Our family comes here whenever we're visiting relatives nearby. It's more comprehensive than a corner store and is more like a small grocery. They have produce, meat, snacks, liquor, including local brands like Better Made Chips, Faygo and Towne Club pop, and Sanders candy and cakes! The space isn't huge, though, and on a week-end there will always be traffic jams in the aisles! Still worth a stop.

Ambiance has always stayed the same: cute, cozy, and so comfortable. Now that the booths were removed and they only have regular table seating, service is a bit different (you order at the front or at the kiosk instead of someone taking your order), but I actually love how it all works! From an operational standpoint, I feel like it actually makes things go smoother and faster. Additionally, I don't know if it's just because I haven't had their sushi in a bit, but I felt like their portion sizes actually increased slightly (which is always amazing)!! Love love LOVEEE their sushi and hearty miso soup so much. Great selection of drinks from the fridge inside, and so many vegetables, fish, snacks, and essentials (e.g., hair care, toothpaste).

The premade food choices are growing by the day. They are always adding to their offerings with new flavors and tastes. I started coming to One world market in 1997 when it was first home by a husband and wife team. It was very special at that time to have a Japanese focused grocery store and I was so happy to have one in the Novi area. This has been my go-to for decades now. When it was transitioning from private ownership to the Noble Village group, owned by True World group, there was a transitional decline, thankfully, that didn't last long and things are developing very nicely. I hear even more growth is on the horizon as they establish an even greater presence in the building next door. I am also thankful that the integrity and the high-quality is very much present and everything they do. The service is always top notch and they try to open up a lot of lanes so people get through quickly because it is busier than ever. The word is definitely out. I've seen a lot of posts on social media and it's bringing in an even greater crowds, which is fantastic! Note: the on-line ordering is also so convenient and their sushi platters are high-level!

Beautiful thing about these smaller sized Korean grocery markets is that they have mom n' pop feel…read moreto them. No, they wouldn't have as great of selections as your giant chain marts, but they have the essentials ready for the locals, and their owners are usually very friendly and helpful. When you become regulars, they're usually very good to take care of you in one manner or another. (Please note that I'm not speaking specific to Kappa only, but more in general.) As for my experience at Kappa, it was pleasant enough. Mark-ups weren't as bad as some of the other smaller places I've been to, and I loved the fact that they have house-made prepackaged food available. They also heavily advertise their banchans a lot, which is in line with most of these smaller joints. Koreans call it "son mat" which our trusty AI friend describes it like this: "Son-mat (손맛) is a Korean word that means "hand taste" and is used to describe the unique flavor that comes from a cook's skill, care, and personal touch. It can also refer to the idea of passing down the love and care that mothers put into their cooking to their loved ones." This is especially important because it's what will get your customers coming back for more. The trouble is that these smaller groceries are mainly targeted for locals nearby. I happen to live 90 minutes away, and if I have to do my quarterly Korean grocery shopping, I'm more inclined to go to a bigger chain mart, unless there's a very specific reason to pick one over the other. I would certainly recommend Kappa for people who are in the area, not looking to stock up for the next 3 months. As for me, one visit was very pleasant, but enough.

I will take better pictures next time I'm there. They have a wide beautiful assortment of nuts, fruit and vegetables. There are rices, flour and coffee k didn't know existed. I mainly go there for the vegetables. I really don't want a lot of people going, it's kind of a secret. The prices are great!

They did have some fresh produce, a tiny bit of meat and many aisles packed with food. It appears that they do plan to have a bakery area, prepared foods and meats. The reason for only 2 stores is that the prices are insanely high. Six dollars for a box of cereal? And most other goods that I see in other stores were at least a dollar more than elsewhere. But, I will say, that if you want middle eastern goods, you will undoubtedly find them here. Rows and rows of all kinds of beans and rice and lots of things I'm completely unfamiliar with. I do think they should have waited for their soft opening until they were actually more prepared for customers; they did have one checkout open, and the young man was friendly enough, but it felt eerie walking around a mostly empty store while constantly meeting paths with 3 obvious business owners who were discussing matters in their native language as they walked around with clipboards and such, taking notes and commenting on the goods (from what I could tell). It just didn't feel very welcoming at this point.
