Once we got home and looked over receipt we noticed a CHARGE for a " fashion umbrella"!!!!!! We took one second to pick a brown paper bag for the groceries ( while she finished scanning out items )and only had one employee name Kiara there ringing us up! Not one of our grocery items or the lady before us items look like an UMBRELLA!!! It's disappointing bc it takes more gas $ to drive back to speak to a manager then the item charged it self !! Tried calling no phone number, no customer service and all through email.. once e-mail was sent I got a auto one stating I need to go back in store to speak to a manager!! The camera should be reviewed bc this is very upsetting to say the less! I can't imagine how many other customers who don't look over their receipt when the math ain't nothing have to deal with this type of scam !!! Located next to Petsmart on Main. Opening week so there was free reusable shopping bags and some samples. They also gave out coupons after you made a purchase. Very nice clean organized store. The shopping carts need a quarter to take out and when you bring the car back you get your quarter back. Very nice prices cheaper than the other stores. About 80% is Aldi brand and the 20% is brands. Very friendly employees. There was some very good deals with the sales. I made sure to load up on those items. Bathrooms were clean and unisex. read more

ALDI - Crazy good deal .69 Cents! - Grocery Near Me - Chula Vista, California

I'm so glad this Aldi location is finally open, because it's walking distance from my house, and so much more affordable than other grocery options nearby! This Aldi is bigger than the one on 4th Ave, so it seems to have a tiny bit more selection than its sister location, but it's still a small grocery store, and although you'll find a some brand names amongst their stock, most of the items are in-house generic brands. That means that for most items, you'll have 1-5 options, as compared to the dozens of brand/type options found in other grocery stores. They have a number of organic, gluten free, and vegetarian options, as well as a section of German foods, competitively priced meats, an aisle with inexpensive home and garden items, and a wine aisle, all within this small store. I've yet to find anything at Aldi that wasn't good, and the prices often can't be beaten, so I don't mind buying from the more limited selection. Speaking of prices, a large amount of items at Aldi hover around $2 or less, so you can find many things for $0.99 or even $0.69, making it less expensive than even dollar stores. (See the photo of my receipt for examples; I don't think anything I bought tonight cost more than about $2, save for a singe $2.99 item) I think that's fantastic, and my wallet is definitely happy. As a bonus, they're currently giving away coupons! I don't know if it's something they'll do long-term, but they mailed $5-off-of-$25 coupons to nearby residents, and when I stopped in tonight to use it, I was given a further 3 coupons (same discount) that can be used next month. Aside from that, the store (being brand new), is clean, spacious, very well stocked, and is full of very friendly employees who automatically offer help if anyone looks confused. (I was just adding up the cost of the groceries so I had enough to use my coupon, but thanks for the offers of assistance anyway, employees!) Unless there's something very specific or obscure that I have to find elsewhere, I think I'll be doing 90% of my grocery shopping here from now on. read more

I first experienced an Aldis in Pennsylvania. I wasn't fond of it because it looked plain and you had to pay for a cart. I lived in Vegas at the time which is all customer service centric so paying for a cart and bagging your own groceries didn't sound too good. When I moved back down to San Diego I decided to give it another chance. I'm so glad I did because it isn't about the presentation or the carts . It is about their products. There are a couple of items you find and never find again. Like these amazing pizza pocket pies. The cheese in those pies were restaurant quality. The garlic hummus is good not too creamy. I also found these apple blossoms (mini apple pies) amazing! Last week I found some bacon rolled scallops I can't wait to try them. I also bought some German chocolate over there. I asked my friend who grew up in Germany if the chocolate brand they sold was legit she said it was. I ended up buying some chocolate truffles, butter cookies, dark chocolate clusters. All of them were delicious!! Since Trader Joe's is a little far I come here more often and discover new cool items everytime. read more

I had been shopping at the Aldi on 4th ave in Chula Vista. Once this location opened , I began shopping here. They have good deals on most groceries, on things they don't I get it elsewhere, vons, Walmart, etc. The main issue that I have, are the employees. They suck! No customer service what so ever. The cashiers don't seem happy at their job. They should leave. They ring up your items and nearly toss them in the cart. They want you to insert your debit card, immediately. I don't . I was initially hesitant to shop at Aldi. It was a store I never heard of; however, my husband did, as they are ubiquitous in Europe. The $.25 to use a shopping cart is a practice that's been around for years. You have the same system at airports if you want a cart. I love it since it keeps the parking lot clutter free and occupying parking spaces. Sometimes people who are not familiar with this approach are hesitant when I hand them a quarter for their cart...lol Anyway, the other day I purchased 3, LED all in one desk lamp for $19 (it was originally $17) with calendar, clock, temperature display, USB ports, etc. You can buy the exact same thing, actually slightly smaller at Home Depot for $60 for one desk lamp. This is just an example, but I have noticed how affordable produce/products are compared to other discount stores. Everything seems fresh, quality is excellent, the price is exceptional, aisles are wide, the store is clean, checking out is swift, parking is trouble-free. read more

