This was my first nightclub ever, and it is still my favorite. I have never felt such an awesome vibration like I feel at this club. This is the only nightclub that I have been to where I can actually respect the beer selection. There are all kinds of People to meet here. You got young professionals in college students to include for an exchange students which is always a treat, and if you know you know. Can't wait to come back. Music is EDM top 40 and hip-hop mostly. There are plenty of effects coming from the ceiling. There is even cold air that is pumped in with the beat of the music. read more

I've been part of the rave scene since the 90's and Alchemy is by far the worst venue I've ever been to (in my 29 years of raving). Came to see Nora en Pure over the weekend. Her set was absolutely amazing. Everything else was complete shit. The openers played crappy EDM and obnoxious mashups which was so inappropriate considering Nora en Pure produces deep melodic house music. The first opening act Evan B Drama was good though; he played some funky house tunes mixed with some techno and he was very friendly. Alchemy was unbelievably crowded to the point where you couldn't even move by the bar areas or even near the exit/front door where people were constantly pushing one another to go in & out to vape/smoke etc. Fire hazard to the max! The dance floor is way too small for an artist as big as Nora; she deserved better than this trashy place. Staff was awful; rude, unapproachable and didn't make you feel safe at all considering my girlfriend and I were pushed, shoved and literally harassed by a good number of men plowing into anyone without care. Two narcissistic wanna be tough guys rudely and dangerously plowed into us to get closer to the stage; I was assertive to defend our safety and told them they are extremely rude and should be ashamed of their behavior towards women which made one particular guy pissed off and he decided to stalk and stare at me for 20 minutes straight. Insecure bullies with bruised egos who enjoy bothering two women in their 40's minding their own business and trying to have a good time. You'll get your karma one day, big man; trust me. Bouncers couldn't give less of a shit. This place is going to end up with major lawsuits if they haven't already. No one deserves to be groped, touched inappropriately, pushed & shoved and physically assaulted and harassed in a nightclub where they paid good money to enjoy an evening out dancing to their favorite artists. People were vaping and snorting coke on the dance floor without a care in the world. Classless. Icing on the cake...the bartenders helped themselves to a fraudulent tip on my girlfriends credit card posted at almost 3 am after the club was closed (2am). We got 2 waters for the entire evening on one transaction. When we woke up there were two transactions. Credit card company has been notified of the fraud and will be taking action. They are THIEVES! This club should be shut down. I would NEVER EVER come back here and I will do my best to spread the word to my fellow ravers to never ever come here or recommend it to ANYONE. read more

I am the victim of racially-motivated violence at this place. My friends and I were mistakenly grabbed by a bouncer and aggressively manhandled out of the bar at approximately 1:45AM on April 17th. One bouncer had me in a chokehold and completely lifted me off the ground. As my girlfriend came to my defense, she was also grabbed forcefully by the legs and lifted off the ground out of the bar. This is not the first instance of unnecessary, racially-motivated violence at this bar. And certainly won't be the last if Alchemy Raleigh remains open in the Glenwood South area. We have pressed charges and seeking legal counsel at the moment. Please avoid this place at all costs. read more

