We just went there today. It is a new store that is nice and clean. I have to say: We love Aldi! Their prices are very reasonable!!! My estimate is that we save at least 40 percent on our monthly grocery bill compared to buying stuff at other stores. However, this also involves some meal planning. We always do a big trip :) I would like to comment on the bad review on here: 1. You do not have to pay for your shopping cart! If you bring it back to its designated area, you can take your quarter out. 2. About the "knock-off" brands: Please do some research about Aldi. All products are great quality for less than the name brands... check the ingredients... Aldi never disappoints! My favorite products: German chocolate, cereal & cereal bars, lunch meats, the great cheese selection, sausage, and of course the "Aldi Finds" :) I recommend this store! :))) read more

bought salmon that had a 50% sticker on it... I was told by an associate if I go to self checkout someone would come and give me the 50% since the sticker doesn't take the 50% automatically. No one came even after the register itself said someone would come... Also why are there never enough bags around the store to put your vegetables and meat in? The holders are always empty. This place was messy, dirty, and poorly managed. There were a ton of workers walking around, but none of them ever helped anyone unless a direct question was asked. They don't stock essentials like tarter sauce. It's a seasonal item I was told. Then there was a ridiculous long line which I had to wait in with my three items for everyone with their full carts. This is the only Aldi I've ever been to but I will say that I think the experience could be better at a different location. There's always such a long line at check out and the store isn't always organized. It's definitely not the first store I think of going to. I love the Porterville store and I shop there weekly. The new self checkouts have me leaving this store. I buy a cart full of stuff and where do you put all of the items on the self checkout? There is a long line for the one manned check out. I don't mind if they put in one or two for people with a few items. Self checkouts are horrible for seniors, some can't hear the beeps so you charge yourself double on some items, I fired myself as checker I do a lousy job and many times have I left cash back in the machine. Grand opening day! As expected the parking was full, but easily navigated. The store was extremely busy, but shoppers flowed in and out with ease. Upon entering you are treated to a well lit store that puts you in place to begin saving money. You are first presented with an array of produce that is priced reasonably (unlike other stires), and off you go to a store with isles that are designed to let shoppers flow instead of bottle necking them with tiny isles that frustrate. Thank you. The cashier's are lightning fast, curious, and kept things moving. Great job! A final note! Don't forget your quarter for the carts. You place a quarter into the lock and take your cart on it's journey. Upon returning your cart to a locked position your are once again reunited with your shiny quarter. read more

ALDI - Grand opening - Grocery Near Me - Porterville, California

Aldi is a place that I have grown to love. Especially since it was the only store I bought my stuff at in Fresno for two years. Unfortunately, this Aldi in Porterville doesn't compare to any of the other locations I have visited. The Porterville location is the dirtiest and low stocked Aldi I have ever been to. It never fails when I go, there is trash in most common walking areas, entrance is always dirty, and it seems like they don't take restocking and organization to a descent standard. And the cherry on top. There is always one cashier with 20 customers waiting to check out. It's sad because I really love Aldi, but there current employees need more support, better training, higher expectations, and better management. read more

This aldi is definitely not one to come back to. I came here yesterday 30 mins before closing. Did all my shopping before they closed but as I was putting my stuff in the belt I had the urge to go to the bathroom. I'm 35 weeks pregnant & my bladder has its mind of its own. So I can't decide nor tell my bladder to hold it. I asked the cashier lady (Ariana) if the bathrooms were open she said "no, because we close in 5 mins" so I was denied bathroom access because the store was closing in 5 mins yet it wasn't time to close since we still had 5 mins. Wow!!!! I've never experienced anything like this. Shouldn't the bathrooms close as the same time as the store does?? I drove 45 mins to this location since I usually go to the one in Hanford. I wanted to experience new surroundings but definitely won't be coming back to this location. She seemed a bit bitter after she gave me my change. If this is how they treat customers 5 mins before closing then they definitely need to change that. Also I noticed a trail of water spots all thru the store as if they were mopping.myself or someone else could've fallen and had a terrible fall. I understand everyone wants to go home as soon as possible but can't they wait until all the customers are gone . Save your troubles and drive to another aldi location. read more

I love aldis. You can find different things that you can't find another market prices are good it's clean the vegetables and fruit are wonderful. I love it so I'll be glad when they get one in our town. It should be this summer and that was gonna be my go to place to shop. The service was great. The checker was wonderful. read more

