It's time for an update!…read more I want to start by saying if you have yet to come what are you waiting for?! But in all seriousness we have done a lot up here since I put the farm on the map. Lets start with our new kitchen! We have built a beautiful kitchen which has helped serve some delicious burgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, fries & grilled cheese for you to munch on. While waiting for your order you can walk to the other side of the building to grab a craft beer from Fieldcrest Brewing Company. We do not yet sell ice cream but the plan is to have it in 2023! We do sell cider donuts and s'mores in our country store to help with that sugar craving. We have a stage for our live music! Starting mid July we start our summer concert series which has been a huge hit with the community. I personally love seeing our field covered with lawn chairs and smiles every weekend. We provide lots of games for the kids such as sport balls, tumbling towers, and disc golf while you are enjoying the tunes of your favorite musicians! And when you need a break you can take a tractor ride around the farm! During the week we have provide sunset yoga as well as farmers markets! What better way to enjoy the views than supporting your local community vendors and or taking in some relaxing yoga with friends and family. We still have all your favorite apples for picking AND we planted 250 more trees with plans this fall to plant even more! This will help us prolong our season to Columbus Day Weekend a few years from now. Please do not climb on the trees. We do provide apple pickers for those hard to reach apples. Any broken branches could increase the risk of disease and or kill the tree. The farm has now also turned into a venue for events! We have had a few weddings now this year, including Dan and his new wife Brooke! So if you are looking for a wedding venue why not here! Please scroll through the many pictures to see some of their pictures for a visual. Some things you may notice when coming up, we no longer have the pumpkin patch and the cows have been sold. We have butchered two of the cows so if you are looking for some grass fed beef just find Dan or myself and we'll let you know what we have. A couple reminders: Please drive slow. This helps keep the dust at a minimal, our neighbors will appreciate it, and with all the children running around we want to keep everyone safe. We do not allow outside food and alcohol beverages. Please leave your coolers at home. We are a pet friendly farm! Please pick up after your furry friends after they do their business. This is a farm so you will come across bees also enjoying the apple. Look before you step when picking apples. Could easily step on a fallen apple and roll an ankle. We do encourage exploration! The view from the upper hill is amazing and we recommend taking a walk to enjoy the scenery. And without saying please pick up after yourself, a clean farm is a happy farm. We joined Oxen Hill Farm CSA in 2015. Prior to 2015, we had been around the block with a couple of…read moreother CSA Shares. All have been worth, but Oxen Hill Farm just puts a real personal touch to approach. Full shares, for big families (4+) and Half shares for smaller (less than 3); generally from June to October. A Fall extension is available for an additional price. If we can't eat our share before it goes to wast, then items are prepared and frozen, dehydrated and vacuum packed, or canned. Due to the interest in our Town we are afforded an in-town pick-up on Thursdays evenings. However, trips up to the Farm are always nice on a Saturday morning. At the Farm, you have a bit more choice than the in-town pick-up and you have browse through their nine herb beds and rows of flowers for the pick'n. Special purchases are available, too, my favorite the 20 pound cases of super ripe tomatoes. This has become my WeakEnd Warrior Passion once a year. Sauce and lots of it; basically a years worth. This year we ordered five 20 pound cases, plus about another 10 pounds from our garden. Equating to 45 quarts of frrrrresh sauce jared and sealed over a two day Saucy Fest. With Oxen Hill, it's all about fresh: Corn, Lettuces', Potatoes, Yams, Squashes, Tomatoes, Kale, Swiss Chard, Beets, Cucumbers, Garlic, Chives, Garlic Chives, Onion, Beans, Melons, Pumpkin, and so on!

Though they don't grow their own stalks, they do source their own "Hadley Grass" from nearby farms - and they can tell you which farm's asparagus is for sale that day. Friendly and fun.

Johnny's has been one of my favorite produce markets for years now. In the spring, before local…read moreproduce is ready, they sell vegetable and decorative plants. They continue to carry flower plants and herbs into the summer and fall. In July they begin to carry absolutely beautiful flower bouquets that are fresh cut every day. Since they're fresh, they last so much longer than ones from the grocery store. And they have such an interesting variety of flowers in them. They have become a summer staple for us! They sell tomatoes that they grow themselves that are absolutely delicious. I always grab some extra cherry (or grape?) tomatoes to snack on while driving home. They sell other produce that they grow themselves or get from other local farms. There are signs up telling you what town and state each product is from. They carry milk and yogurt from a local dairy farm, Smyth's Trinity Farm (Enfield, CT). The chocolate milk is heavenly. They also started stocking fresh bread from Hartford Baking Company. Johnny's has been great during Covid. The store has the doors open and fans running, providing plenty of ventilation. They require masks and social distancing. The employees are always wearing masks (and wearing them properly, covering nose and mouth) which makes me feel comfortable bringing my 1 year old, who cannot wear a mask, in with me.

It's a bohemian dream…read more The day before, we were able to pick wildflowers in the fields which were then used for table centerpieces. I discovered I do not have an eye for flower arrangement. Thankfully there were more creative women in our group and they were able to provide some assistance in making my flower arrangements more aesthetically pleasing. A fun experience nonetheless!

Came here for a wedding on a Friday night in June, gorgeous venue. Great food and even better…read moredrinks! Bartenders were very nice and attentive and went out their way to make special drink requests for the guests. Drinks were very different and cool not just your regular wedding venue drinks, they made specialty ones. All the employees were very kind and on top of it.
