I've been here twice now. First time for a haircut. I've been to maybe 3 different salons before this and they never got the cut I wanted right, no matter how many pictures I showed no matter how much I described. Albert though, was perfect. Very skilled and great at what he does. Second time I came was for a blow dry. A little rude in the beginning because I was late for my appointment-but it's not like I didn't call ahead of time so I didn't think that was necessary. But she apologized at the end for having a bad day and my blow dry looked fabulous so I was happy. It's a little pricey but worth it. DEFINITELY my go to spot. read more

i was going to albert since i was 11 with my mother it was a ok experience until i went blonde i was dark brown and the process was a 3 month process and it went smooth no damage all done correctly and i was blonde. i came in for a root touch up after my roots obviously growing out for the first time and it was orange. i left and had my roots orange just until my roots grew out again. i came back and i told them that it is orange so when they do my roots this time please fix it because there will obviously be a color banding. im pretty sure 30 vol was used on my roots and it did burn and i told him. his assistant who did my roots this time overlapped the fucking bleach which is so unprofessional and sloppy work. she didnt care and nor did he. i got it washed out and toned. after drying he asked if he could "cut some in the back because its tangled" i said ok and i felt the scissors near my neck. i got it styled and when i was paying and left he said "im going to order you some on the hairline extension its a new thing" i was confused and said ok..? hours after i got home i noticed terrible fucking damage at my roots half of my roots was completely fried off and he hair sprayed it down. along with the damage by my neck is the same deal nothing was "tangled." i was never told about ANY damage or ANYTHING they did to my hair. i trusted him for years upon years losing damn well 15k+ in total due to going to him. he also did lie about the free hair and ghosted me trying to cover up this shady unprofessional business. my hair is still not even to my shoulders where damage was due and this happened back in february. every extension i had fell out along with most of my hair due to damage it would come out in clumps just running my hands through it dry. and wet it fell out in the shower even trying to salvage my hair. this was a terrible experience and betrayal i dont wish this on anyone. do not go here for anything to do with bleach or extensions. very unprofessional and disgusting salon. read more

I'm actually being generous giving one star, but apparently a 0 star rating is not an option. I'm going to make this a detailed review so that Albert Meme and his team don't try to rebuttal with a lie. Cliffs notes: stay away from this unprofessional jerk. I'm writing this so no other bride has to feel the way Albert Meme made me feel. I had booked Albert Meme salon for my wedding day for a party of 8. One bride, 6 bridesmaids and my mom. I booked the date as well as my bridal trial one year prior to my July 28, 2018 wedding date. The receptionist I spoke with advised me to wait until closer to my wedding day to do the trial, and also to make a deposit after the trial to ensure I'm happy with the work. When it was time for my trial, my mom and I made our one hour commute over to his salon on Skokie, IL. Upon arrival, the other hair dressers advised me that Albert wasn't in and no longer worked on Sundays. They also stated there is no way he'd come in, he is apparently a socialite on Sunday afternoons. When I reminded them I made my appointment a year ago, they said he just changed his schedule. I asked why no one audited the planner to update future brides/customers and have us rescheduled in advance and they just looked at me dumbfounded with no response. I was taken aback that he hadn't showed up, and that it was so casual for him blow off a customer. We rescheduled my appointment and they stated my trial would now be done as a courtesy so I felt a bit relieved. The next time I came in, Albert was actually there. I waited for about 25m while he serviced other clients. One worker noticed I had been waiting and was aware of my previous experience so she decided to start the process of blow drying and curling my hair. Once she was done, Albert waved me over to his chair. No introduction, let alone an apology. I sat in his chair and he asked me which style I wanted. I showed him two styles and said I am debating on the two. He said they are too different to switch between the two and I had to select just one. I completely understood and asked him to try out the style I was most interested in. I sat in his chair for maybe 7-8 minutes before he told me to stand up and take pictures at his signage. I wasn't aware the trial had concluded until he waved over the next client to sit in his chair. He was already on to the next. He could see my confusion and that I was unhappy and he stated "it'll be cleaner on the day of the wedding." I was concerned as the work was not just sloppy, but there was no vision of the final result. It was nothing like the photo I had shown him. I was rushed and felt as though I was in his way as opposed to a valued customer. I was taken aback at how quick yet unsuccessful the appointment went. I left crying and uncertain what I was going to do. After I left, the receptionist called and told me I didn't leave the deposit. I informed her that I had forgotten since I was shaken and literally crying leaving the salon. I said I'd have to call in again to make the payment. The reception called me back within 2 minutes and stated that Albert had informed her he chose not to do business with me as he didn't feel he can make me "happy." One month before my wedding, and I was without a hair dresser. I cried even more at that point but was not shocked at their unprofessionalism after what I had already experienced. I informed my bridesmaids and one of them called the salon to determine whether Albert had just dropped the bride, or the entire bridal party. The receptionist stated that Albert decided to just cancel the whole bridal party since he had double booked for July 28, 2018. It then became clear why he was so rude, mean, careless, unprofessional, and standoffish. He had hoped I would cancel my appointment since he booked two weddings on the same day. My family and I had to scramble to find an available hair dresser for a bride one month before my wedding. It was so stressful and hectic. By the graces of God, I found someone who happened to be available for me. Karlen from Highland Park, was able to fit me and my bridesmaids into his schedule. He was kind, executed amazing work, and was way more affordable than Albert Meme salon! During my trial, I left Karlen's salon with tears of JOY and relief and I was excited to see the results on my big day as a bride all over again! This is exactly how brides should feel leaving their trial. Not disappointed, let down and confused. I'm beyond happy with the way things turned out, however if I can stop even one bride from leaving his salon crying, that's more than enough for me. Please stay away from this jerk. Highly recommend this salon. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by Jackie. I only waited a few minutes to have Albert come do my hair. I was having a lazy day and just wanted my hair up in a nice styled pony tail for a nice Saturday night. I loved loved my hair that he did. I showed him a picture of how I wanted it and he did it even nicer ! I never attach photos but my hair stayed in for two days and I was able to enjoy it. I received hundreds of compliments and was sad by Monday I had to wash it out. It was worth the trip I made from downtown! I can't wait to come back this weekend to Do my color! read more