So happy to have an Aldi here! I am basing my rating on my personal experience. I went the first Saturday since they opened and arrived shortly after they opened. The disabled parking spaces were unavailable due to a company truck parked there and taking up at least 3 spaces as they worked on a store window. That didn't set a good tone for my first experience but as I approached the store I was offered a cart and a shopping bag. You do use a quarter to unlock your cart from the cart corral and when you return it your quarter is returned. It's motivation to put your cart back, but I did see a family leave a cart in the parking lot (with plastic produce bags and store flyers left inside, WTG people ). They have all the basics here and many are well priced. You will see some brands you are used to but many are store brands. They also have a section of non food items, and seasonal items. Checking out is quick because at Aldi the checkers scan your items and return them to your cart. After you pay you then proceed to a counter where you put your items in your own bags. I'm thinking I'll be keeping a plastic crate in my vehicle so I can just roll my cart out and load everything into the crate and just put everything else in a cold bag. For this trip I was thinking I would probably be spending around $90-$100 especially when I bought extras (they had the Good Humor shortcake bars in strawberry AND chocolate) but my total was only $50. I did have to go to another store to fill my water bottle and get some seasoning mix and I really prefer shopping earlier in the morning so waiting until 9 is not as convenient for me so I'm not giving them a full 5 stars yet. Now that I know what is available I will plan accordingly and will update this review after I have had another trip or two and have tried out the products. Aldi is not a very good addition to south Porterville. They do not carry much more than the gas station across the street and take up space that could have been an in n out or a better grocery store like smart and final or Costco. read more

Their bogus advertisement! Advertised today one 10-lb bag of potato at $1.49. Went there an hour after opening and staff told me they are out. 1 hour after opening! Is that false advertisement or what!! Their advertised meat is always out. They never have more than 10 packets of meat on their weekly Ad. Terrible. Other supermarket will offer what they adverstised on their weekly ad and always will have them throughout the whole week that they advertise. read more

Aldi's is an incredible market! They have organic produce grown in the USA. It's spacious. It has a great selection of gluten Free goods. The prices are great. The Dry Good's are great. Often exceptional deals! I live Aldi's I wish I lived closer! read more

Prices of foods seem more reasonable than the major stores. Aldi's brands are better than other stores. They are new in the area and offer very good sale prices. Ex. Potato's 10 lbs $1.00. Clever cart return system. Put a quarter in the slot to release the cart. Return it and attach it, the quarter is returned. My grandkids made 50 cents! They offer many organic foods at lower prices. It's not a huge store,easy to get around. read more

Just came home for Aldi's, with a bad experience taste still in my mouth. We go there once a week to shop, but this time was different. My wife was paying for our groceries, and her purchases included a couple bottles of wine. The checker asked for her ID, (she is 62) then turned to me, and asked for my ID. I told her I'm not buying the groceries, And she insisted I must produce an ID. By this time I felt very embarrassed with other customers looking onward, and was ready to walk out. My wife said just show her your ID. I'am 72 years of age, and will never shop at Aldi's again... read more

I would shop more if they had store ads in the newspaper. They are not consistent on having inserts in the paper like all the rest of the grocery stores. Then when I called they said they only mail them to the houses around the store. Good luck with that since they are in the northeast part of town and most of the town is miles from this store. Either they put inserts or watch there store go belly up. You need to advertise weekly. read more

The big older man with the glasses that is always there needs to be let go. his name is GABRIEL i saw his name tag and i would've took a picture of him to post up but i'm sure anyone that has gone to the store has seen him there. He never smiles or greets you. Plain disrespectful . if i could give the store zero stars i would. The employees are HORRIBLE , RUDE, INCONSIDERATE, & need to be replaced. Every single time i've been there. I always have a bad experience with the cashiers. One time a girl yelled at me if i was going to pay for that, when i grabbed a paper bag. She yelled in front of all the customers and I was so embarrassed that I didn't say nothing and put the bag back. Just the other day I went to ALDI after not going for months and once again The cashier was super rude and didn't even care to smile or even ask how i'm doing or any kind of greeting. Also i've found that a lot of produce is molded and rotten (reason why it's on special). and also the whole switching cars thing is inconvenient for the customer but of course for the employees it's convenient, gives them more of a reason to be lazy. Since they sit on chairs the whole time they check you out. You're forced to switch cars and you bag all of your stuff and do everything all the cashiers do is take your money. And a lot of the times, they pass an item twice and charge you for something you didn't even get. All the workers are super rude and not friendly. Go at your own risk. read more
