AE performed a procedure my dentist didn't want to perform and did a great job. It was a long brutal procedure but they did a great job.

Stay away. Was referred to Alderwood Endodontics and saw Birkin Owart on 8/1/24 and had a chaotic root canal experience (my first) which ended with a file getting stuck in my tooth ('file separation'). Dr. Owart specifically admitted his mistake during the procedure. I was told to immediately go and try to get the tooth extracted and start the process of dental implant. I then received a call the next day from Dr. Wu that she would be back from vacation in two weeks and could redo the root canal then. this series of events was very confusing, so there was no way I was going back to this place. I hoped that they would assist in some payment of the high cost of the implant, but claimed they had no liability for the botched procedure. So I'm out of pocket thousands of dollars. Don't go there, whatever you do. read more

I visited Alderwood Endodontics in Lynnwood (10/15/21) as a referral from All Family Shoreline Dental after finding out my previous endodontist had retired. Straightforward to get to their location, although parking is a bit limited. Nice waiting area and pleasant front desk staff. I underwent all the high tech diagnostics with one of the associates to allow for a professional evaluation by Dr. Bogaert. All of the information was transferred to a disc which I then dropped off to my dentist's office. Thorough and professional service, but because of my subpar dental coverage from my contracting agency, it cost hundreds of dollars out of pocket for this appointment. read more

I was referred over by my primary dentist for a consultation of a potential root canal. I called Alderwood Endodontics to schedule one and had spoke with Jennifer over the phone. 1) The scheduling was a breeze. When I came in my initial visit. I was greeted by Jennifer; whom I spoke over the phone. She reviewed my coverage and Out of pocket cost. The staff welcomed me in and had a consultation with one of the doctor(s). I believe it was Dr. Barrineau who took a look and xray from my dentist. Took another on site and after the review and affirmation of what my dentist and I talked about. I was brought to the front to schedule with Jennifer. Fast forward, I came in for my root-canal today and it went smoothly. I had Chelsea greet me and welcomed me in (I believe is the DA) and then meet with Dr. Barrineau; whom performed the root canal. Throughout the whole process (1 - 1 1/2 hours), I felt at ease and although their was no TV or music. The experience overall was pain-free and smooth. When the procedure was completed, and my questions were answered. I was set to leave. I had a root canal scheduled somewhere else that got canceled. Alderwood Endodontics quickly responded to my referral change and heard my concerns about the pain/waiting already for my previous appointment. The staff quickly scheduled me and worked with me on making sure the appointment was as concise as possible. The actual root canal was painless and the doctor was so genuine about making sure I wasn't scared. She also called me the next week to make sure I was healing appropriately. 10/10! read more

Referred to Dr. Bogaert from my regular dentist for a root canal over concerns about getting rid of a deep infection. He did an excellent job with a difficult root canal, (one small narrow root the verged left and right on the end) and completely cleared the infection using "gentle wave" technology. Would not hesitate to refer them or use them again. (Although here's hoping no more root canals). Thanks for taking the extra time to do it right. read more

I had a mixed experience. I was treated by Dr. Grace Wu, who did a fine job. She seemed quite skilled and my procedure went as well as expected with minimal pain post procedure (I guess there's always some pain during the procedure). So what didn't go well? 1) Had long waits between procedure phases. The assistant said there was some confusion on appointment time (or maybe someone had an emergency) and I guess another patient was being squeezed in during my procedure time. So I ended up there close to 3 hours to get a root canal on one tooth done. 2) They say you can get a Starbucks $5 coupon if you write a review (implied good review). I don't think it's proper to "bribe" folks to post good reviews. 3) Their billing practice is horrible. The front desk is all about the money. They bill you up front, even before your procedure has started. And in my case, they ran insurance and said I'm covered for my "exam", yet still had to pay $200 for some CT scan (not covered by insurance) and now they are coming after me for another $80 for some "exam" because they said my insurance won't cover it. Of course, I also paid for my actual root canal procedure but my share of $435 was not a surprise so I'm cool with that charge. read more

First, I do not generally write reviews but I felt like this was worth mentioning. Pros: I was able to schedule an appointment quickly. The provider was helpful, professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I arrived 15 mins early to my appointment. I paid out of pocket at the time of service due to my commercial insurance carrier's non-participating provider status - which is fine and I have no issues with that. Cons: The front desk staff was rude, abrasive and unwelcoming. During Covid, I try to be patient and allow for extra grace and understanding esp to those in the healthcare industry. The front desk staff made no effort to greet me, rather acting like it was a huge chore to check me in and they seemed very annoyed with life. This is unfortunate because the provider was great, however I will go to another office in the future to avoid the uncomfortable front desk experience. read more

