We found it online and just went with it because the prices and availability were right. Turns out I think we stayed in one of the better hotels/inns/B&B's in Cooper Landing. The quality of service and the price are just impossible to beat. Our room was one the comfiest, cleanest, and homiest room that I've ever stayed in. They have a variety of room sizes available (2 twins, queen, king, cabin, etc). From what I saw each room has a bathroom with a stand up shower. The sinks are right outside of the bathrooms in the rooms. The rooms have fans and opening windows. They also have soaps, towels, tissues, and lotion in the room. Our room had a room on each side of it and a room under us and we never hardly heard other guests. It is really quiet and peaceful. You can clean towels daily when your room is cleaned if you want or you can keep using the same one. They also clean the sheets half way through the week. The continental breakfast was nice with a lot of options (bagels, english muffins, muffins, boiled eggs, oatmeals packets, yogurt, apples, bananas, oranges, fruit cups, toast, coffee, juices, cereal, etc.). They also have movies you can borrow in the lobby. In the common rooms (1 common room for each ~3 room) there is a couch, mini fridge, TV with dvd player, plasticware and paper towels, and coffee pot. We used this area and never had issues with other guests. Outside they have a covered grilling area with grilling tools, foils, basic seasonings, tables and chairs, paper towels, and a fire pit. They have a fire every night. We used the grilling area to grill up fish that we caught. We saw other guests using the area pretty frequently as well. George and Shirley are really nice and helpful. If you need anything ask them. If they have it they will help you out. I had a few special requests and they were more than happy to work with the requests. Other items available: pay washer and dryer, parking, outdoor seating on every floor, wireless internet (no movie streaming), ice, cold drinks for purchase, ground floor rooms that are somewhat handicap accessible, microwave in the office area. If I ever come to Cooper Landing again I will stay here again. I saw nothing else in town that beats what George and Shirley have set up. We also met numerous returning guests while we were staying here.

I enjoyed looking at the tall spruce trees outside the 2nd floor window. Mountains soar from the front and back yards. It's a beautiful location. My room was decorated with a picture of the Portland (Maine) Head light made from puzzle on wall. The building has a community lounge with TV & movies. No in-room television. It felt more like a motel than a Bed and Breakfast. Less personal, less intimate. Breakfast as in a Best Western - self-serve bowls of HB eggs, bagels & packets of cream cheese, small boxes of cereals, bowl of bananas, apples; etc - a few muffins. Nothing homemade. If I'm in the area again, I'd probably stay there again. It is was a good value for the price and especially for Alaska. $85. Visa & Master Card only. No American Express.

I always imagined B&B's to be kinda awkward and weird staying with strangers in a home. But all my assumptions were completely wrong. This place was amazing!! The home is sooo beautiful and spacious. They have 3 bedrooms downstairs with a large den area with a tv and lots of dvds. There is also a hot tub outside on the deck as well. A door is located downstairs so it makes it convenient for you to go in and out as you please. Each bedroom has a bathroom inside so you don't have to worry about sharing the bathroom with strangers. The rooms are very spacious and you really feel at home. They have complementary soaps, lotions, toothpaste and everything like a hotel. For breakfast, they print out a customized menu with your names on top. Such a nice touch! I loved it. Breakfast comes with coffee/tea and juices, fruit plate and a choice of a breakfast entree. They cook it as you order it. The owners were very friendly and made it a very comfortable stay. I would totally recommend this B&B to anymore. Differently a great experience!

