From all of the people in the front letting you taste the fresh fruit before you pick, to the gentleman who taught us what to pick and how, to each of the several people wishing us a safe drive home before the rain came through. There were plenty of oranges ripe for the picking and the groves are healthy and active! The honeybells are seriously the juiciest citrus I've ever had. The farm market has everything Florida you could ever need and we also brought home some orange tea cookies, monkey butter, chocolate gators, and some juicy fresh pomelos. PLEASE pay Dooley Groves a visit and bring your out of state friends- they will thank you! (Ps- they also ship their citrus!)

Breanna was exceptional in helping up figure out how the actual U Pick works and our cashier specifically went above and beyond; even going so far as to recommend additional local spots in the spirit of supporting others local small businesses. I'm so sorry to forget her name as she truly made our experience. The actual oranges are firm and juicy and the overall ambiance was the perfect edition to any trip showcasing 'FL highlights.' Thanks again ladies your hard work does not go unnoticed!!

I loved the idea of picking peaches for Mother's Day. Now it was H-O-T, not gonna lie!! But it…read morewas something new and I wanted to give it a try. This place is in Dade City which we took the back road from Lutz to get there. It made for a nice drive, not much traffic and the roads were smooth. Keep in mind that there is 1 way in and 1 way out. Also want to put in the disclaimer that if you have a low car or a car you may want to take it very easy when exiting -- the exit has a DEEP dip in the ground and isn't level to the road so if you don't go out at the right angle, you're going to get stuck. Next time we will definitely bring my SUV versus my hubs Dodge Charger. When you arrive, you park over on the side where they have signage indicating parking. Upon arriving, don't just go out and start picking unless you're familiar w/the process. Visit the small table they have setup near the large oak tree for a bag to fill with your peaches. They have 2 groves available --- 1 for more sweet peaches and 1 for more tangy peaches. We were probably out there a good 30-40 minutes and visited both groves. I wanted the sweet ones and my daughter wanted the tangy ones. These peaches are rather small compared to the peaches you've ever had from Georgia or from the grocery store. They do allow you to sample the peaches while picking -- just pick the peach and eat it! That's the best part. :) We ended up spending $30 for 2 bags which was actually ALOT of peaches. We did find it hard to find peaches that were ready to pick and looked good....the trees all seemed a bit picked over, which may be due to the timing as well. Perhaps if you go earlier in the season you'd have better luck in finding better peaches. They also went bad REALLY fast. Within 3 days, we had to throw a lot of them out given they were bad. Next year we'll go earlier in the season for better quality. I will give them 3 star though -- the people working there are extremely friendly and the groves are clean and allow for distancing while picking. They do have another grove not that far away which I think we'll try the next time we go. Restroom needed while there, have no fear --- they have a portable potty available.

Now a few pointers, in my humble opinion. There is a male/ female duo that appear to be the owners & another lady that makes the sandwiches . The female duo is a bit hard of hearing & communication can be difficult. The man, wants to be heard & tell you his opinion. Because I wanted my Cuban cold, he said I should get an Italian, excuse me, I know what I like to eat. Many specialty items in the store were not marked with prices. I was interested in several, but I have a personal issue, when items are not already priced, so I sadly passed on these items. The produce was sparse, which I understand. Being new, why buy big lots of produce, to have it go bad. What I think you should do, with the produce you have, is put your best effort forward. Wipe off the dust & grime & have all produce looking as good as it can!. I walked into the store & 2 people were standing around waiting for a customer or something to do. There was plenty to do! The only great looking produce I saw, was the ginger. The lady behind the counter has limited English, but makes a good sandwich. The Cuban, still was not on Cuban bread, but it was okay. They are new, & hopefully they will learn. What's a girl to do? I keep trying new places & have yet to find a Tampa great Cuban sandwich. Good luck to the new owners, a produce market & deli could definitely be used at that location.
