We flew down to Tacoma were almost to the port her phone rings and they tell us our car wont be there for two more days!! Next, I shipped my car to Tacoma a year later, I used Alaska Car Transport, understand a few key facts, they are based in New York, they have NO presence in Alaska or Washington none, no office no employees no one. They sent me forms to sign which they kept getting errors on their end. Then I paid, then...that was it, I mean they literally went dark. I did everything from there, I drove my car to the port, I signed all the paperworks, I had it inspected. They didn't even tell me how or where to pick it up!! But wait it gets better, I kept waiting to hear when my vehicle would arrive, and finally, at 9 am Ak time im told it will be ready at 1, they close at three. I fly down, Lyft to the port and...Matson tells me no one has paid! I get ahold of "New York" car transport and they, I don't know what they did? Didnt pay? or file paperwork or what. So, I had to pay again just so I could get my car! I did Get a refund but they actually charged me a cancellation fee!! Which brings me too Alaska Auto transport, OMG what a difference!! First of all unlike the other guys, you dont have to go to the port of Tacoma, you drop or pick up your car in Kent, literally right down the hill from Sea-Tac, what a huge, difference. You deal directly with the office and employees of Ak Auto Transport who do this full time, not Matson not Tote who are large shipping companies and your a small fish. In Anchorage their office is on Gambell, and you drop off and pickup there. It went flawless on both ends, to be able to drop your car off and take a quick taxi to the airport instead of being all the way in the port is so nice. I will never not use them again if the need arises and neither should you.

Some moving companies are unprofessional and hold you hostage with hidden fees. Mike was the opposite and his invoice was transparent and detailed. Last week, the girl on the phone said it may be a day later, they won't know until they book a carrier. I said one day later was ok. Today, 6/1, it was getting near close of business, so I called to see if they can tell me when they are picking up since we are moving household goods, picking up an RV to drive to Alaska (with reservations along the drive), getting pets health certificates, etc. A lot of moving pieces to coordinate, to include vacating our house we sold. The girl on the phone just kept repeating the same two generic sentences, "all dates are estimates," and "we will notify you of the date once a carrier is booked," "all dates are estimates," over and over like a robot. No matter what I said, she just kept repeating the same two sentences. Absolutely devoid of any professionalism or politeness. I told her twice to stop repeating herself, I heard what she said. I am asking if she can tell me how long we are expected to just wait and see? I asked how is this a business when people cannot plan around an undetermined timeline? She just kept repeating the two sentences. I asked to speak to a manager, and she said the manager was out of the office today. I said "of course they are." I was upset and asked again, how long am I expected to wait before finding out when our vehicles will be picked up? And this time she cut me off and said she was going to terminate the call, so I hung up. The ONLY way to contact them is via the Alaska phone number. No email, no customer contact form, no chat. You are on hold a long time before someone picks up. It may have been the same person each time, but the first person was much nicer and actually responded to my questions, rather than just repeat the same two sentences like a robot. Just because the website says the dates are "estimates," it is NOT an industry standard to give ZERO timeline to customers! Is it a day, a week, a month... what? I called another place to try to book something, and they immediately gave "1-5 days after the first available date" as a window. Alaska Car Transport can't even do that. But, now it is too late to switch companies because the first available date is 6/4. We cannot sit here and wait 9 days to leave. $7635 for substandard service. This doesn't include the money we are loosing for every day we have the rental car and didn't need it, or the fee for changing 9-days of reservations. It would be nice to have a company act like they understand they are crucially impacting people's lives.

Upon picking up my SUV, I had 16 lbs and they left a butcher knife in the back. My guess it was what was used to cut open the boxes. I spoke with several people and felt that since the contract said that they are not responsible for contents; I was completely disregarded.