This property…read morewas built specifically to function as a B&B, and it's clear that Michelle and Ron put a great deal of thought into building their home as a warm, inviting, and very functional space. We arrived a little late the first night, and were greeted by Michelle, who gave us a quick tour, taking us through the dining room on the main level, downstairs to the common sitting room from which the three guest rooms are accessed. As one example of a smart design, guests access the sitting room by way of a separate downstairs entrance, with plenty of spots for wet shoes and jackets in the entryway. (Shoes off while in the B&B!) We stayed in the Creekside Suite, which provided ample and comfortable space for us and our two adult children. Michelle made us feel welcome and right at home. As did the delicious cookies she left for us! The room was great. If we had to make any suggestion, it would be to provide some sort of movable privacy screen in the bathroom. Not needed for a couple, but would be helpful when traveling as a family. Breakfasts were fantastic, with a daily custom menu with many tempting alternatives from which to choose. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. Michelle and Ron are fabulous hosts. They are friendly and hospitable, great conversationalists, and helped us with great tips to enjoy our stay in the area. We didn't get to spend a lot of time with Bailey the dog (apparently, he's not allowed to join the guests for breakfast!), but he was out when we went up to say goodbye on our last day. He's a big, lovable teddy bear of a dog. Be careful once you start petting him--he may not let you stop! :) The Girdwood area is beautiful. We enjoyed some hiking (Winner's Creek and Virgin Creek Falls) while we were in the area, in between our other planned activities: a dog sled ride on Punchbowl Glacier, and the 26 Glacier boat tour out of Whittier. She has 2 facilities: The main house (the A-Framed one) and the "cottages" across the street. My niece and I stayed in the main while my sister and her hubby stayed in one of the cottages. The cottages boast a full kitchen, with fridge, stove, sinks, microwave and even a stacked washer & dryer. Also being separate from the main house, if you're having a long stay, this would be ideal as you won't disturb anyone with comings & goings. There appeared to be 3 of these cottages. In the main, there are 5 bedrooms, ALL with private bathrooms! :) Soo makes a terrific breakfast that's included... forget those scrawny little donuts or cold cereals you'll see at a hotel. She made us scrambled eggs, sausage, muffins, home-made blueberry compote and fresh squeezed orange juice! I'm tellin' ya... it's a great way to start the day! She also knows the local area & can tell you about discounts and things to see. When we arrived, she showed us the code to get in, the etiquette (removing shoes- great cleanliness idea in Alaska), and showed us around her beautiful home. Soo also used to live in Anchorage, where my sister still lives and I used to, and owned a sewing shop. When we arrived, and my sister made the connection, and I off-handed asked if she could re-attach the handles on my favorite tote. I didn't really expect a yes...but she said YES! The next morning at breakfast, there was my repaired tote on the chair in the dining room. She refused any compensation, but I will be forever grateful. Soo is kind, gracious and staying at her home is FABULOUS!

It is an excellent get away spot that is just right to relax and enjoy being in Alaska. The cabin is heated with a modern bathroom and partial kitchen. By partial kitchen I mean: refrigerator, microwave, sink and coffee maker. There is a gas grill on the front porch however. The cabin sleeps four with two in the master bed and two in the small single beds in the loft. There is also plenty of room for others to stretch out on the floor. The owner, Maggie, is very friendly and helpful. Hope, AK is small but is a very clean and nice historical town. Check out the Seaview Cafe for a great beer selection, delicious food and an amazing view. Definitely add the Black Bear B&B and Hope, AK as a side trip as you tour the Kenai Peninsula.

Its about 10 miles (~12 nautical miles) from Seward. All Alaska heritage tour boats seem to stop here. But after the guests leave, the island is ONLY for the folks who stay and some staff. There were about 4 cabins. If I added the restaurant and activities desk, there would probably be just around 6 cabins in the whole island. There's cool blue ocean right in front of you and a gorgeous lake behind the cabins...That's it! They warned us that because blueberries were ripening, there had been bear sightings on the island the previous day. The island was great for sea-shelling, I wasn't too good at it, but hey, with the whole island practically to yourself, you can always try ;) Food is catered by an executive chef on the premise. We had mentioned I was vegetarian, so they made sure there were options. For dinner, I had risotto and grilled zucchini with locally picked blueberry cobbler. YUMMM We had gone sea kayaking during the day - it was surreal. Just pristine waters and you in your kayak. In the evening we could see salmon spawn everywhere on the water. It was quite a spectacle. The lodge was indeed pricey, but totally worth EVERY penny.

