To me it's crazy to think of a car rental location as being good enough for a five star rating but damn if this Alamo location hasn't time and time again proven to be top notch in every way. Rate: Usually not the cheapest at the airport but by no means is it the most expensive either. You can try to save a few bucks by going with someone like Thrifty or Enterprise but then as the saying goes with you get what you pay for either in terms of car selection/quality/being asked fifty questions as to why you won't accept every add on they ask you about. Car: They initially gave me a Ford Fusion that looked alright but the trunk was very small due to it's odd design and when I got inside it looked like Cookie Monster rented the car before me as there were crumbs all over the front two seats and in the center console. A quick trip back to the counter led to a free upgrade to an almost new 2017 Chevy Impala LTZ which was a really sweet ride in every way. Service: As I mentioned prior, I felt the need to go back to the counter versus sitting in dirt/filth/crumbs and the person I dealt with had no problem giving me keys to whatever as she was mortified about the condition of the first car. It would be nice if they would have someone out in the temporary rental lot to do returns like other companies have but that's not a big deal as the walk to the terminal is very short. Overall it was another good experience with Alamo. They get the fifth star from me simply because over the years they've proven time and time again that at least in this area they have the best mix of service + car selection + price. Garbage customer service. Was told someone would be at the desk by customer service around 4 pm until 1 or 2 am, walked up around 1130pm and the lights were off and whomever was supposed to be there had locked up and left. Customer service unable to contact anyone local, so no help was coming. Was told to return tomorrow for car. Was just left stranded at the airport by this company. Did not have any cars available for my 7 pm reservation, despite my arriving at 7 pm. Waited about a half hour for a car to be ready. Reminded me of the Seinfeld skit in which Jerry had to explain to the clerk the purpose and function of a reservation. However, the clerk was pleasant and responsive, running out to the lot herself to try to move things along. That was really nice of her. read more

Well this was my 2nd time renting with Alamo. 1st and 2nd time the car was good no problem on the road. 1st time the lady that took care of me was Amaizing. Her customer service skills were unbelievable. However I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the 2nd time the woman that took care of me customer service was horrible. She had an attitude problem. When I showed up at the counter I said Hi I have a reservation. She extended her arm never greater me, never looked at me just said driver's licenses and credit card. It was horrible. I gave her the cards and I'm just standing there while she is just on the computer. She looked so miserable. Then I asked her about my insider car upgrade and she rudely looked at me and with attitude said there's nothing in the computer that says that. I then told her online on my insider acct it shows it. She then asked me do you have a coupon? That's the only way. I told her no I do not is online. I then said look I left my phone if not I would should you. She just ignored me. Gave me the papers to sign never explained to me that she was going to take a deposit out of my credit card. This experience unfortunately was horrible. It makes me think twice on going back and do business with Alamo just because I will dread to do business with that miserable person. read more

It was my first time renting with Alamo back in September for a quick weekend trip. My flight was cancelled and pushed to the next day and they still had my reservation waiting when I got there the next day! They were very friendly and even upgraded me for no extra charge! And they have the best prices out of every place I've checked! I definitely will continue to rent from Alamo again and again. Recently rented a vehicle to go to NY. and we picked it up in the evening, to make a long story short we were greeted by a young lady named Kait. She was a sweetheart, pleasant, courteous, a sense of humor! and not pushy. She also gave us 2 other vehicles to choose from, sweet! The last time we were there a few counters down, we weren't so lucky, an older woman seemed like she didn't want to be bothered. First I booked a full size van only to be called weeks later saying that they don't have those at that location. I was told I'd be upgraded to a full size SUV at no additional charge which was acceptable. Fast forward to the day before my trip. I call to make sure they're still honoring my upgrade and I'm told that I've been downgraded to a mini van which should be acceptable to me since it seats the same number of people. Well the mini van is MUCH smaller so even though it seats the same, we spent a very like time squished into half the space I was promiseD. Then I Left a very expensive pair of sunglasses in a vehicle that we rented and called the SAME DAY it was dropped of to retrieve them. I know. I should've gotten them out. My bad. But I know the exact location of where they were. Nobody answers the phone when you call. I left a message that night. Called again the next morning and left another message. Finally called over and over until I got someone, and a guy named Corey answered the phone and very rudely said that they were too busy to take my call. He said he'd call me back after checking the lost and found. Never heard back. Finally after 3 messages and 3 days of calling I got through to someone named Kate who was nice enough checked right away and gave me an answer but of course by 3 days later they were gone. Super unprofessional. Will never do business here again. read more

We always rent from Alamo. Our most recent experience was in Orlando, FL. We had a van for 8 days. Customer service was excellent and any issues were resolved promptly. I highly recommend this rental car company for your next trip. read more

Bottom line up front: terrible; Alamo doesn't do "reservations". I'll stick to the facts and forgo any embellishment. 1) It took 30 minutes for me to be helped in the airport terminal 2) The car I reserved was not available and I was downgraded 3) They did not have the child seat I reserved in advance. Alamo employees repeatedly offered me an inappropriate "booster" seat, saying that "it was all they had" and they "didn't know when other car seats would be returned" by other renters. Regarding the child seat, my child is 2 and requires a child seat, not the booster seat for older kids. This drama unfolded at 11:30pm, otherwise I would have rented with another company or taken a cab. Eventually after an hour+ of arguing they produced the right seat. I suspect they borrowed it from another company. NOTE: The same people operating Alamo also own/operate the National and Enterprise franchises at ABE. I'll avoid them in the future and I recommend everyone else do the same. read more

cant rent me a car because i dont have a credit card...when paying cash or paying from my debit visa card..because i'm not flying into airport or out of an airport..just how stupid is that...your company sucks... i have a valid drivers license, with a valid address and picture on it...i have valid insurance card with home address on it..can't believe you can't rent a car to someone who is paying on a debit card...you suck!!!! read more

