I have mixed feelings writing this because parts of my experience were lovely, but the management completely ruined it. I've lived in Raleigh for 14 years, and while I've enjoyed a few things from The Fresh Market before, I had never tried their bakery items. When I saw them on the Too Good To Go app, I decided it was the perfect excuse to run out and try it. My first two interactions were fantastic--the lovely elderly woman in the bakery and the sweet cashier checking me out were absolutely amazing and treated me with genuine kindness. However, the front-end manager (I believe her name was Tip or Tiff) completely ruined the experience. Her demeanor was an absolute deterrent. In an interaction that lasted less than three minutes, she hounded the cashier, repeating four or five times: *"Make sure you watch her scan it on the app."* The first time she said it, I thought nothing of it--just standard store process. But repeating it aggressively that many times while I, a Black customer, am just standing there rubbed me entirely the wrong way. To make matters worse, I had also picked up a granola bar to purchase. The manager came over *again*, hounding the girl: *"What are you doing? I have to make sure. Did you actually see her scan it?"* I felt incredibly sorry for the poor cashier, and frankly, I felt targeted. It is deeply frustrating to still deal with people acting like I don't belong in spaces where I absolutely do--and it's even more disheartening when that energy comes from another minority. If I had known I'd be treated with that level of baseline suspicion, I wouldn't have even spent money on the granola bar. That manager's behavior completely turned me away from ever spending my money at this store again. I truly hope this is a lesson for her in how she treats people. To the sweet cashier and the wonderful woman in the bakery, thank you for being decent human beings--I hope you both have an amazing day. read more

After visiting this store, my 92 year-old mother discovered she had locked her keys in the car. The staff went above and beyond to try to reach me and to assist her in getting AAA there to unlock her car. While my mother waited for AAA, the sales associates talked to her and checked on her every 10 minutes (she was sitting outside at a table) until she was in her car and on her way home. read more

If you are not a cook, get started in impressing your guests with some already semi-prepared items, like herb stuffed chicken breast, etc. Nice! This is a teachable moment for the Fresh Market. In reading about all these cases of food borne illness, imagine my horror when the cashier took my organic parsley and peeling the plastic bag away, dragged the raw herb across the dirty glass scanner. This is not the first time this has happened to me and it wasn't at the same store. The sku code was small and would not read through the plastic like at other grocers, so they really have no choice but to expose the produce. This is completely unacceptable as many things are dragged across that scanner. All kinds of dirt and grime end up on that glass scanner (no doubt chicken and meat juices) and the chemical cleaner they use to clean it would negate the reason I buy organic. Rinsing the produce off would not get off any grime or chemical absorbed into it. As this has happened to me more than once, at different Fresh Market stores, I imagine this is not part of the food safety training program for cashiers. Do better!! read more

I ordered the Easter Meal for 4 and could not be more pleased. It came with 2 lbs of delicious honey spiral ham. The sides included blanched green beans, creamy, cheesy scalloped potatoes, 8 King's Hawaiian rolls (which we used to make leftover hams delites), & the most gooey, yummy peanut butter & caramel brownies. The warm and fuzzies at this store is a main reason I continue to shop here. The staff is amazing. The store is always clean. I don't drink coffee but my household does so I always try the samples and make a decision accordingly. I was saddened when you could no longer pick individual K cups and create your own pack. It definitely made it more difficult searching to find what my family liked having to buy a full box. I love that the meats and veggies are always very fresh. They run pretty good sales on them as well. I always get new cooking ideas by reading the different glazes they use for the meats or the ways they stuff them. This market has a pleasant vibe, so on my way to or from the library I've occasionally popped in for something I've forgotten to buy. I have found a few vegan sweets, they also have some lovely flowers, nice looking fruit, and a thoughtful beer selection. Unfortunately it's a 50-50 chance that I'll find what I'm looking for here, whether it's a staple (they don't have staples like flour), fresh produce (I once came looking just for cilantro, and they were out), or a healthy cold beverage (I found only sodas and caffeinated drinks). They also inexplicably removed their small but incredibly useful kosher section, so with that there's not much reason for me to stop in too often. read more

I'm a fan of The Fresh Market! Parking in this area of Cameron Village is easy as long as you don't go during the holiday season of November/December. Price wise I always feel like I spend wayyy to much here, but they do have high quality stuff and things that are more unique than your standard super market. The meat/fish counter is awesome here and if you are looking for something specific and fresh this is the spot to go. They also carry Jenni's ice cream which I think they are one of the only spots in the Triangle that carries those delicious pricey pints. I also think they shine in the produce department, they had cotton candy grapes way before the Teeter or the other bigger stores got them. The florals are also beautiful and a great spot if you want to pick up a beautiful looking bunch for a great price. Overall a great market, but be ready to spend more than you usually do. read more

