ALDI - Grocery Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

This is a great newly remodeled ALDI. I shop here several times a month. It's not my "go to" store but there are several items that I consistently buy here. The concept of putting a quarter in for your shopping cart is genius. I don't know why every grocery store doesn't do this. It creates so much of a savings for the store. I love the fresh produce here. It's always reasonably priced and usually sourced from local places. In the summer, I always get watermelons here. The prices can vary on items that I frequently buy. Eggs used to always be the BEST price but now the prices vary. The store is clean and the products are neatly arranged. Since they started taking credit cards I have been shopping here more frequently cause who wanted to carry cash ! Come and give them a try and don't forget your reusable bags !!! read more

ALDI - Hours on their door. - Grocery Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

This is my usual Aldi. It's a no frills store. (Especially after visiting the newly renovated "fancy" Durham location). No matter what time I come, it's always packed. There is always only a couple registers open and there are lines. Makes for a "fun" trip with 3 kiddos. Prices are great for the most part. Surprisingly, a few things are cheaper elsewhere, for instance canned tomatoes. Prices also change frequently. One week eggs will be .49/dozen and the next week they'll be .99/dozen and then $1.49 the week after. Just keep an eye on your receipt or when they're ringing you up because sometimes the prices are wrong. Typically I just stick to staples here: milk, eggs, produce. I'm scared to try the meat after that horse meat fiasco years ago. We don't tend to eat a lot of packaged foods/junk... but there is plenty of cheap chips, cookies, frozen prepared foods. One warning: be super careful in the parking lot if your parked on the right side of the lot. There is a slight slant/hill in the pavement. I was strapping my kiddos in the car when unbeknownst to me, my cart was rolling away!! It hit a curb and tipped over spilling my groceries everywhere! Thank God my babies weren't in there! And thank God it didn't hit anyone or a car! read more

I go here every week for grocery shopping. They are a discount supermarket which means their selection is considerably smaller than your regular supermarket like a Harris Teeter or Kroger, but the prices for comparable items that you can find are probably cheaper. For example, their milk and eggs are usually considerable less than regular supermarkets, and the same goes for a lot of the boxed and packaged items. The downside is they have a smaller selection, particularly for fresh produce and meat. If you swear by certain name brands, there is a good chance you won't find them here. From my experience, the difference in quality between Aldi-brand name products and the national brand names really isn't that much, but the Aldi items cost less, sometimes considerably less. A few things to remember are that plastic bags cost money if you want them, and also to have a quarter handy to get a shopping cart. You'll get the quarter back when you bring the shopping cart back to the stall. In conclusion, Aldi probably has the lowest prices for regular common grocery items, but if you are looking for something that is not super common, you might have to try other supermarkets that have a larger selection. read more

I've been shopping at Alid's since I was in high school back in the 70's (yes, I'm that old!) and over the years it's gotten better and better. Back then it was only canned and dry goods. Man, have they grown up! I'm looking forward to the Durham store opening in December, as it's right in my neighborhood! I save tons shopping at Aldi's and for those who don't know - Aldi owns Trader Joe's! Yes, it's true! Aldi's is a world wide company and like Trader Joe's, they contract companies to make food exclusively for them and put brand names on them, so contrary to what many may think, their products are NOT off brands! No, I don't work for Aldi, although I'd like to as I hear they make pretty good money! They have a double your money back guarantee, which I think I've used twice. Never a question asked, just a double refund. I love their selection of dairy, cheese, meats, snacks (great chips for cheap!), frozen items, and for food drives, this is the place to buy canned goods & dry goods for a song! Each week they sell a number of items that they only have until they run out of them. It's kind of fun, but don't get too attached to the offerings as you may only see them once or twice a year. They even have garden items twice a year and too many others to list. To keep costs low they don't take credit cards, just debit cards & cash. And yes, you do have to bag your own groceries. So what?! I'd rather save the money and do it myself. Oh yes, bring a quarter with you for your grocery cart. You get it back when you return it. Aldi has unbeatable prices, and their selection of items continues to grow. Their "generic" items are pretty comparable in quality to name-brand items, and the prices are significantly better. Granted, you probably can't get everything you need at Aldi (they don't have certain ethnic foods, spices, or more obscure ingredients / produce), so you may have to supplement your grocery shopping with another location. But it's worth the savings if you are ok with buying the bulk of your common grocery items here. They also have a rotating selection of home / garden and baby items for a competitive price. There are a few nuances that might turn people off. For example, the shopping cart situation. You have to have a quarter to use the cart, and have to push it back to the store to get your quarter back. This isn't a huge deal on nice days, but when it's rainy, it can be a little inconvenient. They also have no plastic or paper bags available, so it's either bring your own bag, or use their cardboard boxes to carry your things. Also, when things are on great sales, they can run out quickly - so sometimes I haven't been able to get what I need, and I don't believe they have a "rain check" policy where they honor the sale price later on if they run out of things, like some other stores do. They've adapted well to accepting credit cards now, though, which was a significant barrier for us before. We've switched over to Aldi to buy pretty much all of our grocery items as well as some home / garden items, and have been happy with the quality of products as well as the price. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to save some money and doesn't mind some of the inconveniences I mentioned above. read more

