This is my favorite German-style Supermarket. I like it better than the new Lidl that was built a block away. However, if their sign says open at 8am, I don't expect to be writing outside in the cold at 8:10 waiting for them to open.

What do you get when your combine a Costco with a 7-11? You end up with an Aldi's Grocery Store.... My very first visit to Aldi's required a little getting used to their "business model." First and foremost, the shopping carts are locked up. You have to pay 25-cents to get a cart. The idea is that people will return the shopping carts when they are done and retrieve their quarter. It seems that virtually everyone does this...but for a mere quarter, it hardly seems worth the hassle. Once inside I was underwhelmed by the size of the place. Perhaps 10,000 square feet (about 1/5 the size of a regular grocery store). That 10,000 square feet is devoted mainly to pallet-size grouping of various foods - canned/boxed foods are very popular. You will find only the basics...and things that people are likely to buy in bulk. The prices are very competitive, but again - selection and variety are ho-hum at best. When you go to check out, you have to pay a dime for each bag. What is particularly odd about this is that they do not bag your groceries...they just scan then and throw them into your cart. Once you pay, they have a little shelf where you can go and bag your own groceries if you feel the need. The one bright-spot is the incredible prices on canned food. Those of you who are "preppers" might be interested in the $0.49 full size cans of corn, peas, green beans, and other basic staples. They also have plenty of $2-3 cans of spam, ham, chunk chicken, etc. 20-Pack of 24oz bottled water can be found for under $3 - another impressive bargain. If you a a prepper - you might really like this place. However, it would be impossible to use Aldi's as your primary grocery store due to the lack of variety and selection. If you shop at Aldi's, you will still need to make a visit to the traditional grocery store...personally, this is not worth the time, effort or hassle in my opinion. Cash/Debit Only...They do not accept credit cards 5-Stars for Preppers / 2-Stars for Everyone Else

That's a whole lot of food for $22!

I cannot say enough good things about shopping at Aldi. I have known about this chain for years, but after moving here a year ago, I decided to check out the Cary location. The produce in this store is amazing. There are a lot of organic options. You cannot beat the price. If you are not satisfied with something, simply tell them next time you come in and they will refund you the price and you can pick out that item again to try(or something similar) for free! Dairy products are a go to.

    LOTS OF GREAT ORGANIC FOODS..

It's a standard Aldi's. Pretty decent selection of food at very decent prices. Staff are kinda helpful too if you need it.

Typical Aldi. Clean, great prices, usually well stocked, in a convenient location. They did a fantastic job of staying stocked during COVID

It's a little like a treasure hunt here, but the prices are right even if the selection is kind of limited. You are get the staples.

Even though I can't see it, I know everything will come freshly picked and very clean (although I still wash it all). They say they have "grocery store prices." I'm not sure I agree--the prices were a bit higher than the stores where I usually shop, but the freshness and quality make up for the difference. At Papa Spuds, you order online between Friday afternoon and Monday at 12 p.m. From 12 to 1 on Monday, you can get discounted produce, but they had a limited selection when I tried this. Later on Monday, you get an email telling you when they'll deliver. The packaging is recyclable, and you're expected to put it out on the morning of the next delivery, so it can be reused. I like that you have the choice of buying a weekly or bi-weekly box. Although I haven't tried any, yet, they also offer meat and seafood, along with the more-common fruits, vegetables and dairy products.

I love that I can order my weekly veggies and fruits. I get to pick and choose what I want included. If I spot something extra, like some of those amazing baked goods I can just add additional funds for the week. They have a great selection of local as regional produce. It feels good to support local farmers and get great fresh produce, plus they bring it to my door. My son loves the La Farm bread and he gets so excited on Wednesday night.

My favorites are strawberry and tangerine, but my mom loves the peach and the chocolate flavors. I also treated myself to the picual olive oil for dipping bread and it's so fruity and fresh! Light years better than grocery store olive oil. The store has sample cups around for customers to try all the flavors. I recommend bringing a bottle of water because the vinegar does tend to dry out your throat a bit. They also have a customer loyalty punch card so you can get a free bottle, which is really fun.

Parking is problematic as the lot is diminutive so spots are at a premium. We lucked out... The shop is medium sized with 2 rooms and check out area. It houses 65+ Balsamic vinegars and Olive oils with varied flavor profiles; sweet, savory, sour, spicy, and everything in between. Our tour guide, one of the proprietors, was knowledgeable, but somewhat aloof. She prepared fresh popcorn and bread for tasting, and offered us fresh apple cider. The oils and vinegars are aged 12-18 years, depending on the product, and stored in fusti's. They sell them in several sizes, and allow for bundles at discounted prices. $7-$20 seemed to be the range. Tuscan oil is there most popular, and sweet balsamics are said to be great on salads/vanilla ice cream. Personally, I gravitated toward the oils with heat, and one in particular (peri peri), transported me back to my 12 year old self enjoying the above in Southern Africa. Thanks for the tour, and back to the future moment.

But lately when picking up groceries that have been ordered online......there has been a very obvious pattern developing. If an item is on sale, such as buy a certain number and get a certain number free.....the store will "conveniently" be short of one item so that you don't qualify for the sale and they charge you full price for the rest of said items. Secondly and more frustrating, we are now getting numerous EXPIRED items, or DAMAGED / OPENED items.....that they clearly could NOT sell in the store. This is NOT just happening to my groceries, but also to MANY of my neighbors in our nearby community. At first I thought nothing of it, but now after talking with many of my neighbors and it happening SEVERAL times...it's clearly a SCAM to make MORE PROFIT. I have posted this on several online forums and reported this to the Better Business Bureau providing them with dated receipts and photos of the goods in question. You should be ASHAMED of yourselves. There are plenty of nearby options other than this criminal establishment. You have now lost SEVERAL customers due to your petty schemes and scams.
