Everybody I interacted with - greeter, waiter, food runners, etc. - were friendly, neat, and professional, which along with the great food made a memorable dining experience. I had no trouble making a 6:00 Saturday reservation earlier that day but it did fill up while I was there so it was probably needed. Though there were some seats that remained open at the bar, so walk-ins might be accommodated there. It was a nice bar, with a very pretty stained glass table lamp on the counter and a very cool-looking bartender adding flair to the otherwise conservatively-attired staff. The menu is extensive and very Turkish. Even the wine list: every wine that I checked was Turkish. I know nothing about Turkish wine but the one I did try (many available by the glass) was enjoyable. I tried a cocktail too; a Turkish Cosmo, made with a Turkish pomegranate syrup. This was good too, tangy and not too sweet. For beers they offer ones from Turkey, Vermont, Mexico, and Connecticut. I was happy not to see any major American brands offered. I don't usually comment on prices, but they seemed slightly on the low side here, for everything: drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. I am not complaining! I started with the Cold Meze Platter appetizer, recommended for 2. (Too much for 1 so I took some home.) Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Turkish Salsa, Hadari, and Stuffed Grape Leaves. Everything was very good, and the fresh-baked still-warm hadari bread it was served with was perfect with it. The Baba Ganoush was exceptional, chunky in texture and smoky in flavor. From the very extensive entree section I chose the Surf and Turf: skewers of swordfish and lamb, the latter cooked to order (it came out a perfect medium-rare as requested). The skewers, which also had green pepper and onions, was served with rice, bulghur, grilled tomato, a lemon wedge, and a salad of cabbage and pickled onions. Both the swordfish and lamb were marinated and had lots of flavor. The sides were good too. The portion size was generous and I didn't quite finish it, taking the rest of it home along with some of the appetizer. After finishing my entree and my wine, and taking in the ambience of this relaxing, blue-walled space, it was time for dessert. Among the 8 choices (a refreshingly large number) were 3 kinds of baklava. I went with the Fistikli Çikolata (chocolate, pistachio, and hazelnut) If, like me your experience with baklava has mostly been the junk found on the counter of numerous pizza houses (stale, dry, and overly sweet) this is nothing like that and will change your opinion. The three pieces made a fairly large portion but it was so good there was no question of leaving any behind. This was also offered with Turkish ice cream but I didn't get it that way. I had the Somali Rice with Goat Meat, which was incredibly flavorful. The rice was perfectly seasoned and aromatic, and the goat was tender, well-cooked, and beautifully spiced. My wife had the Coconut Chicken Stew with Rice, and she couldn't stop talking about how delicious and comforting it was -- the coconut sauce added a rich, creamy touch that paired so well with the perfectly cooked chicken and rice. We also shared two beef samosas, which were crispy, savory, and packed with flavorful filling. They were the perfect appetizer to start our meal. The service was friendly, prompt, and welcoming, just like the first time we visited. Even though we ordered takeout, the staff made us feel valued and took great care to package everything carefully to keep it fresh and warm. The ambiance of Kismayo Kitchen is always warm and inviting. Even though we didn't dine in this time, you can still feel the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere when you walk up to place your order. Kismayo Kitchen continues to impress with its authentic flavors, generous portions, and wonderful service. It's quickly becoming one of our favorite go-to spots for Somali cuisine.

We decided to try Indian Grill--and honestly, from the outside, you would never guess that this is a fine restaurant with great food and excellent service! We ordered dahi gappe, pakoras, the Desi Thai curry that was recommended to us, a chicken curry, samosas, rice, and tandoori roti. Quite a spread! The dahi gappe were the real standout for me. They came with their own little cup of sweet yogurt, which reminded me a bit of lassi, while the crispy homemade gappe were filled with chana and potato. I've had my fair share of gappe, and these were simply exquisite. So many flavors and textures at once--the sweet, tangy, spicy, creamy and, of course, that fantastic crunch. Delicious! The rice was also spot on. Long-grain, perfectly cooked, with each grain holding its own. None of that mushy, stew-like or oatmeal texture--just how rice should be--and the flavor was right where it needed to be. Both chicken dishes were tender and flavorful, with the meat pairing really well with both the coconut-based yellow sauce and the richer red sauce. The samosas had their own distinct character, more in line with the Indian-style samosas than the Pakistani version I'm more accustomed to. Different, but very good! The ambiance was calm and inviting, and the interior was surprisingly nice. But what really topped everything off was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. Their recommendations were spot on, and they clearly knew their menu. If I have to be picky, the music could have been a little quieter. In a restaurant like this, I prefer music at true background volume so you can focus on the food and conversation. But that's a very minor point and certainly didn't take away from the experience. The Chicken Vindaloo was so flavorful and the spice level was perfect. The sauce had a nice viscosity and the chicken was nice big pieces. Though they were tender, they were a little dry, and the rice was a little plain. As for the garlic Naan, is was soft and came with 3 unique sauces. Each were different but were fresh and added incredible uniqueness to the meal. I especially liked the green sauce and the pink pickled peppers. The whole dinner provided two meals. As for service, the person at the door was very warm and helpful with the menu. The inside of the resturant was very welcoming. Next time I'm in town, I look forward to trying their buffet. Coming from the SF Bay Area, we have very good access to good momos at least in South Bay. What we got this day in Burlington would have been a great challenger to all the Momo shops in the Bay Area that I'm typing this review in right now. (Ignore the dashes in words. I don't want people to find my review using the words with dashes because this was a special day.) ----------------- 3 orders of momos. Chai. The restaurant was absolutely over-whelmed. The front of the restaurant were packed to the br-im with customers wai-ting for their takeout orders. We had to wa-it ha-lf an ho-ur for ours. After all, the steamers could cook only so many momos at once. Everyone was nervous, excited, and on their toes. Yet, service was not compromised. The owner, understanding our frustration, gave us some mango lassi while we waited. We're finally opened up the tin container when we got to our viewing location, which was around, 20 minutes? We loved it. The momos were still warm and juicy. The flavors were relatively basic, rustic, but also felt very healthy, in a sense that it was missing that je ne sais quoi, that roundness in taste, that I assume is a LACK of MSG. What kicked this into 11 was the chutney it came with. More tomato heavy than my average experience. You could taste how clean the tomatoes were. It was FRESH!