What do you get when your combine a Costco with a 7-11? You end up with an Aldi's Grocery Store.... My very first visit to Aldi's required a little getting used to their "business model." First and foremost, the shopping carts are locked up. You have to pay 25-cents to get a cart. The idea is that people will return the shopping carts when they are done and retrieve their quarter. It seems that virtually everyone does this...but for a mere quarter, it hardly seems worth the hassle. Once inside I was underwhelmed by the size of the place. Perhaps 10,000 square feet (about 1/5 the size of a regular grocery store). That 10,000 square feet is devoted mainly to pallet-size grouping of various foods - canned/boxed foods are very popular. You will find only the basics...and things that people are likely to buy in bulk. The prices are very competitive, but again - selection and variety are ho-hum at best. When you go to check out, you have to pay a dime for each bag. What is particularly odd about this is that they do not bag your groceries...they just scan then and throw them into your cart. Once you pay, they have a little shelf where you can go and bag your own groceries if you feel the need. The one bright-spot is the incredible prices on canned food. Those of you who are "preppers" might be interested in the $0.49 full size cans of corn, peas, green beans, and other basic staples. They also have plenty of $2-3 cans of spam, ham, chunk chicken,etc. 20-Pack of 24oz bottled water can be found for under $3 - another impressive bargain. If you a a prepper - you might really like this place. However, it would be impossible to use Aldi's as your primary grocery store due to the lack of variety and selection. If you shop at Aldi's, you will still need to make a visit to the traditional grocery store...personally, this is not worth the time, effort or hassle in my opinion. I cannot say enough good things about shopping at Aldi. I have known about this chain for years, but after moving here a year ago, I decided to check out the Cary location. The produce in this store is amazing. There are a lot of organic options. You cannot beat the price. If you are not satisfied with something, simply tell them next time you come in and they will refund you the price and you can pick out that item again to try(or something similar) for free! Overall: Great for cost-conscious shoppers who don't mind doing a little heavy lifting. They don't have the extensive inventory of a traditional grocery store, but you can get most of your shopping done here to save a lot of money over time. Reasons I love Aldi: 1) It's hard to beat their prices on just about anything. On most items, they are even cheaper than Wal-mart. It's a great place to stock up on snacks or finger foods if you are entertaining a crowd. 2) Generally speaking, their in-house brands are pretty high quality. They have also come a long way in offering a lot of organic and gluten-free options. 3) Small store makes for a pretty quick shopping experience since you have to travel less per aisle. 4) They always have something new, and they regularly carry seasonal items. Sometimes, these items are pretty unique and can't be found anywhere else. 5) They promote "green" practices by encouraging you to bring your own reusable bags or leftover boxes from their stock. 6) The cashiers are very quick and keep the lines moving. Reasons I don't love Aldi: 1) Since more shoppers have caught on to their affordable products, it can get very crowded in the aisles and hard to move about at peak times. 2) Again, due to increased popularity and the fact that they have a smaller stock than traditional grocery stores, they often sell out of some of my staples such as unsweetened almond milk, mixed greens, or certain fruits and veggies. 3) You have to be careful when buying produce. Although it is in great condition 85% of the time, there is occasionally mold on the products since they are not refrigerated. Double check! 4)They don't always have the same inventory, so you can't count on some things to always be there. On the same note, there are many things that they don't have there, so I always end up making another stop for specialty items. read more