Love the online ordering and curbside pickup option. I appreciate this not only because we're living under the shadow of a pandemic, but also because I have a tendency to get overwhelmed in grocery stores, and this offers me a way to shop without the stress. I've used instacart at other stores and had the order delivered, but continuously had missing items from those orders. No items purchased from Fresh Market have ever been missing from my curbside pickup orders. A freebie item was forgotten once, and when I called, the manager was so incredibly nice and apologetic and rushed it out to me. The shoppers are always really kind and helpful if any substitutions are needed. The rotisserie chicken is fantastic, and I love the meal deals. I enjoy the feel of the store when I'm up for going in, and appreciate that it's smaller and easy to get around. The store does a great job of curating their products. I like to browse the new items and discover new favorites. For instance, I'm hooked on these gluten free crackers they sell, and I'm not even gluten intolerant. I refuse to name them because I'm addicted and if they sold out, I'd be crushed. On second thought, those crackers are terrible and you definitely do NOT want them. read more

I just left The Fresh Market again for the third time this week without purchasing. I try to get there multigrain croissants and they have none. I have requested they make more, as they always run out, and they promise and then don't. I leave angry and go to Harris Teeter. I have been to,d they are in demand and go fast. Spent over $500 on meat in this store, only to get the worst possible experience ever!! I will never return! The breded catfish was bad when taken out to eat. The cuts f ribeye steaks were way too thick and poorly cut, using end pieces, typically not sold as ribeye. The filet mignon were too thick and mostly fat. Never again! The only good cuts were the stew meat and the trout. read more

I went to library near this location and I ran into this particular location because I needed some spicy crab dip but that they didn't have the spicy kind. The staff was really nice and they gave my son a cookie. The store is smaller than the one off if falls so it felt a little cramped. The shelves were well stocked and the store was extremely organized. They also had an awesome flower section with some beautiful roses. The parking was good because it's in a shopping center. Since I live close to Cameron village, I shop here regularly. The quality of the produce and pretty much everything they have is great. My only issue regarding the meal kits. They are great easy dinners for two, and again they qualify is great. The issue is tonight was the third time I've come home, opened it up, and half of the meal is missing. I once got steak, sweet potatoes, and green beans; only one filet was there. Another time I got salmon, and only one Filet was there. Tonight I got steak fajitas and Spanish rice; the Spanish rice was missing. If I'm paying $16-19 on what should be two meals, I expect to not have to worry about getting home to find half the meal is missing. Tip, check to make sure everything is there before checking out. I thought it was a one time thing, but now this is the third time from this location this has happened. read more

Ok so I like the fresh market. However you will pay more here. The price may include better quality products...fresher perhaps. But some of the items are overpriced simply because they are sold here. So keep that in mind when buying brands you can find elsewhere from here. With that being said it is the fresh market so you're paying for specialty items sometimes....so expect to pay more. Sometimes it's worth it. This fresh market is kind of small but it's location is great. It's in Cameron village so if you stop here you can walk around to plenty of other stores...possibly run multiple errands. But this shopping center is on the pricier side...including places like the Black and White Market. There are also plenty of reasonably priced food places around. I love the bakery at the fresh market. You can but single slices of cake, brownies, cookies, pastries, etc. Some of the prices are good but some seem over priced. For example, a 1inch circle macaroon (you can literally pop it in your mouth) is a $1 and change. But at the same time you can get a box of fresh made cookies or pastries for $4-6. Buying deserts in bulk will help drive down cost for sure. You can also buy whole cakes too. And not ones you can find at Walmart. Even though this place can be expensive they do have some good deals at times. And if you're at NC State student you get 10% off. Customer service is also good. Everyone is nice and helpful. If you're in the area I'd check it. This is my go to spot for desert currently! read more

The coffee sucks. As important as coffee is to people in the morning they could at least provide a quality level of coffee that can make a difference in our morning. Please invest in a more quality coffee we need it!!!!!!!! It tastes like water with no caffeine, my co workers all agree as well you are a New York Exchange owned company now invest in the coffee drinkers who support your store. I love this store but find it hard to believe that they are the only grocery store in the area that does not open before 8:00 am.

