I ordered the sampler plater , the food was good but it looked like it was all piled up like crap. It should have been on a larger plate. The server must have been new because he apologized to too many customers too many times. The food took 1/2 hour to come out of the kitchen and we walked in at 12:00 noon. This is $41 at Alekas. To be fair , the 2 pitas and 2 Tzatziki sauce cups are not pictured. No lettuce, no tomatoes, no onions which used to be included. the Tzatziki sauce was more like runny sour cream with garlic and no cucumber. The waitstaff was rude even though I left a larger than required tip for takeout to support them. Won't be doing that again. Alekas used to be a real good restaurant with really good food. I'm suspecting new management or owner? Maybe Bidenomics ? Either way I would have gotten a better gyro platter and way cheaper at any county fair and without the waitstaff's attitude. Not sure what happened inside but it was dark , in disarray and uninviting. I've been eating here with my coworkers for over 10 years. Disappointed, yeah. Will I recommend them, no. Starting App: kopanisto dip was basically red pepper mixed with cheese given in a soup portion bowl... lacking any depth of flavor. Entrees: the spanakopita was a one-note spinach pie, what you see is what you get. Lastly, the souvlaki, a staple of Greek fare, was unfortunately DRY and overcooked. Had a fantastic first meal at Aleka's this weekend! We were seated on their patio out front which was adorable. Service was excellent and food came out fast, fresh, and delicious. Never had a bad meal from Alekas. The Chicken Parm Special was divine. Good portion of pasta and chicken with a great red sauce. The bread that came with it was phenomenal, with a great flavor. My go to however is the Gyro and Greek Fries. There's no need to travel to Greece go to Alekas for an authentic taste of the Greek Isles. Would definitely recommend this establishment. read more

Very rude waitress, who created us after we picked up a menu to glance at, by literally yelling at us that "that's the wrong menu". We just let her know that she just lost our business and we're on the way out when she yelled "look at this sign", and kicked some ground mounted menu sign they had. We just left. Have never encountered such a rude waitress. Hope someone at the restaurant sees this and fires her. They have to know who on their staff goes off her rocker like that. read more

Who would of thought we would find a great gyro in the middle of cornfields and cows in upstate NY! Stopped here after leaving the hospital. Basically because it was close by, open and had good reviews on Yelp. When we drove by we thought we may have made a bad choice, place was empty, hell the whole town was empty. Anyways it was too late to turn back so we said a hail mary and went inside. We were greeted by our super nice server. We started with the stuffed grape leaves appetizer, it was good and they gave you a good amount. I had the gyro and my girlfriend had the chicken gyro. Both were very good. My gyro meat was actually thicker and meatier than I'm use to, it was very good. To top it off they had a special for Tuesday's if you get 1 sandwich you get a 2nd for 1/2 price! Recently this restaurant rearranged their dining area. They put a food prep area in the front window. Nothing appears to be cooked up there, only plating from a steam table and counter. The restaurant is all chopped up and they removed the bar. Some of the booths have a bench on one side and a chair or 2 on the other. For my recent visit, I sat next to an ATM machine. Not sure why there's an ATM in there but okay. The waitress took our order and brought our drinks out relatively quickly. Soon after, our meals arrived. She neglected to put in our appetizer which my wife reminded her about. We refused her response to get it after we got your entree. Now, our entrees came out on square paper plates with everything on them. We both ordered platters which include a salad, meat, rice and pita bread. It was all piled on this small paper plate like a buffet. The salad dressing and tatatziki came in little plastic to go containers. Not impressed. The meat (chicken for me) was extremely salty. The meat my wife got was cold and dried out. Almost like it was there since last Friday. Our rice was cold and the salad was warm from the meat I assume. Unless they change things, I will not be back and would not recommend this restaurant. Side note, we have been customers since they opened many years ago. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service. For appetizers we had the fried calamari and the grilled calamari in garlic & oil. Both were amazing! The marinara sauce was delicious! I knew we made the right choice. I also choose the chicken orzo soup. It would have gotten 5 stars if it had more lemon. I got the sampler platter. Can you say huge! This wasn't my first time coming here, every other time I've gone to Alekas, it has been FANTASTIC! this time, however, was the worst time I've ever been and may not come back for a bit. I placed an order over the phone for 2 orders of The Greek Fries. The lady on the phone said it would take 25 minutes. I get there when they were supposed to be ready but they weren't. Well, I finally get my food and go home to find that most of my fries were RAW. 30 minutes to cook 2 orders of fries and you can't even fully cook them? I'm very disappointed. You can have chips, fries, or rice with your sandwich and the portion is enough for lunch itself. The food itself was nothing remarkable. The gyro was pretty good, but the pita was a bit too chewy and it lacked feta cheese and cucumber - there was not written option on the menu to add that either. The meat was pretty good. My mom had the slouvaki and the pork was very chewy - it was seasoned well though! I had seasoned rice which had onions and bell pepper chunks. It was a bit over salted. Just finished returning from Alex's for dinner with my family. We are Greek food fans & were very interested in going here for dinner. The food was fantastic & the wait staff were very friendly/accommodating. We started off with a platter which had pita bread & three "sauces", one being hummus. All top notch & could have eaten that as a meal. Three of us ordered the gyro platter while I choose the sampler platter. The sampler platter was excellent & provided many options. Falafel, gyro meat, grilled chicken, pickled beets, Greek salad, etc... More than enough. No one went home hungry, everyone went home satisfied.