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. Take our story as a warning. Over the weekend, my boyfriend and i visited this establishment with some friends from in town. Toward the end of the night, the bouncers were escorting someone out of the bar. The next thing i know they CHOKED my boyfriend in a HEADLOCK, dragging him out by the neck-just because he was nearby. His feet were dangling as he was getting choked. I immediately jumped in to defend him and they picked me up and threw us out. Don't go here - unless you want to be treated like trash. Upon the encounter, my jacket fell and they threw it directly into the trash. My friends had to retrieve it for me and watched a bartender extract it from a garbage bin. The management refuses to acknowledge or rectify the situation. The bouncers have a history of being excessively violent - power tripping - and kicking guests out for no reason. They are racist and immediately go for people of color. The high turnover makes them unqualified and untrained for situations in which they encounter. Had they used words and told us to leave, we would have complied. Their physical violence escalated the situation. Come to this club if you want to be physically assaulted by both the bouncers and perverts that try to grab your ass. I was dancing on the dance floor and I went to the side and stood up on the ledge behind everyone to relax for a second, a bouncer come over and grabbed me by my shoulder and very physically shoved me onto the floor because I was a male. I walked to the front and the manager of the club asked the police to escort me out for no reason other than I was standing where they decided only females were allowed. I show up yesterday night 7/21/21 and get asked if I've been here before by the bouncer. My gf and I confirm that I've been there ONCE, 3 Thursdays ago and the bouncer goes "did you have beef with someone in here?" At this point I'm appalled ... my response because I didn't take him seriously was "I don't even eat meat" which is true. so I think he went into defense mode automatically like the fragile ego within this guy was very obvious. What an absolute trash venue! It wasn't very busy at open, and most of the people who showed up were there to see Nora En Pure. The first opener was Evan B Drama and he played good house music, perfect for opening for Nora. I jokingly said to my girlfriend, "I hope it doesn't go downhill from here because this is great." But it DID go downhill. Landslide, avalanche downhill. The second opener was crappy EDM. It drew in a bunch of people from the street who came to get high and drunk. The last opener was worse. We went from a good house music DJ to mediocre EDM to absolute garbage. It was TERRIBLE. The crowd was packed but everyone looked bored. Cue NEP taking the stage and this is where I realized this is absolutely the worst venue I've ever been to. People were shoving into us constantly. One man kept bumping up behind me, and I finally had to throw an elbow to keep him from touching me. A few minutes later, two jerks (I can't even call them men because they weren't) completely shoved my girlfriend and I and stood in front of us. Mind you, I was already about stepping on the guy in front of me, so when these guys pushed their way in front of us, I was literally against him. I said, "excuse me" and asked him to keep moving but he ignored me. I couldn't move, AT ALL, because he literally had jammed me against the people behind me.. My girlfriend had a word with the other jerk he was with, who played dumb. This wasn't "moving through the crowd." These two guys literally came up behind us both and forcefully pushed us. In the end, I ducked around the one and wedged myself between him and the other couple that we were dancing with and continued dancing. My girlfriend did the same. But the one guy continued to stare at us both and stand next to her to the point it got uncomfortable and borderline harassing. I also noticed there was a ledge on the side of the stage. At first I thought it was so people could sit, but nope, no sitting. If you're not actively dancing, they'll tell you to move. There was a group of girls dancing for a solid hour and the one moment the girl sat down to reply to a text, the bouncer told her to move. Just an observation but once it got filled up, the entire ledge was nothing but skimpy dressed white college girls drunk dancing. And that's the issue with this place. This was a Nora show. That equals good music, dancing, and class. The clientele they let in ruins the experience for everyone else wanting to experience the actual artists. One guy was snorting coke right beside me, less than 5ft from the bouncer, and invading other peoples space inappropriately. People said stuff to him but he was oblivious and staff did nothing. We were less than 5 ft from the bouncer when the two jerks pushed us, and nothing. For our safety, we ended up moving through the crowd to the back of the venue. And in doing so, I'm pretty sure the venue was over capacity. It wasn't just crowded, it was like sardines in a can. It almost would have been easier to crawl through people's legs to get out. Once we got to the back, we stood near the VIP section, which is garbage. Why is the VIP section at the back? Why is it so small? Why is there no one monitoring who goes up there? VIP should feel like something special. You can't just build a platform 8" off the floor and throw a couch down and call it VIP. I'd have been pissed if I had paid for VIP. Also, the view was terrible. You're barely over everyone else. I watched as people went up to the VIP section, aka climbed one stair, and realized the view wasn't any better. Also, why is it that they had a spotlight on all the opening acts, but when Nora took the stage she was completely blacked out? We were less than 5 ft from her and couldn't even get a good shot. Any video you're seeing on their IG page is from their photographer because they were right up there in her face. Also, the volume for the opening acts was loud but reasonable. If you didn't have earplugs it was still comfortable. But when Nora took the stage, they exponentially blasted the volume to where if you were anywhere in the first 20 ft you couldn't even tell what was being played. It actually made me dizzy it was so deafening. What really topped the cake was that I ordered two bottles of water during the show. The total was $6.50, and I signed my receipt for the same. But I woke up the next morning to a credit card charge that was made at 2:50am. The venue closes at 2am. Which means one of the bartenders decided to help themselves to a tip. If you get nothing else from this review, know this: THEY MAKE A HABIT OF FRAUDULENTLY CHARGING CARDS AFTER THE FACT. This is all over their google reviews and I wish I had seen it earlier. Bring cash, but also, protect your money and valuable and phone too because apparently there is a high theft issue here as well. Overall, just AVOID THIS PLACE. I don't care if my favorite artist was playing at Alchemy. I'd never go here again. It's not worth my safety. read more

So this is like a jersey shore fist pump vibe lol not really my preference but I swear the last couple times I've been here it's been lit. Just went this Saturday and it was fun, very packed and hot. A lot of lit ppl. But I'm only giving three stars because I paid with a card. Left no tip, left my receipt on the cash register with the tip part scribbled out and somehow i was still charged $6 extra this also happened to me the very first time I went.. so I would recommend paying with cash because they will definitely insert their own tip which is illegal but hey lol read more

Honestly don't know what all the bad flack is for Alchemy. Went here since college - and now as a young professional - it's THE ONLY EDM CLUB in TOWN! I'm Asian and was always treated well - and would in fact come in droves with large groups of asian males and females. Music is always what you're expecting for Alchemy - dope ass EDM and sometimes trap. The bartenders are great and always super attentive. They run a tight ship here and never felt weirded or creeped out with the crowd. If you're into EDM this is honestly the only place I'd say in the entire state you'll be able to throw down. read more

