    Coffee with the City

I came here due to Coffee with the City. I was amazed how many people come by before they go to school and work. I will say that the owner of Alamode was very nice giving me a great service. I ate three donuts and I was still there for 45 minutes enjoying the people coming by. Alamode has been in business since my days attending Pinole Valley High School. I wonder if Pinole would declare Alamode Donut a landmark. Looking from the inside I can see a view of Pinole Valey High School or MOD Pizza. I will say that I enjoy looking through the window to see cars parking. Keep doing good business Alamode Donut

Our local go-to donut spot in Pinole. Busy area due to PVHS being nearby and shopping plaza across the way. The donuts will go quick so you got to get there early enough to get your choices. The breakfast sandwiches are also a must try, quick and easy to make but it's filling. Affordable compared to other nearby establishments where you can get those IG snapshot worthy photos of donuts if that is what you are looking for.

I'm not the type that actually pre-plans donut purchases. I'm like a Method actor. Like Brando when he was young and full of testosterone, I live in the moment. Only now I'm a Method eater. Like Brando when he was old and full of estrogen, I gorge in the moment. There was plenty of selection in this Pinole shop but apparently no one to serve me. Oh wait, she's on the phone. Yep, still on the phone...OK, she's getting off now. Yes, here I am. I decided on a couple of $1.50 cake donuts, a Red Velvet and a Maple Nut (photo: https://yelp.to/rVgDor5snq). I didn't bother to take them to go. I ate them at a blue formica table because remember I eat in the moment. They satisfied my Method exercise. FOOD - 3.5 stars...yep, they were donuts alright AMBIANCE - 3 stars...formica city SERVICE - 3 stars...well... TOTAL - 3 stars...method to my madness RELATED - Exploring western Contra Costa? A classic donut shop in Pinole just 1 mile for me, friendly service, classic coffee, and donuts made the old-fashioned way. Simple, yes, satisfying, basic ambience, but this place takes pride and what they do. My first visit was on national donut day in the winter time this past Sunday, November 5. I got an old-fashioned maple which hit all the areas of satisfaction and balance in a classic maple doughnut. I'm excited to go back and try some more, supporting this little local gem...

I came to Alamode in search of croissants for a party. Although they specialize in donuts, pretty much everyone at the party was like, "WHERE DID THESE COME FROM?!?!" Of course, as I sourced out my croissant shop, Dad said Costco, Mom said Safeway, and I wondered if they even enjoy croissants. Instead, I looked for a local shop, figuring they would do it right. When I came to Alamode the day prior, they were already running short of croissants around 10:30am. I tried one, which they toasted for me, and boy was it crumbly and buttery. I ordered a dozen plain croissants and a half dozen pain au chocolat (chocolate croissants) for the following day. 1. If you want 18 croissants, you do have to special order them. They don't really make a lot of these in a regular day. However, they accepted orders the day before. 2. These people are clearly hardworking business owners who appreciate each of their customers. Support them. The food is great, the service is kind, and you're making a big difference in a small community.

Nothing beats a donut shop that bakes traditional donuts. My fave...the old fashioned donut with a piping hot cup of coffee to dip it in!

Every bite is hearty and it's truly a "healthy" packed portion sandwich - they do not skimp on ingredients, it's well worth the price and you will be satisfied after you consume it! I've also recently had their Vietnamese coffee which is well worth the sweetness, caffeine and calories. I have also had smoothies and a vanilla latte from time to time. Customer service is always exceptional (even when it's busy!) and the funnest part is they sell LOTTO tickets at the counter or by the machine. It's clean, there's a good variety of drinks, donuts and sandwiches to order for brekkie to lunch or anytime- it's Great spot. I highly recommend this spot.

But my favorite go to orders are The Vietnamese ice coffee or Thai tea, And the Combo lunch sandwich or the #7 breakfast sandwich. To see how much Michelle has upgraded and transformed the Buisness over the years is inspiring! It's like night and day seeing how it used to look inside compared to now. The remodel and constant upgrades that have been made show that the owner reinvests heavily in the customers experience and that alone deserves a 5 star review. Me and my family will always support this amazing small Buisness.

What impressed me about their dinner menu is the drinks, very strong and delicious. The food was okay... we ordered a burger with fries and wings. The meat was cooked medium rare, if you don't like it cooked that way make sure you let them know. I really enjoyed the wings, they were well seasoned and give a decent portion. They also charge for extra ketchup which I've never experienced, understandable if it was ranch or some other special sauce but it wasn't. All the servers were polite, attentive and the place was clean and felt welcoming. They have a bar that I'll probably go to next time just for the drinks. I recommend to order their hazelnut espresso martini and the madre mía both drinks were amazing!
