Go to Miami Airport to rent a car instead! Had a car reservation at 11am. I arrived at 11am and did not leave this place until around 1:30pm. I waited 2.5 hours for a car!!!!!!! They wanted to give me a compact car when I specifically reserved a SUV. We had 4 big suitcases and they were not going to fit in a compact car. They were just giving people random cars and did not care about the size someone needed. What threw me off the roof was that a family of 5 came about an hour after of us waiting there and one of the employees took them to the corner of the parking lot and gave them an SUV!!?! We were there first, but they got the car. This place is unfair. We confronted the employee about this and he lied to us saying they were already here before us! HOW IF I SAW THEM AT THE BACK OF THE LINE WHEN WE WERE CHECKING IN!?? The manager John, does not know how to manage this location. He was disrespectful and did not know what to do. He has no problem solving skills, no customer service skills, no communication skills. We told them why dont they just ask for stash of cars from nearby locations? They said they couldn't do that. After waiting another hour, they told us that they had cars coming from Miami Airport. I THOUGHT THEY COULDN'T DO THAT!??? I don't know how he is still there managing that location. It's either the company's fault for allowing them to fail customers this bad or the manager doesn't know how to speak up and ask for help. This location does not have any stash of cars for people to pick-up. They rely on returns, which is horrible. Miami Airport is literally 15-20 mins away. Had a car reserved - had to wait hours as there was no cars!! They oversold!!! Was given a smaller car, ordered a full size. My girls are traveling with suitcase on their lap! Still billed for full size car!!! John the manager was the absolute worst!! Unprofessional and unable to affectively handle any level of stress. Told me he wasn't going to give me a car and that I had to get out! Threatened to call police - which I welcomed as all I was asking for is the car I booked and to see if there was any compensation for the inconvenience of taking hours from our vacation. Absolutely Horrible Experience - Stay Away from Alamo Miami Beach (Especially Tate L. Edwards) I travel frequently and have visited over 40 countries, but I have never experienced anything remotely as disrespectful and unprofessional as what happened today at Alamo Miami Beach. I had booked and paid for my rental car weeks in advance, expecting a smooth pickup as part of my well-planned vacation with my family of five. I arrived a bit later than my original pickup time -- 12:00 PM instead of 10:00 AM -- only to be told they had no car for me. Not even close to the SUV I reserved. Instead, Tate L. Edwards, the assistant manager, offered me a giant van that seats 7 -- completely impractical for city driving and not what I reserved. When I explained that I needed the SUV I booked because of the size of my family and luggage, his response was, "That's all I have. You can sit and wait." Sit and wait... on my vacation? Really? I calmly asked if he could check with the customers whose returns were due to see if any were still on track. His answer? "No, they're international." So apparently Alamo doesn't have long-distance calling capabilities? Or is it just this location refusing to lift a finger to help? When I said I didn't appreciate his tone and attitude, he told me to "get out" if I think he's rude. Then, unbelievably, he and a few other employees started laughing at me. Yes -- laughing at a paying customer standing there with her family, trying to salvage her vacation. And when I asked for his name to file a complaint, he mockingly handed me his business card and said, "Good luck with that." I immediately called Alamo corporate. After being transferred from one department to another, I was promised a call back. Of course, no one ever called and the issue was never resolved. No car, no refund, no apology -- nothing. Bottom line: DO NOT rent from Alamo in Miami Beach. They are disorganized, unhelpful, and outright disrespectful. And if Tate L. Edwards is what they consider management material, this company clearly has no standards. It ruined an entire day of our vacation and left me feeling humiliated and angry. Awful experience renting from this location, poor customer service! I reserved a car for a 8:30am pickup on the weekend...showed up about an hour after that time. Here's what went wrong: - Filled out all the paperwork from 1st Alamo agent, and he stated to have a seat & car would be ready in "just a sec." I waited for approx. 10-minutes and watched as 2 people after me got their cars right away. I inquired again to the same agent and he stated it will be "just a minute." More time passes, more customers get their car right away while I still wait. 2nd agent then tells me "it will be just a minute" & "they're getting the car right now." Over 20 minutes have passed and very frustrated now... - When car finally arrived, I expressed my frustration to the 2nd agent about why I had to wait 20+ minutes for the car after the paperwork, when others got cars immediately. He was dumbfounded that I was ticked about waiting, and gave pretty bad reasons why I had to wait (...everyone else got SUVs, not cars.) B.S. *Car should have been ready already, since I picked up after scheduled time. - Air conditioner was broken in the car! If I had to sum up my experience in one word, it'd be awful. Families with children must read. You can't imagine how frustrated we were when we got to pick the rental car up. Let start by saying that we are a family of 3, our son is 2 year old so we always need child seat every time we travel around. We booked a compact + insurance + CHILD SEAT, they had car seats available for that location and the booking was pretty smoothly. We arrived to the office early in the morning, despite the line we had to wait, we were really excited about getting the car and start our trip to visit the Everglades, Florida Keys and Miami. Once it was our turn, the rental car female agent asked for our personal information pretty roughly ( I thought she may had a bad day , who knows ) and then she said it might take a while to get the car ready. Anyway, we asked about the child seat and then she said that they did not have child seats in that rental location , ( whaaat ???? ) ; with bad manners she emphasize that they are not allowed to offer child seat since COVID pandemic ( whaaat again???? ) . Obviously the next question was about the booking we made through the website because it did not say anything about it. Her answer was amazing : the website is always wrong ( lol hope Alamo business people don't read this review ). Actually she went further, she told us that no other rental car was allowed to provide car seat ( whaaat!!! The third whaaat in less than 10 minutes ) So, we decided to walk out and look for our options in that new scenario. We were so disappointed and especially frustrated after that unpleasant experience that we were wondering whether we had to update all our trip plans but, before moving forward, we dropped by Sixt rental cars, which was actually quite close to Alamo/Enterprise office. They were so kiiiind, they said that they did not have any car for the range of days we were going to stick around but they might try to help us looking for some alternatives. They ASSURED that there was no restrictions for child seat, they've been offering since the beginning of the pandemic. We had some hope. Therefore, I picked my phone and call Alamo customer service, a sweet person told me that it was actually possible to rent child seat in the entire set of Florida and she did not know why that young lady who assisted us in the Alamo office said that. She was so helpful.......she said that I could go to Walmart or Target and buy one child seat really cheap and quick ( WTF!!!!!! , really? Are you kidding me? ) . I asked if that was a deal, if they were going to compensate me with any kind of discount so grab the child seat may worth it. SILENCE.......for a few seconds the answer was the same sound you can hear in the desert...... Anyway, we filled a complaint; it was supposed that we may get an answer in the next few hours or the day after. We got nothing, non surprising. Well, to wrap this review up, I can tell you that we finally made it. We did not make it through Sixt cause they did not have any option which fits but we found another rental car company not too far from that location where we rented a car + child seat eventually. read more

