We saw wild Dall sheep and visited the Wildlife Conservation center. Along the ride, there was interesting and humorous stories about Alaska told by Ben. She was a wealth of knowledge and such a fun person to spend the day with. Everywhere we went, she seemed to know everything. She interspersed personal anecdotes allowing us to get to know her better and to understand more about the area. Everything was included in the price of the tour. Lunch (of your choice - not just preset options), a beer at the brewery, and admission to the nature center were all taken care of. There were also snacks and water available in the van. We got lucky with a small group (4 people including us!), but the van only holds 13 people - much better than the giant coach busses! He provided great stories about local history and culture. As part of the package, we got to stop by the Alaska wildlife conservation center. This actually became the highlight of our trip and exceeded our expectations. It's always great when unexpected surprises turn out to be the best part of a tour. Only wished we could have had more time to visit and learn more. Overall the tour was well worth the money and that the small group size provided a personalized touch. Very memorable and enjoyable experience.

Booked the glacier full day trekking tour and had Billy as my guide and couldn't have had a better…read moreexperience! Everything about dealing with this company was a breeze! I booked the day before, the morning of the owner texted me to confirm that I would be picked up at my Airbnb, Billy texted me notifying me when he was on his way. He was kind, responsive, full of information, considerate, and willing to tailor the speed and details to the needs of the group. He truly made this trip enjoyable. Van ride to the glacier is about 100 miles, we stopped at a gas station about half way. We stopped twice for two photo opportunities, and then made our way to the glacier gift shop to sign waivers. Then drove down to the launch point of the trek. There are ample bathrooms down there. Billy did not accompany us on the glacier but that was okay, our guide at the glacier was super sweet and knowledgeable. I felt more than safe! You walk across a floating bridge to get your microspikes and then we spent about 2-2.5 hours trekking the glacier. You do spend most of the hike on the rocky surface, but we did a pretty steep climb on the blue ice to get to the top of our area, we drank glacier water (amazing) and then saw the base of the glacier which was stunning. Post trek we returned to the tent and met up with Billy, he had snacks waiting for us and then drove us up to the lodge for lunch. After lunch we made the drive back, and again Billy was willing to accommodate different drop off points.

We had such a WONDERFUL day dog sledding with our guide Lori…read more Our day started with getting picked up at our hotel in downtown Anchorage. Hotel pickup was super helpful since we didn't rent a vehicle. Lori made a bathroom/coffee stop 45 minutes into the drive. We stopped at a local coffee shop which was so thoughtful instead of stopping at your typical gas station. Afterwards we arrived at our destination for the dog sled tour. We went during the winter and it gets very cold when you are moving on the sled! We are from Arizona so we didn't have snow boots or other items on hand. Luckily snow shoes, heavy gloves, beanies, etc were provided for us to change into so that we stayed nice and warm on the sled. We were paired up and got the chance to sit down and ride in the front of the sled which was perfect for taking videos and pictures. And the other person had the chance to stand up at the back of the sled. We warmed up with a delicious lunch at a nearby lodge and made our way back to Anchorage. Overall, we had such a great day thanks to Lori and the dog mushers. It was truly a one of a kind experience! Highly recommend 907 Tours.

I have just been through the Alaska Airlines holiday gladiator gamut. I was scheduled to fly from…read moreTampa to Anchorage on the 29th, through Seattle. Here are some numbers of what actually happened: 7: number of flights that were cancelled 4: number of flights it took to get back to Anchorage 4th: date I actually got home 2: number of nights I stayed in Juneau 2: number of nights I was without my luggage, once I finally got back into town I got the bags back last night. Alaska Airlines is using BAC to deliver them. (no idea if this is typical, I've never had this done before) All I've really known of BAC before this is that they are slickly dressed in black, and hold signs for people they are waiting for at the airport. I have most commonly seen them unloading luggage out of vans at the more expensive hotels in Anchorage. Your initial question might be: "Andrew, why didn't you just go to the airport and pickup your bags?". Good question, a couple reasons: 1) The airport is an absolutely war-torn jungle right now. The last thing I want to do is go wait in another 45 minute line...or more...and then have to pay for airport parking because Alaska misplaced my bags. 2) After 50 hrs of travel in 4 cities, I had a splitting headache...similar to the one I had when I got my vaccine booster. So I was not going to unnecessarily expose anyone while waiting for results. (Andrew from the future here, it was negative, whew!) Alaska told me my bags would be delivered on the 5th...and they weren't. I called again on the 6th...and they said they were there with a note saying I was going to pick them up? They re-asked for my info, like they did on the 5th, and said they would be delivered at 4pm. 4pm came and went, no bags. At 6:30pm, I got my COVID results back, negative! I went to go get Pho to celebrate. Still no bags. I thought I was probably going to have to nag Alaska Airlines again. (this time I would just go get them myself) As I was leaving the Pho place (Phonatik, my favorite), I saw 3 missed calls. (my phone is on silent when I'm dining with my partner, I'm not an animal!) 2 from BAC, and 1 from my neighbor. No text messages from BAC, but there was one from my neighbor. They were going to leave my bags in the snow in front of my house because they didn't want to go up the stairs. So my neighbor offered to take the bags in for them. *deep breath* Few things about this: 1) Why could a professional company like BAC, that slings bags for retirees all summer long at The Captain Cook not go up the same stairs I, FedEx, UPS, USPS, and Door Dash drivers go up daily/weekly? No idea. (Why this matters: the bags are out of view from the street when they are up the stairs in front of my door, they are VERY VISIBLE from the street where they planned to leave them) 2) They didn't know I have an amazing relationship with my neighbor...but they just dropped them off with him anyway? Not impressed BAC. Learn how to walk up some stairs. It's the least you can do when you are 3 hours (or 2 days) late for a delivery. Also, try texting as well as calling.

