Our local go-to donut spot in Pinole. Busy area due to PVHS being nearby and shopping plaza across the way. The donuts will go quick so you got to get there early enough to get your choices. The breakfast sandwiches are also a must try, quick and easy to make but it's filling. Affordable compared to other nearby establishments where you can get those IG snapshot worthy photos of donuts if that is what you are looking for.

I'm not the type that actually pre-plans donut purchases. I'm like a Method actor. Like Brando when he was young and full of testosterone, I live in the moment. Only now I'm a Method eater. Like Brando when he was old and full of estrogen, I gorge in the moment. There was plenty of selection in this Pinole shop but apparently no one to serve me. Oh wait, she's on the phone. Yep, still on the phone...OK, she's getting off now. Yes, here I am. I decided on a couple of $1.50 cake donuts, a Red Velvet and a Maple Nut (photo: https://yelp.to/rVgDor5snq). I didn't bother to take them to go. I ate them at a blue formica table because remember I eat in the moment. They satisfied my Method exercise. FOOD - 3.5 stars...yep, they were donuts alright AMBIANCE - 3 stars...formica city SERVICE - 3 stars...well... TOTAL - 3 stars...method to my madness RELATED - Exploring western Contra Costa? A classic donut shop in Pinole just 1 mile for me, friendly service, classic coffee, and donuts made the old-fashioned way. Simple, yes, satisfying, basic ambience, but this place takes pride and what they do. My first visit was on national donut day in the winter time this past Sunday, November 5. I got an old-fashioned maple which hit all the areas of satisfaction and balance in a classic maple doughnut. I'm excited to go back and try some more, supporting this little local gem...

Nothing beats a donut shop that bakes traditional donuts. My fave...the old fashioned donut with a piping hot cup of coffee to dip it in!

There were three staff members in total (thin build, Latino male), medium build Filipino female with glasses, and a thin build Asian female). The male was working on an in person order when I walked in, seven to ten minutes later the same woman was standing around waiting for parts of her order - no other in person customer was being assisted. A young woman, who had placed an online order for two coffee drinks asked repeatedly if anyone was going to make her drink order. It took two staff members - Asian female, Latino male) - to help figure it out, each debating who was going to make it. The Filipino female kept coming from the back to bring sandwich items to seated waiting customers. The male continued to look at online orders before helping the family of three in front of me. When their order was finalized, the male walked away from the register and proceeded to look at the online orders. He said nothing to the line, did not acknowledge our presence. He went to the back to make a sandwich - again two staff members working on one thing (Filipino female, Latino male) while in person customers stood and waited. The Filipino female asked what him what was in the bag while standing at the front of the store. The other Asian female was still working on the coffee drinks from the online order from when I first walked in. After about ten minutes of being walked by and disregarded, while waiting to be acknowledged, I asked is anyone going to take our orders at the counter? The male replied, "Yes, but we have a lot of online orders and we'll get to you shortly." So online orders take precedent over those waiting in store to purchase? If this is the case, then why are there only three staff members who are clearly not organized nor serve in the capacity of enough staff to assist customers online and in person? If I had not asked about being helped, no telling how long staff would had continued to ignore us. The Filipino female walked over, asked how my day was and asked what she could get me. After each donut selection shared, anything else?... She was being passive aggressive in her tone and with her words. As I was waiting to select my receipt options, she saiid, "All of that for two donuts" to the male. Who both went into the back while the rest of the building line waited. When I finished my receipt selection and entering my phone number, the father and son behind me were still waiting without any assistance or staff acknowledgement.. If I had not promised my daughter a donut prior to order road trip, I would have left long before. Worse service as it was nonexistent to those in person. There were three staff, two were doing staff and the third at the front was nonexistent. Do better Dynamite, your customer service was absent yesterday, staff not at all prepared or organized and your store is not staffed to assist both online and in person without neglecting in person. Communication was nonexistent as well, leaving customers standing in line without a single word or thought of returning any time soon. Online orders, you'll be waiting too. There were three people who walked in, going directly the register with a phone in their hands. They were waiting two for the pickup while the young lady wanted her coffees made. The ambiance here...people were upset across the board. I would rather drive to Pinole and get service, Dynamite donuts are not worth that wait or nonexistent level of service.

Every bite is hearty and it's truly a "healthy" packed portion sandwich - they do not skimp on ingredients, it's well worth the price and you will be satisfied after you consume it! I've also recently had their Vietnamese coffee which is well worth the sweetness, caffeine and calories. I have also had smoothies and a vanilla latte from time to time. Customer service is always exceptional (even when it's busy!) and the funnest part is they sell LOTTO tickets at the counter or by the machine. It's clean, there's a good variety of drinks, donuts and sandwiches to order for brekkie to lunch or anytime- it's Great spot. I highly recommend this spot.

But my favorite go to orders are The Vietnamese ice coffee or Thai tea, And the Combo lunch sandwich or the #7 breakfast sandwich. To see how much Michelle has upgraded and transformed the Buisness over the years is inspiring! It's like night and day seeing how it used to look inside compared to now. The remodel and constant upgrades that have been made show that the owner reinvests heavily in the customers experience and that alone deserves a 5 star review. Me and my family will always support this amazing small Buisness.

We've been to his smash burger spot in Richmond, and my parents tried his pop up back in the day over by the Crane way Pavilion (IYKYK). We were all impressed by the overall look and feel of this spot, from initial walk-in, to the food, and service. With country music playing, a clean and bright interior, and the sweet smells of juicy meat and sides waiting, we knew we entered the right place. We tried it all! Nachos for the table to start with deliciously diced brisket, beans, chives, cheese, BBQ sauce, and more, a loaded potato with pulled pork, meat plates including the ribs, sliced brisket, chicken, and a pulled pork sandwich. Everything was amazing and done right. You could tell there was love and care in each bite, which I feel for East Bay BBQ, is important. The portions were stellar, the quality was excellent, and we enjoyed sides of corn, mac and cheese, and cole slaw. There really isn't much else to it! We sat at a long table and there were rolls of paper towels attached to it which I wish we could get our "after" pic besides just the before pics because we def got saucy! I like the innovation of the loaded nachos and potato with proteins if you don't want a sandwich or a plate..great shareables, but also great portions for your own meal (or second meal too). They also do their smash burgers here, and had key lime mini pies for dessert. No beer/wine, but soft drinks. Plenty of parking adjacent and fair pricing for BBQ. We already can't wait to come back ~ I have my eye on those hot links! Thank you for bringing the vibes to Hercules.