DON'T EVER GO! They are total rip offs. My 15 yr old daughter called and asked how much for haircut. They said $45-50. That's how much money she had. When she went to pay, charged her $70! "She didn't ask for a blow dry and that's extra." Maybe tell someone on the phone, a blow dry is extra. No wonder she was able to get an appointment 15 min after calling. I have been going to Albert for at least two years. He is fabulous. I am biracial and so many stylists don't know how to handle my hair (it is curly/wavy). Anyway, Albert knows exactly how to cut my hair to lay just right. His prices are very reasonable too. Two things just FYI: 1) he is very flexible about walk ins/last minute appointments and 2) he cuts while someone else dries. Albert has given me an adorable short cut but when I had hair long enough to blow dry, the ladies always did an amazing job--very glam. read more

It's been a long time coming for me to write this review, but I LOVE this salon and Albert's cuts. He knows how to cut hair. I got a recommendation from one of my friends who comes here regularly and now I don't go anywhere else. Two things though you should know that I'm totally ok with-he takes like 10 mins to cut your hair but it turns out fabulous each time. The second, each time your hair is different than the last. I wanted a nice haircut for my daughter's baptism and I pretty much told him, I want lots of layers and I trust your judgement. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! He basically game me a 10 minute haircut and made me look like a 60 year old woman. At that time I was in my mid 20s. I was so disappointed and shocked that he treated my hair like a piece of trash. I waited and watched him give a client a nice haircut, but he purposely gave me the ugliest haircut I have ever seen. I support the Assyrian community, but this guy is selective with his clients. When I say selective, I mean it! He has the potential to make your hair look like art, but if he does not know you, forget about it-lol. For senior year homecoming I wanted to get my makeup done. Upon arrival, I waited 30 minutes due to a double booking. Once I sat down, already aggravated for her making me late, I showed Susu a pic of neutral pink makeup I wanted. She quickly brushed brown and gold eyeshadow on my lids, told me not to open them and started applying eyeliner super thickly on me. Before putting on mascara she placed falsies on me. I was in shock. I sat there trying to not cry the entire time. When I opened my eyes my eyelids were glued together. This woman then proceeded to put foundation on me, turning my natural tan ORANGE. It took her 25 minutes. It takes me an hour when I do my full face. I dropped 70$ on a lady who clearly had no idea what she was doing. As soon as I got in the car I broke down crying, went home and washed all my makeup off. This is the worst place I have ever been to. Super unprofessional, she sucks. read more

