Didn't get past the front door. Was walking in to pick up groceries for food prep... an elderly gentleman is just sitting in the amigo in the entrance struggling to get it to work, the amigo is dead and does not seem to be charging. So I tell the man to hang on a second and I politely waited for the cashier to acknowledge me, she looked up between customers and I let her know what was happening, "Well then it's dead." Very short, which... ok fine she's working. I explained that yes maybe but it also does not seem to be taking a charge. She grabs her radio calls someone and says nothing else to me. I smile, say thank you and go back to the gentleman in the entrance. A man comes out and says something comes up and rips the plug out of the wall. So I say, "It was not plugged in when I came in, I plugged it in for him but does not seem to be taking a charge." His response, "Well did you try the one outside?" And goes out to get it. When he came back I tried to thank him but he plopped it in front of us and just speed walked away. I understand being busy but damn, take a second to make sure your customers are able to shop. This place is great! We started shopping here a few years ago and the stock and food quality is consistently good! Not to mention the prices! It's a bit strange going from a traditional market to a smaller place like this but we're used to their process now! You have to bring your own bags and they charge for a cart so bring a quarter for the cart. We get their ribeyes they are very inexpensive but very delicious! They also have turmeric shots that are tasty and clearly good for the body! This place is great for anyone in the area read more

I was wondering when this location opened so I started reading the initial reviews from 2019, and really, 1-star reviews because you didn't know about The ALDI Way with quarters? Wow. My home ALDI store is the Clawson one, which has been recently renovated, and this one was WAY nicer. Huge store, with not one, not two, but THREE "Aisles of Shame" (yes, I succumbed, and bought a Thyme Lemon salt grinder... Looked interesting). I was there today for some basics including almond milk, and I also grabbed a Red Bag Chicken, although it's now up to $7.99 a bag (used to be $5.99 a few years ago...). The frozen "special buys" section always has interesting stuff too, I bought some chicken potstickers and they also had soft pretzels, from their German-inspired collection, and buffalo chicken pizza. Only negative was that my boyfriend wanted me to pick up some coffee creamer and they were out of that completely. Also, since Orchard Lake Rd is completely torn up right now, there's only one entrance and exit - you have to actually pass the building and then enter at the far end of the plaza. Other than that, I definitely will be returning to this ALDI when I'm in the area, as it was huge and super nice. read more

I don't know what was up with my cashier but my experience made my blood boil. Even days after reflecting on it. Everyone makes mistakes. I did in this instance. I was grabbing a few snacks for a bride so my mind was going a mile a minute. I didn't realize that the cashiers light was off when I put everything down on the conveyor belt. He didn't say anything until I was literally next in line when he rudely said to the next guest that if they could notice that their light was off. And thus he glared at me. I was going to grab my 4 items, and take them to the next register but he already started scanning. When I paid and he gave me my receipt, I knew an apology was due so I said word for word "I'm sorry I didn't notice your light was off before I set my things down. My apologies". Bro didn't smile. Didn't acknowledge what I said. He just glared at me. Handed my receipt then walked away. Geez you didn't even have to ring me up. But just friggin accept my apologies. I don't know why you had such a bad day but it was totally unnecessary to pass that attitude to me. It set me off for a few hours before I helped plan a wedding but it was fine. I will think otherwise when I see a man with a beanie on at checkout here. Freaking rude as hell. read more

This location has a huge footprint and a pretty open floorplan given the space. It's definitely nice for social distancing and they have all the ALDI items you're looking for. I felt they had a little more wine and beer than the others I've been too also. A clean and inviting store with a friendly staff to go along with it. read more

Lots of construction going on around this store, but it's still in a great location. Store is quite clean, staff is quite friendly and they have a fine selection of food, beer and wine. I took off a point as none of my sale items rang up as being on sale and made the checkout process more time consuming than it should. Otherwise, great lil Aldi. read more

It's inflammatory and inaccurate to give this place a one star review. It's by far the cleanest, best-stocked, cheapest market around: including a wide range of gluten free, lactose free or other specialty diet foods. The staff had always been courteous , hard-working and informative, as opposed to cashiers in other large markets in my experience. I see these people cleaning, stocking shelves and working the registers so I can't agree that they "do nothing", it's very insensitive to say. I've never had the issues regarding carts or bottle return, in fact, it's been always above expectations. I'm not saying the other reviewers experience is invalid, but I also think it doesn't warrant tanking the review all the way down to one star. For reference I shop here a lot (2x per week on average) and I feel like I have plenty of data to work with. Do bring your own bag! :) read more

