present. Over the past three months, I have encountered the same issues with this particular employee. It is important to note that the fee charged for slicing a Tri Tip into a carton container is not the primary concern. The issue lies in the employee's behavior and attitude, specifically their unwillingness to properly wrap the sliced meat. This has occurred on multiple occasions, most recently at the checkout counter when the cashier pull the foil-wrapped package from the plastic bag causing the juices of the meat to spill all over the counter. This has happened to me every time this employee has served me. The Tri Tip sliced meat is dry and devoid of juices due to this careless employee's failure to wrap the meat carefully. It is imperative that this situation be addressed. Management should provide this employee, "J," with proper training on how to wrap sliced food correctly. Additionally, it is crucial the ambiance that all employees, including the deli and butcher employees, maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor. A salutation is always appreciated. Despite these concerns, the BBQ remains outstanding as always.

Most BBQ places concentrate on the meat and leave the sides as afterthoughts so that means cornbreads tend to be disappointingly dry. Not this one. This cornbread was moist and flavorful.
