So sad to see this Aldi go downhill. Moldy produce, rotten fish not kept cold enough. It's poorly managed, price gouging or checkout needs help as I had multiple errors on prices at check out - tip: check your receipt to make sure you aren't being over charged. Today I was over charged on 6 items. That total came to $30 that they owed me back in fraudulent charges 'not updated' in their system. But I defer to the employees who follow protocol in politeness but could not give a damn about the store or customers... I heard employees talking loudly about how they love when customers don't ask or take their receipts bc they somehow collect points or coupons as one said he scored a "$100 gift card" through his personal joy of seeing a customer misplace it. Also disturbing: mid afternoon on a Saturday I spotted mold growing on the supposed fresh produce...all over the zucchini in plastic wrap - see photo. That mold was growing for days. Also let them know all of their Salmon was bad - I'm talking warm, not even cold, very squishy in texture (rotted) and smelled bad. They said they would take care of it, but that was horrifying. I'll never buy produce here again. Wouldn't trust the meat either. Lastly I was frustrated bc Mgmt took 25 minutes to work out the 6 items I was overcharged on. ALDI - Moldy produce everywhere - Grocery Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

For me, Aldi is that step down from the larger neighborhood grocery stores, plus lower prices which I can never complain about. I'am always grateful to have one of these within my neighborhood because I can find the typical things that I normally purchase from a supermarket, plus it's a much more relaxed environment compared to the larger supermarkets. As for this location it's no different than any other Aldi locations throughout the city, and It serves the same purpose and the prices are no different. I haven't been let down yet when I visit this location because I can always find the foods that I eat and crave, so I cannot complain. Luckily, if there are any issues there is a slightly larger grocery store named 'Market Fresh Foods' that sits right next door. Lastly, my recommendation is that if you have one of these in your neighborhood, use it! Plus bring your own bag or you will be limited to their selection of bags, which cost! I recently moved to where this Aldi is the closest grocery store in my neighborhood. I seriously could not find anything on my shopping list. The Aldi Layout is completely opposite of what a normal grocery should be. "Shop the perimeter!" should be one's mantra; shopping mainly in the produce aisles, dairy, deli, and avoiding the processed foods in the middle of the grocery. Well, Aldi flips that layout entirely by putting all of the processed foods on the perimeter, and puts the miniscule produce section (I don't think there was even a non-packaged lettuce option) as an after thought in the middle of the store. It's pretty difficult to not like Aldi from the price points on staples and more. This is the closest to me of all locations and despite its less than glamorous surroundings, it's AGitN imo. While it is probably the same size as most Aldi's, it does appear to be a bit smaller, though the layout is the same. Gallon of Arizona iced tea, $2.50, delicious bag of jalapeno cheddar kettle chips, $1.50, bag of coffee $2, score, score, score! I'm a bargain hunter so cheap groceries are my friend. I don't see myself doing all my grocery shopping here, but this is also the same thing I say about Trader Joe's, Whole Foods (not cheap), Cermak Produce, and Dominick's. This is a good place to stop and pick up some food if you are planning on entertaining a crowd. It's not all generic food here either, I got a real box of rice krispie treats here. If you are looking for some produce, please spare yourself. The strip mall that this is located in is crawling with hoodlums. If they give you any schnazz just say "Yo, get outta my way, I gotta get me my Aldis!" Just kidding, don't really say that. But let it be known that the inside of the Aldi is a quiet and pleasant haven. And don't forget to bring your quarter for the shopping cart and some reusable bags for your groceries. Good quality food for reduced prices. Two things to know...you need a quarter to get a cart from their locked area that you get back when you return it to the locked area. They don't provide bags for your groceries. Bring your own or they sell them in the store. read more

this is the worst aldi in the city. in 2020 i was involved in THREE incident in this store over what exactly the definition of a 'line' is. one of these nearly led to violence before the offender backed down. in no case did 'security' attempt to intervene or at least summon police. it's rare to see security at this site not on their phones, sitting on counters, or macking on random shoppers like its a nightclub. produce you buy here has a shelf life of less than 24 hours- eat it today or throw it away. if you need something specific, they are going to be out of it. the employees would obviously rather be anywhere else in the world than where they are, but that is understandable. you WILL be accosted by beggars just outside the door. you WILL be overcharged for something. just not worth the fucking hassle. drive, take the bus, walk- SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