Okay, so if you're a mom who takes her little ones shopping this review is for you. 1. You have to have a quarter handy if you want a shopping cart. Sure, when you're done shopping and you put your card back you get your quarterback. But when you have three little monkeys running around not only is finding a quarter hard, but taking the time to return the cart to get a quarterback can be a challenge. Not impossible though, just a factor. 2. Actually the whole shopping cart thing sucks. When you go through the checkout they start putting your things into a different cart and you have to bag yourself off to the side after you check out. That leads to more time where your kids can run around and be crazy while you're trying to get something done. I'm never a fan off that. 3. The first three out of four times that I went to the store something rang up incorrectly. Not only is it a pain in the butt to try to read how they are ringing things up, the cashiers are always in such a rush that they don't like rechecking the prices for me. But when you're trying to save money every dollar counts! And they did fix it each time. 4. Back to the cashiers. They are always in a rush! I asked one of the cashiers about it and she told me that they are timed from when they start an transaction until the end. So if you haven't decided about items, or if you want to add things or put things back, it's always an aggravation to the cashiers. Sure they're nice, but they're being timed on how fast they are so they look bad if they have to wait for you to do something 5. you'll rarely find name brands. Yes that saves money, but sometimes the name brands are better (I'm thinking ziplock here!). I'm not crazy about the store, but I will go if I'm in a pinch and need one or two items. Aldi!!! Why are you not responding to your customer reviews? Many are telling you about the horrible service and I totally agree. Snotty,rude and uncaring the way they treat you. Everytime I come here there is only one cashier with at least 8 people in line. Why does the management hide in that box office? Only one time a supervisor came out to help for a minute and she also had a snotty look on her face and was very rude!! I guess she was mad because she had to come out of the box. Truth is I love this store but if you don't do something about your staff, managers and all, I will not be shopping here!! I don't mind the quarter for the cart as it keeps the parking lot clean and I don't have to worry about a cart being in the parking space. This Aldi location is finally open and parking is plentiful. Most stock items are generic brands which makes prices reasonable. The wine section is pretty good for the size of the store. You can find organic, gluten free, and vegetarian / vegan options. You will also find that the meats are competitively priced. The store was very clean, aisles were spacious and well stocked. Customer service was great and I hope it continues to be excellent. To attain a shopping cart, you need to insert a quarter. Once you return your cart you get your quarter back. This location almost never have products advised . Last week they advertised 2 types of double seated swings. I was at this location the 1st sale day when store opened . No swings went back to this location and the location on 4th st. 3 times no swings. Went back to main st. location today to get rain check and clerk with store manager???? This is my local Aldi, so Im here every week! Staff is nice when they want to be, I've experience both sides... today I was getting a different assortment of ice cream and popsicles and a large package of paper towel, as I was checking out the conveyor belt kept rolling and all the items were piling up and falling off the counter (I thought they can stop this belt whenever they want?!) the cashier looks at me and says "probably should've put the large item at the back" as stuff continue to fall down on her side... I replied "you started rolling it while I was putting things up" and she replied "no no, not me" question: WHY ARE YOU LETTING THE CUSTOMERS ITEMS FALL TO THE GROUND?!?!?! Why not catch it? Or stop the belt from rolling?! It was on her side, I couldn't catch it! She literally just watched my things fall to the ground beside her! I don't understand the lack of customer service skills! I have been coming here more often during the afternoon for some snacks. I believe this market is a European-Mediterranean​ market hearing from one of the cashiers. It's clean and organized, not to mention well stocked. It mostly includes generic brands from what I notice which comes in great deals. They have sparkling flavor water for just 79 cents, which is inexpensive from 90% of the stores and just tastes great. Whenever we are in the area, we go over to Aldi. It is nothing but clean and cheap. This place doesn't have crowds so you can zip in and zip out. This place has an awesome selection. But the thing is about Aldi is the brands look like a rip off brand. They call "cheerios" "Crispy Oats." But who cares! It tastes the same at least. The staff is nice and it all but the lines are long. There is about 15 lanes with only one open. Beware, you have to bag your own items they won't bag it for you. You also have to use a quarter to use the shopping cart. This place replaced Target which that one opened in the 80s. This place is really in a good and a bad location because this place has so many places next to it. This store is absolutely fantastic!! I can fill my entire trunk full of groceries and goodies for a family of four for about 100-120$. We used to shop at Ralph's or Vons and would spend on average 100$ more. Some of the fruits and veggies are hit or miss but for the most part have had great luck with them. It's up there with a lot of the major grocery stores. They have lots of varieties of wine, produce and your usual products that you find. At vons, ralphs and food for less. I've been to the On on north 4 ave a few times. This is my first time at this location. Overall it's a good store and not too crowded. Good prices and the parking is good too. The greeters in the front of the store were very nice. They were giving away Reusable shopping bags and letting customers have the carts to use without the quarter deposit today. The aisles were very organized, and it was neat how they merchandised their end cap displays. I like the impulse items that they had at the checkout line, just wish it was merchandised a bit higher on a stand to make it easier to shop the product. To wrap things up, the store environment was happy and customers were enjoying themselves. I would have given them 5 stars, but the lady with the electric pallet jack almost ran over a bunch of customers myself included. Great store, can't wait to go back! read more

