Good thing i wasn't really in need of anything.... Went in early this morning with severe chest pains. Bad enough to want to go in. EKG was done, nurse said she wasn't allowed to say anything about it. Sent me To a room in the er.... Literally hours go by. Pain goes away on its own.(5 am at this point) no doctor no nurse not one person stops in to even speak. I hear em all in the hall, talking about some drunk person and "f this and f that". I walk out and say I've been here almost 3 hours and not once did anyone check in. I want to leave. Guy at the desk seemed surprised I was even there. I wasn't too busy so there shouldn't have been any delays especially with someone complaining about chest pains. Discharge papers were given with no explanation of anything. Makes Me wonder if I did have a heart attack and died.... How long would they have left my cold corpse until it was discovered? And the billing department.... Don't get me started On how pathetic and dishonest and disrespectful they are when you prove you are right when they try to double charge you for a consultation with your primary care physician. Just awful. Need med refills? 24 hours not enough notice? How about waiting over 4 days for a refill. Just awful. If this is how they treat people who need them, I'd rather go with an African witch doctor. read more

I can't say that this is the worst hospital I have ever been in because that wouldn't be fair... I am rarely in the hospital (thankfully!). But, the need arose to come here recently and it was only then that I realized how much I hate hospitals. Whether it was the three different waiting rooms/areas that I had to sit in, or the tired walls and depressing faces all around, it just wasn't a very comfortable experience. Some of the staff were were friendly and I appreciated that, but one or two barely introduced themselves before they shoved waiver forms in my face. It is an old hospital and can be seen by the narrow doorways that barely have clearance room for the gurneys. However, on the plus side, parking was pretty easy. Oh, and apparently they don't serve Jello in the cafeteria. As someone who loves Jello, I asked. My hospital Jello bucket-list item will need to wait a while longer. read more

At first everyone was very nice, then after 5 1/2 hours of waiting in the ER things started to change. We asked why we were waiting so long, I mean really, in the ER somehow it's the norm to wait at least 4 hours..but we patiently waited 5 1/2. The nurse didn't come to check on my mother to make sure she was comfortable or warm. She gave her an antibiotic without food. Did I mention that my mother is 90 y/o? The doctor finally came in and told us all is well...great news but while she was chatting it up with her friends, we waited and waited and waited some more...I dont care if you graduated from Harvard doc, you don't deserve my respect nor does the nurse who couldn't lift a finger to help my mother. read more

I cannot aay enough good things about the doctors and nurses here. My mother has been admitted at least three times. It is such a blessing when she is here, as opposed to the (medieval anonymous large hospital that shall go unnamed). I live 3,000 miles away but am able to get great information about her condition from any of the nurses and her doctor this time, Dr. Khan, called me twice out there. I flew out this time and was able to talk to Dr. Khan on his second visit to her room (not just one visit at the crack of dawn(, and I even asked him a supplemental question at his desk and he showed me her x rays and other labs. Everyone here is a sweetheart and poised to help you. This is unheard of at large medieval hospital. They thought I was crazy to want to speak to the doctor there. That's like getting an audience with the Pope, or Madonna. read more

A perfect, professional experience. Our son, a student at St Rose, developed an extreme allergic reaction to poison ivy. He walked into emergency room, eyes almost swollen shut, and sores all over his body. He was brought back into examining room almost immediately and seen by a doctor within 10 minutes. The doctors care was professional and sincere, giving my son the right amount and understandable information on the situation - and how to care for it - and how to avoid it. He was given a steroid shot and prescription and sent home all within 30 minutes, immediately feeling relief. Well done Albany Memorial. Our son will be moving to the area permanently - good to know a great hospital is in the area! read more