I've been shopping at this location since they opened. I have never, ever had a problem with this store. Every staff member has been extremely kind and helpful. The store is very well-stocked, very clean, and the layout is simple to find what you need. I knocked 33% off of my grocery bills in 2019 by shopping mostly at Aldi. Even though part of their concept is carrying minimal brands, there is always a great selection of things that I'd never expect to find at a "grass roots" grocery store: Deli meats and cheese, produce, frozen foods, home and garden supplies. Still, we like to have a few things that they don't carry, so I occasionally go to Kroger or Meijer to get those few things: kale, parsley, larger selection in Asian condiments and ingredients. But every time I find myself at Kroger and Meijer and I'm about to pick up something that I could get cheaper at Aldi, I stop myself. My hard-earned money is worth more to me than that. The real reason for my review was shopping on the morning of Good Friday during the COVID-19 quarantine. This was the day after the Governor extended the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order to the end of April. I had to get some groceries before the weekend, so I went out to Aldi before they opened. I am so grateful and amazed at how these selfless, kind, and hard-working employees really, really know their stuff. They worked HARD to maintain the social distancing requirements laid out by the government. They sanitized carts, they posted signage around the store encouraging customers to use the "one way" aisles for now, they placed 6-foot markers on the floor and on the conveyor belts next to the cashiers. With dignity and respect, they repeated themselves over and over to customers who were carelessly and selfishly ignoring those social distancing rules. They maintained their politeness and kindness even in the the chaos of just a *few* customers in the store causing problems by hoarding and not maintaining their distance from other customers. They put their own health and that of their families in harm's way so we could have groceries. Aldi of Farmington Hills, you were top-notch before the quarantine period. You went above and beyond yourself at the beginning of and during the quarantine. We are extremely grateful for your service and sacrifice. THANK YOU. -------------------------------------- The people complaining and giving this store a 1-star review do not understand the concept of Aldi. Three examples: 1) If you have complained that you have to "pay" for carts, did you not figure out that you put the quarter in the cart, and then, after your trip is done and you've unloaded your groceries into your car, you spend an extra 45 seconds to PUT YOUR OWN CART AWAY and get your quarter back? You didn't figure that out? Ok, I'm betting you let your mama make your bed and clean up after you too. (Grow up!) 2) You don't get bags. Hello...it's one of the ways they cut back on expenses. It's the reason why their prices are so low. Get your lazy butt some canvas bags and MOVE ON. Thank you. 3) If you are complaining about "weird brands," you're an idiot, because most of their store brands are EXACTLY the same product as the national brand. The quality is exactly the same. Please take your complaints about "paying" for a cart, not getting free bags, and "weird brands" to Kroger or Meijer, where you can pay extra money to have people clean up after you and to have a specific name on your cream cheese package. read more

This newer Aldi store is clean, has a great layout with wide aisles, and the cashiers are very friendly. Great value products at low prices. I discovered it recently and will be back shopping there. Can't believe there are so many comments about having to use a quarter for the cart or using your own bags. That is part of the reason Aldi prices are so much better than other places. And you get the quarter back and should be recycling bags anyway. Cashiers and any person I have interacted with have been friendly and courteous. Store is clean. Seems I am always finding something useful and inexpensive in their general merchandise rows. And it isn't overly crowded in there. Makes grocery shopping almost enjoyable. read more

I love this store. I don't think the people who gave it bad reviews understand the concept of Aldi. It's barebones so that prices are LOW. As a mom this is a regular store for my family. Love the crackers and cereal options. No artificial colors in them. Score! And their Aldi brand cheez its are so yummy. Especially the white cheddar. Also, love the I can get my kids crappy treat cereal (Aldi brand fruit loops and lucky charms) without breaking the budget. Aldi is a different kind of store and it did take me about 4/5 trips here to see all they have to offer. I love Aldi and will continue to give them my business. Give them a FEW tries before writing them off. They really have a lot to offer. read more

Why is Aldi so cheap they won't even hire a cart pushers? I had to walk around the store holding three boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk because I didn't have a quarter to rent a cart. Not to mention the girl behind the register was rude when I asked her if I could use one she said I had to pay for it and the one that I had right in front of me was assigned to that register. Thank you Aldi for making me pull a muscle. I will not be returning. I'd rather pay more money at Kroger then to be disrespected in that manner. All of the Aldi's I go to never clear out their bottle return machines. Then they tell you to let the cashier know how many bottles you have. This opens things up to defrauding the state. Not keeping accurate counts on bottle returns is likely a violation of a state law. read more

So grateful to have a location so close to home! If you are brand loyal, this is not the store for you. The store has a very limited inventory and generally features only one brand of any item (Burmans for condiments, Clancy's snacks, Baker's Corner for mixes/ingredients, etc). That said, the buyers do a great job working with producers to provide quality ingredients at a value. If you require a lot of attention and service while shopping, this may not be the store for you. They run with a skeleton crew and you may see the same person stocking shelves and running a register during your visit. The staff st this store is polite and professional, but they are BUSY! They hustle! Don't be turned off by getting in a long line at the register. They move really quickly, because you bag your own after! Don't forget a quarter for the cart or your own reusable bags! read more
