My 85yo mother is picking up her grocery orders at SaveMart Porterville and they are amazing! I can turn in and pay for her groceries online and she no longer has to use their cart as a walker to shop. InstaCart is expensive and more difficult than just using SaveMart if you're able to pick up your groceries. Thank you to the staff for making this a great experience for my family. When I moved here 4 years ago Savemart was definitely the supermarket in town that had the most organic produce and other items, plus gf stuff. However since Kings Market purchased them they have gone down hill. We bought two packages of organic butter and they were both old and moldy with 2025 expiration dates. We have had recent experiences buying avocados and other items that were spoiled. We are tired of it and we are going to start using Smart and Final and other stores instead. Do they really think deceiving customers and keeping spoiled food out is going to keep the store open? read more

The guys in the meat department are so rude! They complain if you get more than two packages of meat that's ON SALE!!! I haven't been back in the store since "Jesus" in the meat department ignored me when I asked for several packages of meat that was on sale! He embarrassed me in front of customers. I waited till he helped several other customers and deliberately made me wait till the last person, then just walked away. I was so embarrassed. They don't want to do their job and package up more than a couple packages at a time! They should not work in a job that serves the people! read more

I really believe Savemart tries to trick people with the way they label their prices, especially senior citizens. You have to be so careful to read everything the label says and they're not easy to read. Often it's buy so many and get one free or digital coupon or by the pound and not each. Very confusing. I often hear customers complain that what they are charged is not what was labeled. SHAME ON YOU SAVEMART! Also, there are more problems with their self check out than any other stores where I shop. read more

You do not save money at these stores. I would rename it PaymartI don't come to this store very often. I don't know where everything is. I mostly buy liquor and beer here. They have a decent gourmet cheese selection and fresh herbs. The service is okay, however there never seems to be registers opened when it gets busy. They don't help you with your groceries out to the car and there's no cart corrals in the parking lot. So guess what? Carts are going to be left out there willy nilly. read more

Good staff and it's clean, but I have one big complaint. There's zero beer selection. I counted 1 Oktoberfest all season, and there is currently 0 seasonal beers at Christmas time. It used to be better but now it's purely mainstream IPAs and that's it. read more

Their prices aren't drastically cheaper as advertised, but they work really hard to protect customers from Covid. They wipe down all shopping carts, they politely ask customers to maintain the six-foot distance while checking out, and I have never met a grumpy or rude staff person. Well it is clean compared to all marts that's all that matters.. Man it's lit tho with alcohol. Go nuts they have a unique selection from beer wine and the hard stuff love coming here. Just an average small shopping complex , much smaller than any Ralph or Walmart . Contains all basic necessity - less variety as compared to others . I don't live here , just took a small stopover . It's clean and arranged properly in baking , flower , vegetable , fruits etc section. read more

I don't live here, so this is just a stop when visiting my parents, although I DID live here from 1993-1995. It is small and there are some good deals, I got 2 Odwalla's for $4, and Oikos 10 for $10, but you have to look around. It is diversified, and I was able to shop and find out of the norm foods, which is how I roll! read more

DIRTY deli and HORRIBLE service! I'm pretty sure that the butcher blocks are not acceptable to the health department. It's so disgustingly dirty. I went in to purchase deli meat and the little man behind the counter angrily stated that he was no longer cutting meat and he had already cleaned the meat cutter machine twice. I asked the manager what time the deli closes and he said 9 PM so then I proceeded to tell him what the angry little man said and he stated that yeah once they clean the butcher block they stop cutting. Mind you they put all the meat away so nothing was available. I let the manager know that they need to provide better training to their employee as he should have responded in a different manner. The manager just said "oh ok". Well no wonder why they have rude employees, the manager was clueless to the fact and he neither apologized for the bad service. Something like ," I'm so sorry but we are no longer cutting meat for the night" is how they need to train their employee. Also the cashier who checked us out didn't say anything at all. Looks like they need training all the way around starting from the top! read more

As of this writing SaveMart is nearing the end of a store-wide renovation and what I'm seeing makes me happy. Not only are the displays updated but they are adding a lot more items and offering special areas like a soup bar and fresh bakery items. My only issue is learning the new store layout. I was on the verge of shopping elsewhere because I'd felt the store over the past few years to be a bit lacking. It was "the nicest" supermarket we had but that wasn't saying a lot and I didn't feel the prices were always worth what I could get but I am definitely staying with SaveMart now. It's about time we had a better quality place in town instead of low-end. read more