My tooth was feeling sensitive and I came to Alderwood Endodontics to see if I needed a root canal. Dr Bogaert tested my tooth and said I definitely needed a root canal. I set up an appointment in 2 weeks. In the meantime, I bought Sensodyne toothpaste for the tooth. After a few days, the sensitivity went away. They were going to remove the nerves in my tooth and charge me $1600 plus for something a tube of Sensodyne took care of. The tooth has been good now for several years. read more

No one wants to hear they need a root canal. Even more, no one wants to hear this child needs one. My 15 year old needed a root canal and her dentist referred this office. They were quick and friendly on the phone, got her scheduled for a consult within a couple days. At the consult they gave us same day options to take care of it due to pain and temperature sensitivity and we returned for the appointment. Dr Rita Lu spent time explaining everting not only to my wife and I but our daughter. During the procedure she explained her process step by step to our daughter and after was patient answering the additional questions us moms came up with. Even gave us a number to call if anything more came up. Front desk was super friendly and efficient, we even noticed their care with other patients coming and going as we waited. Late in November 2022, I received bad news from my general dentist. I needed a ROOT CANAL done on a lower left tooth. This was a couple of days before Thanksgiving, a food-eating holiday. He told me to call Alderwood Endodontics because they accepted my Delta Dental insurance. I called them on the Monday before T-Day. They had an appointment available on Wednesday but I wanted to be able to dine over the weekend. I asked for another day after the weekend. Monday at 11:45 AM was suggested for a consultation. I agreed. Get it over as soon as possible. On Tuesday, Alderwood Endodontics called me after receiving the X-ray my dentist had sent them. Could I come in at 2:00 PM instead because the X-ray confirmed a necessary Root Canal. No consultation was needed. They could do the whole thing in one sitting. Awesome! I arrived at the appointed time thinking that there would be a delay since that has been true for many doctor appointments this year due to staff shortages. Boy, was I wrong. Promptly at 2 PM, Callie came out and said they were ready for me. Dr. Grace Wu, a Harvard educated endodontist was my caregiver. Both she and Callie were wonderful to talk to. They explained what was going to happen at each step. When they finished (two hours later), they told me what the follow up was going to be. I was prepared for pain after the anesthetic wore off. Lo and behold, that never happened. I took two extra strength acetaminophen before going to sleep to make sure I would get a good rest because there was no pain. I woke up Tuesday morning refreshed and pain free. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALDERWOOD ENDODONTICS. read more

Either Dr Grace Wu is awesome beyond measure, or everything I have heard about a root canal is a lie. I was referred by my dentist, and the initial consult was smooth as glass. Everyone was cool and professional. I was well informed of what was going to happen, and felt completely listened to. When it came for the day of the procedure, I was seen quickly, and everything ran like clock work. People were busy around me, but not rushed. When there was something to do, it was done quickly and smoothly. Every step was explained so I felt informed, but not talked down to. Admittedly, I had a good dentist when I was a kid so I went in without additional anxiety. The only discomfort I felt was the initial poke to get me numb and it was easy going after that. Honestly, if it hadn't been for the grinding sounds in my head, I would have fallen asleep. I don't know if there is anyone else in the office, but I highly recommend Dr. Wu. Her team is professional, fast, friendly, and competent. It was supposed to be a root canal, but it was a pleasant experience. I don't even have any soreness hours later. In the interest of full disclosure, I should add the negative part. Earlier in the week they called me rearrange the time and I didn't update it in my calendar on my phone. Of course, I tossed the paper with the number while cleaning my office yesterday. So I had to get up early and look them up online to get the number so I could call to verify the appointment time. And I took a wrong turn driving there, but still arrive before my appointment. None of this is their fault of course, it is totally on me, but it was the only negative part of the experience. read more

Went in to see Dr. Bogaert, He was very concise in determining the problem and delivering a treatment plan. The day of my root canal I was greeted by his assistant, Bree, and taken back to the procedure area. I always require extra numbing when having my teeth worked on and this was the first time it was a one and done. Seeing Both Dr. Bogaert and Bree comfortably doing the procedure eased a lot of my anxiety. When numbing wore off I had minimal muscle pain from the bite block but again, far less than anything I'd experienced from previous work. End results are pain free and happy! If I ever have this problem again I won't go anywhere else! read more

Had to have an infected tooth with a crown worked on. Dr. Grace Wu was so great and very patient, she explained things very well, what options would be available and pros and cons. The staff were all very courteous and considerate. They were diligent in their cleaning protocols and safety guidelines. Having issues with my jaw locking, the staff and Dr. Wu made certain that I was comfortable and always made sure that I could pause any procedure if there was any discomfort. I have had my share of dental procedures and this one was by far the lest painful and even afterwards, I have very little soreness or discomfort. Dr Wu and the office staff have been cordial and informative. As soon as I called about my pain increasing they prescribed an antibiotic as well as a stronger pain med until I could be seen. They called me as soon as they could fit me in to do a partial root canal for my pain. The only reason I have to go in twice was because of my schedule. Bad time due to Co-Vid 19 to have a dental emergency, but Alderwood Endodontics got me in! I was prescribed antibiotics and the pain went away right away. Two weeks later I had my root canal. Everyone was very careful to wear masks, wash hands, they had me use hand sanitizer and wear a mask until they started my procedure. My root canal went well and Dr. Bogaert was gentle, yet work quickly to get the job done. My tooth feels great. Very nice offices as well. I will be back for sure! read more

