If you are in the north side of Downers Grove checkout this Aldi. This is my go to milk, eggs, butter and veggies.

I have gone here for over 20 years, and during most visits I have not been treated well. The ladies have been unhelpful, or closed-mouthed when answering my questions, and just simply unfriendly. Perhaps they are just over-worked or tired. At least that's how I justified their off-handed treatment of me, and my continued patronage over the years. So I put up with a fleeting moment of mistreatment. But today, that same old bad attitude appeared after I asked a simple question during my visit, that could've been answered more directly & easily. I questioned myself why do I even bother, especially when their produce isn't superior to other places I can go, to get farm fresh produce. There are more farmer's markets around, such as McDonald's Farm at Knoch Knolls Park in Naperville. Maybe my visits were wrapped in (wannabe) nostalgia, or due to convenience of location. Whatever, today I hit the top of my tolerance for their rude-ish treatment. This decision should have been made after an earlier visit this summer when a cashier looked at me crazy because I did not leave an electronically-produced request for a tip. For what?? Standing there just doing your job ringing up an order??? And lastly, their produce isn't the tastiest, and is really overpriced in comparison to other places around. I guess I kind of felt sorry & wanted to support the place. But no more. I am finally done. Fed up and moving on. Mayneland Farm is no longer an option for me.

Numerous times, I have caught them overcharging and quoting weights that were larger than what it was. I stopped going to their questionable integrity. Thankfully, there are many other farmers in the area that I prefer to support. One of them is certified organic.

I go to the farm for pickup every week, and I love the variety, that I can pick and choose between over a dozen different herbs and veggies, the extras they often have, the UPick tomatoes and beans and etc. It's also such a relief to know where my food is coming from, that there are no chemical fertilizers or pesticides in it, that it's not downwind a feedlot so no chances of salmonella outbreaks in their leafy greens, that it hasn't been sprayed to ripen -- the peace of mind itself is invaluable. They have three seasons (spring, summer, and fall) that you can sign up for (that often sell out early, especially the summer season), as well as Thursday farmstands in the afternoon. Also, at the beginning of May they sell seedlings, with prices cheaper than The Growing Place, and most of the plants I buy from there thrive in my garden with no additions required (I put compost in the hole and around the base when I first plant them, mulch around the seedlings, and that's pretty much it, by mid-July I'm getting more tomatoes and basil and etc than I know what to do with).

Beyond the outstanding customer service, the shop itself is charming and beautifully curated. From exceptional olive oils and balsamics to spices, gourmet foods, and hot chocolate mixes, there's always something new to discover. Michelle is incredibly knowledgeable and loves sharing recipe ideas and pairing suggestions, and I appreciate that you can sample many of the products before buying. There are so many different olive oil and balsamics that it can be hard to choose, but I love that Michelle often has samples prepared of interesting ways to use the unique flavors. My husband and I have visited several times, and every visit has been warm and welcoming. If you're looking for high-quality products and genuinely exceptional service, I can't recommend Olive 'n Vinnie's enough!

What really sold me is the outstanding customer service only second to the verity of products the shop stocks. What great experience! The new owners, Michelle and her husband, since January 1st, 2026 will gain your respect and you will continue to patronize this shop. The store is jammed packed with infused olive oils and accompanied items. It does make it a bit difficult to navigate in a wheelchair and browse even tho they have a wheelchair ramp inviting the mobility challenge into an array of wonderful smells. Don't let this deter you. Michelle made note and said she will work on modifications to floor plan for inclusion of this demographic. This is why you shop a small business over a big box store.
