One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I took my daughter and son for my daughter's birthday. Reservations for 6:00, sat down at 6:05, didn't get our drinks until 6:45, didn't get our meals until 7:30. The table next to us sat down after us, had their meals and left before we were even served. The waitress said she didn't even know she had our table. When I asked her to do something with the check, she asked "why". When she came back and said there was nothing she could do I went and talked to the manager. He said this should be expected with "fine dining". He eventually took 15% off. I am a local and I always enjoy coming here. Very disappointing. read more

The food here is amazing!!! 5 stars. I had the seafood ala vodka was creamy, delicious, and not too salty. One whole lobster tail cook in the sauce, shrimp and scallops cooked to perfection. My only disappointment was the service. We were there early 5:00 so of course we got the youngest most in experienced staff. They were cute but Skippy got my appetizer order wrong, I ordered escargot no cheese it had to go back. My heart was broken when the busgirl threw out more than half my dinner by mistake! The short version: -incredibly long wait for food -poor staff communication -food was hit or miss The long version: We had a large group and reservations for 7:30 on a Saturday night. Within 10 minutes our party of 8 had our drinks and bread, so that came quickly and was good! We ordered our appetizers and food at the same time, and though the appetizers came quickly enough, the entrees took far too long. Apps came within about 20 minutes of ordering which was reasonable as it was fresh and tasty. However our entrees took over 45 minutes from when the appetizers were delivered. In this gap of time our waitress stopped over once, about 20 minutes in, to tell us it would be a moment. What an understatement. Despite the painfully long wait, the food itself was for the most part just okay. Pasta is made fresh which is evident, but the lobster in the Alfredo was over cooked while the scallops were undercooked and still partially transparent. This unevenly cooked seafood aspect carried through a zuppa dish not pictured here, which was a disappointing result of such a long wait. The pasta sauces were tasty however and the personal pizzas we ordered were pretty good. Dessert again was a bit of a disappointment, as the Irish cheesecake was a confused dish that had hints of coconut and cheesecake and mint, and the cannolis were nothing to take note of, also a strawberry cheesecake also not pictured here was fine in the taste of the cheesecake but the topping was almost that of strawberry jam. Casa Capitano definitely needs to work on the pacing of their meals and consistency of food quality. At the time our meals were being prepared there were no other tables being served so we all had a hard time wrapping our heads around how it could have possibly taken an hour + to receive our entrees. Potential for this establishment to have 4 stars, but they definitely need to put in the work. read more

BEST FILET EVER. Everything here is scratch made, the best ingredients and sooooo delicious! Bearnaise sauce is available, the only place I've ever seen it on the menu. My steak was thick, juicy and perfectly cooked. The pasta was perfect and had good flavor, meatballs were spicy, but yummy. Service is excellent. The ambiance is lovely- soft music, candles, cool airplane decor. The restroom is clean and easily accessible. Outside seating is available, weather permitting. And the view? Spectacular Lake Champlain! WOW! You cannot go wrong here. I cannot recommend highly enough! read more

Have been multiple times. Food is always Fantastic. My wife and I moved to Franklin County VT a few years ago from Boston, where we could always get great Italian food. My wife is Italian, and very picky about her pasta. We tried many "Italian" restaurants in NW VT, but never found anything that really did it for us. Then we tried Casa Capitano. Yay!!! Pasta is fresh and homemade. Sauce is terrific. Staff is very nice, helpful, and dressed for the part. We have brought friends without hesitation, and never been disappointed. Worth the trip from VT. Try to get a table upstairs. The deck is nice in the summer with a view of lake Champlain. We now tell folks "we found the best Italian restaurant in VT. You just have to go to NY!" read more

What a nice little restaurant. Was pleasantly surprised at how delicious our food was. We tried the seafood chowder special. It was excellent. Small tender cubed potatoes with clams, fish, shrimp, and scallops in a delicious creamy broth. My wife is still talking about it. The homemade pasta was also excellent I had their Bolognese with Rigatoni and my wife had Fettuccine Alfredo both were delicious. All in all an excellent meal. We came back a few days later to try their wood fired pizza. Best we've had anywhere. Highly recommend this place if you're up that way. read more

This was our second visit to the area and we ate here on both trips. Our server Luke was great and the room is always great to look around for the aeronautical theme. Entrees were Salmon Picatta which was a well-prepared portion with a nice sauce. The other entree was Pollo Alla Bella-chicken and shrimp in a pink sauce with mushrooms and red peppers. Very well done. The other thing we weren't happy about is we both said no pasta, can they sub more veggies and answer was yes. Instead, they added a potato. Food is great, but the owner/manager is a monster to his employees and refuses to talk to guests if you ask to see him. One of our party tried to send back a cocktail because it was too strong for her to drink, and asked for a glass of wine instead. The young server told us he spoke to the manager and he was told he had to charge for the cocktail even though the person who ordered it couldn't drink it. I asked to see the manager and the server came back up and said the manager is downstairs and we could ask for him when we left. The server also misheard our appetizer order and brought something we didn't order (which could happen to anyone.) That's the last we saw of the server. We later learned that the manager had fired him on the spot, and he never came to see us. We had a party of 4 for dinner on 9/5/24. It was brutal..... It took the waitress over 30 mins to take a drink order. I even went to the bar to order and was told we are short staffed and had no bartender. It then took 20 more minutes to get our bottle of wine. We ordered some appetizers and they were terrible. The meatballs were the size of a quarter and looked they came out of a frozen Walmart bag of Swedish meatballs. The Bruschetta was terrible. The pasta dishes were subpar and it took us 1 hour and 25 minutes to get our food. We expected alot more for the $250.00 we spent. No way any of us will come back. read more

