I am only writing this review because its 422am and I cannot sleep due to this purchase/interaction ordeal. I left a small critique on Google maps for this purchase and the owner or employee contacted me by text messages basically telling me they didn't like my review (I really wish I could post the screenshots). Anyways, It wasn't til I got home when I saw their response on Google Maps that really didn't sit right with me. What they posted and sent me in text messages were things they didn't tell me when they asked me to keep my car overnight I had just found out with the internet because of the review all the reasons why they asked to keep it. I didn't know there was already an alarm on the vehicle working or not (I just bought the vehicle 2 days prior), I didn't know that it took 2 hrs extra because of this, I didn't know that the owner had to come in 2 hrs early the next day to finish my vehicle, I didn't know that your policy is usually only take drop offs before 8am because you never said this to me, you broke your own policy and blaming me for it. None of this was explained to me til a day AFTER I paid them, drove away and left a review. He stated it as if they did me a favor, a favor I didn't even know I was getting, how could I be grateful for you saving me $200 and you never told me what or why? When they asked to keep my car, I asked why and they responded "car stuff" and issues with the car before me. So now I am in a situation that if I ever have an issue with my alarm (which I don't think I will) I will never go back. The receipt they gave me says ALARM WITH REMOTE START ON FACTORY-INSTALLATION OF COMPONETS- YOU SAVED $200 then shows the 582.00 after tax on a sheet of paper and then a smaller receipt stapled to it for 596.00 no mention of brand or model just blank. I just don't get it, it was a professional exchange and the work was done, the employee was cool and I was satisfied when I shook his hand and drove away, not once was their attitude with me or him so all that was well. I had an audio/CD/back-up camera installed. I am quite happy with the appearance of the system; it looks like a factory installation. And I am delighted with the sound quality. Prices were competitive with other nearby audio stores, but the staff here impressed me as the most competent. Other places told me my steering wheel controls would not work with the aftermarket unit, but Alarmtronix make them work. read more

I brought a semi truck in here to have a stereo head unit and a powered sub (which I supplied) installed. They called me a couple hours later and told me the truck was finished and to hurry back to pick it up because they were about to close and they didn't want it parked there over night. They charged me $400, which I thought was a little steep, especially since the stereo sounded horrible, then on the way home i noticed that none of the gauges on the dash were working. A few minutes after that, the truck died. After paying a tow truck $650 to get the truck off the freeway and brought into a Truck Repair shop, I was told that whoever hooked up the stereo in that truck wired it into the wiring harness for the ECM and burned up the computer. Five days and $7800 later, I was back on the road again. read more

I was given a $290 estimate and a 3 hr timeline to install a dash cam with a rear view cam. And a little speech about how it requires expertise in avoiding airbags which in turn justifies the price. Went to Sound Decisions in Racine who did it for $75 in one hr. I had started the installation myself but Sound Decisions rewired it to ensure that the complete installation was up to their standard. I have also received estimates in California in the range of $100-$150 for a complete installation from scratch. read more

The people at Alarmtronix are very kind and honest . They put in a remote starter for me and explained everything before I left in detail on operating it . A year and a half later I noticed that although the starter worked fine the horn was out of wack when I used the remote . I called and the office manager has me come in right away . The owner reprogrammed my remote and said if any problems occur to bring it back . The warranty had expired but he didn't charge me for diagnosing or solving the issue . I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am that was broken into 3 times! Never thought I'd have to buy an alarm for such an old vehicle. Did not have the extra money to spare but I sucked it up and called Alarmtronix. I was informed that I should arrive by 9am, to get me in right away, and I arrived bright and early by 8:45am. They got me in right away and began installing the alarm. Took close to 3 and 1/2 hours but the wait was worth it due to the peace of mind it brought me. [Also becoming a legal gun owner, having obtained my Wisconsin Conceal and Carry License brought even more peace of mind!] lol. The alarm is GREAT! It's made by Compustar, has a 2-way pager with scrolling messages that tell the owner if the shock sensors were activated or if the doors or trunk were triggered and more! The shock sensors are sensitive but not overly sensitive during my testing. After enabling the shock sensors via the remote and enabling the alarm, I tested all areas of my vehicle. I gave the windshields, front and back, a firm knock and the alarm blared immediately! I pulled up on all four door handles and the alarm went off immediately! I even began knocking against the lower body of my vehicle and the alarm blared immediately! [Alarmtronix staff were friendly, courteous and did an excellent job installing my new car alarm on a pretty old vehicle and the price of the new alarm plus installation was more than reasonable! $239.99 plus tax totaled $253 and some change. I will be a repeat customer for as long as they are in business!] Prior to doing business with Alarmtronix, I looked online for car alarms and the price of the alarms alone were close to $200 dollars! LASTLY, NO ONE has bothered my vehicle after getting the alarm installed and the broken vent window fixed! Looks like most reviewers either had a great 5-star experience or a horrible one with a 1-star rating...almost nothing in between lol. It might just depend on what day you come depending on how busy they are, but I had no problems when I had a remote start installed. I've looked up other places and they're the most reasonably priced. They also offer lifetime warranty for remote starts, so it's a great deal. They were a little hard to reach via phone at times, so make sure to call earlier than later. read more