I went to urgent care twice (in Vermont) with an unknown illness. After consultation with my primary doctor back home (over 1,000 miles away), they told me to go to the emergency room because of how serious my symptoms were and urgent care refused to do anything. I go, get checked in, and eventually I'm called to a triage room. They decide that they run labs that were already done at my second urgent care visit before coming to the ER. The nurses were very dismissive and annoyed when i responded their questions of "why are you here today?" After telling them how serious my symptoms were, what my primary doctor said, and then lab results from urgent care. Their response was "and how does that make this an emergency." In my head, i thought, "ummm because i can die from that if they're not treated because it's been a month I've been like this and an increasingly getting worse..." Then I was directed to chairs in an interior hallway next to the nursing station. Awhile goes by, then I hear a nurse asking another nurse where I am and they lost me... in their own hospital. After they found me, I was assigned to a bed. They came in with lab results. They proceeded to make fun of me, dismiss my visit to the ER, and basically told me I'm behind dramatic. They told me to go, and no one even showed me how to leave. So I was wandering around not knowing where I was. There was one Irish or Scottish nurse who was very nice and compassionate to me and low key fought the doctors for a test that led to finding out what it was. So thank you! They also sent my prescription over 24 hours later and was unable to pick it up until I absolutely needed it and had to miss a class.... turns out we had a surprise test and because of my absence, I failed the class. So thank you Albany Memorial for one of the worst experiences of customer service my life. And to it's pretentious doctors: just because you put yourself thousands of dollars in debt and make nurses do everything doesn't make you better than anyone else. You're just rude. I went for a covid test b4 surgery @ another hospital. There were a lot of cars and the line moved slow but was very efficient

I was an employee there for 3 months. The manager was on vacation 5 x. I honestly worked my butt off. 12- hr shifts, every weekend, no breaks, no tech support and no administrative support. 30 yrs of ER/ICU nursing and never experienced the lack of compensation, caring, and concern for patients. The Nurse manager was well aware of the nonsense but chose a blind eye. The "click" staff only liked her cuz she gave them whatever time thhe wanted off. The rest of us got screwed. I worked every weekend for 9 straight weeks. Of course, after she posted the schedule, she went on yet another 2-week vacation. The way the nurses spoke to each other and to patients was appalling, almost outright abusive. Glad to be as far away from this facility as possible. My heart bleeds for the patients who are cared for there. read more

I went to Albany Memorial Hospital via ambulance. I was immediately taken to a room in the ER. Nursing staff was friendly and kind to me. The RN was particularly funny. He cracked me up! The doctor who saw me was competent and courteous. The pleasant staff lifted my mood. I was out of the ER within 20 minutes. Fantastic staff. Great experience. read more

One of the worst experiences I have ever had in an ER. No communication, waited HOURS! I had to ASK for a cold pack for my sprained ankles, as well as a warm blanket. Before anyone says anything btw they had 4 other patients there at the time. read more

This Hospital gets a zero... It is dirty, the discharge planner is an idiot. My husband was discharged from the hospital on Friday with an order for a wound vac which they removed prior to discharge. Then we were informed and guaranteed that it would be delivered by Tuesday. Then speaking on the phone with the Eddy visiting nurse, she informed us that we would not get it until Wednesday or Thursday. Now I ask what is wrong with this picture? When asked who dropped the ball she was astonished that we were upset when she informed us it was just ordered on Monday. I can order anything on the internet and have it delivered within 24 hours from California. But I can't receive a medically necessary equipment the next county over for a week. Somebody should answer for the lack of forsite and discharge planning, but apparently the medical profession is allowed to be complacent and indifferent with care. The other issue I have is with the wound specialist. Their RN nurse was addressing a wound and trying to speak fluent English, as she spoke I could see the mucous droplets from her mouth extending into the air and falling on a fresh surgical wound. I asked her to replace the instrument that she was measuring with because it was set on an unsterile field and the attitude and response I received was more than unprofessional. This hospital and Dr's office extremely dirty. There are dust balls on the sprinkler system in the wound care office. The last two days have been unbearable because my husband is so distressed.... I would never allow myself to be brought to this hospital. I hope I would die along the way. They only receive a one because there is no rating for zero. read more

The doctors here do not know how to deal with an anaphylaxis reactions. My sister has a severe allergy and they did not treat her in a timely manner and used outdated protocols that could eventually get someone with an allergy killed. Borderline negligence. read more

