As someone who dreams of being a breakfast critic as a career, I've been everywhere in town to get breakfast and I've gotten a variety of things. This is my #1 place to go and I go there every weekend. Everything is amazing and always topped with cute orange slices and garnish. Staff is extraordinarily kind and friendly. Location is very small though. Doesn't bother me, but if you're someone that doesn't like to be near other people at their tables or need to have a serious conversation with someone, this isn't your place. The reason why I gave this cafe 3 stars is because the booth I was sitting in had a leaking air conditioner, it was raining when I was eating there, and water was dripping on me and the person I was sitting next to while we were waiting for our food and a little during(but not that much). Other than that, the food was okay and the service was great too. read more

A day late but heres my take. The service here is exemplary. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, definitely worth it. Wife had Banana Walnut Pancakes, perfectly made. Fluffy in the middle and a little crisp on the edges. This little quaint breakfast spot is a terrific find. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area. read more

This is absolutely the home town diner experience I expect when coming to a local breakfast joint. The staff was super friendly giving up recommendations of other restaurants to try on our travels. We stopped in for lunch based on the great Yelp reviews. And we were not disappointed. Maria had the special which was a hot pork sandwich with home made mash potatoes and green beans. It was a good sized portion and she said it was excellent. I had a burger and fries. The hand made patty was cooked to order and very good. I had a piece of home made cherry pie and it was good. Biscuits and gravy were good. Nothing impressive though. Service was very good. However, pasty was very dry and when I asked for hot tea I got "great value" brand tea bag!!! Really? "Great Value"? Cute and quaint place with very friendly employees. Stopped here on way up north after seeing previous reviews. Good food, large portions with homey atmosphere. We came right after Saturday morning breakfast slam. Employees were quick to get our table wiped down while giving great service. Small place, so recommend not going at prime time. As we were leaving people were lining up for lunch. We were told owner is "there all the time" making sure food is great. Thanks, and we'll be back! read more

Every townie calls this cozy cookhouse "eat" like the '50s era neon sign outside says. Seating is limited, but the traditional Michigan, American, fare is especially tasty and reasonably priced. Whenever someone from out of town is looking for a breakfast spot, I send them here. The regulars would agree that this hidden gem is worth the find! read more

This place is extremely overrated, i went here two years ago ordered regular pancakes and there was a few green chunks of whatever in my pancakes, i went back again last week and ordered eggs benedict and it was absolutely the worst eggs benedict i have ever had in my life. read more

I was super skeptical about the 4 star rating on this place when my husband was reading the yelp reviews to me. I am happy that we went, yes, it is basic diner breakfast food (which is really all you can find for breakfast in BR) for the most part, but everything was freshly made and seasoned well. If you like sweet breakfast items, my daughter had the red, white and blue waffles which I thought were so good, still trying to figure out how they got the caramelization on them which was like a burnt sugar which just made them really good. My husband had a skillet type breakfast and it had loads of delicious cheese melted on top. They also generously butter their toast pieces which is a huge bonus to me because I hate when they bring dry toast and I have to try and put frozen butter pats on it. (I know small detail but something that drives me nuts). It's also super kitschy as far as decorations go which is kind of charming. read more

Went camping at the Paris Park campground for a weekend. We always go out for breakfast when camping because it's just easier and I researched places to check out while in town. I thought we'd go to Alamode one day and somewhere else the next. We enjoyed this spot so much, we went back again the second day! My husband loved the Red, white and blue so much, he got it both days. I had the eggs benedict the first day and the daily special (2 eggs, bacon, toast, loaded hashbrowns (onions & garlic) and a small pancake). Our friend with us got a pasty on the first morning (I don't remember he got the second day). The restaurant is small, like others have said, but it's worth it! The service was great. We're going back up there for Labor Day weekend. We'll definitely make another trip! read more

A La Mode Cafe has character, a wonderfully friendly atmosphere, and abundant and delicious food! We're so glad we stopped! We had pancakes and, having a choice of what we wanted in them, we chose bananas and walnuts. We were served two pancakes that covered the plate along with warm syrup. Stopped in while waiting for the hubs to finish an appointment. We were greeted in this Midwest country time capsule by a very kind lady. The charm of this establishment is beyond belief. Kitschy country brick a brack abound here. Love the sign at the cash register that states, ABSOLUTELY NO PROFANITY!! This is a family cafe. I was in a breakfast kind of mood, so I ordered the veggie quiche, with hash browns and home made biscuit. OMG!! The food is soooo good. Portobello, broccoli, green pepper, tomato with provolone and cheddar. So good, and so much. Couldn't finish. Decided to purchase some beef pasties to take camping. Oh, and I should mention that the lunch specials are Polish sausage with sauerkraut or homemade goulash!!! Yes, GOULASH!!!! This place is great. Friendly, local and quaint. This little place is close to home, so my husband and I stop in occasionally for breakfast. It's not really anything unique or different, but the food is decent quality and the prices are low. My great grandpa ate here every morning for years! Not a bad place if you can get a seat. :) read more

Food is good, but make sure you block out a lot of time for your meal. There are only about 10 tables in this small restaurant. Service isn't the best, but they are just college students. Grew up in Big Rapids but never went to the funky looking place that said "EAT" on it. While visiting had breakfast there, it was delicious! My daughter loved her "Mickey" pancakes (M&M eyes!) and I loved my banana pancakes and my eggs, bacon and hash browns. Ambiance was cute, not a big place but so glad we went, will go back! read more

The food is amazing, but that's just it. The service was simply insulting. We happily waited twenty minutes to be seated. However once seated we were forgotten. I kindly reminded the waitress that our coffee wasn't served and Instead of getting our coffees she gave us bad attitude. We did excuse ourselves and did leave.
