I certainly do not mind saving money on grocery shopping but had never tried Aldi's. Had read something on their steaks and figured I would give it a try. Picked up a couple of ny strips and on my way out saw a German 4 pack of beer at a very good price, so picked one up. Aldi's: A real gem of budget grocery shopping that may have singlehandedly started my enjoyment of dark chocolate and funded snacks for several huge parties on a budget with $1-3 chip and cookie bags. One of the only places left to buy reasonably priced, nut-free protein bars and protein snacks. Their seasonal releases are bangers and they run the checkout line like an oiled machine. My one comment is that I'd avoid getting avocados here.. for some reason, mine always stay way too hard even after ripening. read more

I've been to this ALDI location a handful of times and I have to be honest, shopping in store gives me anxiety. While the things that cause my angst are part of the business model that allow for such low prices, it causes me to not shop here regularly for everyday groceries. To start, you need to prepare yourself for a trip to ALDI. Get your quarter ready and your shopping bags because guess what, they don't have any unless you would like to purchase a reusable tote or pay for a paper bag. I'm here for a sustainability commitment but it is just a tad inconvenient for a last minute shopping trip. Next, inside the shelves can often heavily picked over for popular items so be prepared to pivot. Items are all in single use plastics which really throws the whole sustainability motion out the window. Finally, checkout is what gives me the final squeeze. Checkout registers are usually limited to just one or two cashiers causing almost always a guaranteed line. Once it's your turn, it always feels like there is an immense amount of pressure to get your items onto the belt as fast as possible and get out of the way. Finally, once you have receipt in hand, you then are left to bag your items yourself shoulder to shoulder with other customers before heading out to return your cart, get your quarter refund, and lug your bags to the car. Don't get me wrong, ALDI has great deals and is a good spot to get fairly high quality items, especially if you're hosting a party, however I wouldn't consider it a staple to cover all of your grocery needs. For hosting, their cheese and cracker selections are great where a full wheel of Brie will only set you back about $4 and a box of crackers for less than $3. Their fruit and produce section is also fairly impressive for a budget grocer. A fresh cantaloupe for $2 and a box of 9 kiwis for $4.50, yes please! Overall, I do come here every once and a while and probably will continue to do so but you better believe that the relaxing music will be on in the car both to and from the store to help calm my nerves. read more

The Aldi on hwy 6 is a joke. They advertise good quality and meat prices. When I went to the store the meat selection was terrible. If they are going to advertise meat, they need to have it on the shelves, otherwise don't advertise what you don't have. Clean up the store too, it's a jumbled mess. read more

I like it and usually find a bunch of stuff that we need here for very good prices. I guess the main problem with it - if indeed there is a problem - is that it's the whole european-style no frills shopping, cold and heartless, cheap and efficient, and very unamerican in that regard. So it's not always a very comfortable shopping experience and sometimes with wait times and having to produce a quarter for a cart and stuff - even in Corona times - is a little annoying, but it's still a good grocery store of course. I have loved Aldi's fruit and vegetable selections for over two decades. This summer (2024), Aldi introduced huge sweet potatoes, and I was concerned. Anybody who knows the normal size of poultry, fruits, and vegetables knows when farmers and other food producers compromise our foods with steroids and other abnormal (hormonal) growth influencers. I will never buy sweet potatoes from Aldi again. My daughter and I could not swallow the abnormal sweet potatoes. They tasted horrible, certainly not sweet, just horrible. read more

