Mangos were 99¢ to $1.39 depending on size, a full pint of blueberries were $2.99, plantains were 3/$1, 4 mini cucumbers ended up being $1, tomatoes were $2.99 where folks at other stores charge double for the same thing!! I can't quote you on all the prices accurately, but if you know your fruits and veggies the way I do, you'll notice that the prices are generally 20-50% lower than other stores. Also - FRESH dates. Yeah. My American ignorance was challenged today, folks. I'm glad. The owner gave me one to try and it was great! They go out of their way, even on busy days, to answer any questions you have about the produce, the farm, or anything else about the area that you want to know. They keep the place looking great all season long (both the "you pick" fields and the indoor store. The most attractive thing about this farm share upon first glance was the great hours. You can go Saturdays from 10-3, and W-F from 1-630PM to pick up your share. These hours are unbeatable compared to other CSAs in Western Mass and they make it easier for busy people with odd work schedules to participate, which I appreciate. I also appreciate that they have THREE farm share sizes to chose from. I strongly recommend getting the largest one, and getting a buddy (or buddies) and sharing it, it is a great deal and a ton of produce! The prices and how everything works is clearly spelled out on their website so you can check it out before you head there. The produce selection is also pretty awesome. We are never bored. My favorite part about farm shares is that it forces you to eat way more vegetables than you probably would otherwise, and it also forces you to be creative with recipes and explore new dishes to cook. The U-Pick component is also a lot of fun, especially if you have kiddos. The current U-Pick selection is quite robust, unlike other farm shares where you just pick a handful of items and you're out. The fresh herbs alone are enough to make the U-pick worth every ounce of sweat required to pick them on a hot summer day. Finally, I must comment on the view. I attached some pictures to make that point. Being at the base of Mt Tom provides beautiful views as you are out in the field picking produce. It definitely makes you stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and smile. I strongly recommend this place!

One of the things that turns me off about cooking is that simple meals somehow turn into $80 trips to stop and shop. Part of it is because even if you only need a tablespoon of something, you have to buy a whole container of it. Not so at fiddleheads! Oats, rice, coffee, herbs, spices, you name it- you can buy as little or as much as you need. -the fresh local food. From salmon and beef to fruits and veggies, fiddleheads has a wide range of locally and responsibly sourced fresh food. Some things are seasonal, some things are constants, but the more you shop there you will quickly get an idea of what you can find and when. -of course, the staff. Every single employee I've interacted with in my many years of coming here has been friendly, helpful, and respectful. You see a lot of the same faces year after year, and I get the impression that people truly enjoy working there. They recently just celebrated 16 years in business, which is no small feat for a co-op swimming in a sea of big chain grocery stores. For me, it's certainly not hard to see why.
