Came for a spa day, ample parking very serene area. You don't hear the traffic from the road where the outdoor area is. We went on a rainy day but our hot tub was covered. They offer robes and shoes. FYI hot tubs have a lot of chlorine so anything you wear will be bleached. The massage I received was wonderful. The softly spoken rooms are beautifully decorated and peaceful. wow wow wow. If you're on the fence about this place, just book it! I went to alchemy today and I am just blown away by how relaxed I feel and how lovely the entire experience was. I booked my own package (10% off if you book I think atleast 2 things totaling at least 2.5 hours). I did the 60 minute garden tub, 60 minute integrative massage, and the 30 minute foot soak (although they let you soak as long as you like-- so I'd definitely recommend doing the foot soak last if you're doing multiple treatments). everything was great. I don't think there's another place like this in the area. staff was attentive and it all felt very organized going from treatment to treatment. also I wasn't sure what to expect with the foot soak being in the waiting area. but I can say it was so nice and I'd prefer it over being outside in the sun. the seating area is very calming, dimly lit, with spa music. many different types of couches or chairs to choose from. and even though there's lots of space, it's more like multiple small rooms all connected rather than one big space. so even with multiple people sitting, you still feel a sense of personal space. theres nowhere in the sitting area where you can see the whole space at once. during the foot soak, you can add under eye patches, hand masks, and a lip mask. I added all 3 and was surprised they just handed me little patchology packs you could buy yourself on Amazon or target. not sure what I was expecting. however, I looked it up and they don't overcharge, they are the same price you'd get it for on Amazon. so I was cool with it. also I just want to note the robes were SO SOFT. and being a larger gal (normally a 3x or 4x), I am used to towels and robes not fitting me. however alchemy has robes up to 4x! the lockers are marked so you choose your locker by your size. (the towels are small still.) having a robe fit me comfortably with even extra space was SO important and if they didn't have this, it would have definitely negatively impacted my time there, since I spent the entire few hours in that robe. not once was I worried I'd slip and put on a show. so to all my plus size gals you're safe here with that. some recommendations: 1) a comfier seating area maybe with some pillows in the garden or next to the tub. People aren't meant to be in a hot tub for more than 15-30 mins (depending on its temperature), and your signage confirms that. so I would recommend having more seating around so we can relax while taking a break from the tub. I tried to check the temperature of the tub, but the thermometer was worn down and there were no visible numbers, so I have no idea what the temp was. 2) I'd also recommend putting a speaker next to the hot tub. once the jets came on, I couldn't hear the spa music *at all*. 3) some more information and communication would be helpful. for example I had to Google benefits of different foot soaks. if your menus just had a little note about which one is best for sore feet, dry feet, relaxation, blood flow, idk, etc... that would be helpful in deciding which to go with. also I almost missed the swimsuit dryer in the locker room. I'd never seen one before so I had no idea what it was and it didn't really look like it was for customer use. I just read the instructions out of curiosity to see what it was and realized it was for our use! so a sign, or mentioning it when walking us down to the locker room, would be helpful! 4) a cold plunge or cold waterfall or something would be amazing and help our bodies get back to a normal temp on a sunny day in the hot tubs. accessibility notes: the locker rooms are downstairs in the basement. my massage was upstairs on the second floor. leading into the garden there are steps, and also there's random stairs on the main floor between rooms. If steps aren't good for you, I'd absolutely call ahead as I'm not sure if there are any elevators or alternatives. my guess is no. also the door leading into the garden sauna is small. expect to crouch down. I'm a big girl and I was fine getting in, but I could see someone with mobility issues having a hard time. read more

It pains me to write this and I've put off this review for months hoping my recent experiences were from the staff having an off day, however, it seems the issues are consistent. The intake process is so poor! The front desk employees are not welcoming, they seem generally irritated by guests' presence and make the incorrect assumption that we know what we are doing and can help ourselves. They no longer offer robes even when you are receiving more than one service. They leave you in random waiting areas for long stretches of time without checking on you while you can clearly hear them chatting socially at the front desk. The massages are decent so as a long time client I decided to grin and bear it, however, recently I gave a gift card to a friend who has never been to Alchemy and the service was so bad she felt compelled to tell me. She was given no help when she arrived, front desk was curt and rude. She told me she inquired about other services, facials, etc and also about some of the items for sale in the front desk area. She basically was begging to be up sold and willing to schedule future appointments but the staff was so rude and short with her she never had the chance. After the massage she was taken back downstairs and left in a room for her foot soak. She had never had a foot soak here because it was her first ever visit and she received no guidance, no explanations about the soaks offered and infact had been kept waiting so long that she actually called the front desk from her mobile because she was lost and