The beans were good enough, but our bowls were 80% juice. The potato salad was, sadly, the bright spot of the dish, but it seemed to be an obscure grocery store offering - not a fresh made restaurant side. The service was dismal, and we weren't checked on at all until I waived over a manager to ask about the "meat" we were served. He offered no apology or fix, and just blew us off. To top off the terrible meal, the bill showed that the menu prices were not honored. Our plates and drinks were all billed higher than shown on their menus. This place has a great concept, but the execution was pitiful. It's a shame that Cotullas has gone so far downhill from what it used to be. We opted for flour tortillas that were warmed for us. The regular barbacoa had a greasier, fattier meat composition but I thought it was pretty delicious. If you want a leaner meat get the cachete instead. It is still very tender. The tortillas were really nice and chewy and the salsa and pico de gallo helped it to not have as greasy of a taste. At 7 dollars for half a pound and 11.95 or 12.95 for a pound not including the tortillas, I felt the prices were very fair.