I moved away from my favorite hair stylist and this was the place I went to first. BIG mistake! I usually go with a short bob, but as soon as I walked in there 3 people came over to me and put on extensions, telling me its "more ladylike" Whatever that means! So after they put the extensions on they said to come back every morning for them to style it. It was ridiculous. So I told them I wanted short hair. The girl who shampooed my hair tossed it around like a ball. Albert looked at my hair and when I said I wanted it short, said, "How about long layers? ok, long layers." I just gave in, I thought maybe it would look good. Well, it didn't. The guy who colored my hair was a pain too. I said I don't like orange colored hair, so he gives me orange hair. It didn't even go all the way to the scalp, so it looked like I had to go back already. Albert cut my hair in literally 5 minutes. Ok, from start to finish, minus the whole extension ordeal, they spent about 25 minutes from shampoo to color to cut. Here is the thing... if I'm going to pay you $140 I expect the full attention of the stylist just like ay other salon that charges that much. I expect someone who takes the time for a consultation and gets to know you. I only get my hair cut occasionally and it was to cheer me up. I pretty much went home and cried. My fiance was upset so he went back to tell them and to get my money back. I hate places that don't do their job for everyone who walks in the door. One of the worse hair cuts ever. I went there because my friend refered me. The first time i went in for a dye job, it was amazing!! about a year later i decided i really liked the color and wanted them to dye it again. I brought in a picture with my amazing hair color, taken 2 days after they dyed it, and asked them to dye my hair that color again. Well they died it and not until the next morning in natural light did i realize it was FLAMMING RED, NOT mahongoney like i had asked, there was no brown in it at alL!! I called and said i was unhappy, and they told me to come in again & they'll fix it. So later that day i went in with the same picture and said "this is the color i wanted". as they were mixing the color, they kept asking me "is this dark enough?" i kept responding "i dont know what color that will be on my hair, i want this color that you've done before". shouldnt they know how to mix the hair color? how am i supposed to know what it looks like when its mixed? after everything, my hair was STILL red and i ended up dying it from a box. so all in all, BAD EXPERIENCE. read more

My review is for Linda who does microneedling for my skin. I have had two appointments with her and my skin has made the most rapid visible IMPROVEMENT in my entire life. She is so knowledgeable about what she does. She is also very thorough. Not many people are educated about the benefits of microneedling and it can be misleading. She took the time to explain the details and the pros and cons. Talk about professional! With this discussion, I felt confident in moving forward with her. She made me feel comfortable when in session, she was sensitive to how I was receiving the microneedling and pain level. She prepped me on what to expect and how to treat it in the coming days. She had so many helpful suggestions on treating my skin as a whole with natural remedies. She is flexible and works with my schedule which I thought was totally great. I also found her prices to be very fair. She knows what you need and takes really good care of you. She does not gouge you! It's well worth every dollar! The only reason I did not score a 5 star was because of the customer service when you walk in. From my two visits, there was no one behind the counter. The ladies off to the side that are there doing nails or what ever, but don't greet you or ask if you have been helped. I just often wait on the side for Linda. read more

I had my hair blow dried here by Anna and it was the best blow dry I have ever had! She was so sweet and finished my hair in only 30 mins ( usually it takes 45 mins at other places). Never a long wait to get in to see him. I get many compliments on my highlights from people. He's great! It's hard for me to really DISLIKE a salon as much as I disliked what happened to me at this salon. I came in because my friend had used them many times for updos for weddings and so I thought why not give it a shot. I walked in and no one said hello, they just stared at me. So I went up the stairs towards the desk and explained what I was there for. It turned out the older lady gabbing with the girl checking-in patrons was my stylist. Everyone was dressed in what seemed to be yoga pants and tight t-shirts which was odd- this isn't a gym, it's a (high end?) salon. BUT Fine, let's be positive and give this place a shot. I walk over to her chair, pull out my pictures and hair combs and tell her what I'd like to have done. She says "No problem- I can do this very easy" ...Well, I got there after 3 other people were already in the chair being worked on and I was done BEFORE all of them. She started pulling my hair, combing, teasing up and down, and then she started to build the disaster. She'd stop in between to show me what she was doing and I'd keep showing her the photo telling her "like this please" and she'd say "okay" ...all the while asking me 101 questions about my life. Honestly, I'm here to get my hair done not tell you my life story. But that's okay, she was just trying to be friendly. Anywhooo, after 15 minutes she exclaimed that she was done and told me to take a look. ....OH MY GOD- I looked like I had a bird's nest glued to the back of my head. She had taken my hair up in a ponytail, and then took strands of my ponytail, curled them and stuck them to the back of my head. I was mortified. When I told her it looked nothing like the photo I showed her, she said I never showed her that photo. I was so disgusted. Even the other stylists could tell. But they all spoke in Assyrian to each other which was so rude. People can understand you guys, even if you think they can't. Anyway, I paid the freaking 70 dollars for the updo and left. I went next to Sephora to get my make up done and the girls could not believe what my head looked like. She ruined my overall feeling that night. I tried my best to fix the mess but it was impossible. She had put so much spray it was like glue. I will never return here. NEVER. read more

