Was quoted a price and scheduled a drop off. A month before drop off, my quote was increased and I was told the original one was incorrect and they weren't sure who gave it to me even though I had emails. I was called multiples times after booking and they left voicemails that they needed me to call them back immediately. Only for them to ask if I was still dropping off on the scheduled date. I had to tell them to stop calling every other day to confirm. My car made it to the destination safe and sound but the customer service is lacking. I have shipped vehicles before, including to and from Hawaii. We are moving to Alaska and booked auto transport for 6/2. Last week, the girl on the phone said it may be a day later, they won't know until they book a carrier. I said one day later was ok. Today, 6/1, it was getting near close of business, so I called to see if they can tell me when they are picking up since we are moving household goods, picking up an RV to drive to Alaska (with reservations along the drive), getting pets health certificates, etc. A lot of moving pieces to coordinate, to include vacating our house we sold. The girl on the phone just kept repeating the same two generic sentences, "all dates are estimates," and "we will notify you of the date once a carrier is booked," "all dates are estimates," over and over like a robot. No matter what I said, she just kept repeating the same two sentences. Absolutely devoid of any professionalism or politeness. I told her twice to stop repeating herself, I heard what she said. I am asking if she can tell me how long we are expected to just wait and see? I asked how is this a business when people cannot plan around an undetermined timeline? She just kept repeating the two sentences. I asked to speak to a manager, and she said the manager was out of the office today. I said "of course they are." I was upset and asked again, how long am I expected to wait before finding out when our vehicles will be picked up? And this time she cut me off and said she was going to terminate the call, so I hung up. The ONLY way to contact them is via the Alaska phone number. No email, no customer contact form, no chat. You are on hold a long time before someone picks up. It may have been the same person each time, but the first person was much nicer and actually responded to my questions, rather than just repeat the same two sentences like a robot. Just because the website says the dates are "estimates," it is NOT an industry standard to give ZERO timeline to customers! Is it a day, a week, a month... what? I called another place to try to book something, and they immediately gave "1-5 days after the first available date" as a window. Alaska Car Transport can't even do that. But, now it is too late to switch companies because the first available date is 6/4. We cannot sit here and wait 9 days to leave. $7635 for substandard service. This doesn't include the money we are loosing for every day we have the rental car and didn't need it, or the fee for changing 9-days of reservations. Once my vehicle arrived at its destination port, I received a call from the driver who was transporting my vehicle the remaining eight hours to me. He stated that Alaska Car Transport was not answering their phones and that they needed the company to release the cargo. I then had to call Alaska Car Transport myself to request that they complete this step. I was promised port-to-door service and paid for port-to-door service. However, the driver instructed me to meet him at Lowe's in my town. After waiting there for over 45 minutes, he called and clarified that he actually meant the Love's truck stop, which was another 20 minutes out of my way and outside of town. I scheduled a car to be moved with Alaska Car Transport end of April 2026 to be picked up May 29th 2026. Everything seemed good to go leading up to the pick up date. I received many emails saying: "Your shipment is confirmed and on schedule for your requested timeframe. This is the most up to date information regarding your shipment and no other action is needed at this time." So of course like any normal person I would think sweet we are good to go. Boy, was I wrong. May 29th rolls around and it's 2 pm with no pick-up in sight. I called the customer support line and was told "we do not have a carrier who has picked up your contract to pick up your vehicle" and I was livid. Mind you, we were moving in two days. I get not having someone pick-up the contract due to demand and what not, but at least let your customer know ahead of time and not send you BS emails saying you're on schedule. Long story short two weeks goes by and there was no movement on the pick-up of our vehicle. So we decided to jump ship and go with Alaska Auto Transport. They are loads better and picked up our vehicle within about 1.5 weeks of scheduling with them. I got a quote for my Mom to ship her car from AK to TX from port to door and it was pretty reasonable. I went with her to drop her car off and it went very smoothly. She was told she would receive an email went it arrived in WA and then again when it was picked up by the driver. She received both emails and then a text from the company, Elite Services, two days before delivery to verify the address. The driver called and said he would be delivering her car a day early and gave plenty of advance notice. The car was delivered as promised with no issues. read more