We arrived on 12/24 and went to the branch to pick up our reserved rental. There was a short line (3 people ahead of us) and were called by the next available agent. Our agent, Laura Rodriguez, was the most efficient customer oriented person that we have ever deal at a car rental - specially on a holiday. She made sure that we were happy with the car, explained the terms and conditions of the agreement and provided us with a few tips. I am taking the time to write this review because I feel that Laura is a genuine person who is willing to assist and goes beyond her duties. Fast, prompt counter service from a friendly agent. However, it took 25 minutes to receive my car. When I asked if there was an update, I was made to seem impatient and was told the car was on the 4th floor of the garage which is why it took so long. Nonsense. After finally getting the vehicle, I saw that it was being washed. I appreciate that effort, but don't lie about it! The car was also not a full tank which was fine as I would just return it at the same level. However, it's the details. Not to mention you'll almost always lose $ trying to fill it exactly to anything below full. The good news was that the location is so high volume, they had no compact cars and bumped me up to a Jeep instead. For the $24/day, I was more than happy. This place will charge additional money to your credit card with no explanation. I had a long term rental with them for over a year. They fired the rep I usually dealt with and then charged my card an additional $1800 without any explanation or corporate being able to explanation where the charge came from. Bad Experience all the way! Poor Customer-Service! Threatened us with police! Throw us out of the branch! Here is how it started... Part 1 I booked with a German voucher and handed it in. Mr. D asked me for my DL and I gave him my American one. Then he wanted to refuse my booking. I stated, that I could him my German DL and my passport. I did not wanted to take it and refused to take my voucher. Then he told me to leave the branch because there is nothing he could do for me! I was shocked that he just throw me out without trying to help me. I did walk out and called the Customer-Service and after 1.30 hr on the phone they fixed it and I had to provide them with information when my flight back to Germany was! So, after 3 HOURS of discussing I was able to drive away! Never heard a Sorry from the Manager or Mr. D or Mrs. A! They even made me print my voucher and also had to bring it to them, although I knew from a friend of mine who booked 2 days earlier that the voucher was not necessary! Is that how you solve problems!? Making is as hard as possible for the customer to rent a car? Part 2 Today I got a call from my friend and they told me that they had the exact same problem. Mr. D and Mrs. A just removed her insurance from her German voucher and CLAIMED , that she had residence in the United States because she said she does not stay in a hotel but an apartment!!! Mr. D told us that we now had to leave the branch and threatened us with Police?! Are you kidding me? So I called the Customer-Service of Alamo and they tried to call the branch several times but could not reach them. We heard it ringing but neither, Mr. D nor Mrs. A answered the phone. So Alamo's Customer-Service was not able to help us because nobody answered the phone. Unfortunately, we could not talk to the Manager. On top of that they handed us a dirty car! I can't explain how excellent Alamo was while I was in Miami. From the phone rep (Rhonda) to the pick up rep (Natasha) to the team at the airport who scanned the car back in. They're all AMAZING. Customer service is very important to them and they made my rental experience phenomenal. They're friendly, accommodating and flexible with GREAT rates. A last minute rental on a major holiday was only around $35 AND they were open ON Memorial Day. Amazing. I've already recommended them to several people. My first experience with Alamo will likely be my last. Renter beware!! I secured my reservation and went to pick up an economy car. They did not have any economy inventory at that time and offered me an upgrade for $15 TOTAL. I said okay. Then they told me about some fueling service for and additional $15, to which I initially said no. Then he said to think about it...where else can I get a full tank of gas for just $15? He said I get the car full and return it empty for just $15. WOW! Guess what? I got the car at 1/4 tank. When pulling the car out, I brought that to the attention of the person checking out the car. They said just to "Let them know." I let them know and they said I don't need to worry about it because I got the fuel service. I'm not sure why that meant, but I wanted to get out of there due to time constraints. I ended up filling the tank and it was on 7/8 when I returned it. Can you imagine my surprise when these son of a guns handed me my final bill??? it went from $117 to $197 for just 2 days!! They charged $25 a DAY for car class change and 52.68 for the fuel option. This company is sly and deceptive and it is unlikely that I will ever do business with them again. I will stick to the other major companies that don't need to lie and deceive to get business. read more