Have you ever just wanted to treat yourself to something nice? I did, so I asked around for a great place to get my hair done. My friends sent me to Albert Memi. ** BIG MISTAKE** From the time I walked in to the time I walked out I must have heard 5 minutes worth of English. The hair washer pulled my hair and knocked my head around, all the while looking away and chatting with Albert in another language, ... while Albert was styling another client and ignoring her as well. I should have taken that as my cue to leave. I finally get my turn in the chair, where Albert doesn't bother to ask what I wanted, he simply stated that he was the creator of "invisible layers" and that he would just cut my hair that way. The thing is .. I really didn't want invisible layers! In fact, I had something more dramatic in mind for my hair, but I never got a chance to tell him that, because as before, he went back to chatting with the hair washer in another language. During the cut, he pulled my hair, **burned my scalp with the blow dryer**, and poked me in the eye with his finger!! I'm sitting there debating whether or not this guy was drunk or simply out of his mind! I finally leave, angry, hurt and unhappy thinking I should go get my money back. You'd think this was bad enough, but I get home, take another look at my hair and realize that there was about a 2 inch piece of hair on the left side of my back that was stuck in the collar which he did not cut, and was about 3 inches longer than the rest of my "invisible layers, which I did not want to begin with"!!! If you want to have a pleasant experience, which we all do when spending that kind of money at a salon, you expect at the very least to have all of your hair cut, not get burned and poked in the eye! DO NOT go to this salon! He might be a well trained stylist, but he does not pay attention to what he is doing, and he won't care what you want. Consider yourself warned. read more

Albert is a hair cutting genius. Ever since my first salon cut at age 13 (which btw went horribly wrong), I suffered a series of one bad cut after another. I tried neighborhood places, referrals, high end salons in the city, but each time, I walked away disappointed and in tears on more that one occasion. No matter how detailed my description, or if I had pictures, it was never quite right and even worse when I tried to style it on my own. Albert has been cutting my hair for well over 10 years now and I have never once been dissatisfied with a cut. He cuts the most beautiful long layers and I swear he has done it in less than 5 minutes...I keep meaning to time him, but I'm always so dazzled by his process that I forget. I always feel so glamorous when I leave the salon and better yet, It is still just as gorgeous when I style it myself. The culture at this particular salon takes a little getting used to, nothing bad, but you have one person washing, one person cutting and someone else blow drying, but it is all very efficient and so reasonably priced. The haircut and the blowout was fairly nice, the staff is pushy and unprofessional. They always seem to be obnoxiously speaking in another language and their prices are unpredictable! Sometimes they'll decide to charge you $70 for a color, and other times it's $50. I had a friend walk in there for a haircut and was charged more because it was a Sunday, ridiculous! If they had a set rate maybe I would think about going back there, otherwise, it seems pretty shifty. read more

Visiting from out of town, I decided that my mom and I would splurge and get our hair colored at this salon. I called the day of and Jackie said she could fit me in that afternoon. Great. Once we arrive, we are greeted with blank stares (by Jackie!) upon saying we have an appointment, but then they acquiesce and take us anyway. The guy who colored my hair spoke absolutely no english and did a horrible job getting dye all over my face and neck. When my mom got her hair washed, the lady washing her hair GOT DYE ON HER SHIRT. When another patron pointed out that my mom's shirt was getting trashed, the lady washing told my mom "I told you to lean back". Then on to the blow dry. my mom got the no english speaking guy for her blow dry and he burned her scalp. Albert came over to finish the job and asked my mom what she did to her hair (she has thin hair). On the way out, my mom put her hair in a ponytail because she was so upset with the blow dry. Overall, it was a terrible experience. Their customer service is 0 stars. It's a factory, and they are incredibly rude. You should leave a salon feeling beautiful, but we felt the opposite. After a pretty good first experience at this salon, I decided to give it another try. On my first trip, I needed an emergency blow-out, and they were able to accomodate me for a same-day appointment. I was treated well, and got an adorable blow-out for $25 - yes- $25. Got so many complements on that do! When I went back for color, I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed. I wasn't clear who would be providing service, and I had to ask more than once to get the pricing. Before I knew what was happening, they, the gal who I thought was the assistant was slapping color on my head. Consultation - less than 30 seconds. During the service, I asked what the price would be if I had a trim as well. Big mistake. Albert stopped by and gave me several different options, but he was obviously in a hurry, and it was so confusing, I opted out. All the while, the gals were chattering away in a foreign language and could have cared less about me. Thankfully, the color came out well and the fee was just $40. Albert has the eye of an artist. He will do what you want but he is usually right about what will look good and work best with your hair. He is not intimidated by thick or curly or coarse hair and he knows how to cut and texturize. If consistency is important to you, you have to speak up because as an artist, Albert doesn't create the same style over and over. The staff are very sweet. I can't imagine they would start a process like extensions if the client did not ask for them. I live in Chicago but I go up to Skokie for this salon. read more
