    Fresh local farm sweet corn!

Such an amazing family owned and feel type of deli with a great variety of offerings. Sooo good!

    meatball sub

This is a great shop with a lot to offer. I came for the subs. The service was promp and efficient no complaints there. I found the bread on the subs to not be super fresh, this was a bit disappointing. I wish the meatball sub had melted cheese but the meatballs still had good flavor. I also got a roast beef sub and the taste was spot on but again the bread was not super fresh. I found them to be reasonably priced and if I'm in the area I would go back. However, taste wise I prefer Mazzeye's and Vince's.

    Corn salad

Great local market, deli & butcher. Huge selection of meats, deli meats, groceries, homemade salads, some desserts and more. The corn salad had a touch of sesame oil and it was delicious. The pasta salad was standard with an Italian dressing. Sub pricing was fair for boars head but the sandwich could use some more ham. Overall, Spear's is a diverse market for all of your needs.

    8" roast beef sub

Lunch time arrived while we were were close to Spera's. A nice market that also includes a deli and meat market. Shelves are stocked with pastas, sauces and anything you'd need to make a nice dinner. Take a number at the deli counter to get your sub/sandwich made. All lunch meats are sliced to order. There are multiple choices of breads to get your sandwich on including Portugese rolls. Roast beef is generally a home made beef, but they were out. SO and I got a large and small subs (respectively) of Boar's Head roast beef. Friday's they have fish fry's ready to go. Was a busy store with ample parking. Out in front they had bins of farm produce. Nice place to visit.

    Huge turkey sub from Speras.

Amazing quality. A little pricey. It well worth it for special occasions. If I lived closer I would probably just spend all my money here :)

When my partner and I walked in, we were greeted by a man at the counter and mentioned it was our first time visiting. His response was about as uninterested as it gets. Instead of offering a menu or any guidance, he simply pointed off to the side and told us to order when we were ready. Not exactly a welcoming first impression. The space itself was small, with a few tables, drink coolers, baked goods, and smoothie options. After placing our order, we waited...and waited. After exactly 40 minutes, I finally asked about the status, especially after watching another couple come in after us, order, and leave with their food before we received ours. I understand that takeout and delivery orders are part of the business, but in-house customers should not be completely overlooked. There was no communication, no sense of urgency, and no effort to acknowledge the delay. It genuinely felt like we didn't matter as customers. And for what? Two sandwiches--a roast beef and a turkey. Having worked in restaurants myself, I can confidently say that should not take 40 minutes under normal circumstances. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough to warrant one. We will not be returning. Save yourself the time and look elsewhere.

Lockhart opened Harts Cafe & Deli in the ALDI shopping plaza on 31 in Cicero, with a menu consisting of sandwiches where he makes ALL the meats himself including pastrami, corned beef and pulled smoked chicken. He has a breakfast menu with platters, sandwiches, pancakes & waffles, offers different coffee options, fish fry Fridays, and Soul Food Saturdays. I went into Harts today after reading a good review about them, and I work pretty close. I LOVE pastrami, and it is not easy to find home made pastrami in the area, so I was immediately interested. Chef Miguel gave me a whole run down of what he offered, told me how everything is fresh made from the pastrami to his whole grain mustard, so I ordered a half pastrami sandwich with a side of his seasoned fries. He also has one of those machines that squeezes fresh orange juice, something I've only seen in one other restaurant here, and I love fresh orange juice, so I ordered once of those as well. He went back and made it immediately. My sandwich was fresh and hot, with thick slices of delicious pastrami on a roll with his home made tangy musatard, leaf lettuce and tomato. The HUGE pile of fries were seasoned well, and I can't place what the seasoning reminds me of, but it's different than any other fries I've had here and they taste great. A half sandwich, large side of fries and fresh squeeze juice cost me about $20. Chef Miguel was extremely friendly, and has a lot of stuff on the menu I want to try, cause I'll definitely be going back.

This is also true of their prepared foods and grab & go sections. The Cicero store is no exception. On a recent visit I picked up the Latin Flank Steak bowl. Since I love Wegman's so much, my expectations were high, though this one left me a bit disappointed. The steak was grizzly and chewy. In fairness, the label said it could be served either cold or heated. Since I wasn't at home, heating wasn't an option. If you decide to give this one a try, I don't recommend it cold. Plus, at $16.00 for one serving, it was certainly no bargain. The store ambience is pleasant, but the quick service isn't so quick. In years past, you could pay for your order at the grab and go section, avoiding the regular checkout line. No more. This was particularly disappointing, given employees were just standing around (something I don't often see at Wegman's). With some tweaks to the service model and an upgrade to the flank steak, Wegman's can meet Customers' expectations (and maybe let them forget the steep price per serving).

I've had just about all the chain sandwich shops you can imagine, but strangely hadn't had a Firehouse sub before until very recently. Firehouse seems to hang their hat (helmet?) on supporting first responders and service members, and I commend the for that. Looking for a quick dinner, I stopped here to get a sub for the ride home. Right away, I was struck by all of the hot options they had on the menu. I was very tempted to go with a meatball sub but this was going to be a car dinner and no one needs a meatball on the floor or sauce on the shirt. I landed on the Sub on a Club - honey ham, turkey, bacon, Monterrey Jack, and the fixings. It took a bit longer to prepare than I anticipated but I think the wait was worth it. The bacon was freshly prepared and the sandwich was served warm - nice! The person checking me out and the sandwich maker were very welcoming and friendly. I always appreciate that at 8 pm on a Thursday night. The sandwich was excellent. Nice mix of meats, crisp bacon, and their deli mustard had a nice flavor. They have one of the Coke Freestyle machines if you like to full alchemist with your drink choices.