Normally we have had no problems with the pharmacy !!! About 30 years we've been going there ~ One bad moron can spoil the whole bunch :( !!! ~~ Pharmacy department run around ~ !!! Needed print out of med purchases for my disabled parents ~ was informed needed to come and pickup "release forms" for me to be able to obtain them, which I did ~ brought home, had parents fill out forms and brought them back to get print-outs ~ was then informed patient had to actually, physically be there to pickup records !!! Now I'm both confused and getting pissed ~ I read the form, provided by Savemart, and it CLEARLY says, first line, " I, PATIENTS NAME, do hereby authorize, PLACE FOR MY NAME, to pick up my records. On this day, etc. etc " ~ so I say, what is the purpose of the form then ? Clerk is sorry, so I tell her I want to speak to a manager ~ in comes, Robert, very "matter of fact" like says basically that's how it is and there's nothing I can do about it ~ when I ask him to read me the first line of the Savemart form, he says he won't ~ I tell him form is useless than and he needs to report to "whoever" that they either need to change the wording, or omit the form entirely because it is useless. He says he will not ! so, he then says to me that there's nothing he can do, but will give me the corporate office number to call ~ I say fine and wait 10 - 15 minutes for him ... he returns and explains that he spoke to "someone" and he will take forms and fax it to where-ever, and the printouts I require will be mailed to us ~ I tell him that will be o.k. ~ now, I realized that I have raised my voice to this "Robert", and I feel some remorse, so ... I say to Robert "I'm sorry for raising my voice to you, it's just been a long day and I was upset because this wasn't making any sense" and stuck my hand out, like a MAN apologizing, he looks at my hand, then at me and says "no, that's alright, never mind that' ~ !!! What a moron !!! I was surprised that an employee for Savemart lacked the common decency and fortitude to be able to accept an apology ~ !!! Very sad, total lack of character there ~ !!! read more

Went in the deli section of this store and was irritated. Was bombarded with "what can I get you" 5 times in a row when I said "just a minute I'm looking" and while I continue to look the guy is just staring at me which is making me anxious to pick something. The guy who made my sandwhich and wrap had an irritated look on his face the whole time I was ordering and was snappy. Made me feel like I was In a rush and they just wanted to get me out of there. Also when people were actually ready there was no one to be found. I'm sorry but if you work at a grocery store your going to work with people your going to have to learn to be patient with them. Generally speaking about Save Marts, they are fairly expensive, so it is foolish to make it your one stop grocery shop. However, their ad has some good deals every once in a while on meat, soda, and produce. Be smart, make a list. This is one of the better Save Marts in the foothill region. I live 3 miles away from the Lindsay branch but I would rather drive the extra 10+ miles to this store. It is bigger than other stores, has a wider selection of items, the wall décor has been updated (others are stuck in the 70's), and even has a deli/bakery and fish counter. Small things such as the faux thundershowers in the produce really do make a shopping experience a little more amusing (no matter how corny it may be). As far as staff is concerned, it can be hit or miss (just as people are). They can be friendly and helpful at best, and aloof at worst. At least they have baggers, so you shouldn't have to bag your own groceries. As with any grocery store, use your common sense. If you want a nicer experience, don't go during peak hours (typically noon, 3 pm, or 5 to 7 pm). Avoid going Sundays or near the first of the month. Never go with 7 days of a holiday. One bad thing about this store is the parking lot. People often ignore the aisle direction, cut you off, ignore pedestrians, and stop in front of the store to pick someone up or let them out. The blacktop isn't in the best of shape and is rough in many areas. This is not THE best Save Mart in Tulare County by any means, but it is probably one of the better ones. If you are from away, you will find it underwhelming (even the people from here find it underwhelming). Nevertheless, shop here at your own discretion. read more

This is the most disgusting market I have ever been in! Not only is their milk out of date, the people are horribly rude and un helpful their bathroom makes me want to vomit and looks and smells like someone has vomited in it. The store is clean, the staff is friendly and accommodating. No complaints about the store itself OR the staff there. SaveMart Corporate Office sucks. They don't respond to complaints as they USED TO. Porterville store gets "seconds" as far as produce goes and shelves remain EPMTY for WEEKS and for MONTHS at a time as vendors seem to ignore orders that local staff makes to help REGULAR customers get what they need. The remodel that recently took place is misleading. Huge billboards through out the store tout "Local Produce & Locally Grown," but a HUGE amount of the produce is from MEXICO. THAT IS NOT LOCAL! They use the excuse that they only stock Mexican produce when produce locally is out of season, another lie. Cannot get locally grown green onions for 6+ years even when they are in season in California, most asparagus WHEN IN SEASON IN California is SOURCED FROM MEXICO. SaveMart for a small window of time became comparable to Whole Foods & Trader Joe's in carrying organic/gluten free products and other good brands of healthy foods. Seems they are scaling back on that. New management at Corporate Office may be the problem. It was one of the better grocery stores in the entire town of Porterville until the 2nd store on Olive Avenue closed down. read more