My family and I usually go to this place to get last-minute items since it's very centric for us. We always have a great experience, usually, there are little-to-no people when we go, that is why I decided to go today. IT WAS A MESS. First of all, I believe there were corporate members at the store, so all employees were all over the place trying to get work done at the same time. There were employees unloading boxes of products almost in every aisle, making it hard for customers to move around with their carts. Secondly, there was an employee maneuvering a machine that cleaned/waxed floors. I don't think they saw me standing there, and I also did not notice them doing their work. They didn't even bother to say "excuse me," which was extremely rude as they got in front of me while I tried to pick out my products. Lastly, ONE cashier open? Come on. I love this store. I used to go to the one near the 54 but this one is way closer and I'm so happy they opened up. The last time I went I mentioned to the cashier that a price was wrong the last couple time I purchased the product and she quickly made it right. And if you don't have one the friendly cashiers will let you borrow one. The quality is so good. And every Wednesday they change what they have in the floor room. I had a very unpleasant experience at my visit today with a cashier Yasmeen. I don't frequent this store so I didn't know that I needed to move my cart next to the cashier to get processed and I just left my cart by me after placing my items. Yasmeen told me, "Can you move your cart here?" So I asked my 9 years old daughter who was by my side to move the cart by Yasmeen. She started placing my purchase to the cart as she processed my purchasee and gave me a receipt. As I was walking toward the counter to bag my items, she said, "the cart stays here." I got confused because I knew I needed to bring my cart to where I grabbed by the door before entering the store to get my quarter back. She then continued, "Are you just gonna bag there?" I had no idea what she was saying, but I went ahead and bagged my items and started walking toward the door. Yasmeen said, "The cart stays here." I responded to her, "I need to get my quarter back." She said, "But the cart is not yours though." At which point, I was quite annoyed so I told her back with a strong tone of voice, "it is" and walked out. I felt quite humiliated by being treated as if I was going to steal a quarter when I made sure I had quarters with me before coming to this store. In fact, she was the one who instructed me to move "MY CART" to her side, and a few seconds later she completely forgot that my daughter moved my cart from my side to hers? She must've been daydreaming as she works. The worst part is that she never even said sorry. It's o.k. to make mistakes or forget, but if you know you made a mistake, at least you acknowledge the mistake and apologize? To me, that's the basic manner as a human and very simple but important skills especially for a customer service rep. I don't know if a lot of people are trying to bring unattended cart outside to get a quarter or what, which I don't believe, but I would never claim the cart as mine if I didn't pay to bring it in to this store. I love going to Aldi ever since they opened one here in San Diego. When I heard they opened this 2nd location and it was a bit closer to my bf's house, I got excited! The customer service from the first Aldi is so friendly and helpful but unfortunately it is not the same here. I've been here about 5 times and have gotten really bad customer service 2 or 3 times. I know they only have a handful of employees working at a time and the customers do the packing of groceries. My worst experience was when I was at checkout, the cashier was in a rush, as they all are since there is usually only 1. I had my cart, but she started to put my groceries in the cart of the person in front of me..while that customer was still taking his stuff out of the cart! So i pushed my cart aside to use the new one. As she was finishing up putting my groceries in.. She told me, not even politely ask, to grab a cart to use for the next customer. I felt like i was being demanded. I felt like an employee at the store. The cashiers at the other Aldi have never asked to do this, they would just grab it themselves. I wouldn't have minded at all to do it, if she had asked nicely and if she had greeted me nicely in the beginning. It may have been an off day for her, but my encouters with other cashiers there were not as pleasant either. They don't seem as happy or friendly compared to the other Aldi. There is such a huge difference in customer service. Please fix this! As for now, i will only continue to go to the 4th Ave Aldi. read more