I visited Aldis a few years ago and was disappointed in their mdse. . They have improved They now have good prices but as importantly they have tasty food . The produce does not always hit a home run which may be why they offer their 'twice as nice policy' which is money back PLUS a comparable item for free. Recently the avocados were rock hard and never softened up. They refunded the cost and I picked up another produce item gratis.The produce is limited but often very good .I love their berries , variety lettuce,citrus,pineapples and mushrooms . The prices can be impressively low---like $1.25 for a giant pomegranate.As another person commented though , you must check for mold on items like berries. Perhaps their coolers are kept at a higher temp than elsewhere ? Their seasonal offerings can be both great and frustrating . They are here and then WHoOSH!!! ----they are gone. A few have returned and others are just a pleasant memory. Stock up if you really like an item . I read product labels and one of the main reasons I return is that they have MANY products that are very tasty and also have simple ingredient list. One hummus product has the same ingrediants as it would if I had made it at home .No fillers . No "course in chemistry" additional preservatives .That devotion to simplicity is a winner . Try their pork egg rolls at home with some apricot jelly,in place of duck sauce, the next time you want a simple supper. We shop here almost weekly for our groceries. We're not that close but the drive is worth it to not have to deal with "Walmart people" or over pay at our local supermarkets. I recently went to Trader Joe's and instantly wished we had gone to Aldi instead. Trader Joe's is great for snacks and specialty foods, but we are eating healthier now so we ignored most of the items and there was no point in paying more for produce and meat that we usually get at Aldi. A plus for TJs is their wine, flower & nuts/dried fruit selections...but not a spot for staples. FYI: Trader Joes and Aldi are owned by the same German company. So many of their store brand are probably made by the same distributors. The produce at Aldi is my favorite section. Fresh and cheeeeap. Great chocolates, cheeses and they've increased their selection of healthy/organic foods which is great. Meat selections aren't much but the steaks are decent. A treat is their "select buys" which don't last long so if you find something you think you'll love...buy a bunch. Their housewares aren't bad either. I've had a Dutch oven from them for years. This a great little store! From what I hear, Aldi's can be hit or miss as far as how nice/clean they are. This one is very clean, and all the workers I have encountered have been very pleasant and helpful. They have a nice wine selection, and some of is really cheap (under $3)...I have a tight budget, and l enjoy occasional wine but am not a wine snob, so I appreciate that :-P Not complaints, but things you should know: - They charge for bags, so take your own (I use my personal reusable ones, which are more environmentally friendly anyway!) - They charge to use carts, but it's just a deposit. You get the quarter back when you return it. That helps keep carts from being left all over the parking lot, too! - They do not accept credit cards or checks. Only cash and debit. (I don't know about food stamps, sorry) At other places, I would use my credit card (I don't do debit), so I always need to make sure I have some cash on hand before I go here. A few downsides: - They do not have a large variety of stuff. This is because their whole goal is to keep costs down...they do this by stocking generic or one-brand of food, hiring fewer staff, and cutting expenses like plastic bags and credit card charges (see above). - They have the best prices for produce anywhere...however, it can be hit or miss for quality. The other day I saw quite a few moldy oranges for sale. Most of it is good though, and if you are going to use it soon after buying it, it's usually great! Overall, it is really great for people on a budget! It likely cannot be your only grocery store due to the lack of variety. However, I go here first and get what I can, then I head right across the street to the Walmart market to get whatever else I need. read more

Know before you go: This is a different kind of grocery store. Everything is store brand and they carry limited products. There are no frills here. Bring your own bags or be prepared to buy them. Don't forget a quarter so you can get a cart. And you'll be walking back to the store to return it yourself. All this penny-pinching leads to the lowest prices you'll find in the area. Currently a dozen eggs are $0.39 and a gallon of milk is $1.49. I shop here regularly, but go to another grocery store for deli and bakery items. Alsi has this strange model: they have stacks of food that may or may not interest you, and it strikes me more as a food bazaar than an actual grocery store. The discounts seem real, but I always seem to come out of there with stuff I didn't really need, and lacking some of the things I actually did need. Aldi Foods kind of reminds me of shopping at Wal-Mart in Mexico. Lots of odd brands that you have never heard of before for really really cheap. Not so much on the housewares, mostly food. Yogurt for .43 cents, Kraft Mac & Cheese for .70 cents. I noticed that most of the folks there crowded around the meat section and were piling their carts full of stuff from that section. I noticed fresh ground beef for 3 lbs for $4.99 which I think is really good. I, regrettably, am not much of a bargain shopper but I appreciate the mentality and these people shopped with the ferocity of those who know they are getting a great deal. read more

