a grocery store aisle with a variety of products
    Scott R.

Today was the first time that I have visited this particular location, and I needed to come here to do my shopping for next week. I was actually off from work today, so I figured I would get my grocery shopping done early instead of the weekend. Some of the items that I needed were oranges. Bananas, lunch!eat consisting of packaged salami. crimson cranberry cheese, raisin bran cereal, Tropicana orange juice, and a gallon of 1% low-fat milk. While I was walking through the aisles I also found canned tuna, dill spears pickles, and a box of coffee cakes. I have always been perplexed as to why these stores carry appliances, bed comforters, and children's toys. From what I saw, they have just three big aisles dedicated to only food. I have always thought that they limited space that they have would be better served with selling only grocery items and food. They had a single checkout lane with a single employee, and bout 7 customers in line waiting to pay.

This Aldi is in a busy strip mall. The store is organized and clean. The produce looks just as nice as Whole Foods. The selection is decent.

It reminded me very strongly of a bright new HMart. Fresh fruit and veggies galore. I found Noh's seasoning packets there that I have not been able to find in HMart for years, and also identified numerous Asian food items that generally make HMart a go-to grocery store for me. Clean, organized, well-stocked. I'm thinking I may change my shopping habits a little and start checking out these Fresh World stores when I'm near one. This location is a winner.

Food selection is a great variety ranging from Asian to Latino with the basics in between. The vegetables & fruit selection is super fresh and of so many types you should be able to find what you are looking for. Great Seafood & fresh meat selections, enough to suit most tastes Prices are in-line with area, like anywhere else you have to shop around. So far my wife has found what she was looking for which beats driving to Annandale. The Food-Court has two (that we tried) that were delicious and reasonably priced. Service is friendly enough, and security is tight with a command center with enough tvs to rival Vegas, and roaming security guard.

The produce section is smaller than what I am used to in a supercenter walmart. But everything appears to be fresh, just limited options and empty bins for produce. I honestly cannot imagine coming here on the weekend. Meats, bakery section looked pretty good. Shelves for everything else was well stocked. The parking lot is way too small. People were driving around in circles doing laps looking and waiting for a space. They share the parking lot with Chuck-E-Cheese, so that's problematic and chaotic. Poor planning in that respect. Ok Walmart, just too small for the number of people that come to shop there.

Sometime back last winter, I watched for more than 5 minutes, as staff chatted near the cart area. They glanced at me n continued chatting.. They're lucky to work at walmart- this is by far the most impolite chain of stores I know.. However there's one or two staff that r very professional.. So I only purchased two products for my immune system that totaled to almost $50. After, reaching home I noticed one bottle revealed an expired date. Day two, I returned the outdated product back to Makola Market. I told the male cashier that I purchased an outdated product. The cashier looked angry, snatched the bag, and said nothing. Then he angrily said "Put your card in." I thanked him and left. That was an odd experience. I would think I would be treated better for purchasing their products. The worst experience ever! It was our last stop along this strip mall around the world, and I wanted to go in where the umber pungency of salted sea creatures beckoned. Eagerly, I dove in, surrounded by Africans chattering and provisioning. We walked past the neon bright refrigerated shelves, where the doors were open -- as I urgently passed by, the stoned eyes of the dried whole fish seemed to brighten. Quickly, I said, let's take a tour of the whole store, both aisles. In the back was a butcher with many feet in the counter. I can't remember the others as I mostly registered how big and CLEAN (that butcher is one heck of a pedicurist) the cow's hooves were. And I thought of how long they would have to cook in some delicious peanut sauce from West Africa, maybe Ghana (where the Makola moniker comes from?). I regret to say that we did not buy anything on this first scouting mission. But I'll go back and investigate further. So, if you need to know where to get hooves and such, now you know. I like knowing that it's possible.