This was my 1st time as a patient at Albany Memorial Hospital for a surgical procedure. The professionalism and caring by everyone I met was outstanding. When I checked into the surgery reception desk, the staff member on-duty escorted me and my family to the surgical ward. In the surgery ward, the nurses, doctors, and entire staff were the most attentive staff I have ever met in a hospital. The staff were not only attentive, but treated me almost like family. It was a great experience for the 12+ hours I was at the hospital. One bonus is the free convenient parking at the facility and professional building. Albany Memorial Hospital is my hospital of choice. While I've been to 3-4 other Albany-Troy hospitals that also provided great service and expertise, I found Albany Memorial a notch above all the others, which is why I rated this hospital with a 5 Star. read more

I have always driven past Albany Memorial Hospital to get to St. Peter's or AMC, although my wife had been using the imaging department and ER for her ailing 92 year old mother and had reported quick service, competent and available staff. Anyhow, the greatest pain in my life caused me to have my wife drive me to the closest hospital, Albany Memorial. Getting me out of pain quickly and running a battery of vital tests immediately is appreciated. I barely recall the ER staff but I know they were fast pros. I was then admitted for a weekend stay---uuugghh, or so I thought. For me and my family we have always had challenges finding staff while in a hospital over a weekend. Not so at AMH. I received regular attention from the techs, was "nursed" by experienced wonderful RN's, specialists like GI docs Dr. James Puleo and partners, Surgeons like Dr. Brazes were available and visible all weekend. My mother was a nurse's nurse---taught in the profession and adhered to the highest standards. She would have been happy to see RN's Jesse and Beth Wood caring for me. My recovery continues with out patient visits ...including a round of tests this past Friday at AMH. That experience was ideal also. read more

I would give memorial hospital no stars if it were not for the nurses! The attending doctor never actually examined my husband who was there with a serious sudden balance issue. Dr Robinson should has his license revoked! The nurses were friendly and competent..thank goodness..they were the ones who figured out how to help the patient! First off Check with your insurance company before you have ANY procedure done here. They have codes that some insurances don't cover and this is not told to you before you have the procedure done. They also out source their billing and if you have to deal with these people....good luck. They are incompetent as is their billing system. I received great care at this facility but because of their coding and billing department I cannot go here anymore. read more

Please do not waste your time in this hospital, ESPECIALLY if your happen to have a worker's comp. injury! I have a debilitating injury and was left in the waiting room, in horrifying pain, until I stood up and made some real noise! I screamed that it was unethical to leave a patient waiting based on their insurance and whom ever is doing the triage is in need of further schooling! I made a complaint to the manager to no avail, given the assurance it would never happen again, I went with another flareup only to be questioned about my meds by the tech (MY MEDS!), P.S. I happen to be a RN. Too busy, as always, not enough qualified staff! read more

This hospital is terrible. I suffered from a breathing condition that was later fixed at a different hospital and i was driven to the emergency room by a family member, while i was trying to get out the car all while my breathing was barely there i looked and saw a nurse smoking a cigarette and she was watching my family member try and lift me out of the car and on to a wheel chair. the nurse did nothing to help. immediately after i got in the wheel chair i passed out. i then woke up to a doctor asking me all kinds of questions that we not even close to relevant and as my family member was trying to explain the situation the doctor ignored her and treated me like i was sub human. after that i was admitted into a room with two elderly women who clearly needed help and rang the call bell to which the nursing staff didnt help them. while i was there they left this elderly woman that was in the room with me in a chair for 24 hours straight without helping her to the bathroom, feeding her, or putting her into bed. and the staff was in there. the other woman in the room smelled something awful and was calling people to come get her because she was uncomfortable. my family went to the nursing center area and asked for help for them and they said she "was always like that and to just let it be".... never again will i walk in that place. unprofessional, dirty. read more

I just called the hospital to find the room number of a patient to send flowers. The first person I talked to didn't even say hi and just transferred me without even saying ANYTHING. The second person sighed in the phone when I asked for a room number and then transferred me to someone else, the third person tried to help but seemed new because he didn't have any answers and the last person was not nice at all and not helpful. Geez....when calling about someone who just had surgery you would think the staff would be a little more compassionate and helpful. If it was someone they cared about wouldn't they want someone on the phone to help them and not seem annoyed that somone is calling about a patient - this is the healthcare field is it not? I thought caring about people was the reason they are in this field - guess not at this hospital! If they treat someone calling like this how are they treating patients? Very dissappointed! read more