I guess this place is okay if you just need to stop and get a gallon of milk, but they only have five aisles and one person on the register. They close at 7 pm every day which is when I get home Mon-Fri, and their meat and produce is seriously lacking. Despite it being close to me, when paired against all the downsides, it's just not worth going here. The broccoli I bought was almost tasteless, and other produce prices are the same as any other Jewel Osco that has twenty times the selection, and alcohol. No thanks, Aldi. Great service, clean store, but it is not organized very well. Items are stocked in odd places. For example, chicken stock was not with the soups, Disani sparkling water was tucked away with general merchandise no where near the rest of the sparkling waters. Still, it's a fine store but the Alpine and 28th street locations are much more organized. read more

Aldis on Kedzie is a great place to shop. Low prices registers that get you in and out fast and the cashiers are. Always so polite. The shelves are well organized no pushing in the lines. Who the heck goes to Aldi thinking that it's a health/ natural foods market? No offense to Kyle at all and nothing he said is particularly wrong, but Aldi isn't the first place that jumps to mind when I'm shopping for wholesome, heart healthy foods. For anyone reading this review that wants this, I'd suggest that you check out the Whole Foods of of North Ave. All that aside, can I say that I love Aldi as a whole and this store doesn't disappoint. Despite my opening comment, I have found some awesome buys at this location: -A quart of Naked Blue Machine for less than $3.50, check. Folks, a small bottler of this stuff less than one third of this size is literally the same amount, if not MORE in some stores!. -Large container of Fage 0% Greek yogurt, double check. Finding this is like finding the Holy Grail at a Brown Elephant! The few places that do carry this brand (though the list is growing thankfully), especially out in this neck of the woods, either don't carry the 0%, runs out of the 0% quick as lightening, or only carry the smaller portions. I iz pleased and so iz my smoothie! -cheap tortilla chips. The Clancy brand of tortilla chips is, in my honest opinion, better than Tostitos and definitely cheaper. Oh, and their salsas ain't bad at all. Your party guests will be satisfied. -frozen goodies. I'm not talking about frozen dinners of the sort Kyle may rage against (I kid Kyle, I swear), but just you basic frozen corn/broccoli/strawberries/shrimp. Always cheap and tasty. Even the frozen wings are decent. Oh, and if you're ever craving a Reggio's frozen pizza, this location has them too. The breads, eggs, and dairy products aren't that bad either. The oatmeal raisin cookies in the purple packaging are addictive (and, surprisingly, actually made from oatmeal and raisins!)! Anyone who has shopped at an Aldi knows not to expect a traditional produce section or a wide range of meats, but I've done okay on both ends. Nevertheless, I prefer to get both my meats and certain veggies from Cermak Produce up the road and splurge on produce from Whole Foods ever so often. And there's some stuff I wouldn't buy here, like the pasta sauce and super cheap cold cuts/hot dogs. When it comes to Aldi's, the less processed the food is, the better chance you have of it not completely sucking. The cashiers here are nice and on two different occasions, I was given a free bag, once by a cashier and once by another customer who had brought too many. Sweet! Still, if you're new to the Aldi experience, don't forget to bring your own bag and a quarter to release a cart on bigger shopping trips. Oh, and the Aldi security guard is literally a million times nicer than the security guard at the Market Fresh security guard right next door (me no likely that store at all, but that's for another review). Yes, the area has some sketch to it, but I figure that if you're shopping here, you either live close by or frequent the area a lot. I realized after I moved that Humboldt Park has zero grocery stores. Oops. I had been to other Aldi's before, so I decided to try this one out. Judging from the crowd of people outside, I assumed it was going to be busy, hellish and picked through (especially since I went on a Saturday). I was so happy to walk into a clean, organized, well-stocked store -- and it wasn't crowded at all! They were out of a few specific items I needed, but the prices were, like all Aldi's, great -- if you don't mind buying their brands. The only reason I'm not giving more stars is there were only two checkout people and I had to wait a bit to get through the line. But, my cashier was pleasant -- much nicer than most I've had at Jewel or Dominick's. Also, like most city grocery stores, you cannot take the carts into the parking lot. If you're not familiar with Aldi, it's a chain of low-cost grocery stores that sell only one or two brands of most items. Also, you have to leave a 25 cent deposit to use a grocery cart and they don't supply free bags. read more

Aldi has some things on my weekly list that are just hands down cheaper than any other place you can go to and you still get a quality product. It's not my go to store for meat and produce but it does have good deals on Milk, butter, eggs, bottled water, etc... Like most people in Chicago, I shop at different places for different things. We figured out what we can save money on that won't compromise quality and Aldi remains on our to do list when its time to go shopping. As long as you don't make it your one stop shop it's a great store with great deals that can really help you keep your spending down. read more
