This spot was everything this morning. My kids, husband, and I wanted some pastries so we stopped in. Plenty of parking in the front. Inside the shop was cute and they even had glass panes so you can watch the magic happen. Knowing what I know now, how was there not a line for these incredible treats?! This place rivals Tripoli and Piro's, for sure. Huge bonus, one of the owner's was the sweetest woman we ever met. She asked all about my kids and gave them each their own bag of a few cookies on the house. Each were delicious. There is a circular pink cookie with white drizzle/glaze that might even be my new favorite. Nope, this place is my new favorite. We really wanted to try the croissants, any of their option would have been nice. Nope, sold out. That's when you know they're good! We picked out an apple turn over, lemon poppyseed scone, and a huge glazed cinnamon roll. I also couldn't resist trying the toasted almond coconut cake. Despite it being only 9am, took a fork to it and half was gone. Heaven. Stop by if you're in the area. The prices, service, and the taste of their bakery items are incredible. Bought an apple strudel from this bakery today and can honestly say it was one of the best pastries I have ever tasted in my life. Amazingly delicious, with a perfect crust. Bought macaroons as well, and they are equally fantastic. What's more, the staff (the family!) is helpful, generous, cheerful, and kind. Always pleasant, prices match quality. I wonder why people use only price as the sole deal closer on a purchase. I suppose it does take time to investigate an item's quality and durability. Being on a fixed income in my senior years I am forced to consider these things. But you must realize that whatever you purchase you will always pay more than whatever it cost to make. That's called a profit on the sellers end of the transaction. As the buyer, you control the sale until it is uttered. Carefully check, do I really need it. I had a chance to visit Albie D's on a recent, early Sunday morning and was disappointed by both the service and the quality of the pastry. I selected a number of cookies, including macaroons, all of which seemed stale--hard and lacked the full flavor I expected (from previous purchases.) I also selected an eclair, which again seemed stale and rather flavorless. The other items I purchased included the key lime torte, which was very good, and a small bag of Italian style cookies, which were sold from a small table, as you walk in the entrance--which were also good, but much of the glaze/icing flaked off. The other issue was the service. The young, high school-aged girl who waited on me seemed disinterested, and constantly and annoyingly asked me if I that's all I wanted, even while I continued to look into to display cases, to see if I wanted to purchase more items. I probably would have purchased more, but she seemed to be pushing me along, even though I was the only customer in the bakery--and there was another girl working the counter along with her. Overall, an unexpected, unpleasant experience. Perhaps it was just an off day--as previous visits have always been positive. I even called the bakery later in the week to see if it was under new management. I'll still give this establishment another try, but I'll certainly shop with a more critical eye for freshness. read more

I went into this bakery yesterday, there was 3 young girls working one was very disrespectful to me she looked about mid 20's and blond girl she was on her phone, on call, serving other customers before me while i was in line before. And was being very disrespectful to her coworkers and denied help, the whole time I was in the store with my friend she's made me uncomfortable and rolled her eyes at me when i told her we needed time. If you look at the cameras from about 4:45 on 3-29-25 then you'll see her The whoopie pies were dry and customer service was not acceptable. Little gem that I found on Yelp while we were visiting the in-laws (even they didn't know about this place!) They have great bread selections that weren't expensive either. We wind up getting so many items: - cupcakes - pizza - loaf of bread - lemon square - coffee cake - scones Hubby really liked coffee cake and the in-laws said the bread was great! Pizza slice was also very yummy! They seem to be well known for their monkey bread which was sold out when we got there at 10:45am on a Sunday morning! Fresh made bakery stuff, we tried the pizza slices and spinach pie as well as the lemon burst pastry. The pizza was exactly what you would expect from an italian bakery, Sicilian style nice and thick loaded with a tasty, slightly sweet sauce and plenty of cheese. We spent about 14$ on our lunch and it was plenty for two of us. We shall return to try more! read more

Great little spot I happened upon on my way out of the post office and I'm so glad I did! I can't resist an Italian bakery, growing up in Hartford where I was surrounded by them. Simple place on the outside but inside is where the magic is. I bought a few random things to try, S cookies, almond macaroons and some Italian rolls. I can tell you the almond macaroons didn't make it out of the parking lot; killer, perfectly crispy outside and chewy, fresh and not overly sweet on the inside. Not proud, but that's what happened. When their selection is good it's great but some days or most, it's stale. We have been going there for a long time now and are even friendly with the staff. My husband went in the other afternoon and with only one other customer in the bakery, a friend of the woman working, the woman behind the counter talked to her friend for over 10 minutes without even acknowledging my husband who is a loyal customer. It was incredibly rude and disappointing. Also, don't make the mistake of thinking their tiramisu cakes will taste anything like the individual squares. read more

I found a slice of heaven recently. As someone who tries to limit carbs but also is a Sicilian woman, I had been avoiding going into Albie D's 2nd Gen Italian Bakery since moved to Haverhill 3 yrs ago. Alas, I had caved and now I am blissfully working my way through the menu. You can absolutely taste the dedication to craft and love kneaded into every bite of goodness. The bread is Far Superior to those other guys in the Valley. The cookies literally melt in your mouth. The Danish.....Out Of This World! The shop is fun and inviting, with staff who treat you like family from the second you walk in. So Hooked!! They make such good bread I'm quite obsessed, actually my first time trying sour dough was when I tried their bread and it was so good! Their prices are awesome too. Quality prices for great food! My latest obsession has been their frosted sugar cookies. But they have lemon robbys( cake cookies) which are special to this bakery and they're really good! They have squares, lemon raspberry and fig which smell and taste amazing. They have cannolis, muffins, cakes, cupcakes, eclairs, pies, breads. they do custom orders as well. But you do have to call ahead if you want something specific / a specific amount of something. They have un-frosted cookies as well. Their baked goods are not gluten free and some things do have nuts in them. I've been dying to try the almond butter and pistachio macs ( both cookies) I did go for a position there but I wasn't ready for the task. But I will say everything smelled so amazing. You won't be disappointed and the staff are super friendly! They thoroughly clean and up hold safety guidelines. They require customers to wear masks and have a capacity limit. We ordered a birthday cake for my son's birthday over the phone. They were very accommodating. They took my payment over the phone and let my mom go pick it up. I didn't have to go in and select anything, just told them I wanted a minion. It came out great and tasted delicious! Prices seem to be on par with other bakeries. They have classic pastry favs like cupcakes, breads and croissants, and crazy delicious experiments like giant apple dumplings (a whole perfectly baked apple inside a perfect crust) and chocolate dipped cake slices. Lobster tail tasted like the puns of sugar was dumped into a jar of fluff. The shell was stale and not flaky. Got this off chocolate cake that's was rock hard and dry. Not flavor in the chocolate.
