Bokie's is an icon. If you want pure Americana nostalgia, tasty food, and huge portions at a great price, then look no further. My family lives over an hour from Malone, and we don't think twice about making the drive to for Bokie's. There's nothing better. The menu is huge - I had a very hard time deciding what to order. If you're on a diet or watching your figure, I wouldn't come to Bokie's unless it's cheat day. You'll be too tempted by the ooey-gooey, sauced and cheesey menu items. I highly recommend the poutine. Cheese curds and gravy over their delicious fries truly can't be beat, and worth sharing with the fam. I ordered the Patty Melt, and it was greasy perfection. Sodas are bottomless and serve yourself, delivered in gratifying glass mugs. Be sure to save room for ice cream! I had the House Special sundae - vanilla softserve topped with warm peanut butter, hotfudge, reese's pieces, whip cream and a cherry. Bring tums and a hearty appetite. Since they are Getting ready to close for 2025 season, we had to stop for their amazing poutine . We also had cheese burger, Michigan and Canadian dog. Everything was so good. I've been to Bokies previously and have been satisfied with the service, cool 50's ambiance and the quality of the food. I just won't be making a stop the week before they close for the season ever again since you just don't know what you'll get. Or not get. I ordered the Reuben sandwich/fries combo and the pig pen poutine which were both specials of the day. The side of fries were dark in color and had a slightly bitter aftertaste hinting that the oil they were cooked in was past its prime. The sandwich was two inches of sauerkraut on top of three thin slices of deli meat. The beef was so dried out, the edges were curled. A Reuben usually contains Russian or maybe Thousand Island dressing--something with a kick. This one had the smallest amount of mayo I've ever seen. Between this and the chewy dry meat, it felt like they were running out of food and substitutions were being made without regard or explanation. Bokies does fantastic spins on your basic cheese and gravy poutine. A few are featured on their menu while the more unique variations pop up from time to time as specials. The pig pen version contains pulled pork, mac and cheese, cheese curds and barbecue sauce. I didn't find one piece of pulled pork in mine. The mac and cheese was crumbly and dry and the small drizzle of barbecue sauce on top did nothing to add moisture. It was like eating barbecue flavored socks. I took it home and added a can of gravy to make it more palatable which helped. I dislike throwing food away and at nearly thirty dollars, who can afford to? I had to make it work and I learned an expensive lesson about timing my visits better. read more

When we first approached the counter we mentioned it was our first time so where should we start on the huge menu. Kenzie (?spelling) stepped right up and was so helpful and fun. She told us about the current menu, staff creations they have a times, how the homemade flavors work and are posted on Facebook. She wanted us to try the "Michigan" which we informed her is NOT something they have in Michigan. . We have now been 3 times in 2 weeks and took the family for our grandsons birthday. They brought out icecream with a candle and all of the customers sang to him. Just a fun 50's/60's atmosphere. Each table has a year with different personalities from that year. Free popcorn while you wait for your food. Just FUN w very reasonable prices. They even have flavored soda along with every imaginable ice cream concoction. Bokie's Drive-In is a great place that will easily remind you of the 1950's. I guess it is because Bokie's Drive-In is a business from the 1950"s and has been an iconic part of the culinary landscape of Malone, New York. Bokie's Drive-In offers some great burgers and hot dogs. Their ice cream is a great summer treat. Since they are close to Canada, they also have poutine. I would recommend a burger, a Michigan dog and an order of fries. You are talking a serious meal here and it is quite good and you will be in heaven, a culinary heaven, if you will. One of the great things about traveling is these little gems that you will find. I have never understood why somebody would choose to eat at a chain restaurant while they are traveling. I can eat at a Long Horn or a Burger King when I am home in orlando, florida. In fact, I have both of those locations about a mile from me. What I do not have a mile from me is a Bokies Drive-In. If you find yourself in malone, new york, I strongly recommend this iconic restaurant. You will eat at a place that Generations have enjoyed. You will eat at a place where people thought so much of, they brought their children's home and those children now bring their children or perhaps their grandchildren to. My visit to this restaurant keeps instating my faith in the yelp reviews. This is a beautiful diner that has an ice cream parlor on its side. You may order just ice creams on the go and choose not to enter the restaurant. If you enter the restaurant make sure you check the instructions (see photo attached). But I'll suggest