Before the remodel of this Aldi I hated going here.

There was a acai bowl food truck there... hopefully they'll have more stuff next week. The vendors there were awesome. I just wish there were more. Maybe fresh honey? In my opinion, this temporary location is even better than the original as it's very easy to access and right along the Trolley Trail. You'll find a lot of summer staples here, mostly veggies when we went like: tomatoes, garlic, sprouts, garlic, honey, jams, and green beans. A lot of the vendors have the same things, which is fair because it's what grows in season. All of it is a little pricey, but supports local farmers which is worth it. In normal times, I prefer the OP market because that market has SO many things, including food trucks, coffee, breads, meat, etc. This one is much more sparse, and when my hangry toddler needed food we had to convince her of the deliciousness of broccoli sprouts (kinda worked, by the way). I've seen some select weekends jogging by that there are acai bowls and other goodies, but we missed out on our latest visit. Either way, a nice little market to visit on Saturdays in Brookside!

I'm updating my review of this PriceChopper because I've become a returning customer of the deli…read morebar, where I've been treated like a king. The special hot meal options here are great values: just over $10 for the chicken tenders (or fried fish or chicken) and 2 sides (I recommend the mashed potatoes) are very tasty and make a great takeout option. The salad bar: @$9/lb. it's nearly always well-stocked and fresh, with a wide variety of options and half a dozen dressings. But the BEST thing about the deli bar here is that it's staffed by two truly exceptional people: Dee and/or Jerry. They're personable and strive to ensure that we (their customers) get what we want. They tailor the servings to order with ease and skill, too. If you prefer to dine in, the ambiance is nothing to write home about. But I enjoy getting a good hot meal and maybe a salad that I select for takeout to enjoy in front of the TV news or whatever is on at the time. The deli bar is open until seven or eight p.m. I suggest calling and ordering ahead for large orders or catering. The other thing I like that led me to writing a 5-star review is the location. Just NW of 85th St. on Wornall Road. Technically, I don't think it's Waldo; it's a mile south. For me, it's Santa Fe Hills | Christ the King catholic parish. The hot food is seasoned well. It's 4-6 different side items every day, and I prefer the collards minus the bacon bits; it's tasty either way. I cannot say enough about the mashed potatoes (other than I want the recipe). This is a super-busy grocery market. Inexplicably, the deli bar is rarely busy, even when the produce department next to it is buzzing with shoppers. Hence this review to stimulate others to JUST TRY IT. I think of the $18-20 meal options nearby, and this is comparable food in hearty portions for $10 and change. Easy decision for me to return! Please say hi to Dee or Jerry and let them know you read about their deli bar on Yelp! Thanks. You won't regret it.

Recently they added on a wing around their deli, and it looks a little more suburban than the area but not a total eyesore. I often feel you can judge a grocery store by their produce quality, and here it's always pretty good if not a bit more expensive than other stores. They also have a nice bakery area, beer & wine, and all the candy my girls could ever want to find. Not a place I do my weekly shopping but absolutely fantastic for popping in for a quick thing here or there.

Back when I worked down the street from here, and lived nearby, I used to pop in here frequently for beer, wine, and to indulge in their great salad bar. I don't often find myself grocery shopping in this part of town any longer, but when I do I always notice that they still have a great selection of local items, including beer and wine. AND, they still rock a great salad bar. I popped in here most recently thinking I might try one of the waldo take and bake pizzas that I'd heard were rumoured to be available, and was a bit sad that I would have to get thin crust to get any meats on a 'za. Definitely not Cosentino's fault, but that would be an improvement as I'm not a waldo thin crust fan. At any rate, I think you'll find most of what you need here at a somewhat reasonable price. I'd put prices somewhere in between whole foods and price chopper. While you might pay a little more than going down the street to Price Chopper, you'll find a cleaner shop, and tons more local options, which I always enjoy. Now that I live a little bit further out I find visiting this grocery store to be a bit nostalgic, and I enjoy seeing what little treasures I can find if I find myself here.