thought they had forgotten about her. When they finally got the bowl ready, they plunked it down in front of her, gave no instructions and left her there. The water became freezing cold and finally someone was waking by and said "oh, did you want more hot water?" Such a poorly run business. I'm sorry to say this but Alchemy: get it together!! The owner has to hold her people accountable and herself accountable to provide the best experience. There is too much competition in the area to treat people so poorly and assume they will keep coming back. I will be taking my business elsewhere. My husband and I had a couples massage at Alchemy yesterday 5/6/23. We chose this place based on all the excellent reviews as well as ok the recommendations of several neighbors. I don't know what happened because we did not receive this excellent service that everyone has raved about and to say the least it's overwhelming disappointing. We arrived early as it was our first visit. We had filled out paperwork online including a "message to our therapists." Upon arrival we were not offered any refreshments, there was a very pretty water container but I did not see cups nor did the receptionist offer for me to help myself. They did not explain to us what time we should expect our therapist to come get us and we ended up just sitting there for about 20 mins. I'm not sure why they scheduled us to arrive at 11:45 if the massage wasn't going to begin until 12 AND they were not going to use that time to have a consultation and they Certainly did NOT read our notes to therapist which both said that we would like Full Body including Face and Scalp. Once the therapists came to get us they spent moment literally asking us what brought us in today (which they would have known had they read our paperwork) and when I explained to my therapist, Viktor, that I had a knot on left side making my neck tight, he said to me "It's working just as it should." He had not even touched my body yet and it made me feel like he couldn't care less what my issue was. The massages were basic and exactly the same on both sides, no customization, no attention to the areas we specifically asked attention. Neither therapist touched our faces. I understand if this is something they don't do, however being that we specifically asked for it, would have been too much for them in the beginning to at least explain we don't do faces? At the end of our 90 mins massage (which was at best around 80 mins hands on, again ok but should be explained up front) we were not greeted with a cup of water. Neither therapist asked about the table temperatures or their pressure at all during the massage. Never once did they say please let us know if you'd like more or less pressure. We paid for both deep tissue and aromatherapy. Neither therapist put their hands over our faces and asked us to breath in the essential oils, my husband didn't even smell his. I could barely smell my lavender. I appreciate a light scent however I've had aromatherapy before and they always waft the smell over my nose and ask to me to take deep breaths. Very underwhelming. And my therapist was completely barefoot. I find that to be slightly unprofessional. I lost sleep over spending nearly $500 on this. ALSO when I booked the price on the website was $360. They did not tell us during the booking process that this price was going up to $370. I have the screen shot of the price from when I was researching it, and honestly had the massages or the whole experience been better I wouldn't care but since we were so disappointed we were also perturbed by the additional $10. We did go ahead and tip our therapists actually more than 20% even though we found their services underwhelming. We just expected More from such a highly reviewed establishment. We will never return and could never recommend. $500 is a lot for a middle class family and could have been money well spent Elsewhere. I had the chance to finally visit Alchemy with my girls and it was oh so lovely! My friend who lives close by loves it here, so when we decided on a girls wknd, Alchemy was on the list! Very inviting establishment. Welcoming staff and really a low key spot that's so necessary. We checked in, changed into our robes and toured the first floor. The calming neutral tone decor makes you mentally relax. The seating areas are so thoughtful with coasters and miniatures games(tic tac toe, connect four) at your fingertips. Water and tea is also available for you. It was a 90m session. I'm usually skeptical doing a 90m for a new place b/c you just never know. But let me tell you how Alchemy and my therapist Eden is a WINNER!!! Soothing, perfect pressure, relaxing, focused work....I almost forgot where I was. The warm bed,heating pads, and the ambiance was great! After the session, I hung out in the lounge and waited for my friends. We all had the same look-- RELAXED and totally SATISFIED! I heard such amazing things about Alchemy Mind and Body, I couldn't wait to give it a try. I booked an hour garden pass with the covered hot tub followed by a 60 minute massage for myself and my boyfriend. The general vibe of the spa was, in my opinion, only OK. The spa can definitely use a relaxation room so when you are in-between services and in a robe, you are not also in the waiting room with dressed patrons awaiting the start of their services or with other chatty patrons who were getting a foot soak. After relaxing in the hot tub and awaiting your massage, you are in a more quiet, zen state of mind. It would have been nice if there was a dimly lit, quieter place for you to wait. Additionally, the women's and men's locker rooms were exactly that. Nothing special at all and certainly not spa-like. No special soaps or lotions or candles, not dimly lit with spa music piped in. It was a dungeon-basement-like, after-thought at best with a bathroom door that gets stuck shut and was very loud to open. The hot tub was great, very relaxing, but it would have been brought to the next level had it had