I love the size of the store and the ease of getting in and out quickly. They have a great selection of merchandise with pretty much anything you could need on a daily basis. They hold the produce to a very high standard and my daughter loves all of the fruit. Rotisserie chickens are better than any other store. The prices can be a little high but I figure I am paying A little extra for the easy shopping experience and it is worth doing that. read more

I'm one of those people who loves to grocery shop. I often imagined working at Fresh Market when I was in college because I love this store so much. I grab my little cart and head right to the coffee that you can smell throughout the store, I grab my sample cup and prepare to fill my cart with delicious goodies. The Fresh Market keeps all it's fresh produce in the front of the store when you walk in so stay out of those junk isles and grab some of their fresh fruit and veggies. Their produce is definitely more expensive then your neighborhood store but worth it for the freshness. I love Tuesdays at Fresh Market they have different deals every Tuesday but I come in for the $2.99 chicken breasts. These chicken breasts are my favorite. I also love the bourbon salmon at FM and often buy one for a quick dinner. If you are in a hurry for lunch or dinner there are plenty of options to go. My latest find at this FM is tuna poke and sashimi (they only keep a few so get there early to grab one). For $9 I get a huge portion of fresh tuna and I can never eat the whole thing so it's 2 meals for me. They also carry pre-made pizzas, rotisserie chickens, sushi, and tons of other goodies. My weakness at FM is the jelly beans, I don't what my obsession is with jelly beans but I love this chewy fruity little guys. My favorite are the sours and you have so many flavors to choose from at FM, plus you can mix them all together for the perfect mix. They have a ton of other candy too so you can make a great gift bag for someone. I also love to make my own almond butter, sure it's not cheap but damn it tastes so much better when you grind it fresh yourself then buy it in a jar. You can make bags of your own nuts and trailmix from the bulk section as well. If you have any food allergies then FM has a great selection of gluten free and speciality food products. The wine section is not to shabby either and you can find some local wineries stocked here. At FM you can also pick up beautiful flowers. They pretty much have everything you need and on top of that it smells good and is easy to navigate the store. My go to when I have money to spend. read more

I was in Cameron Village recently doing a little Holiday shopping and originally my plan was to go to Whole Foods, but I knew that WF would be crazy crowded this time of the year (or anytime of the year), and I remembered there was a Fresh Market close by, which I thought would probably be not quite as insane. In my mind I think of Fresh Market and Whole Foods as being similar (you know overpriced fancy foods and all), but I had not actually been to Fresh Market in several years and when I did, that was the Cary location. I was right, the store wasn't very crowded... hardly any-one in there. I wasn't very impressed with their selection of meats /produce and easy to fix food items as compared to Whole Foods and the Fresh Market employees looked and acted like the human equivalent of "Grumpy Cat" (They simply did not want to be there). The employees at WF may be hippies, but at least they are happy hippies who like working there. Fresh Market, you are no Whole Foods! read more

I REALLY want to be able to leave a good review, because the Cameron Village Fresh Market is the closest grocery store to my house downtown. Today will be my last attempt to buy groceries there, though. My last 3 trips there, including today, the store has not had 1 critical item on my grocery list in stock. Today, I went for three things: cabbage, marinara sauce and baking soda. There was no baking soda. They even checked the stock room and there was none. Last trip, I needed veggies, chicken, black beans and cilantro. There was no cilantro. The trip before that....no almond milk. I really would understand if I was searching for exotic ingredients, and I really do enjoy their wine selection with staff recommendations. Unfortunately, my last few trips have required me to follow up at another grocery store From now on, I'll be heading straight to Harris Teeter, Whole Foods or Trader Joe's to avoid the frustration and hassle of the ingredients I'm after not being in stock. I'm disappointed because I really wanted Fresh Market to be my "go to" grocer since I live so close to the store. read more

Lately, Whole Foods can't seem to decide whether it wants to be the organic/mainstream supermarket solution or the organic/gourmet market, they are trying to cover too much ground. Fresh Market knows who their audience is..me. I don't find Fresh Market prices to be out of line at all for the selection, service and pleasant ambiance they have created in a trip to the store. The produce is well displayed with a great variety of stuff. Great deli/wine selection and the ziplocked spices they have for 1.99 ( When all you need is a teaspoon of turmeric for one night) are awesome. read more