For the cheapest prices on produce and several organic products, ALDI is where it's at. All the vegetables and fruits are priced cheap and still remain high quality. Be cautious of the bananas however as some of them can be stale. Breads and meats are also priced well. One of my favorite finds is the 3 link chorizo for only 2.88; not a bad bargain. And also a 12-pack of 16oz Miller is 11.99 which probably the cheapest beer option I'll need. FIRST-TIME VISITORS: -Bring a quarter. You need it to obtain a shopping cart. You insert a quarter and it releases the cart. When you return the cart, you plug in the connective rope from the next cart and it releases your quarter. This is done to ensure that everyone brings their cart back and they don't have to hire extra staff to take care of it. I've grown to appreciate it because it eliminates annoying carts in the parking lot from people who can't find the time/courtesy to return theirs. -Also, bring your own shopping bags. The cashiers just put your stuff in another cart and then take yours. Then you proceed to the bagging area and bag your stuff. I honestly don't know if they offer bags but I'm sure it's not free. Aldi is an odd experience. They sell a solid selection of cheap but surprisingly good products. The catch is that their low prices come at a cost -- service. Minimal staff and cold cashiers who care only about moving you through as fast as possible. PRODUCE: A small produce department that has the basics at great prices. The quality varies so check your produce carefully. DAIRY: Their cheese section deserves a standing ovation. Great selection at super reasonable prices. Good quality too. Their cottage cheese is excellent --- my boyfriend was raving about it. LOW-CARB: They sell keto-friendly / low-carb products which is fantastic since I eliminated wheat from my everyday diet. Their cauliflower tortilla chips and crackers are surprisingly good. Also, they sell egg wraps which are tortilla wraps made out of eggs (zero carbs). This is one of their more expensive products (nearly $5) however it's still cheaper than buying a similar product elsewhere. EGGS: Organic eggs at very reasonable prices. MEAT: Great prices for chicken and beef. Also, good quality salmon (which I baked with a lovely balsamic reduction) at a very fair price. FROZEN: Excellent deals on frozen berries. I make smoothies almost daily so the costs add up. EVERYTHING ELSE: There is a lot more, including some home items (rugs, appliances, etc.) as well as alcohol. They have some temporary items too so every visit should yield new prospects. CASHIERS: They focus on speed and not customer experience. I guess this makes sense since Aldi hires as few people as possible to keep prices low. My first experience here was comical. My cashier was literally dressed in some sort of tactical gear (knee pads, etc.) and moved faster than any cashier I've ever seen. He was pretty much going for a record as he threw my stuff in the scanned cart. I couldn't load the items onto the belt fast enough so he came over and started taking stuff from my cart. I tried to lighten the mood by saying stupid stuff like "wow, that must be a record" but he literally ignored me. He was like a CashierBot 2022, engineered for maximum high-speed check-out efficiency and minimum conversation. Truly odd. My next visit brought a slightly less intimidating cashier although he wasn't much friendlier. Anyway, this can be disconcerting but hey, you're getting great deals so maybe supplement your Aldi trips with occasional Trader Joe's visits, just to get some friendly smiles or welcoming chats or whatever. read more

