I've been coming to Ralph's for the past 15 years. It takes ONE manager to bring down the quality of customer service! I arrived at 12:54 am to make a quick run for water. I noticed the doors were already locked but the sign says 1am. Ray, the night manager comes out and says they're closed. Uhhhhhh your hours outside say otherwise. In a disrespectful, ghetto manner, flashes his watch that says 12:54 in neon green lights, and keeps repeating they're closed. I asked him, so the sign outside says 12:54 am is their closing hours? He used his large body to hover over the door and tower over me and say we're closed in a disrespectful way. Im a petite woman in her late 40's; that could make someone feel a little threatened. My 11 year old daughter saw his demeanor and picked up on how rude this guy was and told me to leave necause she didnt feel safe. What's worst is that he is the MANAGEMENT!!!! Oh my, oh my where is the etiquette, the courtesy to apologize and say they closed early or that the registers closed at a certain time? I love Ralph's product quality, enough to drive across town, but the management with Ray at night was absolutely disdainful and left a bad impression.This guy was straight up rude and had the audacity to get in my face to say we're closed with a smirk, belittling me. No, no, no. That's not how you treat others. Manager Alejandra, if you read this, dont kill your customer service to save a buck. Its not worth it. Get Ruben back at this store. It thrived before all the way until closing. These people are probably not paid enough. This review is for the sushi department only. I have a separate one for the store experience. The lady making the sushi is always friendly and very careful when handling the food. She always greets you and says thank you when you grab some sushi to purchase. I like that you're able to see how she assembles everything together and puts it on a tray to go. They have chopsticks, napkins and soy sauce available on the side. When I want a quick lunch/snack, I come here for the affordable and fresh sushi. I think the store is excellent and i usually do not have any issues when I buy items there. However I do not like the fact that Street venders posing as "Workers or volunteers for high school sports, or feeding the homeless. As soon as you leave the store, they try to get your attention , if you say NO thank you, they talk behind your back. Can Ralph's Management prevent these so called "Volunteers" to stop asking for money from customers? I work hard and I have the right to refuse them, but I will not be mocked because I will not give someone I do not know a few dollars. read more

Kenia is amazing! She deserves a promotion! I just love this store and my interaction with Kenia yesterday just solidified that! The customer service at this location is wonderful, from the sushi chefs (awesome family) to the Starbucks Baristas to the Deli to the cashiers - it's just a great vibe all around! Kenia saw me struggling yesterday while holding sushi (gotta love the Friday special) and trying to grab a pack of La Croix. I told her I didn't plan on shopping but just thought of more items I needed! She says "that is what we want at Ralph's, let me give you this basket so you can do more shopping" I began to tell her that I used to work for Ralph's as a bookkeeper back in 1999 in Orange County. I love my local Ralphs on Palomar Street. They always have great deals with their weekly digital coupons. I literally know everyone because they're so friendly, nice and helpful. I go there like five times a week and just get fresh food and then cook it right away. I love it there because you feel like you're shopping in a clean environment without a lot of chaos and it's very well organized. Pro tip look for Manager special tags on things and you'll save a ton of money or the sale rack in the back always has great stuff on it. Honestly happy shopping everyone. read more

Every single time, and i mean, every single time for the last ten years that i been coming to this location do I get snarky/ passive aggressive remarks from these employees to no end. From the older lady forcing me to use their conveyer belts in self check-out, to the guy demanding me to download their app to get their discount, to that loud lady that yells all day every time i walk in, never any carts available because they haven't been collected, i cant help but keep coming back to this dreadful place. I love coming to the East Palomar Ralph's location. They always have the best produce and very good quality meats. I am notoriously doing pickups (as I have small children and a very busy schedule, much more convenient) I always receive great custom service. In the rare event my order is running behind the store will reach out and notify me by phone, (which is better than by app which a notification may be missed). If I have ever had any problems with orders the store manager is always prompt to reach out and correct the issue without any hesitation. Service was just rude, at 4:00 afternoon on Tuesday the 2nd on June I went to shop the self check out became annoying cause the system is so sensitive everything you scan and put down it tells you that it's not scanned okay whatever I guess, I went to the cashier the one right in front of the booze the young lady with the brown hair black long sleeve l asked how are you she completely dismissed that kept looking around then asked if I wanted bags I said no. then boom she starts scanning my stuff quick as hell and I'm just at the end like you wasn't even scanning the person in front of me stuff this quick she looks around again and I'm guessing she sees her work husband and she's just cheesing her butt off I'm looking around cause girl who are you looking at and trying to be quick for ? The saving grace is this stunning pre made bouquet. The bad part was that my boyfriend pre ordered me a bouquet to surprise me with for my birthday and even received a confirmation email from Ralph's, only to arrive and be told there was no record of the order. The lady in the floral department was unsympathetic and rude. My boyfriend even explained this is for a birthday, the floral lady never once apologized or offered to remake it as quickly as she could. Writing this review as I leave the store because of the amount of gratitude I have for Mickey. it's Easter and my nephew's birthday, we scrambled for an hour to find a place to that will inflate balloons for us. Mickey was extremely kind to assist us even after their flower center was closed and got us out in time to make our dinner! This review is for their Pharmacy: Overall They were quick and attentive. I had never felt rushed or looked over. Alvin processed my insurance and flu shot info incredibly fast. Dr. Dave took over for the injection part and I barely felt it. The shot was gentle and way easier than any other flu shot I've received. He was informative and calm. The pharmacy staff were all hospitable and friendly. The last time I got a flu shot was by a nurse who stabbed me like I was the new girlfriend to her ex boyfriend. Dr. Dave gives shots like if he knew I had been through a lot and didn't want the experience to be dreadful. Lol Please go here for your pharmacy and immunizations. You won't regret it.. read more