some comfortable chairs so when you are overheated in the hot tub, you have a private spot to relax and cool off. I know the space for the hot tubs is small, but at the planning stage, it would have been great to have built it a tad bit larger to accommodate a hammock, a hanging chair, an Adirondack chair... anything to sit in besides a small triangular wooden shelf would have been nice. Additionally, it would have also been nice if they offered drinks and light snacks or if they allowed you to bring in food and drinks into the garden area. They can of course have restrictions as to what might or might not be allowed, or no eating while in the hot tub, etc, but this would have been a very nice touch. As for the massages, my boyfriend said his was great! He enjoys a deep tissue to help work out his sore muscles and kinks. He said his massage therapist must have been able to read minds because her fingers knew exactly where to go. If I could give her a separate rating, based on his review, she would have gotten a 5! I, on the other hand enjoy relaxation vs torture :) and only wanted a Swedish massage. It was a good massage but not the best I've ever had. I wound up leaving with more soreness than when I arrived. My massage therapist tried but the massage was only OK, if I am honest. I, personally, do not like a couples massage and had booked the massages to be separate. Nothing against togetherness but for me, I just relax better if I am not in the same room as my significant other. I find I start wondering if he is enjoying the massage or if I have to talk to my massage therapist, I worry I will disturb him. Even though, I booked separate massages, we were placed in a couples' room. For these reasons, I can only give this spa a 3. With a little more attention to detail, it can easily be brought to the next level of relaxation but it is not there yet. read more

I read all of these positive reviews and decided to try this place out, despite the high prices, but was surprisingly disappointed. I even drove an hour away from my home because I wanted a higher end place for a relaxing massage at the end of a stressful week. I made a reservation for a 60 min total body deep tissue and arrived on time. The ambiance was nice and I was excited to get started. The masseuse asked what I wanted done when I went in. I reminded her deep tissue and I told her my pain points on my back. I changed and the masseuse immediately started trying to upsell services. She mentioned that next time I should get the 90 min massage. Ok, fine, maybe I would, let's see how this one goes first. She said she liked to get started with the front and asked if that's ok. I said fine with the understanding that she would focus on the areas I noted. Her style was more like normal massage with moments of deep tissue. I am used to deep tissue being that way for the duration of the massage. She did some deep tissue on part of my back but by the time our time came to an end she had addressed the focus points at my lower back that I had mentioned in the beginning. She said our time was up and next time I should get the longer massage or do a focused area massage. I have had many deep tissue massages before and 60 min should be plenty of time to focus on a back. Also why would you sell a 60 min total body deep tissue if that is not sufficient time for you to complete the service? Maybe you shouldn't suggest starting with the area opposite to what your client requested if you can't do a total body massage. It seemed like a tactic to sell a longer time slot to me just because she mentioned that multiple times. On the way to the register she said I should really get massages more often. Even when I was paying the masseuse came down and tried to sell me accessories on the way out the door. Ultimately I was left paying $150 for a massage that didn't meet the mark and feeling pestered to spend more the entire time. Next time I will try a more affordable spot, closer to home. read more

I came back today for the first time and let me just tell you the place is just gorgeous. Total spa vibes and the decor is just perfect and welcome. You're paying for a high end experience. The customer service was awesome from when I was greeted until the end of my service. I got a 90 min massage and love the lights on the wall in the room , so soothing. It was pretty bright in the room since there was a window which was distracting. Maybe room darkening shades or some type of blind could be put up just to make it a little darker to go with the relaxing atmosphere. When I was laying face up my therapist did put something over my eyes which helped. Also the walls are thin so you can hear the conversations in the adjacent rooms. This place is amazing!! My boyfriend and I wanted to have a nice date night so I booked us a Garden Pass for 2 in the hot tubs . After the hour we had we felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. They provide robes, 2 towels per guest and slippers. The hot tubs have 2 jet settings, low and high. Both felt GREAT. Anna was very sweet and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We must have booked at a good time because we were able to use their sauna as well. The garden is beautiful and quiet. We will absolutely be back again. I had a great time at Alchemy in Kingston. I really like that the hot tubs are outdoors with bamboo swaying in the breeze. The sauna was great--so nice to have a tub and sauna to switch between. That said, for the price of 55/person per hour some improvements could be made: no place to put anything in locker room except one small footstool, and no place to sit while changing. No labels on shampoo/conditioner bottles--worn off, and the one i assumed was soap had a broken pump. Shampoos etc were on the floor of the shower and they really should be hung up. I mean, they bill it as a high end joint. It's a saltwater hot tub, but there was a chlorine smell, so I guess they had to add some chlorine which is too bad. Still, I'd go back. read more
