We had raccoons and squirrels in our roof. I spoke to Al (owner I think, very nice guy) who sent Don out for an inspection. Don quickly identified all of the points of entry and made sure that I fully understood all the issues he would address in his proposed plan, which included one way tunnels, wire mesh, and metal flashing. The critters are gone and I'm confident they won't be back. They also guarantee their work. I feel that the pricing was honest and fair for the amount of work they had to do. Had Alco spray for insect infestation. Their pricing seemed a bit high but they offered six month of coverage and the reviews online seemed good, so I gave it a shot. Unfortunately my ant infestation has gotten worse and I have been trying to reach them for several weeks to come and respray but have not gotten a single response. The email on their webpage bounces as it is not in service. I hate to leave bad reviews and hurt small business but considering the cost of spraying and the lack of support or customer service I felt compelled to warn other customers of this company. read more

Alco has been exceedingly dedicated and helpful in solving my problems! I first noticed squirrels in my attic, which eventually turned into a raccoon as well. They were easy to communicate with from the start and perfectly punctual in the appointment. The most remarkable thing was that through a variety of issues (largely the persistence of these rodents), they have spent several months returning to make sure that this fully resolved. The animals chewed up every corner of my house and found new entry points, but Alco continued to block off each point and work to harmlessly remove them. One rainy night a raccoon decided to look for a place to live. She searched and searched and ultimately found her Raccoon Hideaway of her dreams. Unfortunately that dream home was my awning. The next morning we heard purring in the awning and figured it was our cat. It was not our cat, but like the baby jesus, raccoon jesus was born in our awning. We knew we had to take care of things! We called the raccoon whisperers at Alco that gave us the guidance we needed for our situation. We waited a couple of weeks and installed the tunnels and when the blessed raccoon family left, they left and didn't come back. They came quickly and retrieved the tunnel as promised and resealed the hole. You'd expect this to be the end but just like Raccoon Jesus he came back a few days later to say hello. Our little masked friend decided to make a HUGE HOLE in the decaying part of the water damaged part of the awning and make his way back in. We called back the Raccoon specialists at Alco who came back and took care of the situation again, promptly and humanely I can say we've been raccoon free in our home for a few weeks now, But I do see them on our porch, at times. I think the other raccoons are waiting for the next appearance of Raccoon Jesus. read more

I called up this place with a BUG PROBLEM and asked for an insect specialist to come over. They told me they would send some one that knows a lot about insects and will be able to identify what the worms i found in my apartment were. Well guess what happened next. The guy they sent me knew NOTHING ABOUT BUGS. He was a really nice person but knew more about rodents. He took a picture of the worm and texted it to his supervisor who identified it and recommended us getting our place sprayed. However the whole family would have to leave to house for about 4 hours to be safe. My problem happened when my 9 MONTH old BABY got really sick around this time and I had to reschedule the appointment. They told me "BECAUSE YOU HAD TO RESCHEDULE US TWICE WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR BUSINESS. IN my opinion they should have a cancellation fee or something else. FIND A BUSINESS THAT IS UNDERSTANDING AND WILL SEND THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO IDENTIFY YOUR PEST! I am not the kind of person to keep messing around with people's time but a sick baby takes precedence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was by far the worse business I'd ever dealth. This was a referral from my retarded cat loving roommate, who'd claimed they were professional and would not harm the raccoon that had been burrowing through our walls for the past few days. We called Alco, they came out and set up a trap and bate to catch the raccoon, charged $1000 by the way. The problem is that they never called when they were going to stop by to change the bate and/or check the trap, they just came by whenever. The guy Robert who is said to be the owner was a total dick to me and my roommates when we'd called to get an update on the process and how long it would take. He was EXTREMELY nasty to me when I aksed If I could have a print out of the charges, fees and other docs pretaining to his company removing the f-ing raccoon. Which was never given to me! They are the worse for phone customer service as well. I mean could understand the stress of the job but IT'S YOUR JOB! Also if you are a female calling this company for help and are home alone I'd suggest you have a male figure there with you as these guys were a bit rude, mean and very unprofessional. These guys are simply amazing! I had a squirrel problem in my attic for about a year , I was finally fed up and searched online for a good pest control company to help me out . I came across Alco animal and pest control . First of the customer service on the phone is so comfortable, Allen made sure he explained what was going to be done on the day of the appointment. The only reason the get one star if because I can't give zero stars! We called about two years ago at this point to have bats removed from the house. They have come out maybe 4 or 5 times because the problem hasn't been adequately fixed! Today we caught another bat! I have called many times and they probably know our names and address by now but when they finally pick up and I say my name is.... From..... They just hang up on me! This is not how you run a business! Now I call and it goes right to voice mail! What real company plays games like this? I'm scared to be home alone or to sleep because I don't know when another bat will come flying around! I will try to get my money back so I can go somewhere else to get the job done correctly. We decided to go with another service as they person on the phone was abrasive. We went with Western Pest and had a fine experience.