After frequenting this ralphs for years i have never experienced unprofessionalism as i witnessed today. My aunt was simply asking the butcher if he had any other rib eyes in the back and he was short with her. But he had no problem greeting a customer he recognized and began to stop what he was doing to chat it up. My aunt stayed close by the meat section and waited around looking at the sales/signs and he said "HOLD ON, IM STILL MOVING" was that even necessary? Upon checking out my aunt brought it to the attention of a female cashier and she basically shrugged it off, dismissing her, proceeding to check out. I've been trying to get in contact with some type of manager to escalate this to and make aware however, the number i got has been ringing with no answer. My in-laws recommended Ralph's in Chula Vista to obtain the family's annual flu vaccine shots. The process here was seamless and organized. Our insurance covered the entire vaccinations for free. Kudos to the staff in the pharmacy. They were very professional and accommodating. Jamie was amazing and she had entered all of our information in the system. Jin the doctor on duty was great. We were done with the whole process in no time. Now we just hope that we got the right vaccine and not get the flu this year. read more

Ralph's is my go to grocery store if. It the commissary. This location is right outside my house so it's super convenient. They normally have everything I need and rarely are they out of stock. The staff here are all friendly and professional. I have not ran into any unprofessional employees. Parking is huge too because it's in a little shopping area with restaurants and a CVS next door. As far as grocery stores go. I have to say that Ralph's really is in the lead. They have a great selection of products, wine and beer that far surpasses the other stores. They have wine glasses and other stuff that is perfect for a last minute gift or a dinner invitation gift for the hostess. The only reason they did not get 5 stars is because we ordered a couple of deli sandwiches for a picnic at Shelter Island and the deli worker who will remain nameless forgot the cheese and made the sloppiest sandwiches ever. But no, you must scan the teeny tiny QR code at the bottom right corner in order to get the advertised price. Really unfair asking the shopper to do even more when I already have the rewards card and spending my hard earned money in your store. I got my receipt and saw that I had paid $9.00 for blueberries when the should have been $4. I politely asked a clerk on the way to the door for some assistance and she said you have to scan the code to get the advertised price. For the last few years and especially now, Ralphs has had below average customer service. Long lines, slow personnel (with some exceptions), and sky rocketing prices. Today, they were so understaffed the lines were into the aisles, and I even saw a young man run out of the store with liquor sounding the alarm. I recently placed an order with the bakery for a sheet cake for my daughter's birthday. I was in the area the night before her party to see if I can add something on the cake. When I got there and asked about my order, they couldn't find the ticket. They offered to leave a message for the person who took the order and I recommended to make a new ticket to make sure the cake would be ready for the party the next day. Unfortunately the day of I was not there to pick up the cake but I assumed my requests were honor especially since it was discovered the first cake order disappeared. When I finally saw the cake it was everything opposite of my requests. It was very upsetting and disappointing. Although everyone said the cake was delicious it really bummed me out that even though I was understanding and willing to work with the bakery I was still left with a disappointing experience. read more

Love grocery shopping here! Love coming after 9pm & getting the "Manager special" in the meat & chicken area. The whole staff that I've delt with are friendly & helpful. It's always clean & nice in here unlike Walmart! I rather come here then Walmart! Going to Walmart is like going to a Swapmeet in the hood I hate it. I don't care if the prices are cheaper at Walmart I still rather Grocery Shop at Ralph's. Their fruits & veggies are always fresh & the area is clean & organize unlike Wal Marts which is dirty & a hot mess! And Ralph's actually has a lot of items that costs less then it does at Walmart, true story. Try their meat/fish section, they actually fry fish for you for free if you ask them! They also got a Starbucks inside & a pretty good deli area with a good hot fresh Chicken Tortilla soup to go. Might not be 24 hours but they do stay open till midnight which is pretty good. Lines might take a bit long sometimes but not that bad. But no matter what I still love doing my grocery shopping at Ralph's & especially this one then any other Ralph's! This store is so poorly managed. There are seldom baskets (carts) available and when they are they are most likely full of dirty papers or the wheels don't work properly. Inside it only gets worse, they are always stocking and customers often have to turn around because the isle is totally blocked and if the stockers are not blocking customers' path then the oversized displays are there to assure you can not get through. I have traded at this store for years and have witnessed its decline but now it to a point I have been shopping more often at another store. It is sad but what is a customer to do! These problems that are easily spotted if the managers were to ever do a walk through of their store. Management 101! read more
