Change isn't the easiest thing in the world, but that's kinda been the theme of this whole year so...I wasn't completely surprised when my trusty local ALDI announced they'd be closing for renovations. The store was closed for about a month. Apparently, this is the layout of most ALDIs, and our store was one of the last to get with the program. I will say, I enjoyed that all the chips and candy used to be in the entranceway, because it was easy to breeze right past the junk while I got my bearings and fumbled with my list. Now, like most grocery stores, the produce is first. I'm not going to rag on all the adjustments. Sure, I'll be wandering around in a stupor for a while while I figure out where everything is. To be fair, in the olden days, I still used to have to double back to snag some item I'd missed. The plus side of the current floor plan is that when I inevitably forget something in the first aisle, I won't have to snake all the way around the maze to grab it. The store looks more modern, and the lighting seems a little less harsh. It also feels bigger inside somehow, though I know it's not. Overall, this is a nice upgrade. (Now, if only they'd lock away that cheap Brie behind a secret code so I stop cheating on my diet, no other improvements necessary. Hear that, Aldi corporate? Shopping here is part of my Sunday routine. There is a very large variety of items, including organic and gluten free. Sometimes the fruits and vegetables aren't as fresh looking as other stores, but Aldi has a satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your purchase you Can exchange it. I don't typically buy meat other than ground Turkey, because I find That steaks and chicken are often loaded with water to increase weight and plumpness. I do get all of my staples here: bread, milk, eggs, butter, canned goods, ect. This location is right across from Walmart and I still get most of my groceries from Aldi. read more

ALDI - Grocery Near Me - Syracuse, New York

There are a number of Aldi stores in the area. My favorites for finding what I'm looking for and customer service are the Erie Blvd East Syracuse and Rte 31 Clay stores. I pick up my charcuterie board items, crackers, dairy items, veggies if they look good and price is right, frozen items including pizza, and occasional home items that are surprisingly good quality and lower price than most. Like any store if it's kind, you need to shop pricing. I stop at Aldo at least 2-3 times per month. read more

You don't get bags here so BYOB (bring your own bags). You need a quarter to remove a cart from the cart area but you get it back when you return the cart. This place is very comparable to Grocery Outlet in California. Everything is really cheap but there are no brand name food items. They have their own brand of stuff (the way Trader Joes does). They sell a lot of camping supplies surprisingly. I saw a sleeping bag and a fire starter. They have a clearance section with lots of 99 cent aerosolized oil sprays. Selection is limited for vegetables/fruits. You can get a huge pizza here, unbaked for $5.99. The Dinosaur BBQ sauce here is cheaper than at Walmart but they only had 1 flavor (Sensuous Slatherings). I like that they have seasonal items for holidays like Christmas and Valentine's day. For Valentine's day, they sell heart shaped pasta (in different shades of pink) and some nice meringue cookies. My favorite thing to buy here are granola bars. They have over 20 varieties and they're all pretty yummy. I've tried almost every single one. They also have a surprising variety of dark red canned cherries (pitted). read more

I have frequented this Aldi regularly as it close to my workplace and today was my last time. Throughout the entire Covid pandemic, this store has been particularly lackadaisacal in enforcing mask requirements of their patrons as well as their own employees. The times that I have complained to management, I am told that there is nothing that they can do about it. There are always several people not wearing masks when I shop there, despite it being a NYS mandate. These people who choose not to wear masks put all other patrons at risk especially with the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant. I strongly suggest that Aldi figure out a way to not allow maskless patrons in their store as it has severe public health consequences. read more

Alfie's is my Go To store. I can get in and out in a matter of minutes. Staff is always present and helpful. Basing my own groceries keeps the lines moving quickly. The stores are always clean and shelves stocked. The seasonal specialties are always fun. Bought an egg ham and cheese quiche that was fabulous. They also have a great couliflower crust pizza that we eat weekly. read more

Place is hilarious. They have off-brand Little Debbies and off-brand Pizza Rolls. Seriously, if you can't afford the name brand for that shit, you should probably be spending your money on real food, not garbage. Still, gallons of milk are a little over 2 bucks, and you can get a lot of canned staples here for super cheap. read more

In the last year or two, store brands, as well as others have increased in price and the packaging has gotten small in some cases. When you use a debit card, credit card, or food stamps or cash assistance, the CASHIER asks which one you will be using and the consumer will not be allowed to enter the selection privately thereby embarrassing some unemployed individuals. Unable to see how much you are being charged per items unless you wait till after your purchase or you go behind cashier to watch at lightning speed. I am very disappointed with this store. read more