visitors to enter the restaurant, and check out the decors on the wall and tables. In each table you will find actual newspaper cutouts of important events that happened in a year. Now comes the food. We had ordered the special item- grilled chicken in ciabatta bread. We also had ordered chicken and steak poutines. The ciabatta bread was very soft and fresh. The remaining items were also fresh and in huge portions. We also had their soft serve ice creams. I particularly liked the baby serving size that costs $1.25 because I don't really have a sweet tooth and even the baby size was too much for me. Our total bill for three people was $50 PS: the men's washroom has an original Captain America poster from 1941 that you can see if you stand and face the toilet, and a poster of Marylin Monroe when you sit. However, the poutine was on point, shrimp, kids meals, and the milkshakes. Got the pumpkin spice milkshake and it was like drinking pie filling, in the best kind of way. So adorable!!!! This place was recommended to us by the Farmer Boy museum, and it did not disappoint!!! It has an old-school feel, a self-serve popcorn machine, and an expansive menu. My family and I ordered some burgers and assorted sides (cheese curds, onion rings, French fries) along with sweet and tart lemonade. Service was friendly, our food arrived quickly enough where we didn't feel like we were waiting too long - but not so quick that everything was pre-cooked. Food was good, not the best but I did enjoy their bbq chicken sandwich, food was fresh, took a long time to get the food out but not that long so service is okay, not a fan of the inside, it was stressful and claustrophobic so it takes a star off, this was my second visit, first visit was far worst which takes off 2 more stars because the michigan dog I got had absolutely no sauce on it and the burger was bland but they got better over a month or so, or i just ordered better food. The food has always been amazing. But now it's just frozen burgers instead of fresh. The gravy taste like it comes out of a jar. Definitely recommend going here just for the experience. The inside is very nostalgic and cool. People working here are extremely nice and willing to go above and beyond. Driving through town, looking for a place for lunch, and this showed up in my search. I'm so glad we stopped! As soon as we walked in, the woman at the counter asked if we'd been there before and told us to grab menus, take a seat while we decided, then order at the counter and they'd bring it to us. The food came quickly and it was all great. We ordered a large fry to split and it was a full basket, and they were really good. They give you a chilled mug for your fountain drinks (or plastic for the kids). At the end, there are notes at the table to leave your stuff and they'll clear. I always appreciate when a restaurant tells you things like that for those of us who aren't locals. read more

It would have been great if this was a decent highway pit stop. I feel like the owner is putting all his/her effort into playful/retro decor and gimmicks. I feel like a rant won't get my experience across so here it is summarized - Waited WAY too long for food - Ingredients tasted like they came from a tight-budget Wal-Mart trip - My "BBQ chicken burger" was a plain,dry breast squirted with enough generic sauce to qualify it as a sloppy joe - Fries tasted dry/recycled The ice cream is decent but the homemade blueberry chocolate chip they were sampling had large/full size chips, which are a pain when frozen. Very cute place. Eat in or out. Cool 50's vintage memorabilia all over. You order at the window, they give you a number for your table and they bring your food. It's typical fast, greasy diner type food. It was very tasty. The service was fast! In case you het hungry while you wait.. another patron informed me you can help yourself to free unlimited popcorn and toppings while in the restaurant. If you want it in a bag to go they charge you a small fee. The prices were pretty good and an overall good value for which bite to eat. We didn't have room for ice cream which they also offer. There are a bunch of cut outs for photo ops for IG outside and plenty of fun stuff to look at and read inside. Definitely recommend this place. I only took one star away because I feel like the ordering process could be improved. The menus were on the counter where people were ordering, but it's hard to grab them to look at what you want before you get to front. They might think about putting them in another location. Turns out asking a toddler to sit for an hour while waiting for mediocre food is not a great idea. I really enjoyed the special "Enchanted Chicken" sandwich. A grilled chicken breast topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and mozzarella with a garlic mayo. Very rude and unprofessional. Got there about 5 minutes before closing for some ice cream. The person before us ordered. As they were waiting, we tried to put our order in. The counter person said that their shake machine was already shut down for the night. At that point, another employee handed me a shake that was for the previous person.
