I had a few suggestions for place that were cash only or the farmers market on saturdays.. that was fine but I wanted a place for in the middle of the week I could go grab an item or two and preferred one that credit card can be used.. found it! This is literally the most amazing store.. from melons to beans to tomatoes to local Tennessee goods. It has it all. Very cool vibe and no pressure to buy. No silly question because they answered them all. Prices were really good too. I was able to get way more things today than at the farmers market. The employees are so amazingly warm and friendly. As a transplant often people give you a vibe like ugh go away.. here they are kind and sweet. Will I be back.. yes! I bought so many goods today, but things like cheese, milk and pimento cheese are on my list for when it's a grab to take home.. today was too warm and we had other errands. Highly suggest!

I asked if it was too late to get dinner, and without hesitation, several staff members welcomed us in with big smiles and said, "not at all." That kind of genuine hospitality is rare, especially that close to closing. Brooklyn took care of us, and she was outstanding. From start to finish, she never once made us feel rushed, and neither did anyone else on staff. There wasn't even the slightest hint that they were trying to wrap things up for the night. That speaks volumes about the culture there. We've driven past this place for years saying, "we need to try it," and now our only regret is not stopping in sooner. The food was phenomenal--true Southern-style comfort food made fresh daily. I had the chicken fried steak, my wife had the pulled chicken, and my mom ordered the bologna sandwich. Every dish was spot on. My wife actually stopped in a month or two ago and has been going back every week or two since--and now I completely understand why. I loved the chow-chow sauce combined with ranch dressing on the FGT, and the salad was very creamy and tasty. I'm not a potato salad snob; I've had it done many ways and I know some prefer one style over another....all I know is this went fast. Oh, by the way, it's a BIG meal. No person should eat all of that in one setting! I nearly forgot, I loved the cheese biscuit. It was very dense and so tasty. Hard to stop eating that before I packaged up about half my meal (and enjoyed very much the next day). Amenities-- they sell beer; even though I did not have that day, I know some meals I'd have loved to add a well-priced bottle. Service was great, friendly and responsive. I like the places that let me scan a QR code to pay and tip, and they had that. Also offered lots of desserets, both at the table and with a little bakery corner when you walk in/out, so you could pick up cookies, etc. At first I thought it was a bit pricey ($17 for most meat-and-two plates), but with the quality, worth it all. Oh, I even enjoyed the clientele...this is the kind of place full of older folks, one of whom had to comment on my food as she walked out, and then she stood and chatted with me a few minutes about how good it all was. I did find the prices high, if not unexpectedly so in most cases. I did find strange variation in sale items; some were substantial discounts, while in another case I saw a roughly $8 item "on sale" for twenty cents off, which seems bordering on a sort of unethical deception. The selection of produce was not huge but looked nice; this being Knoxville they had more meat than plants it seemed. Various natural and organic brands popped up. I always try to support the local businesses and I got a few things. This does seem to have a co-op structure so locals who really want to be in regularly might consider buying in.

They also have a huge variety of grab-and-go pastas, wraps, salads, and sandwiches and a coffee bar with all the fixin's. The above is all awesome, but I head in here for the bulk items. Have a small amount of a rarely-used spice needed for a recipe? CHECK. Want to grind some fresh almond butter or coffee? GOTCHA COVERED. Dried fruits? YUP! (dried papaya are my family fave). Variety of healthy granolas, grains, and baking items in bulk, too. There is easy parking with their own little lot, friendly service, a discount membership program ($25 per year), and a punch card discount when you use reusable bags. Can't wait to come back.
