Wow. This location is an epic mess. Stopped by to purchase a Lidl gift card for a housewarming…read moregift. Very long lines, only two registers open. Tried to use self checkout (only two open!) and the register couldn't read the gift card code. I waited for an employee to see the alert at my register - a young man came over and basically said "it can't read the card, I don't know". He was lacking any customer service skills. Back into line again. The line I was in had credit card reader issues, lines were growing exponentially longer as we all waited. An employee was trying to remedy the reader situation, it was not resolved. The employees were not very friendly. Store was messy, crowded and overall I couldn't wait to get out of there! Absolutely won't visit this location again. The WF Lidl is worlds better.

Surprising to me- the Wegmans-branded artisanal bread, frozen pizzas, kombucha, sandwiches-to-go, chocolate chip cookies, and sparkling water; regional foods; large selections of many things (100 some odd protein bars?), and a large selection of regional craft beers and ciders, to name a few. I've lived in Raleigh for 14 years, and while I've enjoyed a few things from The Fresh Market before, I had never tried their bakery items. When I saw them on the Too Good To Go app, I decided it was the perfect excuse to run out and try it. My first two interactions were fantastic--the lovely elderly woman in the bakery and the sweet cashier checking me out were absolutely amazing and treated me with genuine kindness. However, the front-end manager (I believe her name was Tip or Tiff) completely ruined the experience. Her demeanor was an absolute deterrent. In an interaction that lasted less than three minutes, she hounded the cashier, repeating four or five times: *"Make sure you watch her scan it on the app."* The first time she said it, I thought nothing of it--just standard store process. But repeating it aggressively that many times while I, a Black customer, am just standing there rubbed me entirely the wrong way. To make matters worse, I had also picked up a granola bar to purchase. The manager came over *again*, hounding the girl: *"What are you doing? I have to make sure. Did you actually see her scan it?"* I felt incredibly sorry for the poor cashier, and frankly, I felt targeted. It is deeply frustrating to still deal with people acting like I don't belong in spaces where I absolutely do--and it's even more disheartening when that energy comes from another minority. If I had known I'd be treated with that level of baseline suspicion, I wouldn't have even spent money on the granola bar. That manager's behavior completely turned me away from ever spending my money at this store again. I truly hope this is a lesson for her in how she treats people. To the sweet cashier and the wonderful woman in the bakery, thank you for being decent human beings--I hope you both have an amazing day.