One of my teeth was aching and waking me up at night so I called my dentist. He told me to call Alderwood Endodontics because, based on my symptoms, he was pretty sure I would need a root canal. Alderwood Endodontics got me in that same day. Dr. Bogaert did a thorough examination and helped me figure out exactly which tooth was the problem. Then they took a 3D scan of my mouth so they could see how deep they would have to go to get all of it. He happened to have an opening that afternoon due to a cancellation. So I went back in the afternoon for my root canal. Dr. Bogaert and his assistant did a great job of keeping me calm and relatively comfortable. 3 days ago I had a terrible toothache. I went to my dentist who referred me to Alderwood Endodontics. He thought I might be able to save my tooth with a root canal. After my exam by Dr Bogeart, it was determined that the tooth was in such bad shape that it could not be saved. I'm now scheduled for oral surgery. Dr Bogeart was very honest and fair. I had a horrible experience at that place! They waited until I was in the chair for my procedure and they sprung a $110.00 charge on me for nitrous. When I got the nitrous the effect was very poor, they turned the flow up so high that it produced a burning sensation in my nostrils. When I got home my nose was bleeding. They restrained face and head so hard that the straps produced 2 inch gash on both sides of my face. They last thing they had this wild music on and the guy was singing " I'm a sinner and a smoker"how I could I relax listening to that!!... a lot of people were in the office, loud talking and laughing loud.. I hope they will change their practices after they see this..... it is all about the patient perception and experience. read more

Horrible service. Way over priced. They refused any credit cards we had to offer. They refused to make payment arrangements even though most of it is covered through insurance. They were rude. I have thought it funny when dentists faked being friendly but these people didn't even bother with that. I changed my whole schedule for this. It's like they baited and switched. Way too expensive. Today I had my second root canal performed by Dr Bogaert. He performed this procedure on me seven years ago as well. I knew in advance exactly what it would cost - Dr Bogaert's staff covered that aspect with me on the first visit. Yes, the procedure is expensive; I knew coming in that it would be. If they had not offered to inform me of the costs, I would have asked . . . Anyway, the procedure was painless and with minor discomfort. Their equipment is state-of-the-art and Dr Bogaert is a first-rate endodontist. He also has a wonderful sense of humor and a great sense of patient comfort (or discomfort). Dr Bogaert's assistant was also very attuned to my comfort and cordial to a fault. After months of tooth pain, I look forward to a summer of cold drinks and ice cream without fear of excruciating pain. Well worth the expense. Highly recommended. read more

I had to get a dreaded root canal. The last one I had, many years ago, was a nightmare. I was not looking forward to another. I called to make an appointment and they fit me in immediately. That was good, since I was in some discomfort. After the exam, they scheduled the root canal for two days later. It went wonderfully. Dr. Wu was very forthcoming with information and knowledge. The root canal was painless and quick. And I suffered almost no pain afterword. However, they charged me more than they quoted in the initial price and gave me no explanation, which did not sit well with me. Their staff was very vague about the charges. read more

The staff was really polite and made my visit very positive. The equipment and office was clean. I had minor surgery around my gums, which the doctor and assistant were great on checking if I was numb. They explained the operation and answered all my questions. And after a week of recovery it seems like they did a good job. Billing was handled very well. Everything was straight forward. She answered my many questions about the process patiently and thoroughly. I think I can say that since she joked with me about dentists having horrible jokes! Dr. Wu was friendly, did a great job, called to check on me and my insurance covered everything except for the 3D scan (which my regular dentist mentioned that I would need). A root canal is not the most pleasant experience to be had, but Ashley Barrineau and Chelsea Richardson made my 4 hour procedure on a Friday night a truly memorable and enjoyable experience. The fact that both of these people elected to stay late on a Friday and made me glad I was there says something very important about both of them. The long procedure was handled with great professionalism, and, even though I couldn't talk with my mouth full of dental equipment, I had a great time listening and laughing with both of them. Dr. Wu was recommended to do a root canal by my family dentist. I called Alderwood Endodontics and was able to quickly set up an appointment to access the troubled molar. They were able to make an access net quickly and scheduled the work to be done in less than a week. Dr. Wu is the first dental professional I've ever been to where the entire process was painless. The root canal work was done quickly and efficiently in under an hour and a half and with no residual pain to the traumatized area. Outstanding!