I only come here for large tubs of yogurt to make smoothies. A few more things I like are trail mix, plain bagels, and 90/10 ground beef. Monday afternoons seem to be the busiest times. I always tell people to give Aldi a try..you may find something that you like. Don't be fooled by the odd brand names on the products..it means nothing..it's the same as more familiar brand names you may find in another grocery store. I've been to many Aldi locations over the years. It keeps getting better. The Cary location is clean, bright, and modern. Their prices are reasonable, cheaper than Walmart and Food Lion. I've tried many of their foods (99% of the items are made by companies exclusive to Aldi by the way), and they're just as good or better than the name brand. The staff members at the Cary Aldi are nice, courteous, and friendly. My only complaint is the aisles can get cramped. Sometimes I find myself waiting to push my cart through because of the narrow space. You have to pay a quarter to get a cart, and you get the quarter back when you return it to the corral. You also have to bag your own items, but it's worth it when you save so much money. I love Aldi and I recommend it to everyone. read more

Was not a fan my first few visits. Now after about 4 months I don't go a week without stocking up. My model stock includes: eggs, milk, yogurt. Fruits and veges depend on what's available. Love the zucchini, kale and spinach salads too. To my surprise the fresh salmon and thin sliced chicken breast have been terrific. A weirdly european (for obvious reasons) shopping experience. Like wal mart community store with even less employees on hand. Some interesting finds and great prices but cannot replace a grocery store. You will absolutely not be able yo find everything you need here. The stuff you do find will be no name brand but good quality. Great prices on meat, eggs and milk. Oh and dont forget that pool hammock or power drill on the way out. Strange but it works. Side note: never ever seen more than 2 registers open at once. If theres a few cars in the lot, you WILL be waiting to check out. Bring you own bags. They dont provide any at all. Bring a quarter. They have an interesting idea of making you plug a quarter into a lock to release a grocery cart. The only way to get it back is to return the cart to the corral and lock it releasing your quarter. After the remodel during May of 2018, Aldis is now a different store. What used to be a unique and interesting shopping experience is now a trudge through any other store were displays block the isles and lots of cheap plastic stuff/junk is in many isles instead of one. There are now lots of overhead signs making it just too much, feeling like Walmart or something. Sure, you didn't go to Aldis for the ambiance. But now it's just like a dollar store or Walmart, places I tend to avoid because they feel too cramped, stuffed, and you can't walk around freely because the isles have stuff in them. Aldi has great prices, my grocery costs have been cut by 40% since I started shopping here. No, they don't have everything all the time, but they do have most things I buy most of the time. And the "off brands" in most cases taste just like the real thing. There are a few items, my family doesn't like the Aldi version of, (like the cheese crackers) but most things like fiber bars, granola bars, apple sauce and cereal are great. There is even one Aldi brand of cereal that my daughter LOVES, and I can't get that particular cereal anywhere else. I do however wish they had more healthy foods. Like more options for their whole wheat pasta and brown rice. But I have notice an increase in healthy options from time to time. Once they even had almond milk! Most weeks, I make two grocery store stops. Once to Aldi, then to Kroger to get what Aldi didn't have available or didn't have in stock. This has lowered my grocery bill tremendously. read more

I would rather bag my groceries and be out of there in five minutes. TRUE STORY: I rolled into Aldi and grabbed a gallon of milk, a head of cauliflower, a bag of carrots, several pounds of nectarines and plums, two pounds of 15/85% hamburger and a package of three gorgeous, ripe, red tomatoes. At the counter I grabbed a couple of cold coffees that were off-brand so that I could sample them. In and out in less than seven minutes and I paid just under $17.00. Worth bagging my own groceries and paying cash? You bet! Try this at Food Lion or elsewhere...just see if you can get out for under forty dollars. read more