Just an overall positive experience. No line to rent so no waiting. Car was ready, they upgraded me to a full size, brand new car with 2.000 miles, no extra charge. Alamo is clearly the worst Rental Car Agency. 7 days ago I gave this company a factual and horrible review. Christopher from Alamo promptly responded on yelp the next day 9/16/2015: "" Chris, we're listening and would like to address this with you directly. Please email care@alamo.com with your contact information, the reservation or rental agreement number, and the details of your rental so we can research this properly. When emailing please reference # 150916-001970. Thank you.- Christopher"" I emailed him, explained what happened, in detail and, provided them all the information on the receipts : (RA#830126293) (RES # 61781344) and (QS# 777500850). I also gave them the dates and times: 9/12/2015 at 10:31AM. Returned9/14/2015 at 2:20pm so they would have everything needed to "handle this directly". What a joke. They obviously troll these review sites sounding like they care about Customer Service. Its a lie. I would stay as far away from this company as possible. Here are the particulars of what Alamo does: It started with the surly counter lady yelling at the customers 2 ahead of me in line. At first I was sympathetic to the lady as I figured the customer was being rude. Wow was I wrong. I had used Alamo's pay now feature on-line, which means I am paying but Alamo isn't done charging. Apparently, the terms of the rental are changed when you arrive and have no other choice. They honored the price of the car but decided that they wanted a $150 deposit from my American Express Card to make sure I return the car. Apparently, at 49 years old with an American Express card I am a likely candidate to steal Alamo's car. The Alamo website did not let me know that after I paid for the car that they were then going to add more terms to the contract. Online, I also checked in so that I could just go to the counter, get my contract and keys and go. Not at Alamo, National or Enterprise at LVI in Allentown. No, they want to run through the high pressure selling of car insurance routine that I had already refused on line, twice. They insisted on knowing my insurance company and deductible? If Alamo needs this info, why isn't it part of the online registration and check in? After that she demanded a cell phone number. I refused as I don't want to share my cell phone number with a company that doesn't honor their agreements. She said I have to or she can't give me the car. Again, I already paid Alamo and checked in online. Now, I'm not getting the car unless I share my cell phone. I said i don't have a cell phone. She said "everyone has another number". I said not me. She wouldn't stop and then said I should give her "a cousin or family member's number" I said I don't know any off the top of my head. We then had the Mexican standoff where she stared at me for an uncomfortable amount of time as though I was an errant 5 year old who would break down and confess the number. This is just no way to be treated. Again, I already paid for the car and already checked in online at Alamo. Fed up, I told her if it doesn't matter what number then just make one up. Unbelievably, she continued and said she can't rent me the car without another phone number. Again, I already paid for the car and checked in online! I told her I already paid and if she doesn't want to give me the car then she should call Alamo Corporate and explain the problem. She gave me the car. Avoid this company. With Priceline you can get just as good a deal with a company that will honor all of their agreements. read more

I don't usually write or read reviews. Anyway, I rented a compact car at the last minute to drive to New York to surprise my mother on her 90th birthday. I told the counter agent about my overnight trip to Long Island and she seemed to care about what I was doing. After seeing that I'm a 6' 4" round guy she upgraded me to a midsize SUV without me asking and for no additional fees. Upon my return the next day, I was about 2 hrs late. To my delight I had the same agent that helped the day before, she asked was my family surprised, and how my trip was. I told her it was great they were surprised, but the traffic coming back was horrible and that's why I was late. Without asking for or expecting anything she removed the late fees as a birthday gift for my mom. This is an example of great customer service. I wish I knew her name, Great job! I hope my next experience will be just as smooth and uneventful as this was, we will be renting an Alamo car in April for a week from Orlando Sanford. read more

Like other Reviewers, I have used Alamo as my "go to" rental service for decades. I'm generally in and out quickly at the counter, and get the car (or similar) that I reserved. On this visit to Pennsylvania, I did not get the vehicle (or similar) that I reserved. In fact, they were all out of full size cars. I ended up with a choice between a van and an SUV. Neither thrilled me, but I decided on the SUV. The Rep was pleasant, and did not try force me to purchase needless insurance. The vehicle was clean and ran well. The 4 star rating is based solely on not having the vehicle I reserved. read more

I arrived at the airport to pick up my car and the woman at the counter didn't even acknowledge that I was standing at the desk, as she was on her cell phone. I had to say excuse me, when she looked up and said I need a drivers license and credit card. She was the least bit friendly. They were out standard cars, so I was upgraded to a full size car for no additional charge. Although I had driven a push to start car before, nothing was explained to me about the car, such as how to start it. Not everyone renting cars has driven one and if I wouldn't have driven one before, I wouldn't have known how to start the car. It would also be nice if there was an attendant in the parking lot, taking keys from people that are dropping off the car, instead of having to go into the airport, as parking is limited in the front. Also, during inclement weather you have to walk down to the airport, which isn't a far walk, except for when it had snowed almost 32 inches. When I went to drop the keys off, the woman at the counter was very friendly, completely opposite form the woman that I dealt with when picking up the vehicle. I will continue to rent from Alamo though, as your prices are great! read more