Had these fellas come out to check a disturbance behind my bedroom wall, where in the mornings and late evenings I heard a persistent scratching noise. They inspected the house and saw mouse droppings. They laid poison traps and told me to call back in a few months; it takes a few rounds of poison to get rid of mice. But within a day the scratching came back. Seemed there was something much larger in that space; it was now crawling around, making a racket. After a few days, the racket got worse, and what I initially suspected was one animal seemed like more. I recorded the noise and called ALCO again. They came back, listened to the recording and determined it was not mice -- which may have been present, but were certainly not responsible for that noise -- rather, it was a squirrel. At this point they took a ladder and looked outside at the spot where the noise was. The found a small hole between where the slate roof met the house and the gutter was installed. They placed a metal device there, a funnel of sorts, which the animals could walk into and then be diverted right back out. This was only temporary, they said, and I should call back in a few days if no longer heard anything. So I called back, told them we heard no more animals and they blocked the hole with a mesh wire, which -- they said -- nothing could get through. Initially, they wanted to charge me for this procedure, but I mentioned they'd initially misdiagnosed that noise as a mouse problem when, in fact, it was a hole in the side of the house; ultimately, it was squirrels all along. They were very understanding of this and did not charge me anything more than that initial fee, which was not cheap but also not unreasonable. It was, I would imagine, whatever one needs to pay for these sorts of things. Then, some months went by. The noise, strangely, returned. Within a few days I became convinced that the hole had been broken open, that the mesh wire had been destroyed. I looked up at it from the ground and it seemed that was the case, though I couldn't be certain. So I called ALCO again, and they came back, inspected the space. It was true, they said, something had broken the mesh wire, and they'd need to do it again. It was too icy that day to put the ladder against the house -- this was the heart of winter, after all -- so they returned a few days later, installed the funnel once again, and told me to call back if the noise stopped. I did and they came and re-installed the mesh wire, at no charge, a continuation of that initial service call. In all honesty I would have hoped that they only needed to treat that space one time -- it sucked that they needed to do it twice (and hopefully not again) -- but strange things happen and animals can be powerful, unpredictable creatures. I cannot fault a company for a typically-proven solution not working 100% correctly, but I can commend them for attempting to solve the problem, repeatedly, until I'd been satisfied. Ultimately, if you have a pest problem I think ALCO is well-intentioned and worthy of a call. They're a small business, I think two or three guys make up the bulk of the entire company -- but because they're small they're personable and professional, and will do whatever it takes to get the job done. read more

This is a criminal enterprise. We had 2 bats in our Basement and had them come out for an inspection. They lied about finding "guano" bat poop in our bedroom and on our roof however this was just tar from the roof. We were almost baited into paying 2k for services that were not needed. Also, they charged us a ridiculous 325 bucks plus tax for an inspection when 2 other companies came out and inspected us for free. We ultimately hired a different company who plugged our tiny hole near the chimney for less than 50 bucks. Stay away from them. They are scam artists. I am still cursing myself for not calling around before having them come out to see us. read more

