She learned to wait her turn, the value of her peers, manners, and was potty trained. At the age of 3 she transitioned into the primary classroom. While the expectation was high, my child did not transition well. Rather than meet the child where they are and modify the program, they tried to modify my child. As a result she retaliated to the point that she was no longer "allowed" to participate with her peers for meals, or even playground time. It wasn't until we left CMS and I had her evaluated by educators far more experienced and qualified than the staff at CMS that I was reassured that she was just behaving poorly due to being in a stressful environment. My word of caution to other parents out there is that CMS is not a school of inclusion but rather exclusion. Maria Montessori would have never allowed for such a hostile "learning environment" or exclusive parameters from her "guide." I would definitely seek out other alternatives before enrolling at this school simply because of this experience.

Both children emerged from Goddard extremely well-prepared for pre-K, and have excelled academically. We found the periodic goal-based assessments of our children's progress to be especially insightful. The teachers, including Ms. Gopi, Ms. Ti'aunnah, Ms. Hannah, Ms. Madison, and Ms. Ashley have consistently impressed us and shown sincere dedication to the children they teach. All of our interactions with the administration have been positive and we have found them to be responsive and diligent. We have also found that parents of children attending the Goddard School in Southlake are friendly and welcoming. We have enjoyed the seasonal events hosted by the school and its efforts at creating a genuine sense of community among the families there. We are familiar with other pre-schools in the area, including some highly-regarded Montessori schools, and believe Goddard offers a superior academic experience and developmental environment for young children. We could not recommend Goddard Southlake more highly.

When we first started, my son was 3 years old, and we truly loved his teacher. He adjusted well, was happy, and we felt like we had found a good fit for our family. Things started to change when he turned 4 and moved into the Pre-K classroom. During his time in that class, there were 3-4 teacher changes, and the lack of consistency was very difficult for him. We started seeing more behavioral struggles and tried to work with the school to figure out how we could support him together. Unfortunately, we often felt like communication was lacking, and we weren't getting a clear picture of what was happening during his days there. By the time we were made aware of the full extent of the issues, his behaviors had escalated to things like hitting, biting, and trying to leave the school. Even then, we felt the severity of what was happening was not fully communicated. A few months before they decided to unenroll him, we started receiving more details about what had been happening. These were things we felt should have been documented and communicated on the days they occurred, rather than being shared months later. We provided multiple plans and suggestions and truly tried to partner with the school. However, it often felt like our ideas were dismissed with a "we can't do that," or they would try something once or twice and decide it wasn't working. There was no consistent approach, and we never felt like everyone was working toward the same goal. This experience was disappointing because we genuinely wanted to work together to help our son succeed. Unfortunately, I would not recommend NTLC for children who are strong-willed, struggle with transitions, or need additional behavioral support. If your child does not fit the expectations outlined in their handbook, it felt like the staff struggled to determine how to best support them. While there were staff members we appreciated, our overall experience was that the communication and support from administration were not what we needed during a challenging time. We also found that questions and feedback were often met with defensiveness rather than an open conversation focused on finding solutions.

We moved out of state and leaving them was the hardest part. A special shout out to all of the girls on the management team (Chloe, Taylan, Akhia, Liz and Karina) and our favorite teachers Miss Ashley, Miss Blayne, Mr. Francisco, Mr. Spencer and Miss Quinn.
