I scheduled a vehicle shipment from AK to FL, a month prior to me flying to FL. I shipped the vehicle so I would not have to rent vehicle every month. I paid the $4400 up-front, thinking they had a plan to transport the vehicle from Tacoma to FL. The vehicle has been sitting in TACOMA for 2 weeks, per the person on the phone, who is extremely unprofessional, no one has accepted the contract to transport the vehicle. Per the contract, dates are only an estimate and they do not compensate for lateness. Now I have to reserve a rental vehicle. Paying the entire bill up front is not safe with this company. read more

I learned the hard way the very hard way, these guys are the ONLY company you should use. I shipped my daughter's car to Tacoma for College on Wrightway. We flew down to Tacoma were almost to the port her phone rings and they tell us our car wont be there for two more days!! Next, I shipped my car to Tacoma a year later, I used Alaska Car Transport, understand a few key facts, they are based in New York, they have NO presence in Alaska or Washington none, no office no employees no one. They sent me forms to sign which they kept getting errors on their end. Then I paid, then...that was it, I mean they literally went dark. I did everything from there, I drove my car to the port, I signed all the paperworks, I had it inspected. They didn't even tell me how or where to pick it up!! But wait it gets better, I kept waiting to hear when my vehicle would arrive, and finally, at 9 am Ak time im told it will be ready at 1, they close at three. I fly down, Lyft to the port and...Matson tells me no one has paid! I get ahold of "New York" car transport and they, I don't know what they did? Didnt pay? or file paperwork or what. So, I had to pay again just so I could get my car! I did Get a refund but they actually charged me a cancellation fee!! Which brings me too Alaska Auto transport, OMG what a difference!! First of all unlike the other guys, you dont have to go to the port of Tacoma, you drop or pick up your car in Kent, literally right down the hill from Sea-Tac, what a huge, difference. You deal directly with the office and employees of Ak Auto Transport who do this full time, not Matson not Tote who are large shipping companies and your a small fish. In Anchorage their office is on Gambell, and you drop off and pickup there. It went flawless on both ends, to be able to drop your car off and take a quick taxi to the airport instead of being all the way in the port is so nice. This experience was wonderful, a strange word for auto transport. Everything went perfect. Drop off was helpful as I was on my way to the airport out of Anchorage. It took only about 20 minutes and I was on my way. The barge trip was as long a they said. My car arrived on time and was in perfect condition. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I shipped another car a few years ago out of Anchorage with another shipper whose name starts with a W. It was terrible so I know how bad it could be. I read complaints about it taking a long time with this company. The weekly deadline is maybe Monday for the vehicle to be taken to the port. I took my car on a Tuesday as that was when my flight was. Therefore, they actually kept my vehicle for about a week until the next barge left which added an extra week and took about 19 days total, which seems like a lot, but AAT was really doing me a favor by accepting my vehicle on the day of my flight. I can't say enough about my experience with Alaska Auto Transport. I drove my car to Kent Washington for the shipment of my Toyota Tacoma to Fairbanks Alaska. A great company to work with and a nice alternative to overpaying for a vehicle in Alaska (even with transportation costs, I saved $500 buying out-of-state, because the Alaska car market is insane). I appreciated that Alaska Auto Transport did a scrupulous inspection upon receiving the vehicle, which helped catch damages caused by another auto transport company. The staff is friendly and helpful, and always answered the phone. They were accurate about arrival estimates and got my vehicle from Kent, WA, to Fairbanks, AK, within the promised window. I just wish they offered additional payment methods to help customers save on credit card fees (i.e., Zelle or direct debit) - I ended up doing a wire transfer to save on the $100 Clover fee. Closed container shipment would also be nice and something I would have paid extra for considering Alaska DOT distributes sand/rock on winter roads. I had a good experience with Alaska Auto Transport last month. I dropped my new compact at their Kent office on November 13 and picked it up in Anchorage on November 26. It traveled inside a container on a barge with nary a scratch and less than a mile on the odometer. For $1,265, this was a much better choice for me than days of driving it through the Yukon in November. I would gladly use them again. Only minor gripe is the shoddy building they use in Anchorage, but that doesn't matter much when the service is this good. read more

We relocated from Anchorage, Alaska this summer and had the opportunity to ship my wife's car with another company. My car we shipped with Alaska Auto Transport. The two experiences could not be more different. Estimated arrival dates, the process of dropping off the vehicle, and overall customer service was non-existent with the "other" company. Alaska Auto Transport was thorough, courteous and extremely helpful during the entire experience. The Anchorage office was fantastic, explained the entire process to us over the phone prior to drop off. When dropping off, we were helped immediately and given full attention until our transaction was complete. We were also given full disclosure on the estimated shipping dates, both of departure and arrival in Renton. We actually were notified that my vehicle was shipped earlier than scheduled, and was available in less than a week. Because the original estimate was later, they offered to store my vehicle at no charge if that was necessary. This morning when I picked up my vehicle Mark was just as courteous and attentive to my needs as the Anchorage staff. Alaska Auto Transport moved 2 vehicles for me, from the Midwest to Anchorage, Alaska. Both vehicles arrived on time (early, actually), and the people I spoke with on the phone were there at the other end with my cars. The cars got extremely dirty on the trip, but once I got them cleaned up, they were just fine. I think service is a hit or miss with this company. They get the job done, but not without hitting a few bumps in the figurative road. My car was to be picked up at my family member's home, and my relative took off early from work for the pick-up. The driver never showed, and was very rude to her on the phone when she contacted him. So, she called the company, and they said he got stuck somewhere. That's perfectly fine, but we weren't all that sure why the driver wouldn't have given her a call to say so or told her such on the phone when she called him. Fast forward a few weeks later, and my car finally made it to Anchorage. Its ending destination is Fairbanks. My car arrived on a Thursday, and when I called I was told they probably couldn't get it to me that weekend because of the holiday, but it would probably be there Monday. Come Monday, I gave them a call, and I was told it would be here "sometime this week". My car sat in Anchorage for a week. Presently, I'm waiting for the call that it's available for pick-up. It's now an hour past the ETA I was given, and I need to go to work soon. I personally feel that the drivers should be held a little more accountable for communicating with clients in a friendly, direct manner, and to take into consideration that we all have individual schedules we adhere to. I am a very patient person, and I understand that timing is not perfect, we all have delays, etc. However, I took a couple stars off of this review because the seeming lack of communication between parties in this company was personally frustrating, and I wasn't fond of the non-committal time frames I was given. Also, I told them from the time I scheduled the shipment that my car was coming to Fairbanks. When it got closer to Anchorage, I was informed by an employee that they had written it in as going to Anchorage, and would need to raise the amount I paid for shipment. It gave the impression that they are slightly disorganized, and the other factors I've described contributed to this impression. Overall, if they were to provide the best quote again in the future, I'd use them again. I would appreciate if they tried to be a little more organized in the future, but this company isn't bad for shipping vehicles. read more

I recently bought a Jeep all the way in Phoenix Arizona because I received an excellent deal and the seller's son had already used Alaska Auto Transport to ship his vehicle over seas so I decided what the neck, let me give them a shot. I set up the arrangement over the phone and it was quite simple, they asked for the pick up and the delivery locations, as well as contact info and of course payment. They did not charge a deposit, until my vehicle was picked up and once that happened I paid $900 deposit, which is fair considering my total price. All in all the shipment was great!
