I was able to find an OK pair of shoes here, although they were really expensive. But the biggest negative was the poor customer service. The woman who helped me was very, very rude. She acted as if me being in the store trying to find shoes was extremely inconvenient for her. All she cared about was making a sale. She even sold me (very expensive) insoles that didn't fit correctly and ended up hurting my feet badly. She didn't explain how they were supposed to fit-- if she had, I wouldn't have bought them since they obviously weren't the right fit. I went to another store where the salesperson told me the insoles were not fitting correctly, which is why my feet hurt and I was so uncomfortable. Overall, I would prefer not to shop here again but if I do ever choose to go back here I definitely won't work with the same woman again. Rude customer service is definitely not appreciated and neither is selling a wrong item just to make a sale. Their shoes and insoles are crazy expensive and for the money they better fit correctly. And good customer service wouldn't hurt either. read more

I was new to the world of foot challenges. The staff was patient and knowledgable in explaining what would best assist. It was educational and a great introduction into a whole knew subject matter for me. I left feeling much more confident and after using the products I purchased I was suddenly pain free! Greeted as I walked in by Marci, the assistant manager. I asked to be shown New Balance extra wide shoes. Gave her my pediatrist consult sheet. Was shown 3 pair of walking shoes. Light gray, black and dark blue. The light gray looked great. She put a New Balance arch support inside and said I would need Scotchguard and a spot remover kit. Also she suggested new socks. Not thinking it through I made the purchase. Got home, got out of the car and scuffed the toes. These would be impossible to keep clean. Returned the next day. With the shoes, the socks, the Scotchguard and spot removal kit. Although obviously worn once for a few minutes she accepted the return. They would not be resalable and would need to go back to New Balance. Marci asked what other type shoes would I like. Less expensive New Balance in black as they will never look dirty. I made the purchase. Got home and my wife said they were the ugliest shoes she had ever seen and would not be seen in public with me in them. Back to the store. The Manager, Barbra said no problem. I got the same shoes in white leather. They look great and I have gotten complements. They are easy to keep clean. I was sitting in the store for twenty minutes and nobody helped me. I really wanted and new pair of birkenstocks and they ignored me and told me that it was passed their business hours. Why did they not tell me that they are closing or ask me to leave or offer to help me? I love shopping local but it look like I'll be buying my shoes at the mall. I took my mother here for shoes. She has a hard to fit foot and is very particular in her shoes due to neuropathy. The salesman, whose name I don't remember and I wish I did, did a great job. He was patient and knowledgeable. We bought several pairs and will go back for more. They have a very good selection of brands and styles. read more

I encountered a nightmare salesperson at this show store. She appeared to be bored and disinterested and acted as customer service was a chore she was not up to providing. After giving her what I felt was good background on my shoe needs she directed me to a single brand of shoes. When I mentioned that the price was quite high and asked if the shoe she was recommending ever goes on sale she told me in a very snotty off handed way that they don't "do sales because they don't have to". After this experience, I wouldn't buy a pair of shoes at this store if it was the last store in Tucson. Shame on you! You just never know who you are dealing with and the extent of their influence on other buyers. Bad behavior, very bad mistake. I am not naming you here but your management needs to pay attention and you need to get another job! read more

My husband & I have shopped at this Alan's store for years with Marci, mainly! But I've never been treated badly here, always kind, friendly making every effort to find just the correct fitting comfortable shoe for us! We had a problem recently with my husband's last walking shoe, so we came in & asked Marci if she had seen this before. She said, No but took them back & gave him another pair. We went in today for me to try a different kind of shoe & she tried 2 sizes to make sure I was happy with the fit & brought every color in my size so I could decide what I liked best! She did that on her own without me asking plus extra styles, too! I asked about a small wallet with credit card slots & she walked the store to make sure that I got to see whatever she had! We are good customers but there are times when we don't buy anything. She still treats us just the same & we never feel unwelcome! Definitely our favorite shoe store! Thank you! read more

I hate spending money but understand the importance of investing in good running shoes. I reluctantly went to Alan's/New Balance because they had the shoes I had researched online. I was initially put off by all the salespeople, worried I'd be hassled incessantly and leave feeling swindled. I was really surprised by how friendly and honest the saleswoman Crystal W. was. She even went in the back to find last year's model of one of the shoes I was interested in, which was on clearance for half the price. It's what I always imagined salespeople were suppose to be but never were. I will definitely go back when its time for a new pair! read more