I love the Fresh Market!! If you're looking for flowers, desserts, or fresh seafood, this is the best supermarket in town. You can get a bouquet of a dozen roses any day of the week for $8.99 and they will outlast a bouquet bought at Harris Teeter or the florist even without the little powdered flower-food packet. Their desserts are phenomenal, I freely admit when I have company over I will take the slacker's way out and run to FM for some miniature cheesecakes or some freshly-baked cookies. They have the freshest-tasting tuna steaks I have found in Raleigh, outside of restaurants. The place is always perfectly clean, smells great, and well stocked. The staff is all friendly and helpful, and the bakery ladies are always ready to hand out cookies to children. I'm only giving four stars because some of their dry goods prices are more expensive than some other chains, but that's not what I shop there for, so only one star off. read more

Stopped by here the other day while in the Cameron Village area to get a sandwich from the meat counter to-go. The buffalo chicken sandwich is really big! I ate half before getting full and ate the rest for lunch the following day. It came with a ton of blue cheese crumbles, which I like, but wish it was more of a blue cheese sauce, as it left the sandwich a little dry. I love the bulk bins in the store as well. I had to have some cherry yogurt covered pretzels. I wouldn't come here to do my typical grocery shopping instead of Whole Foods, though, because it's more expensive and I don't prefer it to Whole Foods (or Trader Joe's). read more

I love coming here when I have nothing in particular to buy.... For me, this is a great place to wander and see what they have. It is small and rather 'boutique' so if you have a long list of particulars this may not be the right place for you. It's also on the pricey side...even more expensive than Whole Foods in my opinion. I find myself picking up random stuff that I wouldn't necessarily have been looking for - just because.... My favorites here: Coffee!! They have an amazing selection of pre-packaged and loose whole bean. My favorite recent find is their whole bean pumpkin coffee - so good. Wine!! I love that their wine selection includes your 'not so usual' finds. They even have a 'staff's selection', which is typically reserved for fine wine shops - really loving that personal touch. Samples!! They almost always have a bite of something or other upon check-out. Last time it was a bite of apple pie, yum. Other great spots here include their bread section, veggie/vegan section, and floral section. All in all, I really like it, but prefer Trader Joe's and Whole Foods....it's definitely worth checking out though! read more

This FM is in a great spot! If you are headed to a dinner party and need to pick up dessert....BAM! Fresh Market. Dinnertime and no ideas? BAM! This is not a place where you're going to get everything to fill the pantry. HT is less than a couple blocks for that kind of action. Every Tuesday you can buy hormone-free goody good meats for super cheap. I stock my freezer regularly. If I don't feel like cooking, I can grab a few items from the deli counter or a salad right up until closing time. (If you're cool, you may get a couple extra hot wings at the end of the night...because who else is going to eat wings at 9 PM?) There are a lot of other things they put on sale that ends up cheaper than even Food Lion! Keep your eyes open and take time to stroll around that Fresh Market! The flowers are always top-notch and reasonably priced. There may even be a wine tasting somewhere in the store. read more

I'm all about this market. I stepped in for the first time and all my senses went to overload. Saw a bin of pistachios to my right, quaint candy jars to my left, and a little further ahead, all sorts of yummy prepared food. The salad was a bit expensive but worth it for the huge portion. When I was in high school, I worked at the Cameron Village Public Library. It was always a special treat to go down there and pick out a nice snack for my break. My favorites were a pint of Ben and Jerry's or their crab dip with crackers. Seven years later, the Fresh Market still has some of the best crab dip around, but I don't look at it the same way. It is small and a lot of their selection is stuff you can easily find at normal groceries stores now. Their gift baskets / floral section is nice, but I was surprised at how skimpy their produce was. Harris Teeter, just a couple of blocks away, has a larger and fresher looking selection for cheaper. For the gourmand, the Whole Foods down the street trumps it in all other ways - it's just bigger, more spacious, cleaner and with more variety. PROS: sentimental memories, crab dip, sooo much crap dip, gift baskets ++, pretty flowers. CONS: in the shadow of big brother Whole Foods, not as much selection, overpriced without any special reason to be. read more

The Fresh Market is my favorite Triangle grocery store. Their location in Cameron Village is quite convenient and parking is generally easy. They have a great meat counter with knowledgeable and helpful butchers. If you don't see something in the case, just ask and they will likely be able to cut it for you. Their prices are in line with their competitors. They usually have a good selection of fresh fish and their pre-made salads are excellent. Try the broccoli slaw with cranberries ..ummmm. They have a small but, serviceable wine selection and a few local beers. The staff is unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Stop in when you're in the area. Be warned tho, the bakery counter is mighty tempting! read more