Very bad experience. Randy, the owner is extremely unorganized. Couldn't keep track of the scope of work or information for my vehicle after discussing with him on 3 occasions. Gave me specific instructions for drop off, which I followed, and when I called to cheick in, he had no idea who I was, which vehicle was mine, the work I had requested, etc... He also became angry and combative when I asked about why he didn't have my information or work order (which I physically watched him write down in what I assumed was his scheduling book). He kept repeating how many people were waiting in line and that he didn't have time to argue with me. He was obviously overwhelmed and flustered. Very poor communication and personal skills. Please do not take your vehicle here. They installed a non- functioning keyless entry / alarm system . In the process, they disabled the cruise control and running lights. They did take the system back out and refund my money, but they could not get my vehicle back into the condition it was brought in to their garage. Had a remote start installed last week and was told would work 800 -1,000 feet from truck. Well that's not even close to reality. Office door to parking garage is less than 500 feet and will not work. So it might be 800 feet if no other cars or structure is around the truck. Highly suggest taking the car elsewhere. $800 to get my equipment installed.2 amps/ component speakers. The ground was screwed in with 4 screws when the factory battery ground was right next to it. Soldered the power cables together, heavily wrapped in electrical tape.No distribution block used? Mess of wires underneath the trunk floor board. Not worth $800 at all. I chose to work with this place due to it's location . Most places I've seen around are in sketchy neighborhoods so yeah , I gave them a call . The man who answered directed me to another who does window tinting and when I called there was no answer. Shortly , I received a text message asking if I was looking for a window tinting job and I told him of my situation . He was helpful the first time around but he seemed to not want to set an appointment nor reply back anymore after the first day . I tried contacting him once again the following business day and he replied back in short answers . I stopped in to see if they could help me with my remote starter that wasn't working half the time. They immediately looked at the remote starter under the dash and knew what the issues were. Brought my car in and gave the guy the keys to install a remote starter. Went back 6 hours later and my car was towed from the lot as the guy working says it was parked in the lot unauthorized. When he gave me the key back he said it was my error and not his and they would not pay for the tow charge. Wow, what a bad experience. read more

Was going to buy a car starter from alarmtronix. They said they had a sale (which was a starter for $400). I then asked if they could use the starter I had from my old car (not the same make or model), that is not possible according to alarmtronix and I would have to buy a new one from them. I then called stereo1one and asked them for their prices. They sell car starters for $250 with no sale. Also I then asked about my old car starter being installed which according to them is no problem and is even $100 cheaper. Obviously alarmtronix just wanted me to buy the new one from them while charging me almost double. If your going to go through alarm tronix I highly recommend to continue looking at other options. I have been having my car alarms and stereo installed since the 1980s. They always perform professional quality work. My recent car was a honda accord. Excellent install on the remote starter alarm system and the kenwood excellon unit with complete speaker replacement and woofer box with amp. I would never trust any other shop to perform my installations. I would not recommend going here. I for sure won't be back. I was told it would take 4 hours to install my remote starter. They would call if it was done earlier or would take longer. After 5 hours I didn't hear from them and they wouldn't answer the phone; it went straight to voicemail over and over again. So I went in. They said it was going to be another 2 hours. No call about it!! The receptionist was sent home sick. The owner said he didn't want her coughing on everyone. As I waited for 2 hours I heard him coughing non-stop. 7 hours to do a 4 hour job and no notification means a very unsatisfied customer.