My fiancé and I stayed here late June in 2020. Since the trains were not running currently, the lodge was even more secluded than usual. It usually has up to 16 guests, 8 cabins, on site and when we were here, we ended up only have 4 guests there. As soon as we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and the manager, Brandon, introduced himself and stated whatever we wanted or desired they would help achieve that or come close to it. He stated he or someone else would always be available for questions or concerns, and he did not disappoint. The cabins were beautiful and cozy. There are no outlets in the room which we did not mind as the main area has plenty available. I was able to charge my camera batteries without an issue as well. Wi-Fi worked great in this area but not in the cabins, so needing to charge your phone while in the cabin was not necessary. We stayed at the puffin cabin which had a great view of the bay and the lake just behind the cabin where we spotted river otters and baby ducks. The chef was from Vero Beach, FL which is close to my hometown. His cooking was phenomenal and kept you excited for the next meal. This is top dollar dining at its finest, no meal tasted the same and the meals were well executed. I am a self-proclaimed "foodie" and would not be this kind if not so deserved. Brandon told us about a hike, a bit on the challenging side, was available for us and explained how to get there and where to get some great views/pictures. This hike was not even recorded on my hiking app, All Trails, so I added it for others to use as a guide. Fox Island flora and landscape is like nothing I have ever seen, its damp and brittle which can make or break this hike from moderate to challenging, especially with the steep incline. On our second day there we were unable to do kayaking secondary to the tour personal being exposed to COVID, so precautionary measures were taken. Although at first this really bummed us out, we asked if they had any fishing rods which we could use to try to catch fish. Luckily, Brandon was on it, and an employee had a couple rods and lures for us to use. The chef brought us out to the "spot" on the end of the bay where the employee stated he would catch rock fish, and boy did we! (and when I say we I mean my fiancé, all I caught was seaweed and kelp, whoomph). The chef cooked the rock fish for dinner and it beyond delicious, reminded me of grouper and kind of looked like it too! We also got a show when the chef put the rock fish scraps back into the ocean and watch 2 bald eagles fight for the winnings--just WOW!! Brandon also told us if we were feeling up to it, we could jump off the dock into the frigid Alaskan waters, and you do not have to dare me to adventure. It was a beautifully warm day, and although my limbs went numb as soon as I hit the water, as soon as you get out you are instantly warm--so STRANGE for this Florida native. Every night they offered a beach fire with smores which we gladly accepted. The staff was cautious wearing masks when around guests and I never once felt unsafe. The day out you enjoy a 5-hour boat ride to explore the Fjords and see wildlife, we saw humpback whales, plenty of seals, puffins, an enormous number of seabirds, and the Aialik Glacier. The captain of the tour boat was incredibly knowledgeable about the Fjords and the boat was big enough with a catamaran style hull that allowed its massive boat to take on waves, so that I never once felt seasick. The beauty of Fox Island, the delicious food, and the attentive staff with opportunities for adventure, and the enjoyable Fjords boat tour allow me to absolutely recommend this lodge. The price is beyond worth every penny. I would ask that the lodge acquire more fishing equipment because this activity became a highlight for us both and think future guests would appreciate it as well. Stephen and I thank the staff for everything they did for us while we there and making the last bit of our Alaska trip incredibly memorable.

The food came and the sandwiches were very good . The only thing I did not like was the fries, they were too greasy like they were deep fried . Otherwise everything tasted good. Had a nice conversation with a young man who was clearing the plates . Still the view was pretty and there was a lower level to see the view alone

There is a shuttle service to take guests to and from the main lodge to their rooms. Even though it was the middle of summer, we wanted to be able to have a fire in the fireplace. There was plenty of cut wood for the stove and they even provided fire starter. There was a nice trail behind the main lodge building that goes down in a bit of a slope. Have no fear; they provide walking sticks you can borrow. There are two restaurants on site, and reservations are recommended. The gift shop in front of the lodge office has lots of souvenir items.