Last night while in the basement our son discovered that we had a big rodent problem. My husband & I were petrified so I immediately begin the process of calling around to find a professional who was not only reasonable, but who could come out immediately. I made the call to Alco Animal & Pest Control on a Saturday night after hours and was promptly called back by Al. Not only did he show up on a Sunday morning to help us with our dilemma, he was very down to earth, reassured us and removed the big dead rodent and her newborn mice from our basement.. He put down bait and will follow-up in a week to seal off the opening in my basement & also gave us a 6 month warranty.... I had squirrels scurrying around in my attic crawl space for months. I tried putting in mothballs, flashing lights, banging on the walls, throwing socks filled with fox-urine-scented animal repellent granules -- nothing worked to deter those squirrels from coming back and nesting in my attic. Finally I gave up on my home remedies and called three professional animal control companies to give me estimates on fixing the problem. The discrepancy in price was jaw-dropping, for basically the same solution. One company wanted $1000, one wanted $1300 and Alco wanted $500. Two great guys, Angel and Don, came and went up a ladder to inspect the hole in corner of the roof where I had seen the squirrels coming and going. They identified two other potential problem areas in other parts of the roof. They put in a one-way wire tunnel, and put two sizes of wire mesh around the area of the entry hole. Within less than a day the squirrels had left the attic. I saw them attempting to return, but they could not. In a few days, the guys came back, removed the tunnel and sealed up the hole with wire mesh. The underscored how important it was for me to get a roofer to replace the wood and shingles that the squirrels had chewed through, in order to prevent rainwater and snow melt from getting inside the walls of my house. They were knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to deal with throughout the process, and gave a one-year guarantee. The more expensive companies offered exactly the same service, but didn't bring a ladder to examine the problem. If squirrels or other critters ever get back in, I will definitely call Alco again. I had a raccoon issue in the North Bergen area, he setup permanent residence in my soffit! Having paid a couple trappers previously, with no results - seriously, $175 to trap an animal even if its not the animal you want - is nutso. Alan and his crew came - gave their assessment as how to deal with the problem. His bid was reasonable, so I give him a shot. He and his team came when they said they were going to, set up shop (a tunnel for the raccoon), and came back to remove the tunnel AND fix the damage the raccoon caused in the soffit area. (i bought the material for the repair, however, but it was only $10 bucks at home depot). They raccoon proof any potential entries around my roof with wire mesh. I wish we could've used something else (reinforced solid aluminum with screws?), to be honest, but its not terribly unsightly, so as long as it does the job - thats more important. He backed up his work for 5yrs and said he would come back to deal with it if another raccoon came in - without charge. Thats a hell of a warranty! It's as though he goes on the defensive immediately, if you're just trying to speak to him. I will NOT recommend this company. It's a shame, too, because the people who setup my trap were really nice, but when I had a problem, the owner was downright nasty. His own employees seem afraid of him. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. They are disrespectful, rude and entirely unprofessional. Never in my life have I been called a JACKASS for calling at 7:30 in the morning. Yes, a JACKASS. Wonderful customer service, huh? Story goes is that they never gave us a time for our extermination. So in the morning after packing all our stuff away in preparation for their arrival, we called them. Because of the time (7:30am again, mind you) the following occurred: we got called a jackass in a missent text message (yes, these guys aren't exactly brainiacs), when we texted back he apologized explaining that he wasn't a "morning person," and then when we called his boss to talk about moving up our time, got screamed at for calling early and trying to move appointments. "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CALL AT 7 IN THE MORNING," the boss said and hung up the phone. In short, I wouldn't allow these unprofessional hacks anywhere near my apartment. NOTE: ALCO has multiple YELP listings and I am leaving this review at multiple listings, just to make sure you have a chance to read it I hope they were only having a bad week, because I can't see how ALCO could treat customers like I was treated and still be in business. Unless there is no one else who will do the work, or they are surviving off of new clients and not return business. 6 years ago, when they last performed service at my home, they had to treat multiple times to attempt to resolve the problem. ALCO said that it sometimes took several treatments. So if they have difficulty getting rid of the pest, it's not their fault, it's that the pest is difficult to deal with? Hmmm ? I had an appointment this past weekend, Saturday, May 18, 2013 (because i couldn't take a day off from work during their normal weekday business hours), for between 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. I stayed home and was working in the yard until 3:10 when I went into the house and found a message saying they were running late and would arrive between 3:30 and 4:00. Ok, good that they called, but to me "foul ball, strike one". My problem was I needed to run an errand before 4:00PM. So I called back the number left with the "running late" message, but no one picked up the phone, so I left them a message advising that I would be back between 3:30 and 3:40 and could they please wait for me. I returned around 3:40 and there was no sign that anyone showed up, and no phone message. "STRIKE TWO". This Monday morning I called to see what happened. I spoke to Alan, who represented himself as one of the partners. He said he would check and get back to me. I related the above story to give him some background. He responded that he saw what happened: that I was in the yard and didn't get their message. Shocked by his interpretation, I said "What do you think happened?" He then accused me of raising my voice to him which ended in his telling me that he was "NOT INTERESTED IN MY BUSINESS" "STRIKE THREE" not even a close call. Last Saturday, we were in my in-law's backyard and we noticed our dog Ziggy yipping and spinning around, biting at his tail.. my wife ran over, and quickly discovered that he'd found a nest of yellow jackets and was being stung. We pulled him out of there, but the bees followed us, one of them aggressive enough that I had to repeatedly hit at him with a towel to get him away from the dog (and me, who he chased). After taking the dog to the vet, our first call was to Alco to take care of the bees. At 9:30 the next morning, Alan Constantino showed up and quickly spotted what he described as a large nest - and bees were already buzzing around the entrance to it. He went back to his truck, put on his gear, and we soon saw hundreds of bees reacting to the spray as he coated the wall and the entrances to their hive. He arrived quickly, determined immediately what needed to be be done and then took care of it - all in all, he fixed the problem in about 30 minutes. Great service, he described the entire time what he was doing and what we should look out for, and we wouldn't hesitate to use Alan again if we needed to... very, very highly recommended. read more