Just visited this location for the first time. I love that there was a person designated to clean carts. Today the shopping carts were free . I don't know how long they have been doing that. The store was clean and not crowded. I do like that there are social distancing reminders on the floor. Unfortunately, the hand gel dispenser was empty. It seems you are allowed to bring your own bags here. I wasn't sure so I ended up purchasing bags for 10 cents a piece. I had only intended to grab a few featured items in the weekly ad but ended up finding most of my essential grocery items. Now if you are about brand loyalty... you might find it challenging to find the exact item you are looking for. Depending on the item there may not be a lot of variety. Since there is not a lot variety are you getting the best price an item. Are you getting the most for your money? What is the price per ounce or by unit? You will need to do your research before you go. And check expiration dates.... Overall, the staff was friendly. There was plenty of parking and I found what I needed. FINALLY!! After months of anxiously waiting for this location to open, we were finally able to stop by. This store is brand new, so it still looks nice and organized. But most Aldi's look organized all the time, really. It's in a great location right at the corner of Shepherd and Garden Oaks Blvd with ample parking. It's in a shopping center but parking is not an issue. They have many of the similar items that I've seen at other locations. During the opening weekend, it seems that they had even more deals on various items. This location seems like its going to stay packed. We stopped in around 11am on Saturday and it was popping. We looked around a bit but it was a little too packed for us to really check everything out, so we decided to come back later that evening. When we did come back, it was around 8 that night and it was still a little busy. I noticed that there were more employees in the store so that was nice. Most Aldi's have about 3 people on the floor. When we checked out, they actually had 3 cashiers so the lines moved fast. The prices here are about the same as other locations. The meat selection, while not big, had some decent prices. Eggs were .68 with a limit of 5, so I stocked up lol Of course please remember to bring your own bags, or be prepared to pay .07 for paper, .10 for plastic or $1.99 for the more durable recycled grocery bags that they now carry. What upset me was how many people STILL left their shopping carts everywhere!! Everyone knows that you need to bring a quarter to use a cart and you get it back when you return it. However when we stopped in, there were about 14 carts just left in the lot. How lazy can you be? I've never seen this at any other locations!! Anyway, cart issue aside. I love this location. Bring a quarter of you want a buggy. Don't worry, you'll get it back. Kind of a smart idea, since most people will return the cart so it saves having someone bringing in carts. First trip in, didn't know what to expect. The produce is a hit and miss. But great prices. Avocados for 29 cents, whole pineapple for 79 cents, green onions 65 cents for a bag....I don't think they hold as long. I love their chocolate croissant snacks. Guilty. They have a decent selection of snacks - chips, nuts, cookies. Their cold stuff kind of a hodge podge - hummus, dips, yogurt, lunch meat, cheeses, etc there is assorted pizzas and a meat section - chicken, beef, etc.. Their eggs are normally priced low. Less than $1 for a dozen. And cream.cjeese was 79 cents. I love their 2 pack of cheesecakes )the strawberry swirl). It's $1.65 and worth every penny. I also get water from there, $1.95 for a case. Aldi I HEART Aldi! There, I said it out loud. Who wouldn't love a place that offers surprisingly low prices on items ranging from baked goods, high quality fruits and vegetables, deli items (cheese, prosciutto, hummus, etc.), home goods, and beer/wine. The list goes on, but you get the general idea. The store reminds me of my first experiences shopping in European-style markets while visiting countries like Austria and Finland. They are relatively small, super clean, no frills, and operated with minimal staff. If you keep this in mind and can overlook the bells and whistles provided by their larger competitors, then their lower prices will have you feeling cooler than a cucumber (which are always fresh and usually on sale). Even if it's your first time there, most likely you have been told through the grapevine to bring a quarter for a shopping cart, bring your own shopping bags (or pay a minuscale cost), and be prepared to see few brand names. I like the new Aldi store in Oak Forest, it's a cool place to shop. What I like best are the low prices. They have some fantastic deals throughout the store. Their prices are lower than Kroger, Randall's, or Whole Foods. They also carry a lot of food imported from Germany. Be aware, if they have an item that you like on one visit, buy it. I've noticed in my visits that they seem to rotate their stock. NOTE: don't forget to bring your own bags or they will charge a nominal 7 cent fee per bag. Wow this aldi is amazing! I try to avoid Aldi in the past because it can be chaotic at time and I don't always have a quarter. But I can definitely come here more frequently. Aldi is great for home cooks. Veggies are really affordable. Avocado oil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sliced almonds, lots of fancy stuff that can spice up your meals. You are not gonna find fancier items or bougie items like sweet potato fries, or heritage eggs. But anyone on a budget would greatly benefit from it. I also love their Choceurs chocolate. Aldi is under the same company as Traders' Joe and I'd argue that it's better than TJ's. It just got stigmatized because ppl with lower income come here. I had never been to Aldi before. I like this store. You can't beat their prices and they have European food you can't find anywhere else. For example, unlike American brands found at Kroger, their trail mixes are perfect for hiking. Their "dark chocolate and hazelnut" tablets are delicious too. And there is a good selection of good quality wines for cheap. If I am just out of milk, Aldi is the place to go too. It's not crowded, it's a fast an easy stop on my way back home from work. read more
