The small class sizes transformed challenging upper division courses from weed outs into collaborative, professional experiences. I am especially grateful to Dr. T. Johnson, Dr. M. Sevigny, and Dr. J. McNally; their mentorship and the school's rigorous curriculum motivated me to realize my potential and steered me toward the biotechnology field. Shortly after graduating in Spring 2025, I accepted a full-time position as a Bioprocess Associate at BioMarin. I have no doubt that DU provided me with the technical foundation and communication skills essential for success in this industry. I look forward to building on this foundation as I pursue my Master's in Biotechnology at the University of San Francisco in the Fall 2026.

Choosing to attend DUC for undergrad was a great decision because it provided numerous resources to support student success, including tutoring services, a great library, office hours, small classroom sizes, and supportive professors and advisors. During my time at Dominican, I was on the Pre-Med track, which helped me complete all of my prerequisites for applying to graduate school. This school also offered multiple opportunities to enhance my resume, such as shadowing physicians at Kaiser Permanente, participating in scientific research, and engaging in volunteer work.

Skate Escape is located inside the mall, right next to a small video game arcade. I was informed by…read morestaff that a "skating with love" community event was happening. There was no charge to skate, though the skating pass price of $12 posted online is not bad, especially without the $3 skate rental cost (since I have my own rollerblades). This place is quite simple. A small shoe cubbies storage unit against the wall, a few seats and tables outside the rink, a restroom in the back, socks and snacks (water, chips, gatorade) sold behind the counter, and friendly staff making everyone feel welcome. The rink had a smooth and sturdy surface, creating an ideal skating experience. It was surrounded by plexiglass, able to withstand the barrage of kids crashing into the walls. Tiny disco balls hung from the ceiling, along with colorful decorative string lights. Mainly hip hop and rnb music played through the speakers, a song list including Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder, I Want To Be Your Man by Zapp, and Don't Stop Til You Get Enough by the king of pop. The skating rink was small but never felt crowded. There was plenty of space to glide freely, and it was easy to dodge the kids. Even the skate aids didn't take up a lot of space or get in the way. It was a pleasant experience, a carefree atmosphere with everyone just having a good time. Skate Escape was a great option for a rainy day activity to enjoy while in the area.

The staff is very very friendly and the space is huge! Very fun and unique place to throw a kids birthday party, which we did! The little room in the back where you throw parties was able to comfortably accommodate our party of 16 although most of the time the kids were busy skating in the main area. It was affordable to rent the room and they are lenient on the type of food you could bring in etc. place was high energy and the music selection is the bomb! We will be throwing many more parties in the future!

The Marin Mobile Drive-In is a regular event where some local counter-culture nerdy types drag out their personal favorites and share them with anyone within ear shot with an FM radio & eyeballs. Cupcakes, popcorn & sodas can be purchased "by donation" for a few bucks but other than that this event is 100% free. All you have to do is follow their website, meetup or facebook pages and show up on the correct night. There are more showings in the summer when the weather is nice but last year they had them periodically all year long.

Cappuccinos. The rest. Black is enough for me. Strong. Simple. It's quiet, but not empty. The hum of others working, softly talking, is a companion--not a distraction. There's a calendar of events: walks, talks, writing nights, yoga, new-member hours, dinners, creative meetups. You can move from work into laughter without leaving the space. The app echoes the calendar. It nudges you into things without pushing. It reminds you there is always a next thing to connect around. Here, you work alone--but not lonely. You sit in quiet--and step into company. You drink coffee--and sometimes wine. You write--and sometimes join a book club, a run, or a gathering of new faces. This is how work was meant to be: rooted, open, full of potential.

I finally realized that those things make a big difference in my energy, engagement and fulfilment in work & everyday life. This is no ordinary co-working space. People are friendly & welcoming: open for a casual chat during Community Lunch, willing to help you think through business or personal challenges, and a blast to hang out with at events both in and outside the club. It's great for work: noise levels are rarely distracting, there are phone booths and a conference room for private calls, a library quiet space, and a gorgeous outdoor patio to shake up the scenery. The socializing is great: book club, hiking club, AI learning sessions. Need a friend to go to a baseball game or music festival with? How about a potluck backyard party with twinkly lights and laughter? Done. When Jermaine, one of the founders, told me that their mission was "to end loneliness" (rather than something like creating just a place for work) it finally clicked for me why this place feels like home. The grounds were absolutely stunning and the flowers were in full bloom, and the combination of the lush outdoor ceremony space and the elegant indoor cocktail area made everything feel magical and perfectly balanced. One of our favorite touches was the grand piano, which a Paella Time (catering vendor) played during our first look, it was such a unique and emotional moment. The venue itself is a gorgeous, historic Victorian house with incredible charm. We took some of our favorite photos in front of the stained glass windows, which added so much character and warmth. My wife especially loved the bridal suite, where she shared sweet first-look moments and photos with her mom and bridesmaids. It felt intimate, relaxed, and timeless. As San Rafael locals, we were so impressed by how affordable the venue was for everything it offered. Working with Patty and the entire Falkirk team was effortless--they were kind, flexible, and truly accommodating every step of the way. We feel so lucky they had our date available. This venue will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