As someone who's worked in the industry in New York City, this establishment is everything YOU DONT WANT. After waiting very long to be seated, the waitress spilled an ENTIRE gallon of tap water on my partner and she did not even apologize. ATROCIOUS behavior, the cocktails, entrees everything is overpriced. The Italian food is almost despicable like microwaveable pizza and spaghetti. I grew up in New Jersey where Italian food is a staple, here it's just ridiculous. It's almost offensive - the food service, the atmosphere, the food is just a gross excuse for a restaurant. I never give bad reviews, but this place needs Gordon Ramsey terribly for a Restaurant Makeover. If you like throwing your money away for bad service, disgusting food go here! We ate here a few weeks ago when we were on vacation. We came because of the good reviews. I think people that own the place a writing the reviews. I think the food is comparable to the Olive Garden. First off, salad was iceberg lettuce with store bought croutons. I ordered some kind of chicken scallopini dish the sauce was okay, but I guess they don't know what scallopini means, they served two thick pieces of chicken breast that were dry and overcooked. The only thing that was good was the pizza. We wanted cannoli for dessert but the ran out. When we were presented with the bill, we were told if you pay with plastic there is another 3% added to your bill. What a rip off! I recommend you stay away from this place. read more

They are open - yelp's hours are not correct. This might be the best homemade Italian bread in new york, and I live in Manhattan. The service is excellent and the food was so good. My steak was cooked perfectly - a crisp brown crust and tender pink center. The chicken parm was incredible. They sell the homemade pasta sauce by the jar and it was hard not to leave with a few. Management is lacking in leadership and self control. No business owners should be putting their hands on employees especially injured employees. First of all the view is magnificent! Lake Champlain is truly an amazing backdrop for a gem in the North Country! Our escargot and calamari appetizers were cooked well and tasty! I ordered the seafood special with vodka sauce and asked to have it over vegetables (which our waiter did with no hesitation) and it was delicious! My husband had the beef tortellini and raved about it. Our friends had the triple pasta and the salmon a la vodka and thoroughly enjoyed it! The tiramisu was light and fluffy and the key lime pie was fantastic! Our waiter, Scott, was attentive and pleasant throughout our meal! My husband and I came back this evening for dinner. After a long week, we wanted nothing more than to have a wonderful dinner, a beautiful atmosphere, and enjoy a local meal. I bought a Pizza Card from Star 92.9 Radio Station for the NY area and this restaurant was one of the places you can get a free large pizza from. I was in Rouses Point with friends for lunch at a different Restaurant and called to order a pizza to go, which the card stated you could eat in or TAKE OUT the pizza. I was told by the person who answered the phone that THE BOSS said no we are only doing eat in. I pointed out it says on the card you could Take Out, but again was told boss said only eat in. So I guess I am getting screwed by this business because the boss said so! Why participate in a promotion then make up your own rules, don't participate if you can't abide by the agreed upon rules of the card. Such a lovely surprise a very upscale restaurant in a very small town I wasn't expecting such great food and great service. This place could easily compete with any 4 star in any major city. I went there on a Friday night and ordered chicken parm to be on the safe side and it was amazing but I was disappointed that I didn't order the prime rib. So I told the waiter that we would be back and Saturday if he could save me an end cut of rib. Our entrees were $21 each, which is not to bad for veal, the beer my husband found a little high for RP, it was $7.50. Our dinners came with a starch side, I ordered pasta with a meat sauce again excellent. I know a weird combo, but bakers are also a choice. Our waitress was great, very personable and efficient. The uniforms are very nice, sticking with the nautical theme. Only two things struck me as strange, no fish or seafood and I the bread was very cold and the butter followed suit. When I inquired about it I was told that's the way it is, and the butter must be frozen according to the health dept. really? Finally a good restaurant in Rouses Point! Based on the reviews we had high expectations for this place. We arrived early, around 4 pm, after a day of sight seeing. The atmosphere is very nice. We both ordered specials, me the salmon and shrimp over pasta and my husband, the ribeye with shrimp. We were promptly served our wine and given bread, which was warm and very good. We waited about 30 minutes for our meal and we're not checked on by our server. When I was served my plate, I was hesitant because there was, I would guess, about 3/4 cup of oil floating on top of the sauce and pasta. My husband's steak was ok. My salmon, shrimp and oil was bland and I could not make myself eat even half. When our server asked if I was finished I said yes, and she asked if I needed a box and I said no. My expectation was that she would ask how it was, but she didn't; she quickly walked away. When she brought the bill, she said cards would have a surcharge of 3.3%, which I found ridiculous. I said I noticed she didn't ask how it was, which was odd. She got flustered and then asked and I told her it was not good and extremely oily. She just said she was sorry. Our bill was $75. We were extremely disappointed with both the food and the service. read more
