Both of my experiences with Alan's exceeded my expectations. The first time, Alan's inspected a leak... They could have taken the money and replaced the rubber seal for a quick fix. But they were honest, diagnosed the problem in the pouring rain, and set me up with solution for the long term. They made zero dollars but gained a customer for life. The second time they replaced a windshield on my six month old Prius. There were eight different types of glass for my car... Christina worked with my insurance company to make sure the proper glass for my model and options was ordered. Not only that, but she fought to keep the price within the deductible while getting factory parts instead of the cheaper aftermarket products suggested by my insurance company. Yes, they are very friendly. I had my windshield replaced back in august 2021. I thought it was pricy but I don't know much windshields. The lady told me had I come sooner before the chip cracked it would've been a fraction of the cost (She quoted me 25$). I only had myself to blame. However I came back today thinking okay 25$ I'm here before the chip cracked. No, the chip was 90$. I will say they are nice and transparent regarding options. I will come back again. I do see myself coming back. I don't mind paying 90$. Now that I know how much it costs to fix chips and replace the windshield I think this place is worth the price for the service they provide. Alan's was recommended to me by my body shop guy (who I trust...), and who takes his own cars and trucks there. I needed a rock chip repair, and I just drove over and they took care of it immediately. The whole process takes a little over an hour. They have a guarantee that if the crack gets worse after the repair, they'll credit the cost of the repair toward a windshield replacement. I would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

BEST PLACE YET!!!! I walked in bright and early in the morning with my side door glass smashed and my cracked windshield. The girl in the office was a breath of fresh air. She was bubbly and ready to work even at 7:30 am before they opened at 8:00am. She had my glass ordered and my appointment made with in 10 mins. Called me a cab and I was on my way to a better morning. She called at 2:30 letting me know that my car was ready for pick up and that she was able to handle all of my insurance needs. Having trouble finding a ride back to the shop before closing, the girl offered to stay a little bit after work to make sure I got my car for the next day adventure to Arizona. My car was cleaned out perfectly. There was not one piece of glass anywhere not even when I shut the door did you hear it rattle. The installers were great and very friendly. More recently I went back to have a rock chip repaired and the girl in the office, the owners daughter, was the one who repaired my chip. Not only is this an efficiant business but its family owned and operated. The workers act like family, they care about what they do and never once did I see any frustration from them. And the reason why I say that is while I was there a customer came that wasnt too happy (from having his car broke into, had nothing to do with the shop itself) and they all handled the matter as if it was the most delicate situation ever brought to them. This is the best place to get auto glass replaced in town as far as I am concerned. I used to work at a rock & gravel company. Naturally we had broken windshields just about what seemed every other week. We'd always take them over to Alan and he'd fix them right up at a fair price. I was back in last week for the first time since I left my former company. It was bitter sweet. Bitter because I had chipped my windshield but it was great to see the guys again. A little pricey but couldn't find a better deal that at Alan's. I scheduled an appt. for next week for rock chip repair. Price isn't bad and the service so far was lovely. This place SUCKS. Awful, awful customer service. It should have been a red flag that they took negative 10 seconds to put my windshield in...but I was blinded by their cheaper pricing. Maybe two weeks after their "warranty" expired, my mechanic pointed out I had a very small crack on the bottom of my windshield. He said, I should check with the guys who installed it, b/c it was definitely not a rock crack, but how it was installed. I took it back to Alan's where he told me that it was not longer their responsibility, it wasn't a big deal and definitely would not spread. He said, if for some reason it did, not to worry, they would give a me a "great deal" on my next windshield. A few weeks later, a huge crack appeared on my windshield, starting from the bottom. I took it back into Alan's and he of course, took no responsibility for any of it, and his "great deal" was seriously like five dollars off the original price. SO WEAK! To top it all off, it looks like 3rd graders installed it the second time, it's totally crooked...the VIN number looks like it's sideways and the rubber things on the side of the windshield stick out. I don't know much about cars, but I do know that this place SUCKS ASS and I'll never go back. read more

I needed a quick front window replacement for a car that was being returned to the dealer--it had a very small chip that was not acceptable under the return terms. Alan's office assistant got the glass ordered immediately, and got the car in the very next morning for its repair. The work was expedient. There is no fancy waiting room, but they make up for that with good service. When there was a problem with the insurance information that was given to them, they got on the phone and got that issue resolved immediately also, in less than 24 hours. I have not encountered this level of customer service in this area at any of the car places. read more

Fast service and cheap prices. I went in for a window replacement because somebody threw a rock through my window. Made an appointment the day before at the time that i wanted. I was referred by one of my friends that was a mechanic and my mother and i was glad i did. This place was substantially cheaper than where i was planning on going and they were able to replace the window and clean the inside door of the broken glass in an hour. My car's driver side mirror failed (apparently a heating element was leaking oil all over the back of the mirror leaving a very discolored and obscured (not to mention not-so-safe) view). Toyota's only remedy was to purchase a new unit at an outrageously high cost. I went to a Alan's at the recommendation of a local collision repair service that said Alan's could likely help me out. I now have a new mirror that was simply applied over the old one. The turn signal lights even show through. Good as new and at fraction of the cost. I am thrilled!! read more

My wife and I were on vacation in a rented RV when we had an accident and shattered the drivers side window and rearview mirror. I called the local Monterey CA area Ford dealer and they said it would take 2 weeks to order the part and install. I asked the Ford service rep "If this was your vehicle and you had to leave town tomorrow what would you do"? Without hesitation he said I'd take it to Alans Glass in Seaside. We were at Alans when they opened. Customer service was outstanding. We were quickly given an estimate, reasonable price, not necessarily the cheapest but we were in no position to shop around and they knew it so the reasonableness of the price is more important to note. We were NOT abused on price in any way! Since we were not locals we had to hang around while the part was ordered and delivered by a local delivery truck so we saw the shop in operation. Busy place and great service to everyone. I asked about the broken rearview mirror on the drivers side. I broke it during the accident. The bracket and mirror holder were broken in addition to the actual mirror which was no longer there. There was not a local part available to replace the mirror so I assumed that we would have to wait until we got home to San Diego in order to replace the entire assembly. The replacement glass for the window was delivered to Alans mid-morning and they got right on the replacement, great job and clean up from the accident. After the install we were asked to wait until some paperwork was finished. After about half an hour of waiting I was becoming impatient, after all how long can "paperwork" for a cash sale take. We were paying out of pocket and would deal with our insurance company later. Turns out that the delay was caused by Alan (himself) who was making a temporary replacement for our rearview (sideview) mirror to allow us to safely complete out trip. He was able to install a temporary mirror that he made from some mirror material that he shaped to fit the damaged bracket. He then temporarily repaired the bracket. None of this additional work showed up on the billing. We drove out of there around noon and were able to complete our 3 weeks additional vacation. I now have the temporary fix mirror hanging in my workshop as a reminder to go the extra mile in customer service for my customers. Great service, reasonable price, terrific memories and a valuable lesson in customer service. read more

Horrible customer service!! If you just need a window replaced you're probably fine to go here. But when I went back for more work to be done.... They told me I wouldn't be charged to look at the problem then tried to charge me for an hours worth of work $70!!! They try to over charge for the timing, if you go there dont leave. Stay and make sure your getting what you pay for. Buy your own parts, if you can. I will never go back to this place. I tried to continue to bring my business there but every time I went back it just got worse and worse. read more
