I was surprised that a lot of the berries they sold were small little bowls that looked more like…read morethey were meant for consumption at that time vs. bringing it home to cook with/eat. I like how fresh everything looked. I saw berries, heirloom carrots, and much more. I was surprised to read that the market's open 362 days a year. It is an outdoor market that is located in the busy and popular area of by Byward Square. This area is hard to park in and has lots of tourists. I parked at Rideau Centre mall for $19 (I was here for at least 4 hours). I think what is most impressive about this fruit market is their hours. They are open from very early in the morning until the evening. Their hours are: Monday 7am - 6pm Tuesday 8am - 6 pm Wednesday 8am -6pm Thursday 7am - 6pm Friday 7am-7pm Saturday 7am-6pm Sunday 8am- 5:30pm National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month is celebrated in June every year but you should be celebrating monthly!

Alright, there is a lot of confusion in the reviews here and even I was confused when I originally…read morereviewed the Byward Fruit Market. I mean it makes sense to be the stands in the Byward Market right? Wrong!!! The Byward Fruit Market is actually the little grocery store that is situated beside the International House of Cheese. If you walk in it's a convenience sized grocery store were most of the (it seems to me when shopping here) products come from outside of Canada. I'll drop in quickly when I'm in the middle of cooking and realize I'm out of a certain ingredient but for the most part I wouldn't shop here. This place is open year round and does the most basic of items that you'll probably want for your kitchen. They also have spices and other items throughout the store but it's very small. I hope this clears things up for anyone who actually goes into the store itself. The store is an independent entity from the vendors on the st...actually it might have a street spot in the summer but that's something I have not confirmed with them. Things here seem slightly pricier than the local grocery store. The low review is from the small selection of imported items. Honestly you could go to a grocery store for equivalent produce with a larger selection at a better price. I've been meaning to update my review a lot earlier but kept forgetting to. My apologies.