The best way to travel from Anchorage to Denali…read more Check-in and boarding is pretty straight forward and efficient. We were there off-season, so we got to exclusively enjoy the dining car ... Which, in my opinion, has better views than the observation car. They had a bar with decent options, and the prices were reasonable. Overall, it was a good time, and I highly recommend taking the train if you're going to Denali or Fairbanks.

Unfortunately, they don't extend that discount to 100% disabled veterans. When we arrived, we were unexpectedly charged an additional $50. The depot was overcrowded with far too few seats, and passengers were expected to tag their own luggage outside before boarding. For the price they charge, the experience felt disorganized and underwhelming. Paying $240 for two one-way tickets was already excessive, especially after learning from our Uber driver that the same trip would have cost about $150. To top it off, the staff was neither understanding nor accommodating. We won't be using Alaska Railroad again, and I can't recommend it to others.

Kim picked us up late in Seward, she was to be there at 11 am and it was 11:20 when I phoned and left a message with Renee, and then Kim appeared. The van was very dirty, I mean it was not good. From there we went and she got gas and her rockstar and 5 hour energy drinks. We thought at first she was just a bad driver, so we are like ok. Swerving a little here and there off the side of road several times. Hitting the rumble strips. But then she swerved onto oncoming traffic, the van crossed the center line of the 4 lane road going down a mountain and half the van was in the lane of oncoming cars, a big truck to be more precise. When we heard the rumble strips we all screamed and she woke up cause she had fallen asleep. She had DOZED off several times. We asked her if she was ok to pull over, no I am fine I am just a little nauseous. She continued to almost rear end several vehicles and was constantly scratching her legs and pinching herself to keep herself awake. We asked to get a picture when we got in the vehicle of the Kenai Fjords National Park sign, well she passed that up. So she stopped at another sign, so thank god, really thank god, because I honestly thought we were going to DIE this Saturday in this horrendous vehicle with this woman. We pulled over to get a picture. I did ask strangers for a ride because I was terrified to get back in this vehicle. At that point I refused to get back in that vehicle with her. She told us if we got back in she would give us back a $100, I told her no way. My husband drove us the rest of the way. I really felt she was going to kill us or severely injure us. That van could not have withstood a crash at 70 MPH. It was absolutely awful. I wish I wouldn't have paid her at the beginning because I wouldn't have paid her. I can't believe the boss lets her drive clients. I am a travel agent so I will make sure to leave my reviews. I am thanking god my family is here today. It was to say the least a traumatic event. I Have taken hundreds if not thousands of taxis I have never had this life threatening experience before! Please Please take the coach bus from Seward to Whittier, do not use this company!

We took Airlink tour to the Artic Circle because by wouldn't you…read more We met our driver at noon and had a quick stop for snacks/lunch pick up. We then headed out of town! First stop was a piece of the Alaska Pipeline. Next stop was the Dalton Highway sign. Then the Yukon River. Then Finger Mountain. And finally the Arctic Circle. Our tour guide/driver Glenda was incredible. She answered all of our questions, I felt very safe on a sketchy road- it's a sketchy road for sure. She is very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour. Things to know before you go: 1) the road is sketchy- it's gravel and very rough. If you get motion sickness- be prepared because it's pretty bad 2) it's a LONG day- literally 14 hours mostly in the van. We had plenty of stops for bathroom breaks etc. but it's a long day. 3) you are literally going to see a sign and to say you have done it- now it's cool for sure- but make sure it is worth it to you. It's interesting geography- lots of tundra and hills. You aren't going to see majestic mountains - but it is a remote wilderness. I would not drive that road on my own- unless it was summer and I had AWD vehicle. But a lot of rental car companies won't let you go on the road. But I wouldn't drive it on my own.

They, in fact, once held the shuttle contract for driving people to-and-from Chena Hot Springs Resort. Once Chena began their own shuttle service, Airlink wisely priced themselves lower and undercut Chena's own back and forth to Fairbanks ride! Smart business move! But the tours to the Arctic Circle and Aurora Northern Light treks are the meat-and-bones of the company; also popular are the Fairbanks City Tours and if you have kids--Santa Claus House in North Pole. These guys do it all here. They will shuttle you to just about anywhere you want to go around town and right up to the Pipeline at the top of the state, if need be. My shuttle driver, Daniel, was fabulous. He's a local and knows his way around. He was flexible with me and went through the Taco Bell drive-thru and waited for me while I ran into Safeway for a quickie Starbucks fix. Truly grateful for that! I can recommend Airlink as a great transportation company with my 5 YELP STARS.