We reserved a car with this company today. It was scheduled for 1 o clock. We walked there from our hotel a little early so we could get there with plenty of time. The line was so long. Almost out the door. It was a unique situation. One person was working the counter at first. The majority of people in line did not speak English so it was very difficult for communication. The process seemed to take a very long time because of the communication barrier. Another guy came to help after a bit. He was very nice. He made sure we were taken care of. They gave us a great car. Whatever you do do not rent a car from these thieves. My wife and I rented a Mitsubishi for a day. We had the car for an hour and a half. We shut it off and went to our room to pick up cash and clothes. 20 minutes later we started it up and it sounded like the muffler was broken. Really loud. We took it back and got another car. While driving they called my wife and said we stole something under the engine. They were rude and sarcastic running my day on vacation. They want to charge us 500 dollars for an engine part that fell off of there car! You would think they would be honest! Avoid at all cost! Go to hertz! There is an active fraud investigation against this company! They are charging customers insurance for there defective car engines! Reported this terrible company to my American Legion and Government Union who does business with them. I do not know about others' experiences here, but mine was phenomenal. I had just returned from Thanksgiving in California (I am a Miami Beach local). I returned on the Saturday following Thanksgiving - a busy, busy time of year for rental companies. I realized, in Miami, that I left my car keys at the hotel in CA. The hotel would take 3 days to mail the keys to me. I rented a car at Alamo. The guy at the desk, Richard, was amazing!!!!! Aside from being really pleasant, he asked me why I was renting a car if I lived so close. I told him what happened. He upgraded me for free, to an SUV similar to my own, given that I have 2 kids. Such a great welcome back to my home city!!!! I hear the other guy that works there, not Richard, is a jerk. But Richard is great, and because of his kindness, I recommend Alamo. read more

I had an 11AM reservation here and arrived right on time. After arriving and checking in, I was told that they ran out of cars and I needed to wait for a car to be delivered. We were told that it should take 30 minutes. An hour and 15 minutes later... the manager takes me to my car. She also apologizes for the wait and that I did not have to fill the tank up upon return. "It was the least I could do!", is what she said. I get in the car and as I'm about to pull out of the station I realize that there is less than 1/4 of a tank in the car!!! I pointed it out to an employee that it sounded that the manager was compensating for a full tank of gas. He radioed and she said no only the $5 worth of gas still in the tank is what I get. Basically, she made me fill the car's tank up and made it feel like I was getting a benefit. I actually left more gas in it than I was given so in the end I didn't get any benefit. I was basically Tom Sawyer'd into doing her job filling the tank and thinking I was getting something out of it. read more

The staff were friendly and we felt that we had been treated with respect and weren't tried to be upsold to or ripped off by any of the gentlemen at the counter. This is much better than how we (two females) were treated at other rentals during our trip. The office location is difficult to find though, and not many signs to help. We picked up in Miami beach and dropped off at St Petersburg. We were disappointed that no shuttles or drop offs to our hotel were available and we had to pay 50 dollars to taxi from the airport to our suite. The gentleman at the drop off was also very courteous and we have no complaints about their customer service! read more

We decided to go for lunch right down the street and come back. When we returned, there were still people waiting for cars. We ended up waiting almost 4 hours before they had a car available for us. We had THE BEST experience at this Alamo Rental car while vacationing on Miami Beach in March 2019. We only needed a rental car for 2 days to get to Fort Myers for a Red Sox game (day trip) and then for a local day trip for the day the next day. Staying at a nearby resort we were able to walk over and rent the car. I had reserved our reservation online and when we arrived to pick it up we were waited on by Chris Terlizzo, the Asst. Manager, who was so accommodating and friendly. We had rented a full size vehicle but didn't love the options of the cars available when we arrived. Chris allowed us to upgrade to a Ford F150 for no additional charge. He first checked out the truck with us and he thought it smelled funny and wanted to do additional cleaning on that one so he brought us to 2nd Ford truck on the lot which was in perfect condition. We loved the truck and rode to and from Ft. Myers in total comfort! Our experience at drop off was also so easy and I would highly recommend this Collins Avenue Alamo location for your rental needs while vacationing!!! read more