You're better off not even shipping your car to Alaska if you have to go with this company. 1st Experience shipping to Alaska (1 year ago): - Waited all day just to be told that the driver wouldn't be picking up our car as scheduled. - They lost my car in Seattle and the driver took it to a dealership without my consent. We got shaken down for an additional $1000 of work, even though the car ran fine upon pickup. - We could not reach customer service at anytime, even though we literally had multiple phones calling at the same time and were on hold for hours. Alaska Car Transport didn't even notify us that our car wasn't going to be shipped at the port, the tracking software showed it being shipped on time. 2nd Experience Shipping to Alaska (past month): - Against better judgement, we opted to give Alaska Car Transport another chance to ship our other car due to the price. - We were given a week notice of when our car in the south was going to be picked up. My family waited all day and the driver never showed up. After two hours on the phone with multiple people, we were told that the carrier they assigned to pickup our car cancelled a week before. No one notified us of the cancellation, even though Alaska Car Transport called the day before to confirm the pickup details and make sure the car would be ready the next day. - After another day of nonstop calling (three phones calling and being on hold at the same time), we were told that they didn't know when a driver would be assigned (could be weeks). - We eventually cancelled and took our business elsewhere. I've shipped the same vehicle to and from Tacoma 3x in the last 2 years. The first two times were with Wrightway and I had zero issues but I thought I'd save myself a couple hundred dollars and went with Alaska Car Transport (not Alaska Auto Transport) who said they had 2 spots available for 7/31/24. I dropped my vehicle off on 7/31/24 and it was confirmed to ship out same day for a 5 day voyage and an agent confirmed it had shipped late 7/31/24. I called Jessica (Jenna?) the day after the arrival date for an update and she said didn't know where my vehicle was but would email the port to try and locate it. I went straight to the port in Anchorage and the security office instantly told me my vehicle was still sitting in the ship yard in Tacoma. I called Alaska Car Transport for an update and they again told me that they were waiting for an email back from the port. After telling her I knew my vehicle hadn't shipped, she said the port in Tacoma is busy but I would receive a call back from a manager (Lana). The manager never called me back after several attempts to reach her. After a lot of back and forth, these are the points that Jessica made: -ship dates are estimates only (my vehicle eventually shipped 10 days after my "confirmed" ship date) -only the port decides who makes it on the vessel -they could not tell me when my vehicle would ship out -they would not reach out to Matson about when my vehicle would ship -they are a 3rd party broker -it is "very common" that vehicles don't make it on their ship date Upon pick up, a Matson employee confirmed the following: -Alaska Car Transport does not have an office or employees in Tacoma or Alaska, they work from New York (they ship to/from places other than Alaska) -they have seen and heard of A LOT of problems with AK Car Transport, he doesn't know how they are still in business -the guy told me he's supposed to hand out a little piece of paper with AK Car Transport contact info if someone is asking but he doesn't know if it's even legit -Alaska Car Transport is a 3rd party broker so you can simply book directly with Matson (he even mentioned checking with competitors like Wrightway or Tote). I used this company twice in past years and at those times, the service was great. The last time I shipped an auto from AK to the lower 48 with them was two years ago. I have had an extremely upsetting and disappointing experience shipping my car with Alaska Car Transport. I worked diligently to select shipping dates that worked with my own move timeline, and bent over backwards to deliver my car to the port during the narrow windows of business hours (work hours for me too!) that they allowed. Then, without my knowledge or consent, my car was shipped a whole week early, throwing off the entire timeline and putting me at insurance risk as the car is now out of the state where it's insured before my new insurance kicks in. Furthermore, I am now being assessed storage fees for having the car at Alaska Car Transport's facility, which is exactly what I planned so carefully to avoid. To add insult to injury, the initial person who helped me, Zack Zangle, has completely ghosted me, and the person who I was passed off to, Lana Ramis, has been extremely inflexible and insensitive; my questions have not been answered (why was my car shipped early??? why am I being charged for storage on a timeline that I never consented to???) and the responses have put me in tears with every email exchange. I did not submit a claim because during correspondence with the claims associate there was no indication of leniency in their 10-day deadline which I would never have achieved. I received my rear wheel drive convertible with summer performance tires on 12.22.22. I immediately attempted to trailer it to the car wash; however, the car wash was closed because it was -13 degrees and I even had to rope in several helpers to push it into a storage unit due to its lack of traction. After a holiday vacation I acquired cable chains to merely drive it from a storage unit to the car wash so that I could run it though twice. Then recently with the drier roads I was