My friends and I were here for a night out, there is a HUGE neon sign at the back of the club near the bathrooms that's advertises a "backyard" which we thought was another part of the club, maybe a basement, so we left and were outside. When we tried to re-enter, we were followed by security guards and kicked out with no explanation. The "backyard" seems welcoming and we were met with harsh treatment by multiple security guards. I am 23 and have way better things to do than try to sneak in bars/clubs. When I asked him why he thought it was fake he demanded me out of the line. Last week, I was in Raleigh (for the first time) to celebrate a friends wedding. The wedding party wanted to go out after the rehearsal dinner. We headed to Glenwood and the last stop of the night was Alchemy. We had such a blast! The bouncers we sweet and personable, the music was awesome-we had so much fun dancing the night away. There weren't particularly too many people (it was a Thursday night), but that didn't matter to us we had all of our friends together. Obviously, it was easy to get drinks. The AC was on point on the dance floor, which was crucial for this California girl in the NC humidity! Everything was amazing until we went to leave and the bride realized she didn't have her purse. She was instantly in a panic as she was flying out of country for her honeymoon in three days. The staff saw her distress and inquired as to what the problem was. We explained the situation and they immediately began to help in the hunt for the lost purse. Long story short we couldn't find the purse anywhere. The manager Dutch was super helpful and gave us his card and said he'd definitely search the club for it after all the lights were on etc. (Thank you so much Dutch for you and your staffs' southern hospitality!) It used to be a great place with no cover charge(and hence a very good crowd) and good DJ. But now they started cover charge( so crowd has reduced looking and taking other options in the area). Fog machines can be more efficient, in my comparison to other places where I have seen the effects of fog machine, this was negligible. Staff was great on many occasions that I visited but others' stories might be true as well. For any dance club/party crowd is the key (that's how even DJs get motivated with a good crowd) to have the best vibe and no matter what even a small cover charge will take away that key ingredient and the vibe FOR SURE. I am going up-to three ratings only because of my previous experiences here. read more

This place is AWFUL!!! DO NOT GO HERE. My friend and I both got our phones stolen out of our purses while walking through the dance floor. We alerted management to the problem immediately and they responded with "yeah you're the third person that has told us that". By the end of the night, there were around 10 girls who had been pickpocketed and their phones were gone. We tried to contact management after the fact to see if they had been turned in, and received no response via email or text. Well first, we waited in line for an hour while other people just walked right in. They were clearly discriminating who went in the club and who did not. Seconds after the bar closed, two bouncers approached me and my two friends yelling at us to "get up and get out" "what are you waiting for?? I know your legs work" and we were just gathering our things. Then after I asked the man "is this how you are supposed to talk to people?" He replied, "yes I can talk to people however I want because I'm white". This was beyond ridiculous and so uncalled for. I wish I could give it zero stars. Also side note was my two friends and I only sat by the fire pit and had one drink so it's not like we were out of line prior or anything. I've only been to this place once so far but I was really impressed. I love the white couches outside (brave and risky haha) and all the chandeliers and strobe lights. Pros: it was easy to get a drink, drinks were reasonably priced, the bouncers were welcoming, the layout was spacious, you could walk around without bumping into someone, the music was good Cons: "some" of the patrons were disrespectful and rude (inappropriately touched several of my female friends throughout the course of the night), when we addressed these guys they became combative Fortunately a bouncer did come to our rescue but by that time we were so disgusted we left. Alchemy is a big upgrade from the former "606". They definitely classed up the dance club a bit with a nice Miami-esque patio complete with palm trees and comfortable couches. Inside, you'll be welcomed by a lot of neon lighting and EDM. When the beat drops, the fog machines and strobes fill the dance floor. Drink options are actually good, and I'm glad they have beer beyond Bud/Miller Lite. Rules for entry are pretty relaxed. I've seen them let in people wearing flip-flops and I think the only real rule is that they don't allow baseball hats. If you do show up with a hat, all you have to do is carry it around or stuff it in a pocket. Overall, it's a pretty similar experience to Eden (a club on the other side of the Glenwood South), but definitely a step up. I think Alchemy is here to stay, though I'm sure it'll go through a name change or two. read more

Oh Alchemy, sweet Alchemy. I think a lot of people have a love hate relationship with this place. On one hand, it is one of the only places on Glenwood with a club- type atmosphere. They are going for a Miami vibe with the all white building and outdoor seating with palm trees. Inside there is a decent sized dance floor with a DJ playing nothing but bangers and EDM. Now on the other hand, there is broken glass everywhere at all times and the strobe lights can be a little too much. I swear they are trying to disorient the already drunk people dancing. However, if you make it past some of the ratchet features, you are destined to have a good time. I'd say it's a 1am + kind of place. Anytime before then you are going to say "I'm not drunk enough for this". read more