able to drive it home and spent the last week vacuuming and detailing the car. Just for the folks that have made it this far I will qualify the simply "dirty" state of the vehicle. Sand and gravel (ranging in size up to 3/8" diameter) was found throughout the engine bay (under the fuse box, on top of the engine, subframe crossmembers, top of the transmission, and essentially every proverbial nook and cranny). I disconnected the battery and had to remove some components so that I was able to successfully power wash the engine bay. Currently there is still gravel underneath the windscreen and down into the cavity that houses the soft top. Right before writing this update, I closed the hood and the impact released gravel/sand from the under carriage. Now Alaska Car Transport cannot control the weather, but how was I supposed to successfully submit a claim in the state I received my vehicle? How was I to find paint scratches, pitting, and paint stripped areas (all things found) before washing and detailing the car? John, I fully agree with you. THOSE WITH MODIFIED VEHICLES BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I have a lifted jeep with aftermarket bumpers. They initially quoted me for a stock vehicle at $3,500, but after sending many pictures and measurements they adjusted the price to $4,600, which is reasonable due to additional weight and dimensions. No bid deal. But here is where it gets shady... The day my vehicle arrives in anchorage, I'm sent a bill for an additional $1,116 for weight of personal items. I did ship some personal belongings which I estimated around 450lbs. I was told it was ok to estimate and an adjustment would be made at $1.15/lb if the weight wasn't exact. Somehow they weight 881lb of personal items which was way off... THE INITIAL ADJUSTMENT IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH WAS ONLY FOR THE DIMENSIONS, THEY CHARGED THE WEIGHT OF THE BUMPERS AND ROOF RACK AS PERSONAL ITEMS. Come to find out, I could have taken my vehicle to a scale and got an empty weight, and the port would have honored that as the weight of the vehicle, not the stock weight. None of this was ever mentioned. Furthermore, instead of just charging me for the difference of 881 lbs for my 450lb I had already paid for, they tacked on an additional 600$. They refuse to use the weight from my vehicle's VIN and won't release my car until I pay an extra $200 because they are using incorrect information. It's no longer a drivable vehicle with fluids leaking from mechanical damage from the frame being bent. It appears they dropped something very heavy on it. I decided to ship my car and made the reservation online before speaking to anybody. Then I realized that I had no idea where to drop off, pick up, or what time. I waited on hold for a few minutes, and was told to go online to chat with an agent. I assumed there would be a chat bot, but it appeared to be disabled. So I continued to wait on hold, a little disappointed. When Ashley got to me, she gave me all the information I needed and sent me emails with the info so I wouldn't forget it. I mentioned to her that the chat was not working on their website and she thanked me for letting her know, and that she would mention it to someone who could fix that. She then gave me her email so I could contact her directly in the event that I had anymore questions. When I arrived at the port dock, I realized I had misplaced my Booking Number and I emailed Ashley in a panic. Within minutes she emailed be back and called me to help me. So the website is Meh, but the customer service is outstanding. I was extremely disappointed with my vehicle movement by Alaska Car Transport. My vehicle expeditiously moved from Alaska to Washington as discussed with the consultant I worked with. It then sat at the port for 14 days before it was picked up for truck movement to my final destination. On the Alaska Car Transport website, the average time of movement from my departure location to my final destination, is 13 days. My vehicle sat at the port for more time than the total average shipment time. When I decided to use Alaska Car Transport my consultant informed me delivery times are estimates. Because of that, we agreed to drop off my vehicle earlier than planned to ensure it was delivered by the date I required it. As mentioned, the vehicle sat for 14 days with no update from the company or the transportation provider. This caused me to have to change work / personal plans to accommodate the late delivery of my vehicle. Alaska Car Transport's cost to move my vehicle was high, but the counselor was confident my vehicle arrival timeline would meet my needs. Had I known how slow the movement and delivery would be, I would have used another company. The service was most certainly not worth the cost. I do not recommend using this company. read more

I'm currently waiting on my vehicle to arrive, they will never answer the phone or respond to emails, very unprofessional in my opinion, I contacted an agent name Josina and she was very unprofessional and actually hung up in the middle of my inquiry and didn't return any of my calls. I wasn't notified that my vehicle was idle at the Tacoma Washington port and charges had accumulated for daily storage fees, I actually had to contact the port of Seattle Tacoma (Matson cargo ship carrier) to get and update that my vehicle was still in a container. The communication is extremely poor, AK CAR TRANSPORT will only contact you if you are asking for a quote, after payment is made they are literally non existent.
